Lokonga has had limited first-team opportunities so far at the Emirates and has faced criticism over his performances.
But the Mail report Palace are interested in the 23-year-old.

If a deal was to be done the two teams would have to thrash out an arrangement in the final hours of deadline day.

Arsenal’s ongoing efforts to bring in Jorginho could help free up the Belgian for the move to Selhurst Park.
Mikel Arteta had been looking for reinforcements in midfield even before Mohamed Elneny’s injury earlier this month.
Lokonga has been one the club’s rotation players since signing and played in all six of Arsenal’s Europa League group games this season.
But the star has been limited to six Premier League appearances and has struggled in the cup competitions.

Lokonga was among the back-up Arsenal stars who failed to impress in the first-half against Oxford United in the FA Cup earlier this month.
He also appeared to anger his captain Martin Odegaard during the defeat to Manchester City last week.
The Gunners have reportedly knocked back a bid from Monaco for the midfielder already in this window. More

His arrival gives Mikel Arteta some much-needed depth in the middle of the park.
Up to now, Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka had very little behind them in terms of back-up.
But Jorginho coming to the Emirates will provide some serious competition for places.
And Arsenal fans will already be speculating about who could make way for the former Napoli man if he was to force himself into the starting XI.

Arteta has consistently played a 4-3-3 formation throughout the campaign so far.
But Jorginho could switch things up a little, with the Arsenal boss potentially moving to more of a 4-2-3-1.
And getting the Italian into the team would mean one of Xhaka or Partey dropping out.
It is more likely to be Xhaka given Partey has become arguably Arsenal’s most important player.

That would be harsh on the Swiss midfielder given his superb form this season, but it would give Arteta a strong option off the bench.
And he can afford to tinker with the side given the rest of his XI is so stable.
A back five of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Gabriel, William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko is not expected to be broken up any time soon..
And the front four of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah have been superb ever since Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
Arsenal sit five points ahead of Man City with a game in hand.

Next up for the league leaders is a trip to Everton – who will be hoping the arrival of Sean Dyche gives them a new lease of life.
Arsenal then host Brentford, before a mouth-watering clash with title rivals Man City at the Emirates on February 15. More

The Premier League leaders have been given the green light by owner Stan Kroenke to get the Caicedo deal over the line.
That is even if it means paying a club-record fee.
They have already had two bids rejected by Brighton owner Tony Bloom, who maintains that the 21-year-old Ecuador international is not for sale at any price.
But they are ready to make one last bid to persuade the Seagulls to cash in and are willing to go as high as £75million.

Arsenal’s refusal to take ‘no’ for an answer suggests talks could go to the wire tonight after Caceido submitted an official transfer request at the weekend.
The Gunners noted that Brighton have just signed a potential replacement after agreeing a £5.25m deal for the Swedish Under-21 star Yasin Ayani from AIK Solna.
They also believe Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi is coming around to the idea of selling Caicedo after he said: “I’d like it if he can finish the season with us but we are ready to go forward without him.”
Brighton are sixth in the Premier League and through to the FA Cup fifth round.

Manchester United reject Arsenal’s reported world-record transfer bid for Alessia Russo

ARSENAL have reportedly had an audacious January transfer bid for Red Devils forward Alessia Russo knocked back. The Manchester United ace, 23, is thought be the target of a world record bid exceeding the fee Barcelona paid to Man City for Keira Walsh, according to The Athletic.

Russo’s current contract with the WSL leaders is set to come to an end this summer.
Her team have lost just one of the 11 top-flight games they have played so far this season.
Reports claim Man United’s contract talks with the player have yet to lead to a new one for Russo with the club.
It is thought Arsenal, who are currently third in the league, are keen to try and seal a deal for Russo before the 5pm cut-off point for WSL transfers on Tuesday.

However Sky Sports reports the Red Devils have rebuffed the offer made by their title rivals.
It is also thought the forward has been attracting interest from clubs in the United States.
Russo, who helped England to win last summer’s Women’s Euros, has emerged as one of Europe’s most talented forwards following her performances for club and country.
The Kent-born WSL star netted four goals for the Lionesses before their defeat of Germany in the Euros final at Wembley last July.

And this season the forward, who began her senior playing career at Chelsea in 2016, has scored five goals in nine top-flight appearances
This includes a stoppage time winner during her team’s 3-2 defeat of the Gunners at the Emirates.
The victory saw Marc Skinner’s side becoming the first team to beat their rivals at the stadium in the league.
Arsenal’s move for Russo comes in a month which has seen them strengthen their attacking ranks following Beth Mead’s and Vivianne Miedema’s ACL injuries towards the end of last year.
The North London giants, who play West Ham in the WSL on Sunday, signed Netherlands midfielder Victoria Pelova from Ajax and Denmark starlet Kathrine Kuhl.
The duo were both on target in their team’s 9-0 demolition of Leeds Ladies in the FA Cup.
The team will face last year’s contest winners Chelsea in a fifth round duel on Saturday 25 February.
Jonas Eidevall’s side, who are yet to win a trophy under their boss, are chasing their first WSL title win since the 2018-19 season.
On Saturday the Gunners were reported to have rejected a Blues bid for the services of their winger Katie McCabe.

Arsenal could sign Jorginho as an alternative and are looking to take advantage of the fact he is out of contract in the summer.
Sky Sports in Germany are reporting that the Italian international is ‘close’ to moving across London in a move that would raise some eyebrows.
The move has come about because fellow Blues midfielder Conor Gallagher is believed to have rejected a move to Everton.
Chelsea could look to cash in on Jorginho now but that could depend on the success of their move for Benfica star Enzo Fernandez, report The Athletic.

