I’m an Arsenal legend and World Cup winner… now I’m planning a record-breaking music festival at F1 track

HE’S a former World Cup winner that has played for Arsenal and Bayern Munich. And since leaving the Premier League in 2015 he’s had a jet-setting career that has seen him play in Turkey, Japan and now in Poland at the age of 38.

But the former Arsenal forward, who scored 31 goals in 82 games for the Gunners, has made an unusual job choice as he enters the twilight of his footballing career.
The former German international is organising a four-day music festival called Glucksgefuhle which translates to Happy Feelings.
The festival will take place on the legendary F1 track Hockenheim.
Over 100,000 fans are expected to attend between September 14 and 17.

Acts will include top DJs Steve Aoki and Paul van Dyk, as well as ATB – who had a UK No.1 with “9 PM (Till I Come).”
If the German, Polish and Arsenal links didn’t give it away yet, the answer to the mystery player turned festival organiser is of course… Lukas Podolski.
The Polish-born German forward helped Arsenal end their nine year trophy drought as part of the squad that won the 2014 FA Cup.
That summer, he was also part of the Germany squad that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He made 130 appearances for the German national team before retiring in 2017.
Now 38, he plays in his native Poland for Gornik Zabrze.
Despite his advancing age he returned six goals and ten assists in 29 appearances this season.
On organising the massive festival alongside his playing career, Podolski told German outlet Bild: “The last few years have taken a great toll on everyone, and times are still tough.
“It’s for this reason we want to offer people a bit of time out with this festival.
“We want to look at lots of happy faces at the Hockenheim circuit.  People should have the chance to switch off for a couple of days.”

Not only will Podolski be appearing at the festival, he says he will be taking up a job as a grill master at the event alongside organising it.
The festival has drawn comparisons with California’s annual Coachella mega-event.
A host of German music stars are due to perform, and funfairs, football tournaments and yoga classes are also planned to take place. More

Fulham set eye-watering price for Palhinha transfer with West Ham wanting him to replace Arsenal-bound Declan Rice

FULHAM have set their price for star man Joao Palhinha amid interest from West Ham.The Hammers are reportedly exploring the idea of signing Palhinha with Declan Rice looking increasingly likely to leave for Arsenal.
Joao Palhinha had a stunning first season for Fulham and is of interest to West Ham
West Ham are looking to replace captain Declan Rice who is being chased by Arsenal
But it won’t be an easy task to sign the Portuguese star with Fulham slapping a massive price tag on their prized midfielder.
According to the Mail Online, Fulham will demand a whopping £90million.
It’s suggested that West Ham are not willing to splash that much cash on the Portugal international, but could test Fulham’s resolve with an offer around £50million.
Palhinha, 27, only signed for The Cottagers last summer, but has impressed since his £20million transfer from Sporting Lisbon.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
He made 40 appearances for Fulham in his debut season, scoring four times and racking up more yellow cards in the Premier League than any other player.
Palhinha was widely considered one of the top players in the league last season and was vital to Fulham’s success.
It is reported that Fulham have used West Ham’s £100million valuation of Rice as the benchmark for Palhinha’s price.
Rice has been the subject of two bids from Arsenal over the past week, but both have been rejected by The Hammers.

The Gunners’ failure to meet West Ham’s £100million valuation is set to open the door for other clubs, including United.
And, according to The Telegraph, United are eyeing up a move.
But they won’t pay either, instead offering a player-plus-cash deal.
Such a move would reportedly involve either Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay, who are both up for sale at Old Trafford.

However, Maguire’s wages are believed to be a potential issue, whilst it is unclear whether McTominay wants to join the Hammers.
United’s interest in a potential swap deal comes after Arsenal saw their second bid for Rice rejected on Tuesday.
Mikel Arteta’s side had lodged another offer as they chase Rice’s signature, but it again fell short of West Ham’s sky-high valuation.
The bid is said to have been worth a total of £90million, consisting of £75m plus £15m in add-ons spread over five years.

Despite the bid being rejected, Arsenal are still hopeful, with personal terms not an issue, and are expected to return with a third bid.
Manchester City have also been rumoured as a possible destination for Rice, but the treble winners are yet to make an approach.

