      West Ham line up two Premier League stars to replace Declan Rice with Arsenal favourites to sign England star

      WEST HAM have reportedly identified their midfield targets for the summer as they look to replace the departing Declan Rice.The Hammers look resigned to the fact they will lose their captain in the summer with Arsenal currently said to be leading the race for the England star’s signature.

      David Moyes’ side will need to find a fitting replacement for Rice who has been vitally important to the club since bursting onto the scene.
      The Evening Standard have reported that the East London club are interested in two names to fill the spot vacated by Rice.
      They are said to be looking at bringing in Kalvin Phillips and Conor Gallagher in order to bolster their midfield.
      West Ham had a £50million bid rejected for Phillips in January 2022 before he made the move to Manchester City, but with his playing time limited at the Etihad a move could be more likely this time round.

      Gallagher has been of interest to multiple Premier League clubs after falling out of favour at Chelsea following his spectacular loan spell with Crystal Palace last season.
      West Ham will have to fend off the likes of Liverpool who are also rumoured to be interested in signing the Chelsea midfielder this summer.
      Reports suggest it is extremely likely Rice will depart the London Stadium this summer after 10 years with the club from youth level to becoming club captain.
      Arsenal are leading the charge for his signature, but it won’t be easy to secure his services with Chelsea and Manchester United said to be interested too.

      Littlewoods Investment LLP used the council’s cash to transform an old industrial building in Liverpool into a trendy office block named the Bunker.
      The Bunker, previously described as the “UK’s most stylish” office, formed the first part of the regeneration of the famous Littlewoods site next door.
      Council bosses want to transform Liverpool into the “Hollywood of the North” and there are hopes that Littlewoods, a sprawling art deco building, can be a part of that vision.
      The team behind The Batman starring Robert Pattinson recently handpicked the city famous for its Gothic architecture as a filming location.
      Arteta, who now manages Premier League leaders Arsenal, joined Littlewoods Investment LLP in 2013.
      There is no suggestion Arteta, the company or those involved have done anything wrong.
      Companies House describes Arteta as the person of significant control in the LLP.
      Former Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez joined the firm in 2013, when the Uruguay international played for Liverpool FC.

      Ex-Arsenal player Santiago Cazorla and former Liverpool player Pezzini Leiva also joined Littlewoods Investment in 2013.
      Arteta, Suarez, Cazorla and Leiva have all played for some of the biggest clubs in the world and are respected figures in world sport.
      Tim Heatley and Adam Higgins, co-founders of regeneration company Capital and Centric, are also designated members.
      Documents filed to Companies House reveal that Liverpool City Council (LCC) granted the loan to Littlewoods Investment LLP in 2013 and charged the company an interest rate of six per cent.
      The public documents suggest that the loan should be paid back within seven years and one month of the project’s completion.
      LCC, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, confirmed the loan had not at that point been paid back. Companies House also states that the loan is outstanding.
      The Sun contacted both parties to confirm the current status of the loan, but could not get any details.
      ‘HOLLYWOOD OF THE NORTH’
      The Bunker building was completed in 2015 by regeneration firm Capital and Centric.
      The scheme was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
      The high-tech work space which features super-fast broadband sits next to Littlewoods Building which was ravaged by a massive blaze in 2018.
      A local icon, which opened in the late 1930s, it was the flagship of the Littlewoods Pools empire.
      The art-deco unit with a facade nearly one kilometre wide was convened during the war when parachutes and other supplies were made there.
      LCC is now driving plans to turn the site into a film studio.
      The plans will create thousands of local jobs and revive the site which has been derelict for years.
      The city’s Metro authority and council have agreed to inject around £17m into the ambitious scheme which would boost the city’s chances of becoming the “Hollywood of the North.”
      The city’s historic locations and scenic waterfront have been the backdrop for massive movies including Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
      Speaking about the site last December Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor Liverpool City Region, said: “Our area has become a magnet for film and TV productions from around the world in recent years – making us the UK’s most filmed location outside of London.
      “But I want to take our region to the next level, to stake our claim as the ‘Hollywood of the North’.

      “The £17m we’re investing into both Littlewoods and The Depot will be central in turning that ambition into a reality – helping us to cater for every stage of the production process and creating new jobs and training opportunities for local people.
      “I can’t wait to see work start on the project.”

