Arsenal and adidas release new 424 training kit collection ahead of Tottenham clash but fans are blown away by prices

ARSENAL have launched a stunning new training kit with adidas ahead of the North London derby against Spurs.
The Gunners will wear the brand new 424 training get-up on Sunday when they take on Tottenham at the Emirates.

Alexandre Lacazette models the new Arsenal training range

The Gunners have dropped a collaboration with LA brand 424 and adidas

The hoodie will set fans back £100

But the collaboration with the Los Angeles based brand 424 has gone down like a lead balloon with most fans after Gooners raged at the hefty price tags.
With tracksuit bottoms setting fans back £90, a T-shirt £50 and a hoodie £100, many were quick to vent their frustrations online.
Supporters tweeted memes of them getting excited at the eye-catching new designs before being put off by the cost of the new range once they clicked through.
One account wrote: “They don’t deserve my money rn but I’m definitely caring because of wavey this drop is [heart-shaped eyes emoji] looool.”

Another added: “More training kit releases than league wins. Fix up.”
A third supporter questioned the club’s finances and said: “How do you guys release a billion kits that all cost 200 quid and are still somehow always broke in the transfer windows.”
One fan called for the owners to invest and wrote: “New kits every few weeks. I just hope the owners invest in the Club like the fans invest so much into the Arsenal products.
“We’re short of players and have no champion vibes.”

However, it wasn’t all negative feedback with one fan lauding the new drop as they tweeted: “Our kits this year deserved a title.”

Supporters praised the designs but were shocked at how expensive the clothes were

The collection is available to buy from March 16 and will also be worn by Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of the West Ham game on March 21.
Head designer and 424 CEO Guillermo Andrade said: “We continue to see the sporting and fashion worlds collide, and this range is the embodiment of that trend.
“At 424, we make clothes for people to wear on the street – literally streetwear, and collaborating with adidas, to bring streetwear and football together is really exciting.
“Football was my childhood passion, and still something extremely close to my heart.
“Having the chance to create first a formalwear collection, and now this travel and leisure range with my beloved Arsenal is an absolute dream.”

How Arsenal could line up against Olympiacos with Emile Smith-Rowe close to return and North London derby on horizon

MIKEL ARTETA has a squad selection dilemma with revenge and North London bragging rights on the line in the same week.
Arsenal travel to Olympiacos on Thursday for the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie.

How Arsenal could line up against Olympiacos

The Greek side last season knocked the Gunners out of the same tournament, with a last-gasp winner.
But the Emirates boss will be mindful in playing his best 11, as they host rivals Tottenham just three days later.
Arteta said: “We have a massive week with the next four games that we have in a short period.
“We have to manage the squad but obviously the main game is tomorrow and we have to focus on that.

“Tomorrow’s game is going to help us for the weekend, it’s going to help us for next week. We have to focus on tomorrow.”
The only doubt for Olympiacos is playmaker Emile Smith-Rowe, who missed Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Burnley last weekend.
Arteta said: “Yes, he’s close to returning and he’s going to have a full session today to see if he can be involved in tomorrow’s game.
“After training we will know exactly where we are with him.”

Bernd Leno can expect to keep his place between the posts, with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney at full-back.
David Luiz has partnered Pablo Mari for the last three matches, with Gabriel dropped to the bench.
But the Brazilian is fit and available to pair with countryman Luiz if Arteta rotates his backline.
Granit Xhaka has formed a formidable partnership with summer signing Thomas Partey.
But the ex-skipper was at fault at Turf Moor, with Dani Ceballos – who started Arsenal’s last game in Europe – a potential replacement if needed.
Going forward, Willian and Bukayo Saka have both impressed of late, so too has Nicolas Pepe.
All three will be in contention to start in Greece, but also face the prospect of being rested ahead of the derby with Spurs.
Skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played centrally recently, but could also be shifted out wide if needed.
It would allow striker Alexandre Lacazette to return, while giving others the chance to catch a breather on the bench.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s loss to Olympiacos last year ’emotionally drained us’ and he’s out to put it right this time

MIKEL ARTETA admitted defeat to Olympiacos last year ’emotionally drained’ Arsenal – but they are now out to put it right.
The Gunners were knocked out of the Europa League last season on away goals, having won the first leg 1-0, but losing the second 2-1 at the Emirates.

A late Youssef El-Arabi winner, and last-gasp miss from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, made the result all the more painful.
But by chance, Arsenal have an immediate opportunity for revenge, by returning the favour and dumping Olympiacos – who they play on Thursday – out of Europe.
Arteta said: “Obviously it was a really tough one to swallow. The way it happened at the end, it was really cruel.
“After everything we did in the two games, to lose the way we did and with the late chance Auba had.

