Patrice Evra leaves Gabby Logan and panellists in stitches with cheeky comment after Man Utd’s thriller vs Aston Villa

PATRICE EVRA had Gabby Logan and his fellow panellists in stitches after a cheeky comment following Manchester United’s win last night. The Red Devils came from 2-0 down at half-time to triumph 3-2 with a brilliant second half performance.

United went behind after Aston Villa’s never-seen-before free-kick tactic.
Then it got even worse as Leander Dendoncker doubled the visitors’ lead just five minutes later.
United legend Evra was covering the game for Amazon Prime Video and he was widely-mocked at half-time for stating that he was “happy” with his old team’s performance.
However, he was the one laughing at full-time after Alejandro Garnacho grabbed a double while Rasmus Hojlund’s first Premier League goal sealed the points late on.

There were more smiles after the whistle as Evra, Eni Aluko and Roberto Martinez assessed the performance on the side of the Old Trafford pitch.
Host Logan asked: “We must also pay homage to the rearguard action of United as well. There were some big moments there.”
Evra burst into laughter as he responded: “Which rearguard action?”
That led to sniggers from his colleagues while Logan looked visibly embarrassed, while Evra then continued: “When I’m with Gabby, she’s too posh. She speaks English, I’m French.”

Logan then spoke about commentator Jon Champion using the word “condemnatory” – to which led to more baffled looks from the fun-loving Frenchman.
“Condem what?,” he asked in bewilderment.
That led to ever-professional Logan soon realising that it would be best to move on with the show to avoid any further red-faces while Aluko and Martinez struggled to hide their smirks.
Fan-favourite Evra, 42, arrived at United from Monaco in 2006 and he went on to win a host of honours under Sir Alex Ferguson.
He lifted the Premier League title five times during his eight years at Old Trafford as well as the Champions League in 2008.
He went on to have spells at Juventus, Marseille and West Ham before hanging up his boots in 2018 and going into the punditry world. More

Jurgen Klopp tells Amazon Prime’s Dan Walker ‘I understand you have to talk every day’ in awkward live TV interview

JURGEN KLOPP was involved in an awkward live TV interview with presenter Dan Walker prior to Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Burnley. After several minutes of routine pre-match questions, the Reds boss was asked about the composition of his front three – Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.

It is the first time the trio have lined up alongside one another.
Amazon Prime host Walker enquired about the decision to go with that forward line, while he also pointed out the reliance on Salah so far this season.
Walker asked: “Can I ask you a little bit about your front three?
“You’ve had a lot of dependence on Mo Salah with goals and assists, but Nunez and Gakpo playing in a front three.

“You’ve not actually selected so far this season, have you, those three together up top?”
To which an irked Klopp responded: “I don’t know. I said it the other day in the press conference, I understand you have to talk every day about football.
“We are second in the table. We are in a better position than probably everybody expected us to be.
“And then we start discussing the front three and they are not firing on all cylinders. There are more serious problems out there.”

Walker then replied: “I’m not trying to catch you out.”
    Before Klopp added: “Oh, fine.”
Salah has 16 goals in all competitions this season, along with seven assists.
Diogo Jota is the next most prolific Reds star with eight goals, but Trent Alexander-Arnold is their leading assist maker with eight – while Nunez is level with Salah on seven.
Klopp’s spiky response came after he took aim at Sky Sports’ Patrick Davison earlier this month, telling him “you over-estimate your importance” when referring to the media.
Meanwhile, Liverpool beat Burnley thanks to goals from Nunez and Jota.
The victory returns them to the top of the Premier League table, two points clear of Arsenal ahead of the Gunners’ clash with Brighton on Thursday. More

For clarity, you don’t have to predict the exact outcomes of all five games to land the top prize – that would be asking too much – you simply have to outscore your rivals, meaning somebody must win.
Some of our previous winners this season landed amazing prizes having submitted their predictions in ten seconds through sheer gut instinct – it takes no time at all to play and it’s completely free.
Check out our predictions for Matchweek 19 below…
    Luton v Newcastle
The Hatters most recent outing against Bournemouth was abandoned due to Tom Lockyer’s medical emergency so we can only go off their previous three consecutive defeats in terms of recent form.
Although that doesn’t quite tell the full story as they had their moments against Arsenal and Manchester City, two difficult opponents.
However, only Sheffield United and Burnley have conceded more league goals than Luton and same two clubs have a worse attacking record too.
Eddie Howe remains tested by injury setbacks, not to mention the sudden drop in Kieran Trippier’s form, but only Aston Villa and Man City have scored more league goals in 2023/24.
However, it’s worth noting that the Magpies have earned just five points away from St James’ Park.
A 2-1 win for Newcastle is the most-popular prediction among Score Predictor users right now and we’re inclined to agree.
    Our Prediction: 2-1 to Newcastle
Anthony Gordon’s availability may be a factorCredit: Rex
    Nottingham Forest v Bournemouth
Two teams at the opposite end of the form table here.
The Cherries were ranked first among all top-flight clubs for points earned over their last five games prior to their abandoned clash with Luton last weekend.
Conversely, Forest are rock-bottom of the form table having lost five of their last six, a run that prompted Steve Cooper’s departure from the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo has taken the reins and there’s always the possibility of a New Manager Bounce but the more tangible stats favour Bournemouth.
It’s hard to look past the two teams’ contrasting form.
    Our Prediction: 3-1 to Bournemouth
Dominic Solanke has enjoyed a prosperous first half of the seasonCredit: EPA
    Tottenham v Everton
Interestingly, Spurs are the only team to have earned more points on the road than the Toffees this season.
Sean Dyche’s men have been particularly impressive this month having won all four of their league games without conceding a goal.
They’ll do very well to extend that record this weekend against a team who commit men forward at every opportunity without fear of being exposed.
This one has all the makings of a competitive affair and we’re backing Everton to come away with something – though they made need Son Heung-min to have an off-day in front goal.
    Our Prediction: 1-1 draw
Dyche is doing a fantastic jobCredit: Getty
    Liverpool v Arsenal
Matchweek 19’s headline fixture is genuine top-of-the-table clash.
28% of users are backing a 2-2 draw at present but it may be the defensive units that come to the fore.
Both sides have conceded 15 league goals to date this term. the joint-fewest, but it’s the Gunners that come out on top when digging into the underlying data – they’ve conceded just 12.7 xG.
Given the Reds’ record at Anfield, Mikel Arteta would probably be content with a draw and the central core of Gabriel, William Saliba and Declan Rice has proven difficult to penetrate.
That being said, the attacking talent on the pitch makes a goalless stalemate unlikely.
    Our Prediction: 1-1 draw

