And it has been reported that the club want to secure Smith Rowe’s future as well as sign a new central playmaker.
According to The Athletic, the 20-year-old is being lined up to follow in Folarin Balogun’s footsteps and commit his long-term future to Arsenal.
Academy graduate Smith Rowe has played 31 times for the Gunners this season, scoring five goals, and is currently tied down to 2023.
He played the full 90 minutes of Friday’s defeat to Everton, a game loanee Odegaard played only a small part of as he returns from injury.
Arsenal are thought to want the Norwegian on a permanent basis but will not be flushed with cash unless they can qualify for the Champions League.
In any case, Real Madrid are reportedly very keen on seeing the 22-year-old return to Spain next season and finally take a leading role in their side.
Arsenal have let £163.5m worth of signings quit for free since January 2018
Mikel Arteta admitted last week that leaning too heavily on young forwards Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka will not do the team any favours.
Julian Brandt is one player linked with moving to North London as the Gunners assess their options for the upcoming market.
Arteta said: “They know that playing every game is impossible, so we have to change those stats.
“That’s what we have to do. We have to find that solution.

“It tells a lot about what has happened this season.
“Eight months ago, if anybody had said we were going to rely so much on these two guys to get a result, you would have said we were not going to be in a strong position.
“That is our reality as well. We have to change that reality because it doesn’t go in our favour.”

Having moved to Blackburn with the advent of the Premier League in 1992, England hero Shearer smashed a record 260 goals en route to three Golden Boot crowns and a league title.
The striker was also named the division’s Player of the Season as his 34 goals led Blackburn to their historic 1995 triumph, and he later signed for hometown club Newcastle to lead the line in awe-inspiring fashion.
Shearer, 50, said: “When you look at some of the unbelievable players to have graced the Premier League – week in, week out, year in, year out – I feel very honoured to join the Hall of Fame.
“I have to thank all of my team-mates, as well as the managers and coaches that I’ve worked with.
“All I ever wanted to be was a professional footballer.
“It was my dream to do that, my dream to win trophies and my dream to score at St James’ Park, to wear the number nine black-and-white shirt and it was fantastic. I enjoyed every minute of it.”
Joining the Toon icon is Arsenal great Henry, who claimed a pair of Premier League titles and Player of the Season gongs.
The Frenchman’s imperious record includes 175 Prem goals in just 258 appearances, combining for four Golden Boots.

The 43-year-old stated: “To be inducted alongside Alan Shearer as the two first inductees into the Premier League Hall of Fame is more than special.
“When I was young, I was just trying to make sure I could get a pair of boots and now we’re talking about the Hall of Fame.
“During my career I wanted to play hard and make sure I was fighting for the cause, because that’s all the fans want to see.
“If you asked me at the start of my career about entering the Hall of Fame, I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s an amazing honour.”
To qualify for this year’s selection, players must have retired by August 2020 and made 250 appearances in the Premier League.
Alternatively, they can qualify by playing 200 games for one club, winning three titles, winning a Player of the Season, Golden Glove or Golden Boot crown, or either scoring 100 goals or keeping 100 clean sheets.

Six more inductees will be named in the coming weeks after a fan vote kicks off on Monday evening.
Prem CEO Richard Masters said: “Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry are two world-class players who lit up the Premier League throughout their time in the competition.
“Both players were capable of scoring every kind of goal, including some of the best we have ever seen.”

Arsenal fear missing out on Martin Odegaard transfer after fallout from European Super League shambles

ARSENAL are worried that they could lose Martin Odegaard as a result of withdrawing from the European Super League. The Norwegian star has had a major impact at the Emirates since arriving on loan from Real Madrid in January.

And now Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to strike a permanent deal for the playmaker, 22, at the end of the season.
But Real president Florentino Perez is furious with the six English clubs who withdrew from the ESL this week — and is in no mood to grant any favours to any teams he feels have betrayed him.
Perez, the chief architect of the breakaway Super League, has stubbornly refused to give up on his grand scheme and blamed “old people who got scared” for the U-turn by the Premier League clubs.
And that anger is likely to rebound on Arsenal when they try to open negotiations for Odegaard in the coming weeks.
Arteta will not know how much money he will have for new signings until the issue of European qualification is settled.
Arsenal paid out a £1.8million loan fee for Odegaard in January and were hoping to agree a permanent transfer in the region of £25m.
But now they fear the asking price is set to soar beyond their price range for a player who only cost Real £3m when he signed from Stromsgodset in 2015.

Odegaard recently said: “I am really happy at Arsenal. I’ve felt at home since the first day and I get on really well with everyone at the club.”
He is reluctant to return to the Bernabeu after managing just 11 appearances in six years.
Arsenal also have Dani Ceballos on loan from Real but are not expected to push for a permanent deal for the Spaniard.

Spotify founder Daniel Ek – worth £3.1BILLION – reveals he’d love to buy Arsenal off Kroenke amid furious fan protests

SPOTIFY founder Daniel Ek announced he would love to buy Arsenal off Stan Kroenke amid furious fan protests. The Gunners owner has come under mass scrutiny since the collapse of the proposed European Super League.

