      Arsenal ‘lining up Douglas Luiz transfer in summer’ after Aston Villa rejected three bids for midfielder in January

      ARSENAL are lining up a summer move for Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz, according to reports.The Brazilian midfielder, 23, was the subject of multiple bids in the January transfer window, all turned down by the Midlands club.

      Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed the potential move on his podcast.
      He said: “Arsenal need a midfielder, they wanted a midfielder in January.
      “Also because Elneny will leave the club so they need a player in that position.
      “Douglas Luiz is one to watch in the summer.
      “Not only for Arsenal, they have an interest, but I’m not convinced he will extend his contract with Aston Villa, so he could be a big name on the market this summer.
      “So keep an eye on Douglas Luiz, not only for Arsenal, but they have his name on the list.”

      The deep-lying Villa midfielder signed from Man City in 2019, despite never playing for them due to work permit issues.

      The 21-year-old was chucked straight in from the start in the Serie A clash against Hellas Verona, and it didn’t take him long to get used to his new surroundings.
      With just over 12 minutes on the clock the ball dropped into the path of Manchester United and Liverpool target Paulo Dybala.
      He lofted a perfectly weighted pass over the top, which Vlahovic ran on to and deliciously chipped over the onrushing Lorenzo Montipo.
      It was a goal of the highest quality, and saw Vlahovic kick off his career as a Juve player in ideal fashion.
      It was exactly the type of clinical finish that will have Arsenal fans thinking what could have been.
      Reports in January claimed the Gunners had offered a whopping £88m for Vlahovic’s services.

      Now the Daily Mirror claims that United are eyeing a swoop.
      They allegedly view the Swedish international as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who turned 37 yesterday, should the legend leave this summer.
      Chelsea could also be on the look-out for a forward at the end of the season if Romelu Lukaku fails to hit top form.
      And Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been linked with Isak for several months.
      However, his chances will largely depend on whether his team can qualify for next season’s Champions League.

      Isak is tied down to a long-term contract until 2026, meaning the LaLiga side have no pressure to sell.
      Speaking recently about the transfer speculation, the star told Mundo Deportivo: “I am not talking about other clubs.
      “I am a Real player, I work here and this is my club. My work is on the pitch, and as I told you before, there are other people who work outside.”
      When quizzed about a future exit, potentially at the end of the campaign, Isak added: “You can never be sure of anything.
      “As I always say, you never know what can happen in football but in the end I’m here, happy, and nothing more.”