“But we moved on. We have some feelings towards that team and we want to put it right in the next round.
“Emotionally it really drained us because it was a rollercoaster during the game and with what happened, it could have ended in a beautiful way, but it ended in a really harsh way for us.
“I think emotionally it took some time to get the team and some individuals lifted because it really hurt.”
Arteta is confident his side – who sit tenth in the league – are a better outfit than they were the last time they took on Olympiacos.

He said: “I think we are a better team than we were last year.
“Looking back at the two games that we played and the way we are playing now, I think we have come a long way.
“They have some different players as well but a very similar structure to last year.
“They’ve been doing really well, they played in the Champions League, knocked out of the Champions League, they played against City in two really good games as well.
“It will be a really tough opponent.”

Arsenal and Chelsea in Achraf Hakimi transfer race and crisis-club Inter Milan could cash in amid financial turmoil

ARSENAL and Chelsea are competing to sign Achraf Hakimi from crisis-club Inter Milan, reports say.
Inter’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, have recently announced they will be shutting down their Chinese Super League team, Jiangsu FC.

It has led to speculation that they could also be forced to step away from the San Siro – although chairman Steven Zhang has repeatedly dismissed rumours of a sale or takeover.
The club may still need to raise significant funds causing Antonio Conte to look at clearing his squad.
And according to The Telegraph, right-back Hakimi, 22, is a potential casualty, with London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea interested.
The Gunners have been in the market for a potential replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is linked with a move to PSG and Juventus.

It is understood Arsenal were alerted to Hakimi’s potential availability.
But Chelsea are also said to be interested in the defender, who joined Inter from Real Madrid for £34million last summer.
That is despite Reece James’ emergence in the first-team, Callum Hudson-Odoi’s recent run at wingback and Cesar Azpilicueta’s ability to cover at full-back.
After struggling for game time at Madrid, Hakimi was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund for two seasons from 2018 to 2020.

Dortmund were keen to make the deal permanent after the Moroccan established himself as one of the best young talents in Germany.
But Hakimi opted for a five-year contract with Inter and has impressed, scoring six goals with four assists.
He has also helped the club to league leaders, six points ahead of neighbours AC Milan.

World’s best youngsters ranked with Jadon Sancho, Arsenal starlet Saka and Man Utd teen Greenwood leading the way

A NEW study has named Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka as top of their class following a fantastic breakout into senior football.
The England pair are establishing themselves as household names and could play a big role at the upcoming Euros.

Key to any young player’s progression is game time at an elite level and an analysis of hot prospects has revealed the pair to be head and shoulders above their contemporaries.
Renowned football research group CIES Observatory created a formula to rank starlets born after the millennium, weighing their game time in domestic action against the quality of the team they play for.
The players were then divided into four groups, based on the year of their birth.
Coming out on top in the class of 2000 was Borussia Dortmund star Sancho, who has racked up almost 100 Bundesliga appearances.

Erling Haaland was ranked third in this group with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies separating the Dortmund team-mates on the podium.
Wolves star Pedro Neto took fifth, ahead of Manchester City pair Phil Foden and Ferran Torres.

    Jason Knight (Derby)
    Anatoliy Trubin (Shakhtar Donetsk)
    Curtis Jones (Liverpool)
    Michael Olise (Reading)

The competition for places in this class was incredibly high with Barcelona’s Sergino Dest, Wesley Fofana of Leicester and Moise Kean all just outside the top ten.
In the class of 2001, Arsenal winger Saka took first place comfortably.

Having just made his 50th Premier League appearance, the 19-year-old beat Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood to the number one spot.
Fellow English football prospects Jason Knight of Derby, Liverpool’s Curtis Jones and Reading playmaker Michael Olise also made the top ten.
But there were no Premier League players in the class of 2002, where 18-year-old Barcelona midfielder Pedri took first place.
Ansu Fati was left in ninth, having missed much of the season through injury, with Gio Reyna and Eduardo Camavinga in the top five based on the experience formula.

Very few players born in 2003 or later have accumulated substantial game time at high levels, with this category topped by Florian Wirtz.
The Bayer Leverkusen talent, 17, has stepped into Kai Havertz’s old position to bag four goals in 20 league games this season.
Jude Bellingham, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott, on loan at Blackburn, and Bayern Munich breakout star Jamal Musiala also featured high up in this class.
In total, 12 players produced in English football made the four 25-man lists across the different age groups.

