My dad says I’m just like Frankenstein’s monster… I come alive in the big fights, says Tyson Fury before Chisora clash

TYSON FURY will not look back and reflect at his bulldozing ride through the heavyweight division until he is a “fat, bald-headed b******”.Almost exactly seven years ago he drove over to Germany to dethrone decade-long champ Wladimir Klitschko of his WBA, IBF and WBO titles, in his adopted backyard.

In 2018, after a doping-ban hiatus where he battled mental health problems, obesity and drug addiction, he flew to America with minimal preparation and was cruelly handed a Deontay Wilder draw, instead of the WBC crown he deserved.
Since then he has obliterated the Bronze Bomber twice to grab the green and gold belt and KO’d Dillian Whyte in front of a record 94,000 fans at Wembley stadium.
Right now it is all in a day’s work for the 34-year-old Gypsy King but, long after tonight’s Derek Chisora defence, he may reminisce on the era he wreaked havoc on, inside and outside the ring.
Fury said: “I don’t reflect, zero reflection. When you’re in the driving seat, you don’t look at who’s behind you, you just keep going forward, flat out at a frantic pace.

“Reflection time will come when it’s all done and then in 20 years’ time, I’ll go ‘wow, I was a champion, now look at me, I’m a fat bald-headed b******’.
“I have taken this career seriously from the age of 29. Before that it was a joke. It was just a play thing, it was something I was just good at, something I didn’t train for.
“I’d just turn up at 25 stone, go and lose five stone and go and beat Klitschko.
“When I boxed Wladimir seven years ago I came into camp just under 25 stone and got down to 18 stone in eight weeks. I’m not lying.

“Me and my brother Shane were out drinking vodka and going round a field in a four-wheel drive eight weeks before that fight.
“Then I lost weight and gave him a boxing lesson. It’s something I’ve always been able to do.
“Now as a man, a very experienced man at 34, I have to be smarter. I’m not the same Tyson Fury.”
Fury remains a contradiction, this year alone he has released his third autobiography, sung on another record and starred in a Netflix reality TV show about his family.
But he bemoans the fact his incredible boxing success and showmanship have cost him his privacy.
Two hands are needed to count his retirement announcements now — the most recent after his April Whyte win — and he has vowed to have three serious fights in 2023 as well as 12 glorified spars around the world against “bums of the month”.
Even his dad and former fighter John has noticed his boy seems addicted to the buzz of fame and notoriety.
Tyson said: “Being a warrior is very difficult. It is unlike any other life. To be a businessman or anything else is very different to being a frontline battleman.

“My dad made a good comment when he said I have become like Frankenstein’s monster because I can only really come alive with the electricity of a major event.
“When I am not doing that I am like a zombie, a dead man walking and it is very difficult to shift.
“I was filming a Netflix documentary, writing my third book and releasing a single, I had a lot going on but when I retired it hit me that it was over and for a week I was very low, suicidal. I knew I had to come back.
“As long as I have the focus of being a fighter and a champion I will be OK.”
A third win over Chisora, 38, this weekend, in front of ringside WBA, IBF and WBO champ Oleksandr Usyk, who has flown in from Ukraine, will set-up a spring undisputed showdown between the pair.
Usyk, 35, was the London 2012 Olympic heavyweight champion and the undisputed cruiserweight king before stepping up to stun Anthony Joshua twice.
But Fury dismisses all of his achievements and insists he is boxing’s supreme ruler with more belts and box-office events than Usyk has underwear.
The Gypsy King added: “Every heavyweight wants what I have and he’s the same. He’s had 20 fights, I have had a lot more.
“I have more knockout wins than him, I have won more belts than he has pants in his cupboard.

The Gypsy King hasn’t fought since his sixth-round TKO destruction of Dillian Whyte back in April at a sold out Wembley Stadium.
And as Fury makes his comeback on the big screen, he has revealed he doesn’t just love to smash opposition fighters.
In an interview with BT Sport Boxing, Fury said: “It’s going to be a good fight.
“When Muhammad Ali was out of boxing, Joe Frazier was giving him money and them two at one stage were the best of pals, giving each other money and everything.

