Kante’s desire for a four-year deal could see his seven-year stay in West London come to and end, but the 31-year-old doesn’t want to leave the capital.
In order for their client to stay in the city, his agents are reportedly offering him to Arsenal and Tottenham.
By that point, Mikel Arteta and Co would hope to have sealed a place in the Champions League, given their excellent start to this season.
Should that be the case, the Gunners will look to make additions from a position of strength in order to really compete on Europe’s biggest stage.

Kante would add invaluable experience and quality to Arsenal’s young squad and could be part of a new look midfield.
The Gunners have also been heavily linked with Juventus star Manuel Locatelli, who they tried to sign last year prior to his Turin switch.
A partnership between Kante and Locatelli could make a formidable proposition for any opposing sides.
Arsenal have also been linked with Leicester duo Youri Tielemans and James Maddison – although it would be difficult to justify dropping Martin Odegaard for either.

The Gunners’ attack will be difficult for anyone to break into – with Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka proving to be an incredibly potent trio.
But on current form Leandro Trossard could do just that.
The Brighton ace has five goals in seven Prem outings so far this term – including a sensational hat-trick against Liverpool last week.
Arsenal are also believed to be keen on Ukrainian wonderkid Mykhaylo Mudryk, after the 21-year-old’s amazing start to the season with Shakhtar Donetsk.
Arteta is likely to keep his current defence largely intact, with the Spaniard possessing healthy competition.
William Saliba’s re-introduction has pushed Ben White to right-back – therefore seeing the unlucky Takehiro Tomyasu dropped.

Kante is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
And the Blues have “absolutely no intention” of handing him a new deal, according to Foot Mercato.
The 31-year-old’s injury record means Chelsea are reluctant to pin him down to an extension, with Kante earning a reported £170k-a-week on his current deal.
But the French World Cup winner is intent on staying in London.

As a result, his agents are claimed to have offered him to both Arsenal AND Tottenham.
He is available for nothing at the end of the campaign, and free to begin talks with overseas clubs from January regarding a pre-contract agreement.
But a move to one of Chelsea’s two biggest rivals is reported to be the only realistic option for Kante.
A controversial transfer to Spurs would see him reunite with former Chelsea gaffer Antonio Conte.

Paris Saint-Germain have tried to sign Kante multiple times during his seven-year spell with the Blues, and remain keen on a swoop for him.
Kante though is not believed to be interested in a switch to the French champions.
He is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and has not played since August 14.
The midfielder is now back in full training and nearing a return, but his injury woes mean the Blues are happy to move him on when his contract expires.
Kante has played 262 times for Chelsea since signing from Leicester in 2015, winning the Champions League and Premier League in his seven years at Stamford Bridge. More

However, speculation over the summer suggested the Frenchman may be allowed to leave due to Mikel Arteta previously snubbing him for involvement at Arsenal.
Consequently, rumours suggested he may leave the Emirates in favour of a transfer back to previous loan club Marseille or even Barcelona.
The latter were looking at Saliba as one option to bolster their defensive ranks, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
But upon beating Chelsea to Jules Kounde, the Spanish giants cooled their interest in the Arsenal man.

Instead, Locatelli opted to join Juventus on a two-year loan deal from Sassuolo.
The 24-year-old is set to return to Sassuolo at the end of this season, where he’ll have just 12 months left on his deal.

But the Gunners boss has just three fit midfielders at his disposal after an injury to Mohamed Elneny and his failure to sign one in the summer.
The Spaniard is in the market for a new midfielder after failing with various deadline day bids for Aston Villa star Doulgas Luiz.
And the report claims that if Arsenal launch an appropriate offer, it’ll be considered by Juventus, who have an obligation to make Locatelli’s move from Sassuolo permanent.
His form in Turin has been underwhelming under Massimiliano Allegri, highlighted by the fact he’s started just four times for Italy since the Euros final.
