Arsenal 2021-22 adidas home kit ‘leaked’ with navy stripes on collar… but fans say it is just an Ajax rip-off

A LEAKED version of Arsenal’s 2021-22 home shirt has been likened to the traditional kit of Ajax. The FootyHeadlines reveal shows a red design in a shade slightly lighter than this season’s effort.
A leaked design for Arsenal’s next home kit has emerged onlineCredit: www.footyheadlinesofficial.com
Three navy blue stripes run across the shoulder with the sleeves and socks coloured white.
The side panels are also white, leading to comparisons between the leak and the typical Ajax offering.
Exactly how noticeable the side panels will be remains to be seen, given the image does not show the shirt while it is being worn.
And fans online were quick to notice the potential similarity with the Dutch club.
One Twitter account said of the kit: “I’ve always liked the Ajax jerseys. This is a definite cop for me.”
Dennis added: “Thought it was Ajax with a new shirt sponsor…”

    Brahim dubbed it: “Ajaxenal.”
And another supporter tweeted: “When did we turn to Ajax?”
Previous Arsenal kits have run a similar design, most noticeably the 1999-00 kit, which was sponsored by Dreamcast.
As ever, the overall evaluation of the leaked design was mixed with some criticising designers adidas and others already preparing to fork out.
One Twitter user commented: “The first miss from Adidas on the home shirt imo. Not a fan at all.”
Another stated: “Failed attempt…. But let’s wait on the final render before jumping to conclusions.”

Shash wrote: “These home kits are getting worse and worse. The away and third kits are good but they need to go back to red and white for the home kit. There need to be plain white sleeves not white sides. Fail.”
Chris said: “If it is indeed real, it looks like the inside neck will feature the ‘Arsenal for everyone’ logo. Nice touch.”
    Another fan called it: “Dope.”
While one onlooker joked: “Arsenal always get great kits, shame about the football though.”

Arsenal priority is to axe HALF the squad this summer with ‘average’ players no use to young stars, slams legend Petit

ARSENAL must focus on shedding HALF of the dressing room after a woefully disappointing season, Emmanuel Petit has claimed. The Frenchman, 50, won the Premier League in his first of three years at the club and is dismayed by their current situation.

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Liverpool left the Gunners in tenth place and five points off the European places.
And while Petit has backed the young players coming through, he is no fan of the more experienced stars available to Mikel Arteta.
He told Ladbrokes at the launch of its 5-A-Side Bet: “When I look at the older players in the team, it’s like they think it’s a retreat football club, somewhere you just go for a vacation.
“They have ambition, but I don’t really expect them to win big games anymore.
“If you took away the name ‘Arsenal’ and looked at that group of players… average.
“At the end of the season, if I’m Arsenal, if I’m Arteta, if I’m on the board, to be honest with you, I think my main concern is getting half of the dressing room out. Honestly.
“I like the young players, but they need to be surrounded by the likes of Lee Dixon and Tony Adams, those personalities.
“It’s a simple science but if there’s one thing I’ve learnt as a footballer, it’s that you become a better player when you play with better players!”
Arsenal have let £163.5m worth of signings quit for free since January 2018
Arsenal have undergone a serious overhaul of the team in the past year, with Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil moved on in January.
Yet it is the players signed in their place that has baffled Petit.
The former midfielder accepted that his old club do not have endless finances, but asserted that they must do better.
He added: “The biggest mistake they have made in the last few years is their ridiculous transfer activity.
“OK, it’s a question of money and they don’t have the same finances as Manchester United and Manchester City, but they’re not far behind those clubs.
“They still have the power to get big players in. But the way they’ve spent money in the last six or seven years… who is directing that?

I have to tell myself, ‘Don’t expect anything special from them today’. This is the way I am now.Emmanuel Petit

“I’m just asking that question: who is in charge of these decisions? Does the manager have a say, is it his responsibility? Or is it someone on the board?
“I don’t understand the profile of players they’ve brought in – especially in defence.
“I try not to get emotional anymore when I look at Arsenal. I try to step back and put away my emotions. I try and look at them like a normal team.
“I have to tell myself, ‘Don’t expect anything special from them today’. This is the way I am now.”

Arsenal skipper Aubameyang is ‘second Mesut Ozil’ and ‘far worse’ than Jamie Vardy, claims ex-Chelsea striker Cascarino

ARSENAL star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been likened to Mesut Ozil by former striker Tony Cascarino. The ex-Chelsea and Republic of Ireland star, 58, fears that a worrying decline for the Gunners captain could lead to his career at the club ending sourly as it did for Ozil.

