    And supporters, especially from Bayern, seem baffled that the Bundesliga champions could pursue the 27-year-old.
    Thomach Tuchel’s German giants had been linked with West Ham skipper Declan Rice and even Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
    But Arsenal are closing on £100million-rated England midfielder Rice.
    And Chelsea are favourites to land Caicedo as the Gunners’ interest wanes.

    One fan posted: “Imagine that your club wants to buy Rice or Caicedo and at the end of the day you get this guy…”
    Another wrote: “Hmmm… Bayern are moving weird .”
    And a third was even more aghast.

    Forgotten Arsenal cult hero on verge of completing free transfer to third club in a YEAR since leaving Gunners

    FORMER Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is set to complete his THIRD transfer in just NINE MONTHS as he prepares to return to Real Betis.The Spanish right-back, 28, left the Emirates last summer after more than a decade with the club.

    He played 239 times for the North London outfit, winning three FA Cups.
    But his Arsenal exit began a tumultuous 12 months for Bellerin.
    In September, he agreed to join Barcelona – who he left for Arsenal as a youth-team player.
    And things did not turn out how he would have hoped at the Nou Camp.

    Bellerin had totalled just 141 minutes by January and was shipped out of the club after just four months.
    He signed for Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon where he made 13 appearances, scoring one goal.
    But at the end of the season he was released as he searched for another new path.
    And now Fabrizio Romano is reporting that he is “on the verge” of joining LaLiga side Real Betis – with parties simply “waiting for paperwork”.

    ARSENAL are leading Manchester United and Newcastle in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to reports.The Gunners were pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City this season, despite topping the table for 248 days.

    Mikel Arteta is now eager to strengthen his squad in a bid to compete for the trophy once again next campaign.
    And according to French outlet L’Equipe, Diaby has emerged as a top target.
    Arsenal have recently moved themselves into pole position to sign the winger, who is also being monitored by Newcastle and Man Utd.
    Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be interested.

    Bayer Leverkusen reportedly want around £65million for Diaby.
    However, the Gunners could attempt to negotiate a cheaper deal, with Granit Xhaka already set to join the Bundesliga side this summer.

    The North London side submitted a bid worth £90m on Thursday morning, but it was immediately rejected.

    French winger Moussa Diaby is the latest target to emerge as a potential signing.
    L’Equipe report that Arsenal have moved ahead of Newcastle in the race to sign the Bayer Leverkusen star.
    Diaby is said to have changed his mind to now prefer a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, with the club now in pole position for his signature.
    Newcastle have been targeting Diaby for the last 18 months and remain interested, although they have never been the player’s priority.

    RMC Sport add that Arsenal made an offer for the 23-year-old on the final day of the 2022 summer window.
    Diaby has two years remaining on his deal in Germany and scored 14 goals in 48 matches last term.
    The news of Arsenal’s pursuit of the France international comes as Mikel Arteta’s side close in on two other signings.
    Chelsea forward Kai Havertz is understood to be “very close” to moving across London to the Emirates Stadium.

    Following a breakthrough season on loan at Stade Reims in Ligue 1, interest is thought to be high in the 21-year-old.
    Balogun scored 22 goals in 39 appearances in France and finished fifth in the league’s scoring charts.
    His form for Reims has caught the eye of several European clubs, with reports in Italy claiming Inter are interested in the forward.
    According to Gazzetta Italia, talks have taken place between the club’s sporting director Piero Ausilio, agents and Arsenal staff.

    Further discussions have also been scheduled before Ausilio returns to Italy as the Champions League finalists pursue a deal.

    Alessia Russo to LEAVE Man Utd as Arsenal ‘prepare shock transfer swoop for England star’

    ALESSIA RUSSO is leaving Manchester United this summer with the striker thought to be nearing a transfer to Arsenal as a free agent. The England ace, 24, confirmed her departure via a tweet describing her exit as the “hardest decision” she has ever had to make.

    The Kent-born Lioness is claimed to have attracted interest from US top-flight side Washington Spirit, according to ESPN.
    However it is thought a move to the National Women’s Soccer League is not on the cards.
    And various reports claim the player is closing in on a switch to the Gunners’ WSL side who reportedly had two record-breaking bids knocked back in January. 
    Russo’s exit from Man United comes three years after she joined them in September 2020.

    The striker, who is part of the Lionesses squad competing at the World Cup this summer, is among the players who shone during England’s Euros triumph last year. 
    Russo netted four goals in the contest coming off the bench in all six games for the Lionesses. 
    Efforts included a stunning backheel nutmegged finish during the team’s semi-final defeat of Sweden.

    This season saw her help United reach the Women’s FA Cup final for the first time in their history.  
    And she also scored the winner that saw the team become the first side to beat Arsenal at the Emirates in the WSL last November.
    Russo’s journey into football began with her playing for the Under-10s of grassroots club Bearsted FC before spells in the academies of Charlton and Chelsea. 
    She made her senior debut at club level for Chelsea in 2016 before spells at Brighton and US college side North Carolina Tar Heels from  January 2017 to August 2020. 
    Last season Russo finished as United’s joint top scorer in the WSL with 10 goals and one assist in 20 games.
    Red Devils boss Marc Skinner had hoped to keep her with talks reported to be ongoing last season.
    It has been claimed the club had not initally meet Russo’s wage demands until the late stages of talks concerning a new deal.

    Caicedo previously revealed his desire to join Arsenal in a shock statement at the beginning of the year.
    But the Gunners have since withdrawn their interest.
    And according to football journalist Florian Plettenberg, he now wants to join Chelsea.

    Caicedo is said to be in the final stages of negotiations with the Blues.
    Brighton are reportedly demanding £70-£80million for the midfielder, but owner Tony Bloom has claimed that he is worth £120m.

    The Gunners had a bid worth £90m rejected on Thursday morning, but they have since gone back in with another offer worth £100m.
