Eddie Hearn vows Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora will be a PPV FLOP after shock price hike enrages fans

EDDIE HEARN reckons Tyson Fury’s domestic dust-up with Derek Chisora will be a box office flop. The Gypsy King will make the third defence of his WBC heavyweight title in a Tottenham trilogy bout with his old rival on Saturday week.

Boxing fans will have to shell out a whopping £26.95 to watch the fight from home, a price several have slammed during the ongoing cost of living crisis.
And Hearn believes the hefty price will put people off from parting with their hard-earned cash.
He told iD Boxing: “I think it does between 200,000 and 300,000 buys and they probably need between 400,000 and 500,000.
“Listen, Tyson Fury’s a huge star and he’s not going to be boxing for small money.

“I know what Derek Chisora’s making, I think most people do and if the tickets haven’t quite sold as well as anticipated, you’re under a lot of pressure.
“But that’s the job of the promoter and you put your balls on the line sometimes to hit numbers.
“Sometimes you hit them, and sometimes you don’t hit them. I’ve been on both sides.
“Always ugly, never pretty when you’re on that side.”

Hearn believes rival promoter Frank Warren and broadcasters BT Sport will be hard-pressed to convince fans to part with nearly £30 for a third fight between the duo.
He continued “I just difficult, Chisora’s a big name, Fury’s a big star, but you’re relying on people to spend that money at a difficult time.”
Fury goes into his third clash with Chisora having handily beaten the veteran in their 2011 and 2014 clashes.
But fan favourite Chisora believes his old foe has REGRESSED since their last meeting eight years ago.

War told BT Sport: “I think he was a better fighter when I last boxed him.
“Last time I fought him he was better, he was good, he was on point.” More

Anthony Joshua’s strategy for Oleksandr Usyk rematch slammed by Roy Jones Jr who says AJ didn’t ‘understand’ plan

ROY JONES JR reckons Anthony Joshua came up short in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk because the strategy wasn’t communicated to him properly.Joshua, 33, suffered a split decision defeat to the slick southpaw in their Saudi showdown in August.

Coaches Robert Garcia and Angel Fernandez came into the firing line after the Jeddah jostle for giving AJ dodgy corner advice.
In an interview with OLBG, Jones Jr – who plans to work with the former two-time unified heavyweight champion – said of the duo: “They tried to make the change.
“But I think he did not really understand what they were asking for and it wasn’t communicated properly to him, so he could understand what was being asked of him – that’s my outside opinion.”
Joshua turned in a far better display in his rematch with Usyk than he did in their Tottenham tussle last September.

But Jones Jr said: “I didn’t feel that the change he made was going to be good because you’re getting a smaller guy to teach you how to fight a big guy.
“So, it was a tough situation for Garcia because I don’t know if Garcia’s been put in that situation.
“I didn’t want to watch the second one because I didn’t want to lose my hope that he could beat Usyk.
“[My plan to beat Usyk], it’s the same concept that Garcia had in a sense, it’s just that Garcia is a shorter guy. He has a different way of doing it.

“And to me it would be very difficult for him to communicate to Joshua how to do something – Joshua’s a tall guy and Usyk is a tall guy.
“It’s hard for a short guy to explain something to you that he never had to do. I’m not tall, but I had to deal with all of them.
“I went from junior middleweight to heavyweight. Nobody ever did that in the history of the sport.
“My range is a little bit different than Garcia’s.
Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring early next yearCredit: GETTY
“I do understand what Garcia’s plan was, but sometimes different backgrounds, different ways of articulating things to people – sometimes they get it, sometimes they don’t – I don’t think he was able to articulate it to Joshua where Joshua really understood it.”
Joshua is expected to return to the ring early next year, although an opponent for the first fight of his rebuild has yet to be finalised.
He said earlier this month: “I don’t know [when I’ll be back].
“I was supposed to be in the ring this year, I’m going to be in the ring next year. I’ll be in the ring when I’m in the ring.

“I don’t want to make statements today and then I’ll get held to the cross.
“Do you know what I mean? When I’m ready, I’ll be back in the ring.” More

Kickboxer Danil Sharov suffers horrific fractured skull after being kneed in head but amazingly tries to carry on

KICKBOXER Danil Sharov suffered a horrific skull fracture in his latest venture to the ring – but he stunningly tried to carry on fighting. The Russian made his pro debut on the WAKO’s FKR PRO 1 undercard this past weekend in a lightweight clash with his namesake – Danil Kirikov.

But he sustained an injury seldom received by pros courtesy of a nasty knee.
A devastating knee in the clinch connected flush on the forehead of Sharov with just over 30 seconds of the second round remaining.
Sharov wasn’t initially aware of the damage he sustained, although the same couldn’t be said for Kirikov.
Kirikov immediately pointed out the injury to the referee, which prompted a worried glance from Sharov.

Sharov, however, paid no attention and continued fighting – firing a hard low kick at his opponent.
But the referee intervened after seeing the huge dent in Sharov’s forehead and called the ringside doctor to inspect the damage.
The docotor didn’t like what he saw and immediately waved off the contest after putting his thumb into the indentation.
Sharov looked stunned by the decision, although it saved him from taking potentially serious brain damage.