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool saw Aubameyang struggle to get into the game.
Substituted off after 77 minutes, the forward failed to fire off a shot and Cascarino highlighted how he was barely involved in an attack.
He told talkSPORT: “Aubameyang was nearly playing behind [Kieran] Tierney.
“He does frustrate me anyway because I do think he’s one of those players where I look at him and think ‘Your numbers, are they an illusion?’ Because that is the only argument.
“He reminds me of a second Ozil, where it’s going. He’s 31 years old, he’s 32 in June.
“I remember having a conversation about Aubameyang and why you always get concerned about being critical of him.
“His numbers tell you he’s a great striker and gets lots of goals but to me I just don’t see a team player there. I just don’t.”

Ozil signed an expensive new contract at Arsenal in January 2018 but his form soon dipped and he was exiled by Mikel Arteta last summer.
A deal to allow him to leave for free was agreed in January and there are concerns over Aubameyang’s form since he penned a £300,000-a-week contract last year, with Cascarino’s views echoed by Jamie Carragher.
The Gabon forward has scored in only six of his 25 Premier League appearances this season.
Cascarino compared Aubameyang to former Arsenal target Jamie Vardy and asserted that he is a ‘far worse team player’.
The pundit continued: “He played for a few French clubs in his career and there has always been a bit of a myth about him.
I think he’s the numbers guy with the best goal stats, but he’s actually the worst player than a lot of other goalscorers.Tony Cascarino

“I say a myth but, a lot of people have never quite known [about him]. Well, everyone knows he’s a great goalscorer.
“He always gets a good return but they have never quite known how good of a player he really is.
“I think he’s, how do I say this, the numbers guy with the best goal stats, or one of the best, but he’s actually the worst player than a lot of other goalscorers.
“You get all these goalscorers, like [Sergio] Aguero gets goals and Vardy gets goals, and many others but I think he’s a far worse team player than any of them.”

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal record compared to sacked boss Unai Emery’s as he reaches 50 games with Liverpool shambles

MIKEL Arteta’s first 50 Premier League games have been worse than Unai Emery’s final, alarming stats show. Arteta reached a half century of league matches as the Gunners hosted current champions Liverpool.
How Unai Emery and Mikel Arteta compare after 50 Premier League games
But it proved one to forget, as they were thumped 3-0, their 12th loss of the season.
Former Arsenal midfielder Arteta replaced Emery in December 2019, but the numbers show they are not better off.
After 50 Premier League games, the Spaniard has won 12, lost 17 and drawn 12, totalling 75 points.
The Gunners sit ninth in the table, and face losing out on a Europa League finish.
In contrast, Emery won 25 of his final 50 matches, drew 13 and lost 12, resulting in 88 points – a return deemed not good enough and one which led to his sacking.
With 91 goals, Arsenal also scored 19 more under Emery – now at Villarreal – compared to Arteta.
But the current Emirates boss conceded less, with 56, compared to Emery’s 68.
A Diogo Jota double for Liverpool and a Mo Salah goal saw Arsenal beaten for the first time in four league matches.

But individual mistakes and clumsy defending left boss Arteta personally apologising to Gooners.
He told Sky Sports: “We completely deserved to lose the game.
“They were better in every department and deserved to win the game with the margin they had, or even more.
“I accept responsibility for the way we played today. Liverpool completely deserved to win the game, probably by a bigger margin.
“We were extremely poor. We apologise. They made the right decisions, we didn’t.
“It is my fault. I have to set the team up to perform in a different way and that is it.”

Arsenal 0 Liverpool 3: Reigning champs out of title race but top-four hopes well and truly alive after Emirates win

ALL of a sudden, Liverpool are starting to look like Liverpool again. They pressed like Liverpool, bullied like Liverpool, dominated like Liverpool and, eventually scored like Liverpool.

Diogo Jota hit two goals to down Arsenal on SaturdayCredit: Guardian News & Media / Free to use by all titles in perpetuity under NMC agreement
Arsenal? Well they were an all-too-familiar Arsenal – timid, lazy, shoddy, hopeless.
But suddenly the door to Champions League qualification has swung open for the fallen champions.
Diogo Jota’s double and another from Mo Salah fired Jurgen Klopp’s men to within two points of fourth-placed Chelsea, as Arsenal side surrendered pitifully.
If only Liverpool could play away from home every week – and preferably in London – they would romp into the top four.
Despite six straight defeats at Anfield, Liverpool have now won four of their last five away matches and five out of six in the capital this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, on his first appearance since being axed from the England squad, teed up the opener for Jota, three minutes after the former Wolves man arrived as a sub.
Then Salah embarrassed Bernd Leno with a nutmeg for the second – andGunners boss Mikel Arteta dragged off his peripheral skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose sauntering performance set the example for his team.
Arsenal’s attitude stank – they never even tested Liverpool’s makeshift central defence and their own back four crumbled in the last half-hour.