Arsenal missed out on Jadon Sancho, Christian Pulisic AND Jude Bellingham transfers, reveals ex-head of recruitment

ARSENAL could have signed Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and Christian Pulisic, a former club scout has revealed.
Steve Morrow headed the Gunners’ youth recruitment for almost a decade, during which a number of near misses passed by the club.

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic was rejected by Arsenal before also heading to DortmundCredit: PA

Among them was Borussia Dortmund star Sancho, who interested Arsenal before he signed for Manchester City in 2015 and again two years later.
Morrow, 50, told Goal: “Every top club will say there were near misses.
“Jadon Sancho was certainly one of those.
“We missed out on him once when he moved from Watford and went up to Manchester City, and then again when he reached that age at City when young players have a choice to make.

“Jadon felt that his future was away from Manchester and we were very, very close to signing him, but the family felt at the time that the best opportunity for him was at Dortmund and off he went.”
Bundesliga giants Borussia have become famous for scouting out young talent but Morrow noted every top team’s extensive knowledge.

Jude Bellingham signed for the German side last year amid huge competition for the Birmingham youngster.

Arsenal tracked the midfielder for some time and Morrow left in 2019 having attempted a deal with Bellingham before he broke out.
And Chelsea star Christian Pulisic is another who ended up at Dortmund, having arguably come even closer to signing for the club while on trial.
Former defender Morrow added: “There have been others. Jude Bellingham was another one that was very similar to that.
“When he came to the end of his contract at Birmingham City and was debating whether to stay there and sign a scholarship or move somewhere else, we were very close to that one as well.
“But sometimes it just doesn’t happen and you have to accept it.

I did see Pulisic’s potential but he was certainly behind physically in terms of the same age group with our boys.
    Steve Morrow

“Through our connections in the States, Christian was one that I actually had over at London Colney as a 14-year-old.
“He came in and did quite well, but he was small and underdeveloped physically when he came to us.
“I did see his potential but he was certainly behind physically in terms of the same age group with our boys.
“I wanted to bring him back again, but it just didn’t work out and he went to Germany unfortunately.”

Thomas Partey must be wondering what he’s got himself into at Arsenal… and fans what the fuss is about after £45m move

THOMAS PARTEY was supposed to be an Arsenal game changer when he was snapped up from Atletico Madrid for £45million last summer.
But that isn’t the way things have worked out for the Ghanaian international so far.

Thomas Partey has swapped a LaLiga title run for mid-table in the Premier LeagueCredit: Getty Images – Getty

For while his former club have opened up a sizeable lead at the top of LaLiga, his new employers are becalmed in mid-table, slowly drifting towards obscurity.
And five months into his Gunners career, Partey must already be wondering what he has let himself in for.
Even his £260,000-a-week pay packet won’t be much of a consolation for a player who thought he was joining one of the super powers of English football.
Mikel Arteta had sold him on the idea of leading the Arsenal revival when he agreed to move to the Emirates on the final day of the transfer window.

But he has quickly realised the job is going to be a lot tougher than he had ever imagined.
Because for all of Arteta’s big-time ambitions, the reality is that Arsenal are light years away from challenging for major honours.
And even Partey cannot make that much of a difference when he is surrounded by team-mates who continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
For 39 minutes at Turf Moor, Arsenal were in total control, leading through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s early goal and carving out plenty of chances to go further ahead.

But when Granit Xhaka tried to play a suicidal pass across the face of his own goal the ball cannoned in off Chris Wood and suddenly Burnley were level.
All of Arsenal’s early good work had been undone by one moment of carelessness and Partey could barely believe what he was seeing.
What made the error even more frustrating for Arteta was the fact that it had been Partey who had been dropping deep to take the ball from keeper Bernd Leno up to that point.
But pretty much the first time Xhaka came under pressure inside his own area, he was panicked by the presence of Matej Vydra.
What a contrast to Partey’s calmness in possession as he seemed to have all the time in the world to turn on the edge of the area and pass through the press.
It was his forward ball to Willian which opened Burnley up and led to Aubameyang’s sixth minute strike.

