Watch blundering Arsenal’s latest howler as Granit Xhaka gifts Burnley goal by smashing ball against Chris Wood

GRANIT XHAKA provided Arsenal’s latest howler as he gifted Burnley a goal by smashing the ball against Chris Wood.
The Gunners were leading thanks to an opener from skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just six minutes in.

And Arsenal’s backline and keeper Bernd Leno had barely been tested before Xhaka’s shock gaffe.
Leno passed to the Swiss international in his own box, and the ex-captain attempted to play it across goal to David Luiz.
But Xhaka hammered it right at Wood, with the ball deflecting off the striker and into the net.
Fans were left in disbelief following the horror show as stopper Leno also came under fire.

One said: “Why would the keeper pass to a player in his own box who had a player marking him crazy decision.
“It’s amazing that basic safety is being completely ignored nowadays.”
Another said: “Leno should have cleared it instead of the stupid tippy tappy passing. He is the one that can see up the pitch, not Xhaka.”

That ball from the keeper is the most ridiculous pass 😂

Why should Leno not give the ball to Xhaka here? Xhaka should take it on his right and pass to Mari as he moves into the space or pass first time to Luiz. You can’t ask your team to play out and then criticise the keeper because his team mate doesn’t do the basics here. pic.twitter.com/tP2WxF5Kgi

That’s why Xhaka isn’t good enough. Even when he’s in good form he still makes mistakes.
    — viørel (@viorel433) March 6, 2021

But standing up for Leno, one argued: “Why should Leno not give the ball to Xhaka here?
“Xhaka should take it on his right and pass to Mari as he moves into the space or pass first time to Luiz.
“You can’t ask your team to play out and then criticise the keeper because his team mate doesn’t do the basics here.”
Xhaka, 28, has become a regular under manager Mikel Arteta, since the Spaniard returned to the Emirates in December 2019.
He has also picked up a run of form of late, but the blunder at Turf Moor will be a reminder to fans of his mistake-prone habits.

Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Xhaka has made more errors leading to goals with eight, than any other outfield player in the Premier League.
The Gunners kept ten clean sheets last season, with Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz often liabilities.
But Mustafi has since moved to Schalke on loan, with Luiz enjoying a recent resurgence when not injured.
Arsenal were unable to pull in front again, with the game ending level, but not shy of controversy.
The Gunners believed they had a certain penalty after Nicolas Pepe put the ball past Erik Piters and it struck the defender’s hand.

This is wild 😮Incredible defending from Burnley’s Erik Pieters on the goal line…He’s shown a red card for handball, but the decision is overturned! pic.twitter.com/mtfDP1XfeY
    — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) March 6, 2021

But the Premier League told SunSport: “The ball has hit him from close proximity and he’s had no time to react.
“It wasn’t given on-field and the VAR didn’t think it was a clear error.”
Arsenal were later awarded a penalty with Pepe and Piters AGAIN involved.
The Gunners’ record signing smashed a volley from inside the box towards goal and somehow Piters blocked it onto the bar.
Initially, he was shown a red card with a penalty awarded, but VAR overruled with replay’s revealing it struck his shoulder.

Arsenal ‘tell Matteo Guendouzi he’s played last game for club and WILL be sold in £25m transfer this summer’ after loan

ARSENAL have told Matteo Guendouzi he has played his last game for the club and will be sold in the summer, reports say.
The Frenchman was shipped on loan to Hertha Berlin in Germany at the start of the season.

It came after Guendouzi fell out with manager Mikel Arteta, when the Spaniard returned to the Emirates in 2019.
Arsenal looked at selling the midfielder in the summer, offering him in swap deals.
But they had to settle for a loan, with Guendouzi since making 18 appearances for Hertha.
He has impressed in the Bundesliga, sparking hope he could return to Arsenal once his spell away expires.

But according to Football Insider, Arteta has no plans in bringing Guendouzi back into his squad.
And Arsenal are even said to be dropping his price tag from £30million to £25m in an attempt to attract buyers.
But with the 21-year-old entering the final year of his contract at the end of this season, the Gunners could struggle to move him on.
Recently, Guendouzi has started three of the last four on the bench.

