Arsenal ‘to be offered Christian Eriksen in swap transfer for Granit Xhaka’ after ex-Spurs star’s flop Inter spell

INTER MILAN are keen to offer Arsenal a swap deal involving Christian Eriksen and Granit Xhaka, reports say.
Eriksen arrived in Milan last January after he forced through an exit from Tottenham.

The Dane was considered a coup for Inter but he has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Antonio Conte’s side, making just four starts this season.
As a result, his future at the San Siro appears up in the air with Inter said to already be open to selling.
According to Tuttosport, Inter will look to recoup £27million for the playmaker, but a swap deal is a possible alternative.
It is added that they could offer Eriksen, 28, to Arsenal in a bid to land Xhaka, also 28, in exchange.

But it is understood the former Spurs star would have reservations over a move to their arch rivals.
And he is also opposed to a loan move having struggled to settle in Italy.
Eriksen’s ex-Denmark manager Age Hareide previosuly blasted Conte’s ‘completely wrong’ treatment of the midfielder.
He said: “First of all, I think it’s a shame for Christian.

“But I also think it’s completely wrong that Conte is keeping him out so much.
“In my opinion, he is good enough to play for Inter.
“He proved to be an important player, both for Denmark and for Tottenham in the Premier League, where he was a key player.
“Christian and his agent need to figure this out. But it is clear that the situation is in no way optimal.”

Watch Arsenal outcast Matteo Guendouzi score 25-yard screamer into top corner for Hertha Berlin as parent club struggle

ARSENAL outcast Matteo Guendouzi scored a 25-yard screamer into the top corner for Hertha Berlin.
The on-loan midfielder received the ball on the edge of the box against Borussia Monchengladbach and arrowed into the roof of the net.

But it was not enough to earn his club all three points, as Breel Embolo equalised with 20 minutes to go.
It leaves Hertha Berlin 11th in the league, with champions Bayern Munich leading RB Leipzig by goal difference.
Guendouzi has made six appearances since moving to Germany for the season.
The Frenchman was cast aside by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta following his spat with Neal Maupay in the fiery 2-1 defeat to Brighton in June.

Guendouzi then sealed a move to Hertha on Deadline Day, after a recommendation from Gunners academy boss, Per Mertesacker.
Sporting director Arne Friedrich has raved about Guendouzi’s impact, while also highlighting Mertesacker’s role in the transfer.
He said: “He’s a fantastic player.
“We spoke to Arsenal before the transfer obviously, and I also spoke to Per Mertesacker, with whom I played in the national team.

“Our relationship is very honest, very transparent, and he had already said that he has such good quality and he’s showed it already.
“From the first day when he came here to Germany onwards, he had to go into quarantine, I don’t know what happened, I think either him or someone else tested positive so he had to sit in the hotel for the first two weeks here in a brand new city.
“He was so professional and we brought him some gear, a bike to work on and he was really, really ambitious to get on the field as soon as possible.
“Ever since, every day he shows in practice what a good player he is.
“He’s so calm. He wants every single ball, even under pressure. He has his own understanding that he wants to win games.
“He has this intrinsic motivation to just show the world how good he is. This is what we need, this is what everybody needs and he is highly confident, which is also very important for our team because our team is still looking for structure.
“We are very, very happy to have him here and he’s worth every penny.”

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil leaning towards DC United transfer offer over Italy and Qatar to manage his businesses in USA

ARSENAL outcast Mesut Ozil is reportedly now leaning towards a move to DC United – where he can better manage his business activities.
The German has been frozen out at the Emirates after he was excluded from the club’s Premier League and Europa League squads.

And with his contract expiring at the end of the season, suitors are now lining up to register their interest in Ozil.
According to DHA, Washington’s DC United are the latest to offer the 32-year-old a fresh proposal.
It is claimed Ozil is ‘most serious’ about a move to America over anything else as it could offer him the chance to expand his off-filed ventures.
The midfielder is said to believe that the e-sports team M10 Esports and his own M10 Streetwear collection will better manage their business activities Stateside.

In addition, DC United have reportedly offered Ozil the chance to establish an M10 Football Academy in the US, something he is keen on following up on.
Despite the development, the former Real Madrid star is also said to have offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Meanwhile, Turkish giants Fenerbahce were linked with a January move for Ozil.

Fenerbahce’s club congress member Murat Zorlu claims Ozil is closing in on a move in January.

He told Sport Digitale: “A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.
“I would say 90 per cent he will join us in one month.”
The former Germany international has family roots from Turkey despite representing Die Mannschaft 92 times, winning the World Cup in 2014.
He is also close friends with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and has been accused of endorsing his bid for re-election.
The playmaker has not featured for the North London club since March 7.
But he was still locked in a war of words with loud mouth Piers Morgan on Monday after Ozil posted a picture of himself in front of thousands of fans at the Emirates.

