Anthony Joshua signs CAREER-long promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom ahead of Oleksandr Usyk fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA has signed a ‘career long’ deal with Eddie Hearn to continue working with Matchroom Boxing.Joshua, 31, has been with Hearn and Matchroom since turning pro in 2013.

AJ’s bout with Oleksandr Usyk at Spurs’ stadium this Saturday is the last in his current deal.
But both sides have agreed to extend their long-term partnership for the rest of Joshua’s boxing career.
AJ said: “We’ve built some great foundations over the years and I appreciate Matchroom – the company, the team, the family business.
“That’s kind of what drew me towards you guys as well, the integrity that the Hearns have when it comes to boxing and business.
“I’ve felt comfortable during my years as a boxer and I always felt that the business outside of sport is harder than the actual fighting due to the history and some of the problems that some fighters have had.
“So, to be with Matchroom Sport has been a blessing for myself, my family and my team.
“Outside of that, what Matchroom Sport have done is created an environment for boxing fans.
“The shows that we have managed to put on have been phenomenal. When I walk out to fight, I look around and I’m like, ‘mate, this is unbelievable’.
“From where we began, to the middle of the journey, the foundations we have created are phenomenal and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1

Joshua continued: “In my humble opinion, what better place to be than Matchroom Boxing?
“I have heard that my signature was hot property. I’m happy where I am. A handshake is good enough for me, but the signature solidifies it and I’m happy where my signature is.
“Thank you to Eddie Hearn, Barry Hearn and the family, Frank Smith and all of the Matchroom staff, as well as Freddie Cunningham and the team at 258MGT.”
Hearn tweeted: “Today is a special day for Matchroom and me personally as we announce a career long exclusive promotional deal with Anthony Joshua.
“Here is to an amazing night this Saturday and many more for us all to savour!”

Hearn recently ended Matchroom Boxing’s long relationship with Sky Sports and took his stable to DAZN.
But the London 2012 gold medallist’s bout this weekend is still on Sky Box Office.
And it’s unclear at this stage what the new deal between AJ and Matchroom means in terms of TV rights.
AJ is targeting bouts with Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder in a bid to unify the heavyweight division.
Asked about retirement, Joshua said: “You’ve got 36 to 40. How many years do you go beyond that?
“Do you do the full lot to 40? That’s where Floyd Mayweather went, Alexander Povetkin, Klitschko, guys in my generation. Manny Pacquiao went a bit further.
“Forty seems like the age where they’re like, ‘OK, you’ve done a long time.’ So 36 to 40 is when I start making decisions.
“I’m 32 in October so I’ve still got some good years ahead.”

Mike Tyson, 55, will fight Lennox Lewis, 56, next after stunning boxing return, claims ex-mobster Michael Franzese

HEAVYWEIGHT legends Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis will FIGHT each other in the near future, according to Michael Franzese.Ex-mobster Franzese claims the two former world champs will meet in the ring for a second time for an exhibition bout in December.
Mike Tyson has been linked with a rematch against legendary rival Lennox LewisCredit: Instagram
Lennox Lewis defeated Mike Tyson in their legendary encounter back in 2002Credit: Rex
Speaking on his Sit Down podcast, Franzese said: “He’s going to be fighting again in December.
“Lennox Lewis, and I can tell you he’s in great shape.”
Tyson and British legend Lewis had a heated rivalry and an infamous build-up to their blockbuster fight back in 2002.
But it was The Lion who stood tall after a stunning eighth-round knockout win over the American superstar.
And Franzese, a former capo [captain] of the Colombo crime family, claims their long-awaited rematch is not far away.
Tyson returned to boxing last year as he took on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight that saw both fighters going through the full eight rounds, which led to a split-decision draw.
BETTING SPECIAL – GET 20/1 ON ENGLAND TO BEAT ANDORRA

Iron Mike, whose last professional fight took place in 2005 when he lost to Kevin McBride, also stated that he would like to share the ring with British superstars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua after facing Lewis.
Tyson recently said: “I just want to get the exhibition over Lennox Lewis and probably my next one will be with Joshua or Tyson.”
But The Baddest Man on the Planet also wants to rekindle his infamous feud with Evander Holyfield.
The 55-year-old bruiser wants to go one-on-one with Holyfield one last time before he officially wraps up his legendary career.

Tyson previously said: “I want Holyfield and I want Lennox Lewis this year.
“I want both of them, I want to get them both this year. I also want to box an exhibition with Tyson Fury.
“If I do that — even if I can get those two guys [Lewis and Holyfield], I’ll say, ‘This is a wrap, I’m just gonna live life’.

“And that’s just exhibitions. I’m gonna break all my professional true records with exhibitions.”
Holyfield is also set to make a stunning return to the ring next weekend against former UFC light-heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort.
Oscar De La Hoya was initially set to face Belfort in the main event of Triller’s latest Fight Club card before he contracted Covid-19.
And in a bid to save the card, the promotion turned to The Real Deal.

Heart-pumping trailer released for Anthony Joshua’s September showdown with Oleksandr Usyk as Tyson Fury fight looms

ANTHONY JOSHUA has shared a heart-pumping trailer for his upcoming showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The Watford Warrior will defend his unified heavyweight titles against the undefeated Ukrainian on September 25 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Anthony Joshua will defend his unified heavyweight titles against Oleksandr Usyk next month
AJ shared a heart-pumping trailer for the fight on Instgram
The mouthwatering battle of Olympic gold medallists is currently the talk of the boxing world, with fans divided over Usyk’s ability to trouble AJ.
And Joshua has further whet the appetite for the fight by dropping a pulse-racing Sky Sports trailer on his Instagram and Twitter pages.
The promo included highlights of Joshua’s stoppage of Kubrat Pulev last December and Usyk’s brutal 2018 KO of Tony Bellew.
In the clip, former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk says: “I am the mandatory for Anthony Joshua.
“So he has two options: one to fight me or the other to vacate and go fight Tyson Fury.”
The video then cut to Joshua, who simply states: “I’ll fight him.”

Joshua, 32, is relishing his clash with the former king of the cruiserweights, saying: “The date is set and we are fully locked in.
“September 25, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I put it all on the line again and it’s time to defend my crown.
“We are two Olympic gold medallists who have fought our way to the top and never avoided challenges.
“The stadium is exceptional, the atmosphere will be electric, I’m honoured to be the first person to fight in such an awe-inspiring venue.
“The stage is set and I am ready to handle business.”
Step forward, never asideAnthony Joshua on Instagram
Usyk has gone 2-0 since making his heavyweight debut against Chazz Witherspoon in October 2019 and is ‘confident’ of ending AJ’s second reign as unified champ.
His co-promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, told MyBettingSites: “The rematch is something that is not obligatory in the mandatory fight.
“But we accepted the very fair conditions to agree to it.
“Oleksandr is very confident in his victory over AJ and how he will beat him – so therefore he easily agreed for the second bout because his mindset will be even more favorable after he wins the first.
“There were no other options for Oleksandr after he became the undisputed champion and defended against Tony Bellew.

“There was nothing else to prove at cruiserweight and staying there would for sure be a stagnation or even a step back.
“Now Alex has a huge motivation to get up at 5am every day and work as hard as he can for he has an objective in front of him.
“After just two bouts at heavyweight, Usyk signed the contract for a multiple belt showdown with the king of the heavyweights.”
