How Arsenal could line up against Everton with FIVE players including Aubameyang and Lacazette missing through injury

MIKEL ARTETA will have to make do without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette against Everton on Friday night.Arsenal host the Toffees for the 8pm kick-off without the bulk of their first-choice frontline.

Ahead of the game, the club confirmed club captain Aubameyang’s continued absence while suffering from malaria.
The Gabon striker, 31, was infected during the last international break and will not return to full training until next week.
A hamstring injury is keeping Lacazette back after he was forced off in the draw with Fulham.
And Martin Odegaard continues to be assessed due to an ankle knock that makes him a huge doubt to face Everton.
Arteta will therefore face the choice between moving Gabriel Martinelli into the central striker’s role, or promoting Eddie Nketiah.
Martinelli scored his first goal since returning from a long injury lay-off earlier this month but has been kept to the left wing.

An alternative XI with changes to the defence and Eddie Nketiah up top
It should either be the Brazilian or Nketiah up top on Friday after the England Under-21 forward scored the equaliser against Fulham.
Speaking of the injury list, Arteta admitted: “It is unfortunately the situation we have at the moment.
“They are all doing really well to be fair, they are a little bit ahead of schedule.
“We don’t expect them for Everton I think, we have a doubt with Martin a little bit, let’s see how he is today in training. The rest will be out.”
Two further absentees will impact the defence with David Luiz and Kieran Tierney unavailable.
Granit Xhaka is set to continue to deputise for the Scot at left-back, who is aiming to make his training comeback from a knee issue in a fortnight.

And Brazilian centre-back Luiz will rejoin the squad next week having overcome a knee complaint.
A win for the Gunners would be a huge boost to their top-seven aspirations, with eighth-placed Everton three points above them going into the game.
Arteta added: “We had so many injuries in recent weeks that put the team in a difficult position but the other players are reacting well, the team is performing well and let’s go and win.
“That is the best medicine, always, for everything that happens: win football matches.”

Saul Niguez names top three Spanish Premier League stars ever and claims Arsenal star Partey can be one of best in world

THOMAS PARTEY can become one of the best in the world for Arsenal after an ‘unfortunate’ year with injuries, Saul Niguez has claimed. The Atletico Madrid midfielder, 26, played alongside Partey for a number of years having come through the LaLiga side’s academy.

Since his summer move to Arsenal, Saul has remained in contact with the Ghanaian and checks in ‘a lot’ to hear about life in North London.
Speaking at an event for LiveScore, he said: “I think having a coach like [Mikel] Arteta at Arsenal eased things a lot for him.
“He knows the language and it is a culture that suits him. As a player he’s incredible and if he manages to keep this consistency, he can be one of the best in the world, honestly.
“I have known him since we were 16 or 17 years old and I’ve always felt that he was going to be a very important player, but what he has lacked is the consistency, because he’s capable of doing everything.
“He scores from out of the box, he makes ground, intercepts, distributes, runs the game himself. But if he ever reads this [laughs] I would like to mention again that he should improve his consistency.
“It’s not enough just doing one good game and then not appearing in three or four. He has to be more intelligent in that aspect and know what he has to do those days in which he’s not performing as well.

“It’s difficult because he started pre-season with us and then he left without finishing it. He tried to play every game, he got injured, then he tried to come back before the correct time.
“Everything has been a bit unfortunate, but I think next season will be a great season for him.”
Saul, fighting for the LaLiga title with Atletico, has been linked with Premier League leaders Manchester City in the past.
The Spain international provided his top three compatriots to ever grace the English top-flight.

Along with Juan Mata and David Silva, for his ‘legacy’ at Eastlands, he credited international team-mate David De Gea.
Saul stated: “Even though people criticise him he’s one of the best keepers in the world.
“Every year he’s there. Always. Every year you have criticism but he’s always there.
“He won the Premier League with Sir Alex Ferguson, he was namedbest Manchester United player for five years. It’s crazy!”

Arsenal Reddit fan forum ENDS relationship with club and vows to ‘no longer support an owner who speaks for himself’

ARSENAL fans in charge of the club’s popular Reddit channel have cut official ties with the Premier League team.In the fallout from the Gunners’ controversial commitment to the failed European Super League, supporters have voiced their anger.

