Chelsea make last ditch bid to HIJACK Arsenal’s January transfer for Mykhaylo Mudryk

CHELSEA are attempting to hijack Arsenal’s move for Mykhaylo Mudryk and are set for talks with the Blues in London this week.Arsenal’s latest offer for the Shakhtar Donetsk star is £62million, but is still well below the Ukrainian side’s asking price.

Despite the Gunners having already agreed personal terms over a five-year deal, worth around £120k-a-week, with Mudryk, Chelsea are set to enter the fray having already started discussions.
If the Blues agree to meet the asking price, around £60million with another £20million in add-ons, and offer better terms than the Gunners they could pip the Premier League leaders to the deal.
And Shakhtar sporting director, Darijo Srna, is set to travel to London for talks this week.
Todd Boehly is set to spend big this month in order to help Graham Potter turn their poor form around.

Benfica’s World Cup winning midfielder, Enzo Fernandez, is a target, but they may not have the funds to sign both the Argentine and Mudryk in the same window.
Mudryk has long teased a move to The Emirates, having openly discussed his desire to join the club as well as posting pictures of him watching recent games on social media.
A move to join Mikel Arteta’s side is still Mudryk’s preference, but the feeling is The Gunners are still a long way off.
The north Londoners remain confident a deal can be struck this month and are pushing to agree terms before Shakhtar travel to Turkey next week for a training camp.

However, Chelsea’s talks could mean the saga drags on across the window.
The winger has 10 goals and eight assists in 18 appearances in all competitions this season and is Arsenal’s No1 target this month.
The Gunners are in need of a forward to take the burden off of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who have played almost every game this term, especially following Gabriel Jesus’ knee surgery.

But with 18 months remaining on his contract and having turned down a new deal, Rice could be heading off.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with his signature but according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, the Gunners could also make a move.
Manchester United are also considering a bid for Rice, who could be sold for closer to £70million.
West Ham previously demanded £100m to let the England star leave.

Liverpool are another club in the race to sign Rice, with the Irons said to be resigned to losing him in the summer.
Jacobs claims Rice would prefer a London move having been born and raised in the capital – he also played for Chelsea at youth level.

But Hammers boss David Moyes is desperate to keep Rice and is hopeful the midfielder will decide to stay at the London Stadium.
He said: “He wants to win and he wants to play for a really good side, which is going to give him that opportunity to do so.

“We hope that we can reach the Champions League — it is looking difficult at this moment in time but we are not just going to roll over and let Dec walk out of the building, that is for sure. It is going to be a big fight.”
Rice won’t be sold in the upcoming January transfer window, but West Ham could cash in on him in the summer.
Chelsea are believed to be leading the race to sign Rice but are in the process of completing a deal for another midfielder, Enzo Fernandez. More

Shakhtar have made it clear that they want at least £50million guaranteed, with the rest of the fee paid in add-ons.
That is £12.5million more than Arsenal offered in their opening bid which was rejected last week.
But the Premier League leaders are confident that they can reach an agreement for the exciting wide player who celebrates his 22nd birthday on Thursday.
And they are looking to wrap up a deal before Mudryk is due to travel to Turkey next week for the start of Shakhtar’s mid-season training camp.

Arsenal’s original offer was £37.5m with the potential for a further £17.5m in future bonus payments.
But cash-strapped Shakhtar do not want to wait for their money and are demanding the majority of any fee is guaranteed – irrespective of how Mudryk performs in the future.
And now that Shakhtar have lowered their original £85million asking price, Arsenal are happy to continue negotiating for a player who has made it clear that he wants to move to the Emirates.
Arsenal have been assured that they are the only club in the hunt for Mudryk but have been alerted to suggestions that Chelsea are considering a bid.

With Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli both having started every Premier League game this season, manager Mikel Arteta is desperate to get Mudryk on board as quickly as possible to maintain his team’s Premier League title charge.
Arteta is keen to bring in attacking reinforcements following Gabriel Jesus’ knee surgery, which will keep him on the sidelines until March at the earliest.
The Spaniard said of Jesus’ injury: “It’s a huge blow for us, obviously.
“He’s such an important player: he’s brought something very different to the team and it’s impossible to replace him.
“But we have other players, other alternatives and we’ll try to get that sorted.

“The transfer window is another option.
“I think [Jesus] is a unique player but Eddie [Nketiah] has incredible qualities as well for the way we want to play.
“We have other alternatives in that we can play Martinelli up front as well.
“We are currently a little bit short in terms of upfront positions but getting Emile [Smith Rowe] back is going to be a big one.” More

He has also fuelled those rumours by stating there is a scenario where he could choose Arsenal over Real Madrid.
Now supporters of the North London outfit are becoming increasingly convinced he is due to arrive at the Emirates in the January window.
And that belief has manifested itself in them overanalysing Mudryk’s Instagram stories.
Pictures of him in the gym led one fan to cite the make of the weights, his “hotel slippers” and a “UK fire alarm” as reasons why the young Ukrainian is in Britain.

That post saw legions of other Arsenal fans add to the theory.
One said: “Lovely find. On that, he could be at that that Sopwell House, Hertfordshire. 👀
“If you look at the images there, the hotel has a running theme of floral wallpaper (orange) as in Mudryks story. Then they got the same air vent system (yellow). 👀”
While another added: “Furthermore, Zinchenko posted gym work yesterday NIGHT TIME. Couple hours later Mudryk posted gym work..AT NIGHT TIME. That’s his mate.
“Couple of my mates motivationally compete with each other in the gym via Insta…same thing.”
And a third replied: “It’s 100% the Millennium hotel Gloucester in London. The light fittings flooring and paint colours all match!!!”
Mudryk, who has contributed 12 goals and 17 assists in 44 games for Shakhtar, dropped two hints about an Arsenal move over the weekend.
One was him labelling Mikel Arteta and Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi – who he previously worked under – as “two top coaches” while he watched their Premier League clash.
He then posted a compilation video of his own highlights from 2022 with the song Circo Loco by 21 Savage and Drake over the top.
The song includes the lyrics: “Still gotta see the Gunners win Premier League.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans’ detective work on Mudryk is nothing new.

The forward has admitted he is a fan of the English top flight but he apparently never rooted for the usual title contenders like the Gunners, the Blues or United.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Portugal international admitted he supports Leeds.
However, the 23-year-old’s soft spot for the Yorkshire giants is highly unlikely to take him to Elland Road in the near future.
But Felix is still likely to leave Atletico after a reported fallout with manager Diego Simeone.

Atleti chief executive Gil Marin also conceded that the Portuguese ace wants to leave.
Marin told TVE: “[Felix] is the biggest bet this club has taken in its history. I personally think he’s a top talent, a world-class player.
“For reasons it isn’t worth getting into – the relationship between him and the boss [Simeone], the minutes played, his motivation right now – it makes you think that the reasonable thing is that if there’s an option that’s good for the player, good for the club, we can look at it.
“I’d love him to stay personally, but I don’t think that’s the player’s idea.”