Arsenal fans were hugely excited by the signing of ParteyCredit: Getty Images – Getty

It was midfield partner Granit Xhaka’s error that ultimately cost the Gunners’ two pointsCredit: EPA
And he always seemed to have that extra second to weigh up his options and pick the right pass.
One beautiful chip over the top of the advancing Burnley defence almost led to Aubameyang doubling Arsenal’s lead.
And he even found the space to get on the end of a Martin Odegaard cutback for a first time shot over the bar from the edge of the area.
Not that he was afraid to apply a big clearing boot when it was required. If only Xhaka had followed the lead of his midfield partner.
Yet for all his awareness and authority, Arsenal are still entitled to expect more from a player who has only started ten Premier League games so far – and won just three of them.

A disaster at the back for Arsenal results in a gift of a goal for Burnley 🎁Chris Wood will never score an easier goal in his life! pic.twitter.com/h4jYPBebWN
    — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) March 6, 2021

During his time as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City assistant, Arteta had seen the importance of holding midfielders Fernandinho and Rodri to the team’s success.
Signing a similar player was his top priority last summer and landing Partey was seen as a real coup at the time.
But Arsenal fans are still waiting to see what all the fuss is about and with the real possibility of their team missing out on European qualification for the first time since 1996, time is rapidly running out to get the Partey started.

Arsenal ratings: Granit Xhaka has howler and Bukayo Saka below par while Tierney and Aubameyang impress at Burnley

ARSENAL were held to a 1-1 draw after a Granit Xhaka gaffe and VAR drama at Burnley.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sauntered towards goal to fire the Gunners into an early lead at Turf Moor, before Bukayo Saka missed a golden chance to double their advantage.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang beat Nick Pope with a low drive to open the scoringCredit: Times Newspapers Ltd

A comedy error from Xhaka levelled the scores as the Arsenal man fired his pass into Chris Wood, which bounced straight into the net.
And the Gunners were denied a penalty for handball by Erik Pieters before seeing VAR overturn another one in late drama.
Here, SunSport’s Marc Mayo delivers his individual ratings from Saturday’s match.
    Bernd Leno – 6
Must take some blame for the equaliser, having sold Xhaka down the river instead of launching the ball clear. Produced a pair of key saves late on.

    Calum Chambers – 6
In his first league appearance for the club in 15 months, the right-back put in a perfectly steady performance at both ends of the pitch.
FREE BETS: GET OVER £2,000 IN SIGN UP OFFERS HERE

Calum Chambers’ return was a welcome sight for Arsenal fansCredit: AP:Associated Press
    David Luiz – 7
Marginally the better of the two centre-backs, using his experience and not overcommitting as he has previously been guilty of.
    Pablo Mari – 6
A touch of worry over the Spaniard with the ball at his feet and in the air, but overall solid enough.

    Kieran Tierney – 7
Provided a vital outlet in attack but Burnley’s wingers are among the best at tracking back in the league, making for a good battle down the left wing.
FREE BETS: GET OVER £2,000 IN SIGN UP OFFERS HERE

Kieran Tierney put in another good attacking display for ArsenalCredit: AP:Associated Press
    Granit Xhaka – 4
There was a sense that Arsenal were overplaying it at the back but no one could have seen the mad equaliser scored off Wood from Xhaka’s bonkers pass across the face of his own goal… least of all Xhaka himself!
    Thomas Partey – 6
Perhaps the sort of game Arsenal envisaged Partey dominating yet he did not particularly stand out in any of his battles.
    Bukayo Saka – 5
Left his shooting boots in London and a number of failed openings, including a huge miss at 1-0, meant he couldn’t mark his 50th league appearance with a goal in an otherwise sound display.

It was not Bukayo Saka’s day in front of goalCredit: EPA
    Martin Odegaard – 6
The Norwegian wanted the ball and was perfectly sparky, but lacked the killer ball or finish to make it a 7/10 performance. Subbed on the hour mark as the only viable straight-swap option for Lacazette.
    Willian – 5
Without an assist since November, Willian now has two in two games and perhaps a strong end to the season will mean all is forgiven with the Emirates faithful? Alas, having set up the early opener, he produced little else and was taken off.
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7
Yes, Burnley’s defending provided a simple route to goal for Aubameyang but it is no coincidence that, since being returned to the central striker’s role, he has six goals in his last five starts. The Clarets got a better grip on him from then on but he remained a constant threat.

    Subs
    Alexandre Lacazette – 6
Top marks for producing the yelp of the match after being caught by Erik Pieters. Produced some nice link-up play when dropping into the hole.
    Nicolas Pepe – 5
Had two chances to win the game, yet failed to make a true connection with the shot laid on a plate by Tierney and saw a better finish deflected onto the bar by Pieters’ shoulder.
    Dani Ceballos – 6
Played only ten minutes after replacing Partey, whacking the post with the last attack of the match.