Hertha boss Pal Dardai told Bild last month: “It’s like puberty for him, he’s kind of a rebel. He has to work and learn like an animal.”
Guendouzi burnt his bridges with Arteta following a bust-up at a Dubai training camp in February last year.
And after a red card in an altercation with Brighton’s Neal Maupay last season, the rebel was not seen in the Premier League again.

Arsenal announce £48m losses including £10.4m Emery axing but club did trim wages by £500k to £234.5m in financial year

ARSENAL lost almost £48million in the last financial year – in a downturn blamed on the coronavirus pandemic.
Figures announced on Friday revealed the second year in a row that the club has suffered a loss following 18 consecutive years in profit.

Yet the true extent of the economic meltdown is still to be told, with today’s accounts running only to the end of May 2020.
The Gunners’ pre-tax losses amounted to £47.8m, rising from £27.1m in the previous year.
Much of the deficit was caused by slashed matchday revenue, where Arsenal are among Europe’s top earners, although commercial earnings rose by £32m.
Playing behind closed doors at any empty Emirates cost £14m in lost gate revenue and the club also lost out on £34m of broadcasting cash, which was deferred to the current financial year.

There was a further £6m drop in TV money as a result of going out of the Europa League in the first knock-round having reached the final the previous year.
A sum of £10.4m went to paying off the contracts of former boss Unai Emery and his coaching staff, and in compensation to Manchester City for replacement Mikel Arteta.

The club did manage to make a £19m saving on wages from the 12.5 per cent pay cut imposed on the players, which was later reduced to 7.5 per cent as a result of winning the FA Cup.

That meant the annual wage bill remained unchanged from the previous year at £234m.
And the club decreased its directors’ wages with the £2.85m total down from £4m the previous year.
But the elongation of the pandemic may lead to these figures being minor in comparison to the current financial year.
Victories in the FA Cup and Community Shield boosted morale around Emirates Stadium, while keeping Arteta’s side in Europe.
Big wages were then handed out to new signing Willian and club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, amid deals to sign Gabriel Magalhaes, Thomas Partey and Pablo Mari in a busy summer of spending.

And there was fan outrage at a raft of staff redundancies, including the man behind the Gunnersaurus mascot.
The club were able to get shot of Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer before Mesut Ozil, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi eventually left too.
Arsenal then took out a £120m Bank of England loan in January of this year, repayable later this year.
Saturday’s trip to Burnley could see Arteta’s side rise to ninth in the Premier League table, closing the gap to those in the European places.

Arsenal transfer blow as Leicester ‘close in on £15m Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard to succeed Jamie Vardy’

LEICESTER are close to beating Arsenal to Celtic star Odsonne Edouard ahead of the summer transfer window, reports suggest.
According to MailOnline, The Foxes see Edouard as a long-term replacement for legendary centre-forward Jamie Vardy.

The star striker appears keen on reuniting with Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Celtic Park, and a £15million deal is said to be close to being completed.
Leicester boss Rodgers brought the Frenchman to Celtic in 2017 from Paris Saint-Germain, initially on loan.
The 23-year-old has been in sparkling form ever since having amassed a total of 81 goals in 160 appearances.
Edouard continues to impress throughout this season as he has registered 20 goals in 32 matches across all competitions.

Arsenal have also made an enquiry to sign the France under-21s international in the summer.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is looking for new options up front with Alexandre Lacazette likely to depart at the end of the season.
Edouard’s Celtic contract runs out in 2022 and that, along with a sell-on fee of 40 per cent owed to PSG, has led to a reduction on his release clause.

The Hoops initially rated the centre-forward at around £40m but had to cut that down.
Roma are also said to be courting Edouard along with Arsenal and other clubs.
But if the latest reports are accurate, it seems like the Frenchman is on his way to King Power Stadium.