Each of the six English teams who signed up for the plot witnessed serious fan protests online and at grounds until they quit the ESL on Tuesday night.
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke has faced calls to sell up and leave North London over his role in signing the club up.
And the latest group to make their voice heard is the r/Gunners subreddit that provides a virtual forum for thousands of fans.
Previously, the channel’s moderators had collaborated with the club to arrange Ask Me Anything (AMA) chats between players and fans.
Arsenal were also given permission to take subreddit comments to be discussed in their post-match The Breakdown show, which regularly attracts tens of thousands of viewers.
But the ESL debacle has led to the subreddit cutting its official ties with the club and releasing a pointed statement.

It read: “The Gunners subreddit has been at the forefront of Reddit relationships with their club. We’d like to address that.
“This has been a hard time for all of us… As fans of the beautiful game and fans of Arsenal as a whole.
“We, as a moderation team, have decided that in the best interest of keeping football as the sport by the fans, for the fans, will hereby retract our relationship with Arsenal.
“Effective immediately our tactics and analysis thread, from which the club were allowed to take content for The Breakdown, will now simply serve as a ‘serious’ match thread alternative as was originally requested from you guys.
“We will ask the club to not use content from this thread for their show from this point on. On top of that, we will be declining player AMAs.
“The tactics and analysis post was originally created as a product of our relationship with Arsenal but we understand people find a use for this thread and see it’s independent value so, instead of scrapping it as a whole, it will just undergo some small changes.”

Arsenal have formally apologised for signing up to the ESL, which would have superseded the Champions League and Europa League.
Many fans were left baffled by the move given Mikel Arteta’s team currently sit ninth in the Prem table.
The statement continued: “Arsenal has been, is currently, and always will be, the club that we all love for it’s legacy and virtue.
“We believe this latest development steps all over this. Until Arsenal as a football club commits itself to the legacy of its forebearers and opens up to everyone about its intentions we will no longer support an owner who does not speak for Arsenal Football Club, and rather speaks for himself.”

On Tuesday, a number of supporters turned up on their club’s doorstep to demand they backtrack from the controversial plot.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool have signed up to the ESL alongside three Spanish and three Italian teams.
The proposals will take clubs out of the Champions League and into a new closed-shop setup, where teams qualify regardless of their performance.
Uefa, Fifa, the UK Government and the Premier League are among the bodies to threaten the plotters with significant punishment, including throwing them out of this year’s competitions.
While European football’s governing body and 14 other top-flight English clubs met on Tuesday, protests continued.
Outside Liverpool’s home of Anfield, banners reading ‘FSG OUT’ and ‘SUPER GREED’ were hung up to condemn the club’s owners.

The Reds’ home will no longer feature fan banners across the empty seats after supporters’ groups demanded they be removed.
Blues fans are set to appear en masse outside their home to demonstrate before Tuesday’s clash with Brighton, echoing Monday’s display before Leeds’ draw with Liverpool.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, supporters have been largely unable to make their feelings known in person with games played behind closed doors.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United fans put up a banner stating: “We adored you and you sold our souls. RIP MUFC 1878-2021.”
One placard attached to the gates at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium simply read ‘Shame on you’ alongside two club scarves.
The protests were not limited to England with a message from Barcelona fans posted onto the Camp Nou.
Their statement read: “FCB is our life, not your toy. Super League, NO.”

Emotional Ian Wright says David Rocastle would be ‘turning in his grave’ after Arsenal joined European Super League

IAN WRIGHT has slammed Arsenal for joining the European Super League – adding that David Rocastle would be ‘turning in his grave’.Club legend Rocastle was a former team-mate of Wright’s and tragically died aged 33 after winning two league titles with the Gunners.

Late club legend David Rocastle would be ‘turning in his grave’, said old team-mate WrightCredit: Rex
Former striker Wright, 57, was left aghast at how the club had gone from making an impeccable tribute to its heritage to joining the ESL.
He told his Twitter followers: “I literally couldn’t believe it when I saw Arsenal’s name.
“This is the same Arsenal that was only just, a couple of weeks ago, commended for its tribute to David Rocastle.
“God, he would be turning in his grave knowing what’s going on now.
“Is this how far we’ve fallen? That we are now getting into competitions because we’re not good enough to get into [the Champions League].
“So, to the detriment of the English game, we’re getting a seat to the table we have no right to be at. It’s shameful. I’ve heard that word used, it is shameful.”
Wright joined the growing number of players past and present, fans and clubs in condemning the ESL project.
Arsenal are one of six English teams who signed up to the proposals despite last winning the Premier League in 2004, with Mikel Arteta’s team currently sat ninth in the table.