Fight fans were left aghast by the injury, with one saying: “[The] toughness of this kid is insane. Acted like he got a cut or something.”
Another said: “How in the f**k?”
And another said: “Jesus what a great referee.
“That was hard to notice and that kid is too damn tough for his own good. Would have ended up very bad if it continued.”
One remarked: “Good on the opponent to spot that and not engage.”
Skull fractures are a rarity in combat sports, despite their bruising nature.

The most memorable one in mixed martial arts history was the one inflicted on Cyborg Santos by Michael ‘Venom’ Page at Bellator 158.
MVP caved Santos’ skull in with a picture-perfect flying knee that forced the Brazilian to retire from the sport. More

Jake Paul REJECTS Tommy Fury’s fight offer amid claims Love Island star’s management company ‘don’t pay’ opponents

JAKE PAUL has rejected Tommy Fury’s fight offer after claiming the Love Island star’s team “don’t pay” opponents.Twice the pair have signed for a celebrity grudge match and both times Fury was forced to pull out.

The Problem Child claims TNT’s management company don’t pay opponentsCredit: Twitter / @jakepaul
Paul looked set to make a hat-trick of attempts to get Tyson Fury’s younger brother into the ring – especially after they finally came face-to-face this month.
TNT was due to fight Paul Lambert in Dubai on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition with YouTueber Deji only for it to be scrapped amid Fury coming in overweight.
That led to Fury facing Cameroonian Rolly Lambert in a snooze-fest exhibition instead – which Paul hit the ringside for to provide commentary.
After Tommy’s win on points his incensed dad John Fury noticed Paul ringside, and he ripped off his shirt and launched a fiery tirade at the 25-year-old.

However, he was not the only one fuming.
After Fury had come in 7lb overweight, Bamba had insisted on a new deal being made which eventually led to that bout being scrapped and Lambert stepping in.
Global Titans, who put on the event, have paid the Brit in full since as they claimed that the issue was a contractual error that was neither fighter’s fault – although Bamba is adamant he has not received a penny.
The American claims he has lost over £30,000 from it – and that has put Paul off facing Fury as he insisted that his compatriot should be paid after he made the agreed weight.

Providing an update on talks for the Fury clash, the YouTuber-turned-boxing star wrote: “One thing I’m never going to do is do business with people who don’t treat fighters well. Pay Paul Bamba.”
And that could scupper any plans as Fury has insisted that they are involved in the pair’s third attempted fight date.
Fury tweeted at the weekend: “Jake Paul, if you want this fight to happen with me and Global Titans in Feb or March in any location decided by GT, we can have the contracts sent by Wednesday.”
With Paul not initially responding, he then added: “NO RESPONSE to my team from Jake Paul in regards to sorting contracts for this fight. My last tweet until I have some communication from your side.” More

    What has been said?

OLEKSANDR USYK has revealed his plans for retirement – but wants to fight Tyson Fury and Canelo Alvarez first.Usyk declared via his Usyk-17 promotion company that he will hang up his gloves after a maximum of three more fights as he does not intend to keep fighting once he passes his peak.

And the Ukrainian superstar stated that a dream match with Fury is among his priorities.
The 35-year-old would also like to lock horns with Canelo Alvarez before a farewell bout in Ukraine.
He said: “I can have three more fights at the very most.
“It is the most realistic to be in my top form. With Fury, Canelo and a farewell fight at Olympiyskiy.

“With Canelo he said that he wanted to fight me. It would be a freak fight just for the sake of earning money.
“I only need to beat Fury and then it is time to retire for me. The unification of all the belts is much more important than just a fight or another defence.
“I want to outbox Fury and I don’t want to work that much just for another defence. There is much more that I can achieve.”
The undefeated heavyweight extended his streak to 20 victories after overcoming Anthony Joshua for the second consecutive time in Saudi Arabia earlier this year.

Usyk has since been linked with a dream match with Fury, who seems set to come out of his own retirement.
The Gypsy King, who is also still undefeated, is expected to take on the Ukrainian at some point.
But Usyk is first eyeing a bout against Deontay Wilder, who lost two out of three fights to British superstar Fury.
Alvarez, on the other hand, emerged victorious out of last week’s trilogy bout with Gennady Golovkin.
The Mexican star boosted his record to 58 wins in 62 fights, of which he has lost two.
A fight with Alvarez would see them meet somewhere in the middle on weight, with the Mexican having gone up to light-heavyweight twice in the past and Usyk making his name at cruiserweight.
Meanwhile, Fury is closing in on a fight with Joshua on December 3, with official confirmation seemingly all that remains for the ‘Battle of Britain’ to take place.
The two heavyweights have agreed a 60-40 split purse in the Gypsy King’s favour, with AJ’s stock at an all-time low after losing twice to Usyk. More

But Joshua would not agree to the terms before the deadline, with their hopes of giving fans a memorable all British-heavyweight clash all-but ending in September.
At the time, Fury said: “It’s official. D Day has come and gone.
“It’s gone past 5pm Monday, no contract has been signed. It’s officially over for Joshua.
“He’s now out in the cold with the wolfpack. Forget about it. Idiot. Coward!”

Instead, WBC champ Fury will defend his belts against Derek Chisora at Tottenham on 3 December.
But Fury is still angry with Joshua and now says isn’t prepared to fight the former two-time world heavyweight champion.
Fury said: “No, there’s no glamour in fighting a coward, none. I don’t fight cowards, I only fight real men.
“That’s a glamour fight? No way. My glamour fight was fighting the 42-0 Deontay Wilder in America.”