Watch as Arsenal’s Europa League opponents Olympiacos win Greek Cup clash thanks to cheeky goal from Bouchalakis

ARSENAL’S Europa League opponents Olympiacos qualified for the Greek Cup semi-finals thanks to a hilarious late goal.
And the Gunners might want to have a look as it show they will have to be constantly focused when they clash with the same team that threw them out of Europe last year.

Olympiacos ace Andreas Bouchalakis outsmarted Aris goalkeeper Julian Cuesta

Bouchalakis ssnuck up behind the goalkeeper in the Greek Cup

The reigning Greek champions faced Aris in the quarter-finals’ return fixture away on Thursday and were trailing 1-0 following Bruno Gama’s opener that made it 2-2 on aggregate in the hosts’ favour due to the away goals rules.
Time was running out and the Salonika outfit were getting close to a famous victory that would see the Greek giants eliminated from the competition.
But Andreas Bouchalakis saw an opening in the 87th minute.
With Bouchalakis loitering by Aris’ goal, keeper Julian Cuesta failed to check behind him and LITERALLY dropped the ball.

That was when ex-Nottingham Forest ace Bouchalakis seized his opportunity as he sprinted towards the ball to pick it up from an utterly shocked Cuesta and score the goal that took Pedro Martins’ men through to the semi-finals.
The cheeky strike sparked wild celebrations from the Olympiacos players and their staff.

Arsenal are drawn with Olympiacos in the Last 16 of the Europa League and are determined to avoid the same miserable fate they suffered last year.

The Greek giants eliminated Mikel Arteta’s men in the round of 32 thanks to Youssef El Arabi’s late winner in extra-time at the Emirates.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed a sitter that would have got Arsenal through in the very last second of stoppage time.

Olympiacos ace Andreas Bouchalakis’ cheeky goal got his team through to the semi-finals
Olympiacos won 2-1 that night and went through thanks to away-goals rules with an aggregate of 2-2.
The defending Greek champions have proven to have a flare for the dramatic in recent weeks as they made it through to the Last 16 of the Europa League thanks to a late goal by Ahmed Hassan against PSV Eindhoven last month.
The Piraeus outfit also picked up a last-gasp victory over Volos on Monday thanks to ex-Sunderland star Yann M’Vila’s winner.

Alexis Sanchez scores twice in eight minutes in Inter’s win over Parma… as many as he managed in final Man Utd season

INTER MILAN star Alexis Sanchez scored two goals in just eight minutes against Parma away on Thursday.
That’s as many as he managed in his final season at Manchester United across all competitions in the 2018-2019 campaign.

Sanchez opened the scoring for Inter after 54 minutes when he latched on to a loose ball from ex-Old Trafford team-mate Romelu Lukaku.
The ex-United and Arsenal star doubled the Nerazzurri’s lead just eight minutes later thanks to another assist from Lukaku, who is showcasing some sparkling form in the Serie A.
Parma cut the deficit thanks to a close-range finish from Hernani in the 71st minute but that was all the fight they had left against the Serie A table-toppers who won 2-1.
Sanchez celebrated with his team-mates in the dressing room after full-time and shared a picture of their backstage jubilation on Instagram.

The forward has been enjoying a somewhat new lease on life under ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at the San Siro.
The Chile international scored more goals against Parma than he could muster on his final full season at United, where he found the net just once in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
CASINO SIGN UP OFFER: CLAIM UP TO £800 IN CASINO BONUS CASH

Sanchez took the Premier League by storm in 2014 when he joined Arsenal from Barcelona following an impressive World Cup run with Chile.

The 32-year-old went on to net a total of 80 goals in 166 matches throughout his four-year stint at the Emirates.
United signed him mid-season in 2018 thinking they found their next big Old Trafford superstar but the Chilean registered a mere three-goal return across all competitions on his debut campaign.

Following another hapless season with the Red Devils, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to loan him out to Inter where he scored four goals, his best return in two years.
The Serie A giants decided to buy him last summer and he currently counts five goals in 18 league outings this season.