Jota now has more goals as a sub than any other player in this Prem seasonCredit: Reuters
And the Gunners gifted the third goal, finished off by Jota as they made a suicidal attempt to play ot out from the back, in the face of Liverpool’s high press – which was like trying to light a cigarette in a hurricane.
Liverpool will surely get a sterner test when they visit Real Madrid in the Bernabeu on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
But there will certainly be no inferiority complex about Klopp’s men after this.
Chelsea’s shock walloping by West Brom had been a game-changer in the race for the top four – it moved Liverpool’s hopes from slim to genuine and Arsenal’s chances from impossible to slim.

But by the final whistle, Arsenal were out of the picture again, stuck in mid-table where they belong.
And Liverpool are right in the thick of – eyeing Chelsea, perhaps even Leicester – along with the rest of the chasing pack, West Ham, Tottenham and Everton.
Liverpool, in an away kit inspired by early-90s Scouse shell-suit chic, were in charge from the off – James Milner and Fabinho both drilling shots narrowly wide.
Alex Lacazette was left with blood gushing from a facial wound after a skirmish with Nat Phillips – Klopp going potty about the free-kick award, until he noticed the claret stuff streaming down the Frenchman’s face.
But Liverpool’s energy and passing were far superior to Arsenal’s, without the fallen champions being able to create anything glaring.
They were pressing Arsenal high up the pitch, with Dani Ceballos particularly prone to being dispossessed.

An Allison clearance set up a bit of retro Firmino-Mane-Salah interplay, yet Gabriel snuffed out the danger.
Then Milner won a tackle and Firmino pinged one wide of the far post.
Klopp, like most of a Liverpool persuasion, had been seething about Alexander-Arnold’s axing by Gareth Southgate.
And the right-back was full of endeavour in attack, picking out Milner only for the clearest opening so far, only for the veteran to screw his shot wide.
A miserable first half from Arsenal was capped off by their form-horse left-back Kieran Tierney being forced off before the break, following a clash with Milner, and replaced by Cedric Soares.
Arsenal were still struggling to get out of their own half – second to every challenge but Liverpool continually breaking down in the final third.

Mo Elneny arrived in place of Ceballos, in the apparent hope that Arsenal might start winning a few tackles.
Klopp was doing his conkers at Lacazette’s primal screaming which won a free-kick.
And the Liverpool boss then set his sat nav for the Arsenal jugular – sending on Diogo Jota for Andy Robertson, moving Milner to left-back.
After an actual shot from Arsenal – Cedric forcing Allison into an actual save – Jota struck.
Alexander-Arnold gave it some serious whippage with the shot and Jota leapt for a skyscraping header which thudded into the net.
The second goal was ugly from an Arsenal point of view, Fabinho’s ball over the top feeding Salah, who took advantage of a shoddy attempt at a challenge from Gabriel and nutmegged Bernd Leno at his near post.

Jota thumped home the third as Arsenal made a shocking attempt to play it out from the back.
Alexander-Arnold won possession and Mane combined with Salah to set up Jota for an emphatic finish.
Three-nil did not even do justice to Liverpool’s domination.
Arsenal are a shambles. The faith they are showing in Arteta – a rookie manager who is taking the club backwards – is really quite astonishing.

Arsenal are joint dirtiest team in Premier League history with staggering 98 red cards as top 10 revealed

ARSENAL are the joint dirtiest team in Premier League history after amassing 98 red cards. The Gunners have been an ever-present in the glitzy top flight since it was established in 1992.

And research shows the North Londoners – who have been crowned Prem champs three times – are top of the tree for most dismissals alongside Everton.
Both sides are just two red cards away from a century.
The Gunners have had numerous hardmen in their ranks over the years, with Patrick Vieira picking up eight red cards during his time in the Prem and Martin Keown given his marching orders six times.
The Toffees’ figures are inflated by the misdemeanors of Scottish hardman and Carlo Ancelotti’s coach Duncan Ferguson.
The former striker is the Prem’s joint most red-carded player with eight dismissals.
Newcastle are third on the list with 87 while Chelsea make it into the top four with 79 red cards.
Despite not having played a Premier League game since 2012, Blackburn are fifth with 77 send-offs.
The Rovers average more than four per season in the 18 years they have competed in the highest tier of English football.
West Ham are sixth on the ladder with 75 reds ahead of runaway league leaders Manchester City who have racked up 70 red cards.

Arsenal have the easiest run-in based on the league position of their final nine opponents

Tottenham and Manchester United are next with 68 and 67 dismissals.
The Red Devils have Sky Sports hardman Roy Keane to thank after the Irishman scooped five reds single-handedly.
Netflix stars Sunderland – who Keane managed between 2006-08 – make up the top ten with 62 red cards in 16 Prem seasons.