As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember. If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.— Daniel Ek (@eldsjal) April 23, 2021

Supporters protested outside the Emirates before Arsenal played Everton to call for Kroenke’s exit.
Music app Spotify owner Ek, a proud Gooner who is worth more than £3BILLION, has responded by revealing plans to take over the club.
He tweeted: “As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember.
“If KSE would like to sell Arsenal I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring.”
Swede Ek launched Spotify in 2008, with the platform currently worth around £58bn.
American billionaire Kroenke, 73, joined the board of the Premier League outfit in 2008 and became majority shareholder three years later.
In that time the side have won four FA Cups but slipped out of title contention, and are set to miss out on a top-four finish for the fifth year in a row.
Already-brewing fan discontent exploded during the week as ninth-placed Arsenal signed up to the European Super League plot.

Protests across all six of the English sides committed to the project led to its collapse and the Gunners’ board was forced to apologise – but vowed to remain in charge.
However, supporters remain determined to see Kroenke and son Josh, a club director, leave the Gunners and vented their anger towards them tonight.
But Josh REFUSED to consider selling the club during a stormy meeting with a fans’ forum.
When one angry caller told him he was ashamed to be part of Arsenal, He replied: “I understand that statement.
“As this project took shape in a very fast manner, we asked ourselves what is worse, a Super League or a Super League without Arsenal?
“That was a very tough one for us to weigh. We decided a Super League without Arsenal was the worst of both those answers.
“Then we asked what do the fans want because I think the global fan wants to see Arsenal versus Barcelona as much as possible.

“I think the European fan wants to see more big matches between top clubs, to be quite frank because their domestic league is so predictable.
“But as one Chelsea supporter wrote on a sign that I saw online the other day, English fans still want your cold nights in Stoke.
“We were put in a very difficult position by forces outside of the club and we got it wrong.
“All of our trust was shredded this week, I understand that, but I still believe that we are fit to carry on in our positions as custodians of Arsenal.
“I might be met with scepticism but over time I hope to establish some sort of relationship with our supporter groups and show them that we are capable of taking the club forward.
“When are we going to sell? I am not willing to answer that question because we have no intention of selling.”

Arsenal play some decent football now and then but don’t expect them to slug it out with Europe’s elite any time soon

YOU know how they say the record books never lie…well this year’s could end up telling an absolute whopper.Arsenal, for all their woes, are three good performances from winning the Europa League.
Mikel Arteta watches on as Arsenal were beaten by EvertonCredit: Getty
Three games from winning two trophies in little more than a year under Mikel Arteta.
Three games from suggesting the Spaniard is the answer to their post-Arsene Wenger managerial prayers, rather than Brian Kidd with a sunlamp.
Two semi-finals – and they really SHOULD beat Villarreal – and a final from people looking back in years to come and thinking ‘that was actually a pretty good Gunners side after all.’
Which is where that whopper comes in.
For in truth they are anything but. They are what they are…a mid-table team on a par with the likes of Leeds, Villa and Wolves.
The team which, for nearly two decades, had a reserved sign on a seat at football’s top table won’t be slugging it out with Europe’s giants again any time soon.
Yes, they played some attractive stuff at times again last night. It’s what they do.
Play in flashes, turn in some impressive performances, get some decent results.

But forget the scoreline. The game against Everton summed up what they are.
A two forward, two back kind of team, miles off a Champions League return, let alone a title challenge.
One which raises hopes, then takes a mid-season break in the Bermuda Triangle.
Leicester and even West Ham are more capable of putting a consistent run together.
A Nicolas Pepe or Bukayo Saka moment of magic here, a Granit Xhaka or as we saw here – a Bernd Leno clown shoe clanger there.
Under Wenger, the suggestion Arsenal are no more than a Cup team would have seen you led away in a straitjacket.
Arsenal seem miles off a Champions League finishCredit: AP
These days that’s exactly what they are…that’s ALL they are.
A few players with potential, and a heck of a lot more who simply aren’t good enough. Not one of them would get in City’s side.
Very few in Liverpool’s, United’s or Chelsea’s either.
You had to admire all those fans who gathered outside the Emirates calling for Stan Kroenke’s head, in protest at Arsenal’s part in the European Super League.
In truth they probably saw more entertainment.
But in all honesty, the ESL is probably the only chance the Gunners have of going toe to toe with the best in the business again.

“Whenever I have finished here, I really want to go to America and play there.
“Possibly stay in Europe, I don’t know, but at the moment one of my targets is to play in America at some point in my career.”
Willian is also planning his post-playing career and opened up on his desire to remain in the game.
A move towards being an agent is already underway for the midfielder.
I want to become an agent. I am preparing myself for that profession.Willian

He continued: “I want to become an agent.
“I am preparing myself for that profession, I’ve already started work on that.
“I want to go into that because I love football and I want to stay in the sport, I want to do a job in that area, but I don’t want to become a manager or a coach.
“I want to be slightly more outside, but still involved in football.”