He added the caption: “The feeling of having fans behind you… #grateful #bestfans #hardtimes.”
The Good Morning Britain presenter, who is an Arsenal fan, was quick to respond saying: “Real Arsenal fans aren’t behind you.
“You’re our Paul Pogba – massively overpaid, massively under-performing & shockingly overinflated sense of your own importance. #truth.”
Ozil then hit back: “Piers, buddy, are you still bitter from the other day? It seems like you’re not a big fan of World Champions.
“I wish you would see as good as you hear things.”

Arsenal stars hold ‘angry’ clear-the-air-talks over poor start to season with ‘stormy and intense’ finger-pointing

ARSENAL players allegedly exchanged angry words with each other in a clear-the-air meeting called by manager Mikel Arteta, reports claim.
Arteta is said to have brought his squad together on Tuesday to discuss the reasons behind their poor run of form, which leaves them 14th in the Premier League after being beaten in their last three home league matches.

According to ESPN, the Emirates boss addressed his team and revealed he is still investigating the source of leaks that led to Dani Ceballos and David Luiz’s training ground bust-up becoming public.
It is claimed after Arteta concluded the initial meeting, the players stayed which caused an impromptu second discussion, which was described as ‘stormy’ and ‘intense’.
The follow up chat is said to have involved ‘angry but constructive dialogue’ with ‘finger-pointing and raised voices’.
But eventually it reportedly ended ‘amicably’ with everyone involved desperate to rally behind and back manager Arteta with improved performances.

Arsenal refused to comment when asked by SunSport.
Despite rumours of training ground unrest, the Gunners fired themselves back into winning ways having thumped Rapid Vienna 4-1 on Thursday in front of a limited home crowd.
Arteta is hopeful the win in Europe can lift his side as they prepare to travel to top of the table Tottenham in Sunday’s North London derby.

He told Sky Sports: “I think it is the perfect game to get a lift, regenerate some belief in the league because in the other competitions we have been very good but we need a big result and I cannot think about any better scenario than that: to go and beat them and change things dramatically in one game.

“Obviously there is a difference now between the teams in terms of points, we know the game that we are expecting.
“They are in good form at the moment, they have been getting really good results and I see a team that is convinced of what they are doing.
“But we are going to go there to try and win the game.”

Gunnersaurus BACK at Emirates after unpopular axe as much-loved mascot entertains 2,000 returning Arsenal fans

ARSENAL mascot Gunnersaurus returned from extinction to once again grace the Emirates – along with 2,000 Gooners.
But it is believed to be a new man in the dinosaur costume after stalwart Jerry Quy got the boot after 27 years.

Gunnersaurus joined a small group of lucky Gunners fans to watch Mikel Arteta’s side beat Rapid Vienna 4-1 – the first time they had entertained a live audience in nine months.
He received a warm welcome from those fortunate enough to have a ticket, as Arsenal made the most of their Tier 2 status following the end of England’s coronavirus lockdown on Wednesday.
The PA announcer welcomed the club’s mascot back before mask-wearing fans belted out ‘There’s only one Gunnersaurus’ in the still largely vacant stadium.
Supporters on Twitter even praised his homecoming for helping inspire the team to victory.

One said: “Gunnersaurus returns and liquid football quickly follows. Coincidence? I think not.”
The Gunners’ much-loved mascot looked like he might not ever get to do another Emirates lap after club chiefs incredibly ditched him in October to cut costs.
The decision irked celebs such as Piers Morgan and Holly Willoughby and caused a widespread outcry of disbelief.
Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil even offered to pay the beloved dino’s wages to keep him on the books in North London.

But to the relief of football fans, Gunnersaurus was brought back from furlough in November.
But Quy – who had manned the get-up since the mascot’s 1993 inception – is no longer in the role, according to his son.
Daniel Quy fumed that the Gunners didn’t reciprocate the class his dad – who voluntarily carried out the job for 14 years – had shown as a loyal servant and employee.
In a statement released on Twitter last month, he said: “In response to the pandemic, Arsenal FC decided they would include the role of Gunnersaurus as part of their cost-cutting redundancy exercise, owing to the lack of matchdays and community opportunities.
“Unfortunately, Arsenal were unable to find a suitable way to include my Dad in their ‘new normal’ part-time plans, or even offer him the chance to hand over his legacy. Perhaps they see him as an extinct dinosaur after all!
“To ‘act with class’ is an Arsenal value that I remember well from my time working at the club, and my Dad certainly honoured that. However, I don’t feel this was reciprocated in how his journey ended.”
