Ex-Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey tells Mikel Arteta that Folarin Balogun is ready to shine after loan spell

Ex-Gunners star and Nice midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who faced Balogun twice in France last term, reckons boss Mikel Arteta should keep hold of the 21-year-old.
Balogun — who has attracted interest from West Ham, Crystal Palace and RB Leipzig — swapped representing England for the USA in May but Ramsey does not want the £35million-rated forward to make a club move too.
The ace has a deal with Arsenal for another two years and is due to report back for pre-season next month.
Ramsey said: “He’s a very good player. We played against him a couple of times and, from what I saw, he’s a very exciting player.

“Arsenal have many great players but he’s definitely got the quality. He’s good enough for the Premier League.”
Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus scored 11 in 33 Arsenal games following his £45million move from Manchester City and Eddie Nketiah bagged nine goals in 39 outings in all competitions.
The Gunners have agreed a £65m deal for Chelsea’s Kai Havertz whileArteta’s side, who finished second in the Prem last season, are also battling City for Hammers star Declan Rice.
But Rambo — who won the FA Cup with the Gunners three times in 2014, 2015 and 2017 — reckons the fact they have tied stars Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to new long-term deals is just as important as transfers.

Influential defender William Saliba, 22, has also agreed a fresh contract in principle to remain in North London.
The strategy is different from Rambo’s 11-year stay at Arsenal whenthe club lost key players such as Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Alexis Sanchez.
Ramsey, 32, added: “To get them to commit is massive. They have had unbelievable seasons and it’s great they will still be there, hopefully to kick on again.”
Ramsey is weighing up his own future, saying he would love to rejoinboyhood club Cardiff ‘one day’ after failing to agree a new deal at Nice.
Talks between Ramsey and the French club are ongoing but theWales captain ruled out Saudi Arabia.
When asked if a big-money switch to Saudi would be of interest, Ramsey, speaking at the opening of Cruyff Court Aaron Ramsey at the Trinity Fields School near his home town of Caerphilly, he said: “No, there’s a lot more things to go on before that.”
“I’m enjoying my time off with my family and we’ll make the right decision together.
“There’s a few discussions to be had over the next few weeks.
“For what Nice have given me and the opportunity to represent them over the last year has been unbelievable. They have given me a lot of playing time.
“Of course, I’m very respectful to that and we will see what happens over the next few weeks.”
Gulf state Saudi is threatening to muscle in on Europe’s bigger leagues by making big-name signings this summer.
But Ramsey, who had three years at Juventus where he won Serie A, reckons there is still some way for them to go before they challenge the likes of Serie A.
Ramsey said: “Serie A was a very demanding league. There was a lot of quality in and many big European teams.
“It’s a very competitive and tough league to be involved in. The Italian teams have definitely had a good season.  They had three teams in European finals plus Napoli winning Serie A.

Arsenal remain locked in talks with West Ham for the £100m signature of Declan Rice, with a third bid imminent.
And they also believe they will find a compromise with Ajax for £50m-rated Jurrien Timber after an opening £30m bid for the Dutch defender was rejected.
SunSport understands talks are progressing and while the Gunners are not willing to meet the asking price, there is a belief a deal can be struck.
While Havertz’s switch from Stamford Bridge is a  formality, there are nerves among Arsenal supporters over the prospect of  signing Rice.

West Ham hope that Manchester City will act on their long-standing interest in the England midfielder, though they are yet to receive a bid from the Treble winners.
That leaves the door open for Arsenal to move in with a third offer matching the Hammers’ £100m valuation before City make an approach.
David Moyes’ West Ham have so far rejected offers totalling £75m and £90m for Rice, though sources at the London Stadium believe the saga is  reaching its “end game”.
Rice would still prefer a move to the Emirates, with the Hammers captain keen to stay in London.

And with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta hoping to have both Havertz and Rice in the door sooner rather than later, the Spaniard is also looking to bolster his defence.
Arsenal have already had one £30m offer for 22-year-old Timber knocked back, with Ajax holding out for up to £50m as Manchester United circle.
A summer spend in excess of £200m would set a new club record for Arsenal in one window.
Arteta, whose long-time Premier League leaders  eventually finished second  behind City, is keen to clear a few players from the squad.
Granit Xhaka, Cedric Soares and Nicolas Pepe are all set to depart, while Thomas Partey is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. More

But it is understood that Dutch side Ajax are most likely to win the race for Guler if Fenerbahce fail to persuade him to sign a new contract.
The 18-year-old had enhanced his reputation with a stunning goal for Turkey against Wales in last week’s Euro 2024 qualifier victory.
The teenager recorded six goals and seven assists in 35 appearances for Fener last season.
He has two years left on his current contract, which is thought to include a £15million release clause.

I’m a Stoke legend – here are the two simple tricks we used to intimidate Arsenal in the tunnel before matches

STOKE CITY were once Arsenal’s bogey team – but they used to get under the skin of their Prem rivals before they even took to the pitch. The Potters gave the Premier League giants a torrid tussle each and every time they welcomed them to Britannia Stadium.

Ex-Potter Rory Delap has revealed they used to get under the skin of the Gunners by standing tall and stamping their feet in the dressing roomCredit: AFP
Former Stoke gaffer Tony Pulis guided his old side to three of their six wins over the Gunners during their ten-year stint in the Prem.
Arsenal were often accused of failing to turn up for their trips to Staffordshire – with some critics going as far as to say they were intimidated before they took to the pitch.
The retired Rory Delap was part of several Stoke sides who were victorious in the tempestuous and tasty matches.
And he’s revealed they were instructed to rile up Arsene Wenger’s troops by standing tall and stamping on their studs before they walked out of the tunnel.

The 46-year-old told The Sport Bible: “I think the thing was during that period they had such good players.
“But they probably didn’t have characters like your Tony Adams, Steve Bould, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp.
“I think in that period, they had really good players so when you played Arsenal at the Emirates, it was a completely different game.
“It was when they played at Stoke, we made no bones about it, we had to make the best of what we had.

“I could remember the manager said, ‘When you’re in the tunnel, stamp your studs and stand on your tiptoes.’
“At that stage, we had players like Rob Huth, Ryan Shawcross, myself, Glen Whelan and Mama Sidibe, so we were a big side and it was intimidating.”
Delap – who retired from footie in 2013 – admits he himself would’ve been rattled by his former team-mates’ pre-match tunnel tactics.
He said: “It’s intimidating when you come down the tunnel and you see lads a couple of inches taller than you.
“It has to be, you know what I mean?”
Gunners legend Arsene Wenger often left the Britannia with a headacheCredit: ACTION IMAGES
Gunners icon Wenger wasn’t afraid to voice his fury at perceived wrongs when his troops came up short at the Britannia.
The Frenchman also wasn’t shy to voice his displeasure with the Potters before their clashes.
And one pre-match complaint lives long in the memory of Delap.

He recalled: “I think Wenger moaned about the length of the grass before a game once.
