Otto Wallin’s promoter reveals talks with Eddie Hearn over Anthony Joshua fight as Dillian Whyte rematch is slammed

EDDIE HEARN held talks with Otto Wallin’s promoter over a fight for Anthony Joshua’s boxing return. AJ and Hearn are plotting their next steps after the two-time heavyweight champion took some time away from the ring.

A rematch with Dillian Whyte has been mentioned while a super-fight with Deontay Wilder remains on the cards.
Whyte, 34, recently edged past American Jermaine Franklin, 29, in a disputed majority decision win.
Franklin’s promoter Dmitriy Salita took a trip to the UK as a chance to pitch his other client, Wallin, as an alternate option for AJ.
Salita told SunSport: “I had discussions with Eddie about Otto for a significant amount of time and as late as last week.

“From what I understand it’s really up to AJ. I believe he wants to place himself back in the heavyweight picture.
“Both Otto and AJ want a shot at Fury. By the numbers Otto landed more punches on Fury then anyone else ever.
“I believe the winner of that fight will have legitimate claim to challenge Fury probably after his fight with Oleksandr Usyk.”
Wallin, 32, left Fury, 34, needing 47 stitches in their 2019 bloodbath in a bout that raised his profile.

Joshua, 33, is expected to return in March and Hearn is in the process of matching him with an opponent.
But after Whyte’s unconvincing win over Franklin, ex-world champion Salita wants to see the pair rematch.
And it would free up Swedish southpaw Wallin to welcome Joshua back to the ring.
Salita said: “Whyte is 1-2 and in reality 1-3 in his last four fights.
Both Otto and AJ want a shot at Fury. By the numbers Otto landed more punches on Fury then anyone else ever. Dmitriy Salita
“A fight with Joshua would be something like Roy Jones vs Mike Tyson or Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, big names but not much behind it at this point.
“Even if it’s not against Jermaine, Whyte needs an impressive showing against someone credible to show that he still got the skills to pay the bills at an elite heavyweight level.
“Otto Wallin on the other hand gave Tyson Fury the hardest fight of his career, landing more punches then Wladimir Klitchko and Deontay Wilder 1 put together.
“He had four wins after that including Dominic Breazeale and Travis Kauffman, both credible at time of his victory.
“Otto is No3 in the WBO and is a bonafide top heavyweight in the world.

“There have been lots of big names thrown around with Joshua including Tyson and Wilder.
“How serious that is will depend on who he fights next.”

It will be KSI’s third bout since returning and already he is looking ahead to future fights with the likes of Tommy Fury.
But an anticipated grudge match with fierce rival Paul, 25, will not come next as he eyes an end of the year showdown.
KSI, 29, told Twitch streamer, Kai Cenat: “Who’s next? It could be [Tyron] Woodley, it could be Joe Fournier.
“Jake Paul’s at the end of the year, we’re working on it. The contract, we’re going back and forth already.

“He’s already putting in crazy demands and I’m like, ‘Nah nah nah, who do you think you are?’
“So, we’ve got to go back and forth so it’s going to take some time. In the meantime, I want to fight some people.
“It could be Tommy Fury. Bro, I’ve got to show everyone why I’m the GOAT.

“To show everyone why I am the ultimate man in this scene, it’s as simple as that.”
KSI’s rivalry with Paul dates back to his pair of bouts with the American’s brother Logan, 27, which ended in a draw and points win.
But the online enemies are yet to settle their score in the ring once and for all.
Paul in October beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in the biggest victory of his 6-0 career.
Meanwhile, KSI returned after three years out in August beating rapper Swarmz, 25, and boxer Luis Alcaraz Pineda, 23, on the same night.
He considered fighting millionaire businessman-turned 9-0 boxer Fournier, 39 and ex-UFC champion Woodley, 40.
But he settled on 2-0 MMA fighter Danis, 29, most commonly known as Conor McGregor’s training partner.

He added: “I have no problem making him against Joe Joyce or Daniel Dubois if he wants to make his way back into the top table.”
Joshua is linked with comeback fights against Dillian Whyte, 34, and Deontay Wilder, 37, as he prepares to overcome his latest setback.
It comes while Fury, 34, and Usyk, 35, enter talks for the heavyweight division’s first four-belt unification bout.
The two came face to face after the Gypsy King dominated Derek Chisora, 38, to win for the third time in their trilogy series.

Anthony Joshua returns to America in search of new coach ahead of boxing return and links up with trainer Virgil Hunter

Joshua then recruited American mastermind Robert Garcia to work alongside up and coming coach Angel Fernandez.
Usyk, 35, still went on to win the rematch in Saudi Arabia in August, leaving AJ to take some time away from the ring.
He is set to return in early 2023 and promoter Eddie Hearn revealed he is on the search for new additions to his camp.
The two-time champion, 33, uploaded a video on his SnapChat shadow boxing while in America.

Eddie Hearn says Conor Benn will be fighting ‘sooner than you think’ as Brit awaits punishment for failed drug tests

EDDIE HEARN has claimed Conor Benn will be back “sooner than you think” – despite his multiple failed drug tests. The welterweight prospect failed TWO drug tests in the build-up to his historic catchweight clash with Chris Eubank Jr in October, which was ultimately scrapped.

Trace amounts of the female fertility drug Clomiphene – which can raise testosterone levels in men – were twice discovered in Benn’s system.
The WBC are expected to return a verdict on their investigation by the end of the month.
And promoter Hearn believes the evidence provided will pave the way for The Destroyer to make a swift return to the ring.
He told iD Boxing: “I can’t wait because I think a lot of people will be surprised by what’s about to come out about Conor Benn.

“I think he’s going to be fighting sooner than you think.
“If he does receive a ban, which from the information that we have, I don’t think it’s necessarily it’s fair.
“But if it is, I don’t think it’s going to be a long ban at all.

“I think there’s a very good chance that he won’t be receiving a ban.
“Again, I can’t say too much, but that information. This is an independent [investigation].
“This is a legal system that is being rolled through people with all the news and facts.
“In my opinion, from what I’ve seen, if there is a ban, it cannot be a sizable ban from the facts that will be produced.”
Benn, 26, has maintained his innocence from the get-go, insisting he never intentionally ingested the banned substance found in his system.
But his plea won’t stop him from receiving a ban from the WBC, who removed him from their rankings following his anti-doping infractions.
Hearn added: “Whatever that result is, is the result.
“He’s either going to be cleared to fight, or he’s going to receive a ban.

“When that ban finishes, if that is the case, he will fight again, or if he’s cleared to fight immediately, he will fight again.
    “He’s back in the gym.
“Mentally now, he needs to get his head in the game and prepare to resume his career at some point, which will be determined.”
A dark cloud will hang over Benn – the son of British boxing great Nigel – regardless of is he’s cleared of intentionally doping.
He told SunSport: “Trace amounts were found. The tiniest of traces. The only thing I can think of is contamination.
“I’ve not taken anything. I never have done, never would. It’s not what I stand for, it’s not what my team stands for.

But with a potential change of coaching team seemingly imminent, promoter Eddie Hearn believes the spring will be too early for the pair to settle their differences.