“But, when it came to a fight, the competitive nature will take over.
“I’ve seen me and my brother Shane, close as anything, want to kill each other over a game of FIFA.
“I’ve smashed up seven PlayStations in one day over a game of FIFA, that’s with my brother.
“So, you can imagine what I’ll do with Derek Chisora when he annoys me and we’re fighting for real.”

The fight is set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
The Morecombe-based Brit legend will defend his WBC heavyweight crown against Chisora.
Del Boy has clashed with Fury twice before, though, losing the first on points before being stopped in their 2014 sequel.
He added: “For this, we wanna give you the best first round in the heavyweight game forever.
“This will be, for my point, the opening bell to this fight is gonna be electric.
“So you’re not gonna be sitting down, you’ll be standing up.
“I believe if he gets his balls back from his wife’s handbag, that’ll be fine, so we can get the fight on from the first round.
“We need the first round to be electric so the place can be buzzing, so people can talk about it.
“So I’m prepared to do it, I don’t know if he is, but I know Tyson is a man of his word, we shook on it, so we’re gonna go for it. I’m buzzing.”

Tyson had a sing-along with Chesney Hawkes at The Sun’s London HQ
England’s lucky mascot Chesney changed the lyrics when he linked up with Gypsy King Tyson
Chesney, 51, is the team’s lucky charm after his rendition of his 1991 chart-topper at half-time in the Wales game inspired England to score three goals.
Chesney later dashed from our London HQ to perform at Butlin’s in Skegness, Lincs.
His gig tomorrow night has sparked fears he won’t be in Qatar for the Senegal match.
But our Operation Sun and Only aims to get him there on time.

The LA-based star added: “After 30 years I’d finally stopped getting the ‘It’s the one and only’ gags but now they’ve started again. It’s amazing and so unexpected. On the way back on the plane everyone wanted to shake my hand. Incredible.”

HEAVYWEIGHT champ Tyson Fury has told The Sun he will knock out Derek Chisora — then watch England knock Senegal out of the World Cup.The Gypsy King, 34, is so confident the Three Lions will win their last 16 clash that he’s planning to fly to Qatar for the quarter final.

And he said of his fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: “I’m looking forward to putting on a show. I’m feeling fantastic. I always win and so will England.”
Tyson vowed to defy the World Cup booze ban and bring beer into the stadium for a potential England quarter final.
The boxing champ has laid off the alcohol ahead of tonight’s big fight with Brit rival Derek Chisora.
But he said he’ll “get messy again” in Qatar when rather than if Gareth Southgate’s team beat Senegal in tomorrow’s last-16 clash.

On a visit to the Sun HQ, heavyweight legend Tyson joked the alcohol ban at the stadiums was “no bother” for him.
He said: “I’ll put it up my top. Who’s going to stop me?
“I’m not an alcoholic, I’m just a devil for the drink.”
He plans a “wild lads’ holiday” at the football without wife Paris, 32, or their six children.

