Arsenal legend Ljungberg says Gunners have too much firepower for Man Utd as he backs them to continue winning run

FREDDIE LJUNGBERG reckons that table-toppers Arsenal may simply have too much for Manchester United as they visit Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. In 2002 Ljungberg’s all-conquering Gunners won the Premier League at Old Trafford thanks to Sylvain Wiltord, who delivered the sucker punch after Fabien Barthez had blocked the Swede’s first attempt.

This season Mikel Arteta’s high-flying side have yet to drop a point after five games.
But the blistering Swede, who sent shockwaves around England playing in a star-studded Arsenal team boasting superstars like Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry two decades ago, is not one bit surprised.
And he rubbished suggestions that his former side have punched above their weight, given the riches they can now call upon after splashing the cash.
He told SunSport: “This season Arsenal look really good. Winning five games in a row is a great start for the season. They spent the money again this summer and have great players. And as a result, they look great.

“But I don’t think they have exceeded expectations after buying some really good players. The team looks strong, players on players.
“Now they face a sterner test against United, even if I think they are favourites as they look better than them. But United have won three games in a row, so it’s going to be a really interesting game.”
And Ljungberg, a double Premier League champion at Highbury, talked up Arsenal’s chances of breaking Manchester City’s stranglehold.
He said: “It’s hard to say early in the season but this is Arsenal Football Club and they should always challenge for the title.”

Asked whether red-hot £45million signing Gabriel Jesus can follow in the footsteps of his free-scoring Emirates forebears Henry, Robin van Persie and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he claimed that the trio remains a tough act to follow.
He said: “I don’t think we can put Gabriel there yet. But he has the potential and is a very talented young player. This is the first time he has a regular spot, he knows he’s going to play week in, week out which allows him to have some confidence in his game. Let’s talk and wait until the end of the season.
“That said, Gabriel Jesus looks good but [no, he’s not] the best striker since Titi because the club has had some nice strikers since Thierry Henry. But Gabriel Jesus is devastating and I am looking forward to seeing him this season.”
Ljungberg, a TV pundit these days, then urged technical director and former team-mate Edu to head off interest by extending Bukayo Saka’s deal in N7.
He added: “He’s a fantastic young man and young player. It’s up to Arsenal now to see if they can tie him down on a long-term contract because other clubs think he’s good as well. He’s definitely an amazing player and great for Arsenal to have. Saka will become an amazing player.” More

Luiz, 24, was keen on a switch to the Emirates – just a day after he scored in Villa’s 2-1 defeat against the North London outfit.
But no agreement could be found between between the two clubs, with Arteta failing to be reunited with the player he briefly coached at Manchester City.
The Villans were reluctant to part ways with Luiz despite the nine-cap international set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Arsenal were forced to make a late swoop for a midfielder following injuries picked up by Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.

Commenting on Arsenal’s failed pursuit of Luiz in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash against Manchester United, Arteta said: “We had a lot of things still to do in the squad.
“The club has done phenomenal job and put everything on the table to to try and get the players and the profile we wanted.
“We did business pretty early but unfortunately in the last 72 hours Thomas got injured in the same place as last time and Mo has a long-term injury.
“Then we had to react in the market and we tried to bring in the players that are right for the team and work for the club and didn’t manage to do that.

“We pushed to strengthen the team and bring the best possible people and players to this football club.

“It is the team that we have and for the me it is the best squad and the best players that I have available. There is nothing else we can do.
“We have an academy as well that we have to use and try to utilise the players in the best possible way.”
In another blow for Arsenal, Arteta has revealed that the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard and Oleksandr Zinchenko could all miss the trip to Old Trafford. More

KSI has suite at Arsenal’s Emirates with punch machine in it… but Logan Paul’s security punched it so hard it BROKE

LOGAN PAUL revealed KSI has a punch machine in his Arsenal suite – at least he did until his security BROKE it. KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – is a massive Gooner and as a result appears to have a box at the Emirates.

And the YouTuber-turned boxer recently announced a sponsorship deal with Arsenal alongside former opponent and friend Paul.
KSI, whose nickname among pals is JJ, recently returned to the ring, beating TWO opponents in one night at the O2 Arena.
And Paul went to watch from ringside, having seen Arsenal beat Fulham 2-1 earlier in the day.
It was there he alongside his podcast hosts Mike Majlak and George Janko visited KSI’s box, and broke his punch machine.

Majlak said: “Thank you to JJ once again, not only for smoothing things over with the UK audience but also giving us his suite.
“Which was incredible, that had a punching bag in it that our stupid American asses spent the majority of the game trying to beat his record, which was 740.
“No one was able to do it until our massive security detail – he’s a brick wall – he hit the bag once and not only did he break the record, he broke the machine.
“The bag detached, the metal screw evaporated immediately. So JJ, we broke your machine and we’re sorry.”

Arsenal fans fume at each other as #EduOut trends on Twitter with fans slamming transfers despite perfect season start

A section of supporters have been left frustrated by the club’s late summer transfer business.
Over £100million was spent on Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos earlier in the window.
But they did not make a signing on transfer deadline day, despite injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
Late attempts were made to sign Douglas Luiz, but Aston Villa were adamant the midfielder was not for sale.

Arsenal also chose not to bring in a new winger after allowing Nicolas Pepe to join Nice on loan.
And it hasn’t gone down well with a portion of the fanbase, as some sensationally believe transfer chief Edu should be sacked.
The hashtag “EduOut” was even trending on Twitter as supporters vented their fury.

“I think it’s time Edu leaves tbh. He really can’t negotiate a sizeable sale or a player price down. #EduOut.”
Meanwhile, other Arsenal fans were left staggered that some want Edu to leave after this summer’s business.
Jesus’ £45m arrival already looks a bargain after three goals and three assists in five games, while £32m for Zinchenko is a snip too.
One supporter angrily wrote: “You lot are so stupid with this #EduOut. We got some stupid fans!”