    MORE ON SUPER LEAGUE OUTRAGE

Uefa have threatened to kick the club out of the upcoming Europa League semi-finals, and Wright pondered how the players feel about the move.
He continued: “If I’m a player I’m worried like, ‘If I play in this competition, I can’t play in the Euros, in the Fifa World Cup’.
“They’re saying the teams in the [current season’s European] semi-finals may get disqualified because of this.
“Where is the competition in all of this? Why haven’t we seen exactly how this is going to work? I totally disagree with this.
“But where’s the jeopardy? Who goes down, who wins, what do they win? Are we supposed to play these great teams on a weekly basis.
“I played against AC Milan twice in my career, it is something I will never forget. Are we supposed to be playing these teams so frequently? It’s not meant to be like that.
“You dream of playing in the Champions League and the World Cup. Now they’re saying you’re not allowed to play in those competitions.
“How do you feel as a player right now? I’d be absolutely s***ing myself now.

“You look at the time the announcement was made, they’re not catering for us. They don’t care about what’s going on in England.
“Those clubs involved are English by name only. It’s a shame. It just makes me very sad.
“There is no way the fans, they will see straight through this b*******, I just love the way that everybody is roundly condemning this, we have to stick together with this.”

Arsenal ‘approve Hector Bellerin transfer’ with PSG ‘best placed’ to sign £22m defender ahead of Barcelona

HECTOR BELLERIN is edging towards a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.Arsenal are said to be ready to accept a fee of £22million despite the Spaniard being under contract until 2023.

A huge overhaul of Mikel Arteta’s playing squad begun last year and could see the club cashing in on Bellerin.
The right-back arrived as an academy starlet from Barcelona in 2011 and has gone on to make almost 250 appearances for the Gunners.
But, according to Spanish publication Sport, he is ready for a new challenge.
And Arsenal are described as willing to sell Bellerin, 26, if negotiations with PSG are successful.
Les Parisiens have reportedly enquired about the defender to his agent with the hope of reducing the £22m asking price.
The right-back spot has been identified as an area of improvement for Les Parisiens.
Roma loanee Alessandro Florenzi and Colin Dagba have been rotated in the position this season, although PSG are set to sign the Italian on a permanent basis for £8m.
Barcelona have long been rumoured to be interested in their former player but are well-stocked in that department with Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be able to fall back on Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares if Bellerin leaves.
Chambers has made a strong comeback from a long-term knee injury to appear in four of the last six Premier League games.
Arteta is thought to be prioritising recruiting a left-back in the coming summer, to provide an alternative to Kieran Tierney.

Arsenal outcast Ainsley Maitland-Niles wanted by Leeds and Crystal Palace in summer transfer after West Brom loan

AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES has reportedly caught the eye of Leeds and Crystal Palace while on loan at West Brom.In the Baggies’ bid to beat the drop, the England international has not missed a minute of football since arriving in February.

And his performances have caught the eye of other Premier League clubs, as well as Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the Mirror, Palace and Leeds are monitoring the situation with Maitland-Niles’ Arsenal deal expiring in 2023.
Whether Mikel Arteta sees a space in the squad for the midfielder next season remains to be seen.
The 23-year-old opted for West Brom despite their relegation battle for a chance to play in the centre of the park.
While the Gunners have often switched their academy product to the flanks, a position he does not see himself in long-term.
Palace are thought to be plotting an overhaul of their aging squad in the summer, with manager Roy Hodgson’s contract up.

And Leeds will aim to add further quality to Marcelo Bielsa’s side with SunSport revealing their interest in Rangers star Ryan Kent.
Maitland-Niles has enjoyed the switch from working under Arteta to Sam Allardyce.
The Baggies boss was recently described by the player as ‘very direct and very honest’, with Allardyce providing his take on how he can improve.
He said: “[Maitland-Niles] wants to play in midfield for us, he’s got the energy to do and he has excellent ability with both feet.
Ainsley needs to be adding assists and goals – that is what he needs to keep working on.Sam Allardyce

“There’s got to be a better finishing quality about him.
“Like any attacking midfielder who plays box to box, he needs to be making assists and scoring goals – that is what he needs to keep working on.
“But by him not playing often enough in midfield, that is something that will hopefully come to him quickly.
“His overall game I’m very pleased with, hopefully he’ll just get a bit better.”