Rice has improved Arsenal’s midfield several degrees this seasonCredit: Reuters
    Wolves v Chelsea
Right now, this is a mid-table clash that doesn’t inspire much excitement among neutrals.
Hwang Hee-chan and Matheus Cunha offer enough threat on their day but Gary O’Neil’s side have suffered in Pedro Neto’s absence going forward.
Goals have flowed more freely for the Blues in recent weeks but they remain frustratingly inconsistent across the board.
Both these sides are in the bottom-half of the form table and festive fatigue sets in then it could be a tough watch on Christmas Eve.
How about this, Christopher Nkunku scores the winner in an otherwise dull match-up?
    Our Prediction: 1-0 to Chelsea

    Manchester City v Crystal Palace
The Eagles have been something of a bogey team for Pep Guardiola’s side in recent times – at least relative to the other bottom-half teams.
However, Roy Hodgson’s side aren’t particularly well equipped for a trip to the Etihad right now having lost four of their last five games.
Granted, they gave Liverpool a decent contest last time out but with several key players injured and recent defeats to Everton, Luton and Bournemouth fresh in the mind, a comfortable home win seems likely on Saturday.

At this stage, Erling Haaland isn’t expected to feature at the weekend but the treble winners still have plenty of firepower at their disposal.
Only Sheffield United have scored fewer league goals than Palace this season so we’re backing an overdue City clean sheet.
Our Prediction: 2-0 to Man City
Overdue a clean sheetCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
    Burnley v Everton
Roll up, roll up, it’s the Sean Dyche derby!
The Clarets have mustered just eight points from 16 games since they returned to the top flight, although half of those have come in their last three outings in fairness.
The Toffees are only two places above Burnley in the table but that’s because of their ten-point deduction, without punishment they would be in the top half.
Everton have beaten Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Chelsea this month without conceding a single goal.
Dyche’s side also boast the fifth-best away record in the league this term.
    Our Prediction: 2-0 to Everton
    InevitableCredit: GETTY
    Arsenal v Brighton
Roberto De Zerbi’s enterprising outfit have scored the same number of league goals as the Gunners, Newcastle and Tottenham in 2023/24 but they’ve also conceded more goals than Fulham, Wolves, Palace and Forest.
The Seagulls are yet to keep a Premier League clean sheet this season but they’ve also scored in every game they’ve played – we’re looking at both teams to score as a foundation for this prediction.
Arsenal came unstuck at Villa Park last weekend, but doesn’t every team?
Prior to that, Mikel Arteta’s side had won four league games in a row.
Brighton have a modest record on the road this season having taken ten points from seven away days – with 16 goals conceded.
    Our Prediction: 3-1 to Arsenal
Dream Team’s second-best player this seasonCredit: Getty
    West Ham v Wolves
The Hammers completed a classic smash-and-grab against Tottenham a week ago but the celebrations were cut brutally short when they lost 5-0 to Fulham on Sunday.
With progression to the Europa League knockouts already assured, David Moyes may opt to give several key players a much-needed rest against Freiburg this evening ahead of Wolves’ visit to East London.
Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta make up the mainstays of a threatening attack but West Ham have actually conceded more league goals than they’ve scored this season.
Pedro Neto’s absence hinders the dynamism of Gary O’Neil’s attack but Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-chan are not to be underestimated.
That being said, Wolves’ recent results (1-0 win over Burnley, 1-1 draw with Forest) have been very: last on Match of the Day.
    Our Prediction: 1-1 draw
    Under pressureCredit: Getty
    Liverpool v Manchester United
    The big one.
In November, there was a sense that the Red Devils’ results flattered them as even their most partisan supporters acknowledged flaws in the performances.
This month, things have evened out with three losses from four games in all competitions, including a humbling 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Fans will be fearing a thorough thrashing at Anfield on Sunday amid injury absentees – Bruno Fernandes is also suspended for the big clash.
Jurgen Klopp’s men haven’t been at their fluent best of late, nonetheless, they’ve risen to the top of the table by virtue of their 100% home record.
Liverpool have won all seven league games at Anfield this campaign, scoring 21 goals and conceding five.
    Our Prediction: 3-0 Liverpool win