Tyson, who bought £1,000-a-time rounds for England fans at Euro 2016 in France, vowed: “I’m 100 per cent going to get messy with the fans. I’m known for that.
“I’m going to sneak a few cases in my suitcase.
“They can have anything they want — whatever gets them going.
“Think of Euro 2016 when I went to Nice and bought 200 fans Jägerbombs.”
Tyson also wants to meet skipper Harry Kane and the Three Lions players for a pep talk to spur them on in a potential quarter final against France or Poland.
He said: “I would tell them forget about what you’re thinking, just go and f***ing win.”
And his message to them before tomorrow’s Senegal game would be: “You’ve done all the hard work to get into this position so just go out there and enjoy the game.”
Grinning Tyson also pledged to stay “indefinitely” if England win.
Singer Chesney Hawkes also visited The Sun yesterday after England dubbed him their lucky mascot following his half-time performance during their Group B win over Wales.
Tyson duetted with Chesney at our HQ and said of our plan to fly the singer back to Qatar to play his hit The One and Only: “Fantastic stuff. Get him back out there. He can take me.”
Despite his planned boozy antics at the World Cup, Tyson has revealed he will stay sober for Christmas, saying: “I’m going to try and stay away from the alcohol and eat sensible and eat clean.
“It’s only a four week period. If I can get through that then January we will be here and back to work.
“I intend to just stay on the straight and narrow and spend time with the family.”
I would tell them forget about what you’re thinking, just go and f***ing win.Tyson Fury
Tyson claimed to be retired after beating Dillian Whyte in April.
But he returns to fight Chisora — who he has beaten twice before — at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.
Tyson admitted: “I was very bored. It was a short retirement.
“Paris wanted me out of the house. She’s happy I’m back.”
But he says he will retire in a year and will become a used-car salesman in Morecambe Bay, Lancs, where he owns a £1.7million house.
Tyson, married for 14 years, wasn’t able to spend his anniversary with Paris as he was training.
He said: “I sent her flowers but you have to make sacrifices for success. There are no secrets to getting it to work.
“From my side just say ‘yes’. A happy wife is a happy life.”
On his ring return, he added: “My real reason is I need to keep myself well in my mind.

“I’ve not got any thoughts. I’ve fought for a lot of things in my life.

Revving up for his big fight, he remembered his epic 2015 battle with Ukraine’s Wladimir Klitschko, saying: “Klitschko said to me while I was on stage, ‘You really want my belts, you really want my belts’.

In round four, Hussein scored a knockdown and the ref admitted to giving PacMan almost DOUBLE the amount of time to beat the ten-count.
But Pacquiao, 43, hit back: “It is not cheating. We just got favoured because we were on our home court.
“As a boxer I just did the right thing. For me, I’m only just a boxer. I just did my job in the ring.”

“So in the seventh round, I think [it was the fourth], Manny got knocked down, I thought he was going to get up, but his eyes were cross-eyed.
“I am Filipino, and everybody watching the fight is Filipino, so I prolonged the count. I know how to do it.

“When he got up, I told him, ‘Hey, are you okay?’ Still prolonging the fight. ‘Are you okay?’ ‘Okay, fight!’
“And then Hussein – because Manny was not like Manny is now, he wasn’t trained by Freddie Roach yet, he holds on for his dear life, and the guy throws him, and he went down again.
“I said to the opponent, ‘Hey, you don’t do this.’ You know, I was prolonging the fight. ‘You don’t do that. Okay, judges, [point] deduction’.”
Padilla then admitted he scored an accidental headbutt that cut Hussein as a punch.
If an accidental blow – such as a headbutt – causes a cut and the fight to be halted it will go to the judges scorecards and the time of the stoppage.

But if the ref deems it a legal blow, the cut boxer loses by technical knockout.
Padilla said: “Manny is still groaning and then [I said to Pacquiao] ‘Get up, are you OK?’
“And then because he is shorter he headbutted the other guy and there is a cut but I declared it a punch.
“If there is a headbutt you have to stop the fight and declare to the judges a point deduction, but I didn’t do that, meaning the fight could continue.

Canelo, 32, most recently beat Gennady Golovkin, 40, in their trilogy fight but it was a performance blasted by Paul.
And it has given the YouTuber-turned boxer the confidence that he can do the unthinkable and BEAT the sport’s biggest attraction.
He said: “We’re the two biggest names in the sport and the two biggest pay-per-view draws in the sport.
“So not only is it a massive fight but because of our styles and how we match up – styles make fights, right?
“So, because of how we match up people going into it will go, ‘Oh Canelo’s going to kill Jake, Canelo’s going to kill Jake.’
“But I know I can win and I’m going to give him a hell of a run for his money and that will just be an iconic fight to make.
“Just for the generations, I think it will shut the internet down and I know I can win.”