      Arsenal star Folarin Balogun wanted by AC Milan in summer transfer as Gunners set out their asking price for loan star

      AC MILAN are targeting a summer move for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun, reports in Italy say. The American-born England Under-21 international has spent the season on loan with Reims and is shining with 18 goals in 29 league games.

      And his form has attracted attention from across Europe, especially with Serie A champions Milan.
      According to Calciomercato, the Italian giants have added Balogun to their shortlist of targets in the summer.
      But they expect Premier League leaders Arsenal to demand a transfer fee of £26.5million.
      Milan are currently off the pace, only one point above rivals Inter in fourth.

      Ex-Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, 36, leads the way as their top scorer this term with 12 in 34.
      And the Frenchman is close to confirming a new two-year deal with Milan, despite their interest in Balogun, 21.
      The Arsenal forward looks braced to return to London in the summer with the club already in fine scoring form.
      It means he faces a fight to compete with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, 26, and Eddie Nketiah, 23.

      Only Chelsea target Jonathan David and Kylian Mbappe have scored more goals in France’s top flight this season.
      While Arsenal will be overjoyed with Balogun’s progress, his sudden rise presents them with a problem this summer.
      Balogun, who has been with the club since he was an eight-year-old, wants to continue being a first-choice striker when his loan spell ends.

      And the Athletic reports that the forward has no intention of being sent out on loan again.
      It presents the Gunners with a serious dilemma given the club are already well-stocked in the No 9 position.
      Gabriel Jesus has made an instant impact after signing from Manchester City last summer.

      The Brazilian headed home a late equaliser after some brilliant play from Trent Alexander-Arnold to nutmeg Zinchenko before clipping a cross to the far post.
      It would prove to be Zinchenko’s final part in play, being subbed off for Kieran Tierney a moment later.
      The Ukrainian could then be seen on the bench with his hands on his face.

      He appeared to be upset with his last involvement being one which saw Arsenal lose the chance for an important victory.
      Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was critical of Zinchenko’s defending, telling Sky Sports: “I can’t get Zinchenko out of my head.
      “The league title’s on the line, you’ve got to be more aggressive. That can’t happen.
      “There’s got to be more intensity from Zinchenko. It’s almost like he’s training and doesn’t want the ball to go through his legs.”

      But Mohamed Salah put the Merseysiders back on the game with a strike just three minutes before half-time.
      Piers, however, felt confident at half-time as he treated himself with a cuppa on his favourite mug and taunted Liverpool fans… a little too soon.

      Had no chance with Salah’s close-range tap in or Firmino’s header. Psyched Salah out later who skewed his penalty wide. Saved from the Egyptian brilliantly moments later.
      Made a brilliant one-on-one save from Darwin Nunez with 10 minutes left. Then another wonder save from Salah with the ball curling towards goal.
      And made another astonishing save from Konate in injury time. Was booked for playing mind games on the pen.

      Tough game for the Ukrainian with Salah running at him all day.
      Was caught out of position a few times, which is the norm. But, his passing – as always – was great.
      Kept the ball in tight situations to take the pressure off. However, was done by Alexander-Arnold for the equaliser.
      Thomas Partey – 6
      As the pivot in midfield, Partey was vital in picking the right pass to push his team forward.
      Hardly gave the ball away, and got his foot in to deny many Liverpool counters. His positional sense is always first class.
      Granit Xhaka – 6
      Booked stupidly, raising temperatures at Anfield – right before Salah scored. But kept his head in the second half and was given the captain’s armband when Odegaard was subbed off.
      Made some crunching tackles in the middle of the park.

      Martin Odegaard – 6
      Probing, constantly. Was involved in Martinelli’s opener, pulled the strings as a No10 and sometimes deeper.
      As captain, he showed his leadership qualities by fighting for Arsenal’s cause in the middle of the park.
      Bukayo Saka – 7
      Important run for Martinelli’s opener, left Robertson for dead before the ball broke to the Brazilian.
      Whenever he got the ball, looked dangerous. Showed a magic bit of skill to allude two Liverpool defenders. Worked tirelessly.
      Gabriel Martinelli – 8
      Poked past Allison for Arsenal’s opener and a brilliant cross for Jesus to nod home.
      Had Alexander-Arnold on toast in the first half and was constant outlet on the break on the left. Pick of the attackers.

      Led the line brilliantly, holding up the ball and giving Van Dijk something to think about.
