Arsenal fans loving Per Mertesacker’s LinkedIn as ex captain shows off about fining Nacho Monreal for wearing PONCHO

ARSENAL fans have reacted hilariously to former captain Per Mertesacker’s LinkedIn profile as his bio contains a story about fining team-mate Nacho Monreal. The German centre-back joined the Gunners in 2011 and played for them for seven years before hanging up his boots.

Since then, he has been a part of the backroom staff, occupying various roles before landing the job as manager of their academy side.
But that has not stopped him from creating a LinkedIn profile in which he reveals a brilliant anecdote about fining Spanish defender Monreal for wearing a poncho.
His bio about being with the North London outfit reads: “Current first team defender for Premier League club Arsenal FC.
“Known for committed style and sense of gamesmanship.”

He continues: “Have developed excellent leadership skills as senior figure at club.
“Chosen by the manager to be responsible for enforcing club’s strict penalties on player behaviour (for example, fining players for inappropriate dress or improper language. Once fined Nacho Monreal £10k for wearing a poncho on match day).”
And Arsenal supporters were left in hysterics at the post, reacting in their droves.
One said: “Absolutely phenomenal 😂😂😂 Per and Nacho are such an iconic duo”.

Another added: “I will pay £10k to go back in time and be a fly on the wall for that moment”.
A third said: “I bet Nacho is still p****d about that one. I hope he kicks Per in the shins next time he sees him 😂”.
And a fourth simply added: “Poncho Monreal”.
Mertesacker’s more general “about” section is also superb, with the 2014 World Cup winner selling himself in brilliant fashion.
He said: “Experienced and successful sporting professional currently playing for Arsenal FC in London.
“Known affectionately as the Big Friendly Giant amongst fans. World Cup winner.
Excellent communication skills (German, English) and strong work ethic.
“Now looking for opportunities post-football career. Open to international move.”

While Mertesacker retired and stayed with Arsenal’s coaching set-up, Monreal left in 2019 towards the end of his playing days in search of first team football.
He spent three years at Real Sociedad before hanging up his boots in the summer. More

Arsenal suffer blow in £50m Pedro Neto transfer pursuit as Wolves insists winger is NOT for sale

ARSENAL have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Pedro Neto with Wolves having no intention of selling the winger this summer.SunSport understands that the Gunners are willing to fork out up to £35million for the 22-year-old.
Wolves winger Pedro Neto has been linked with a summer switch to ArsenalCredit: Getty
But Wolves are looking for at least £50m despite just signing a ready-made replacement in £27.5m Goncalo Guedes from Valencia.
Arsenal are keen to bring in another wide man with Nicolas Pepe set to return to Ligue 1 to link up with Nice on loan.
Despite Wolves’ £50m valuation of Neto, it has been claimed that they have insisted the forward is not for sale.
The Portugal international, who has started all three Premier League games this season, still has five years left to run on his deal at Molineux.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
Commenting on the player, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has confirmed Arsenal are keen on Neto, but could struggle in securing his services.
He told GiveMeSport: “Number one, there’s definitely interest in him.
“As far as Wolves are concerned, they’ve got no intention of selling in this transfer window, and their stance is that he is not for sale.
“However, money talks, it just depends if Arsenal were to make that interest formal, how much they would test that resolve of Wolves by going in with whatever money they thought deemed fit for Pedro Neto.”

He also added: “As far as Wolves are concerned, he’s not going to be sold in this transfer window.
“That’s the information I was told – this transfer window.
“Maybe in the future, Arsenal could go back in. Who knows?
“Neto could be the longer-term target, but there is definitely interest to strengthen that forward line.”

Should Arsenal fail in their pursuit of Neto, they could turn their attention to Shakhtar Donestk starlet Mykhaylo Mudryk.
Meanwhile Villarreal teenager Yeremy Pino has also been linked with a switch to the Emirates. More

Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe joining Nice on loan transfer with NO option to buy with Gunners paying most of his huge wages

ARSENAL have reached an agreement to loan Nicolas Pepe to Nice until the end of the season. The Gunners outcast has not played a single minute of their three Prem matches so far this term and has been offered a Ligue 1 escape route.
Nicolas Pepe is set to leave Arsenal on loanCredit: Getty
Nice have reached an agreement with Arsenal that will see them pay half of Pepe’s £140,000 a week wages.
But the French side will NOT possess an option to make the move permanent.
SunSport understands that Ligue 1 clubs are required to agree a contract with a player before a loan with an option to buy can be completed.
With Nice unable to offer Pepe what he earns at Arsenal, a loan deal without a permanent option is the simplest course of action.
    READ MORE ARSENAL STORIES
Pepe, 27, joined Arsenal for £72million from Lille in 2019.
He has subsequently made 112 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 27 goals and laying on 21 assists.

The winger has two years remaining on his Arsenal deal, meaning he will be expected back in North London next summer.
Pepe was an unused substitute in the Gunners’ matches against Crystal Palace and Leicester but was omitted from the squad entirely at Bournemouth last weekend.

The 24-year-old has been used at both wing-back and in midfield but Arsenal are now keen to move on him.
Maitland-Niles has struggled to nail down a first-team spot at the Emirates since making his debut in 2014, aged just 17.
He also has five caps for England, but none since 2020.
And has already been farmed out on loan to Ipswich, West Brom and Roma as he toiled to grab a starting place at the Gunners.

However, the Hammers have their eye on other midfield targets, such as Club Brugge ace Hans Vanaken.
They are also keen on Chelsea and England star Conor Gallagher.

But they face a battle with Everton to land Gallagher, who was on loan at Crystal Palace last season.
West Ham boss David Moyes is likely to first see how those other deals progress before turning his attention to Maitland-Niles.