Their cross-city rivals United could bid, though, as Erik ten Hag looks to overhaul his midfield.
Rice’s pal Mason Mount is also linked with the Red Devils, who are thought to be preparing another bid for the Chelsea star.
Departures are also expected in the position, with Fred the latest to be linked with a move amid interest from Fulham. More

Adidas ‘STOP sale of Arsenal’s new home kit after fans spot embarrassing blunder in the Invincibles detail’

ADIDAS have reportedly stopped selling Arsenal’s new home kit after fans spotted a blunder in its design. The kit manufacturer is claimed to have made an embarrassing blunder on the authentic version of the home shirt for the next Premier League season.

But fans have spotted an error in the design of the authentic versionCredit: https://twitter.com/afcstuff
Arsenal released their new stunning kit back in May and it was revealed that there would be a hidden nod to the Invincibles from the Premier League 2003-04 campaign.
This was the year that under Arsene Wenger the Gunners managed to win the league title without losing a single league game.
And the new shirt was set to pay homage to that achievement 20 years on with stitching on the white trim on the side.
The record of 26 wins and 12 draws was supposed to have been stitched into the side of the jersey in the order of each result.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
However eagle-eyed fans have spotted that there has been an issue in the design.
This is because they think that only 32 of the 38 league results have been featured on the shirt.
The last four games of the season draws against Portsmouth and Birmingham as well as two wins from the six-game winning run have been missed off.

One fan wrote: “Both of mine only have 32. Bit confusing why they have done this. Surely must be an error by @adidasfootball and @Arsenal.”

A second noted: “£110 for that kit should be spot on it’s beyond a joke how they have got it wrong.”
A third said: “Pretty disappointing but put it this way. If they reproduce (highly doubt it) to show all 38, then the ‘32 fixture’ shirt will be a rarity and collectible!”
The shirt has since not been available to buy from Adidas or Arsenal via their websites.
On the Arsenal site the item the shirt appears to be to say that stock is “coming soon”.
Whereas on the Adidas site, there is only the option to buy the standard version and not the authentic one.
Arsenal confirmed a design error with the shirt as they reached out to fans waiting for their new shirts.
In an email seen by SunSport, the club wrote: “We’ve become aware of a design error with the current 23/24 Authentic Home Shirt. Consequently, we’re unfortunately unable to fulfill your order at this time.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and will be cancelling and refunding your order in full.

    Olivier Giroud
French striker Olivier Giroud won three FA Cups with Arsenal before going on to have even more success at Chelsea.

    David Luiz
David Luiz had two spells with Chelsea either side of a move to Paris Saint-Germain, making 248 appearances and winning three European trophies as well as a league title.
However, his move to Arsenal in 2019 proved less fruitful as he was sent off three times in just 73 matches before departing after two years.
    Lassana Diarra
Another Frenchman to appear for both Arsenal and Chelsea, Lassana Diarra made just 43 combined appearances for the two clubs.
Signed by Chelsea as a 20-year-old in 2005, he moved to Arsenal two years later but would last less than five months before he was sold to Portsmouth.

    Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas remains Arsenal’s youngest ever player after scoring in the League Cup aged just 16 years, six months and 28 days old.
He would go on to captain the club before leaving for Barcelona in 2011. Fabregas returned to England with Chelsea three years later and won two league titles in four-and-a-half seasons in West London.
    Nicolas Anelka
Prolific French striker Nicolas Anelka was just 17 when he joined Arsenal in 1997 but still scored 28 times and won the Double before being sold two years later.
Chelsea would later sign a 28-year-old Anelka in 2008, with the forward winning the golden boot in his first full season and a league title in 2010.
    Yossi Benayoun
Chelsea signed Israeli midfielder Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool in 2010 but failed to get the best out of him as he notched just one goal in 24 appearances.
A loan move to Arsenal for the 2011/12 campaign proved more successful, though, as he scored six goals in just two extra matches.
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Another player to have differing fortunes at Arsenal and Chelsea, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners.

After just six months in Spain he returned to London last summer, signing for Chelsea, but has scored just three goals since.
    Emmanuel Petit

The Gunners are reportedly leading Premier League rivals Newcastle and Manchester United in the race to sign Diaby, who recently emerged as a target.