The Blues have reignited their interest Fernandez after bidding for the Argentina international at the beginning of the month.
Arsenal have several targets in mind and are determined to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes at 11pm tomorrow.
They view Jorginho, 31, as an alternative for Caicedo after reportedly seeing a £70million bid rejected for the Ecuadorian.
And it is thought that Brighton’s position will not change before the window closes.

Caicedo has been told to stay away from training until after the deadline passes and was excluded from Brighton’s FA Cup win over Liverpool at the weekend.
But Chelsea could also demand a significant fee to let Jorginho leave, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
It is believed Arsenal are also preparing another offer for Caicedo in the region of £70m with £5m worth of add-ons.
That would be a club record fee for Arsenal, eclipsing the £72m spent on flop Nicolas Pepe.
Brighton could be open to selling before the end of the transfer window but are holding out for £80m. More

Arsenal loanee Balogun reveals he copied Thierry Henry’s celebration after chatting to icon before Reim’s draw with PSG

ON-LOAN Arsenal starlet Folarin Balogun copied Thierry Henry’s celebration following his latest strike for Reims – after a chat with the legend. The 21-year-old pounced in the sixth minute of additional time to earn the Ligue 1 club a draw at the home of reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.

He then raced towards the corner flag and recreated one of Henry’s iconic celebrations from his time playing for France.
Balogun took to social media after the game to share a twin-up of both his and Henry’s pose.
And he captioned it with: “Spoke to Titi before the game! Only right I show my respect.”
Balogun, who has scored seven in 13 caps for England U21s but is also eligible for both the USA and Nigeria at international level, joined Arsenal’s academy way back in 2008.

He has struggled to make the breakthrough at the Emirates at senior level, playing just twice in the Premier League.
The forward spent the second half of last season in the Championship on loan at Middlesbrough and found the net three times.
But after agreeing to spend the current campaign in France with Reims, he has discovered his goalscoring touch with 11 in 19 Ligue 1 appearances.
After the game, Balogun’s manager William Still said of the ace: “He is a super complete striker, he is able to play with his back to goal, in depth. It is technically very clean. He scores, he is decisive.”

Premier League leaders Arsenal could certainly do with Balogun in their ranks at the moment.
Despite being five points clear of Manchester City, they are without first-choice forward Gabriel Jesus through injury.
That has left fellow youngster Eddie Nketiah, 23, to lead the line but he has been in fine form himself with seven goals in his last eight matches. More

Two ways Arsenal can replace Thomas Partey without splashing out on huge Moises Caicedo transfer amid injury fears

NO MOISES CAICEDO, no problem.Arsenal are believed to have submitted a third bid for Brighton’s Ecuadorian midfielder and Gooners’ anxiety levels are through the roof.

Since the initial concerns over Thomas Partey’s injury fans have been concerned over what we’ll do if a new midfielder isn’t brought in before the deadline.
It seems obvious now that while Albert Sambi Lokonga may well evolve into a true talent in time, he simply does not possess the mentality required to play as a sole defensive midfielder for now.
The young Belgian is fine with the ball, but shows little without it and that on its own rules him out as cover for Partey.
What seems strange, given the two failed bids for Douglas Luiz at the end of the last transfer window, is that Mikel Arteta and Edu had seemingly identified this as a squad weakness.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
So why then wait until the final week of this present window to bid for Caicedo?
We may never know the answer and we may yet further test Brighton’s resolve but what if we don’t and have left it too late to seek an alternative, given Mo Elneny’s absence?
The first thing to bear in mind is that Partey is not injured and will play this weekend against Everton, so we are truly looking at worst case scenario contingency plans.
We have cover for Granit Xhaka but do we have options for an injury to our Ghanaian lynchpin?

My belief is that we have two possible solutions.
Firstly, we know that Oleksandr Zinchenko captains Ukraine from the base of their midfield.
Yes, international football is different to the Premier League, but we have seen our left-back step into Arteta’s midfield before.
Technically, the Ukrainian is without doubt able to play the defensive pivit role. He reads danger well, is more than proficient at avoiding the press, can operate in tight spaces and has the ability to start attacks with his passing range.
If we were to move Zinchenko into a deep midfield role, we are fortunate to have a quality international left back in Kieran Tierney to slot in at fullback.
The ever popular Scot would not let anybody down but has struggled to play the new role as Arteta has asked him. This being the case the team might have to slightly change their style, but Gabriel Martinelli’s workload would decrease with the return of his former pal overlapping.
If Arteta is set on playing the same way, and who could blame him as it is working so well, there is a second option that allows Zinchenko to stay at left back, supporting the midfield as he currently does.
At right back, Ben White is not required to step into midfield and operate more conventionally, supporting and overlapping Bukayo Saka.
We are blessed on that flank to also have two high level exponents of the role and, as we saw against United, playing Takehiro Tomiyasu at right back is seamless, and does not weaken that flank.
White has played the defensive midfielder role at Leeds in the past. Today’s White is a far superior model to the one who helped Leeds gain promotion and I have few doubts he could proficiently play in the position.
We have been stunned by his close control, intricate touches in evading challenges and his passing range, all evident during his successful transition from centre back to right back this campaign.
White will not be a Partey clone but his defensive awareness and understanding of what to do without the ball, would make his a far more compelling and mature option to Lokonga.

I have not mentioned our new Polish addition as whilst I read he can play in midfield, to do so in a new league straight away would be a huge ask.
Let’s see what the deadline brings but let’s not be all doom and gloom. We are still top of the toughest league in the world and we do have strong internal possibilities if the our worst fears do materialise. More
