There was plenty of bad blood between the duo going into the fight, which made the victory even sweeter for Bridges.
An over-the-moon Bridges said: “I’m very satisfied with this win.

Manny Pacquiao, 44, announces boxing return with MMA promotion Rizin and teases next fight against ex-UFC star

MANNY PACQUIAO announced he will return to boxing with MMA promotion Rizin and teased his next fight against an ex-UFC star. The Filipino icon officially retired after defeat to Cuban Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.

But following a failed presidential election in the Philippines, Pacquaio talked up a boxing comeback and fought again in December.
He beat South Korean YouTuber DK Yoo in an exhibition bout and has now signed up to fight again with Japanese MMA promotion Rizin.
Pacquiao, 43, said: “There’s great action, there’s great fights in Rizin, and the atmosphere of the crowd is amazing.”
The eight-division champion also confirmed that his contract is for a boxing bout and not kickboxing or MMA.

Floyd Mayweather, 45, has twice fought under Rizin, knocking out Tenshin Nasukawa, 24, and Mikuru Asakura, 30.
Pacquiao was ringside in September to watch as Mayweather beat Asakura in two rounds, which sparked talk of a rematch.
But Mayweather ruled out a second fight with his great rival, who he initially beat on points in 2015.
The American legend has had five exhibition bouts himself since retiring as a professional in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champ Conor McGregor, 34.

Mayweather has faced kickboxers, MMA stars, YouTubers and even an ex-sparring partner.
And after Pacquaio eased past DK Yoo, he looks set to also take on competition from the world of MMA in the boxing ring.
Pacquiao added: “It’s good to have an exhibition fight last December 11, and I’m excited and so happy.
“My opponent is martial art, who doesn’t know about boxing, so that’s why he experienced a hard time in the ring.
“But this next exhibition match here in Japan, this is different because I think probably my opponent is a professional UFC, MMA fighter, so he knows how to punch and of course to cover.”

Deontay Wilder hailed as ‘hardest punching heavyweight ever’ by David Haye who opens up on brutal power in sparring

DAVID HAYE has hailed Deontay Wilder as the “hardest punching heavyweight ever” and revealed just how powerful he really is. Wilder has 42 knockouts in his 43 wins, establishing him as one of the most destructive hitters of all time.
David Haye and Deontay Wilder were former sparring partners
And former world champion Haye can attest to that, even if it was in bigger 18oz sparring gloves with headguards on.
The Brit hired Wilder as a sparring partner before his proposed fight with Tyson Fury, which he later pulled out of.
And Haye still remembers just how hard the Bronze Bomber hits, all these years later.
He told BT Sport: “I truly think he is the hardest punching heavyweight ever, I know that maybe sounds like an exaggeration.

“I got hit by Wilder in sparring. I’ve been hit by Wladimir Klitschko, on the chin with 10 ounce gloves on.
“There was more effect from Wilder hitting me on the top of the head, with 18 ounce gloves on and I was wearing a head guard – and it wasn’t even clean.
“After that, I remember thinking, ‘This guy is going to do something.’ He was wild and he was all over the place. . . but the power.”
Haye, now 42, withdrew from fighting Fury after suffering a cut in sparring and later a shoulder injury that required surgery.

In the years following, Fury, 34, went on to three times fight Wilder, 37, drawing one and winning the subsequent rematches.
He is now set to face Oleksandr Usyk, 35, in the heavyweight division’s first four-belt title unification.
Wilder bounced back from consecutive defeats to Fury by knocking out Robert Helenius, 38, in round one of his October return.

Tyson Fury’s ex-sparring partner to be drafted into Oleksandr Usyk’s camp despite almost being KOd by Ukrainian before

OLEKSANDR USYK could turn to Tyson Fury’s former sparring partner Dave Allen for help in his upcoming fight camp. Usyk is in talks with Fury for what would be the heavyweight division’s first four-belt unification bout.

One man who knows both well is ex-Commonwealth title challenger Allen, who has sparred the pair.
He was in Usyk’s camp as recently as 2020 and was almost knocked out by the Ukrainian in footage released himself.
And Allen revealed the former cruiserweight king promised to hire him as a Fury replica if he ever fought the Gypsy King.
He told Boxing UK: “You know Usyk, they did tell me that if they fought Fury I would be brought over because stylistically I’m perfect for Fury so that tells you how I box in the gym compared to how I fight in the ring don’t it.

“So, they said I’d be a perfect one for Fury. So, if that fight does end up happening that will be two interesting phone calls.
“One from them to me and another from me to Tyson saying ‘I’m going over to Ukraine if you don’t mind’.”
Promoter Frank Warren revealed talks are ongoing for Fury, 34, to fight Usyk, 35, targeted for early March.
Allen announced his retirement from boxing in 2020 but has had two comeback bouts since then.

And he used a sparring session with Usyk as motivation to walk away after being left out on his feet at one point.
Posting a video of the moment he was nearly KOd, Allen wrote: “I never went over, I finished the round. But I can remember him hitting me.
“The rest of the round – next thing I knew I was stood outside the ring, packing my bag.
“I was concussed, so that was the last straw. I’m not an idiot so I know when it’s time to finish.”
Allen has since announced his next fight on February 18 after losing THREE STONE in a stunning body transformation.

Deontay Wilder backed to beat Anthony Joshua by Brit’s ex-sparring partner as American is ‘less emotionally damaged’

DEONTAY WILDER has been backed to beat Anthony Joshua by the Brit’s former sparring partner David Price. Promoter Eddie Hearn has been in talks with Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel and indicated an end of year blockbuster could be possible.

It came after he talked down AJ – who lost to Oleksandr Usyk last time out – returning straight into a super-fight with his American rival, who knocked out Robert Helenius, 38, in October.
It leaves Price – who once knocked out a then-amateur champion AJ in 2011 – backing Wilder to win.
He told iD Boxing: “I’d have to say Wilder.
“I just think he’s less emotionally damaged especially after his win over Robert Helenius, it was back to normal for him, back to business.

“Whereas Joshua is more of a thinker and puts more pressure on himself to perform.
    “He’s a perfectionist and it’s a terrible trait for a sportsman.
“You can say you’re a perfectionist and that’s good but when nothing less than perfect satisfies you, that’s when it becomes a problem that you’re never satisfied and you’re never happy with your performance.
“Wilder’s almost raw still, he doesn’t care how it looks, it’s about getting the job done and I think that will tell in the fight.

“He will let his hands go more and be less tentative and that will be what wins the fight.”
Joshua is expected to return in April against a top-15 rated contender before eyeing a summer rematch with Dillian Whyte, 34, who he beat in 2015.
It would set AJ up for a cracker against Wilder, 37, to see the year out, something retired Price, 39, would love to happen.
He said: “I’d build back up, one more defeat could be a disaster for him.
“The Dillian Whyte fight makes sense… then he can look at fighting maybe Fury, Wilder, there are loads of good fights out there.”

It appears ex-UFC welterweight and current Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship boxer Perry was one of them.
He tweeted: “I signed a contract to fight @jakepaul but he changed his mind.”

Paul most recently beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in October, the biggest win in his 6-0 career.

And he is already back in training for his seventh professional bout as talks with celebrity boxing rival Tommy Fury, 23, continue.
The two have twice signed to fight but Fury pulled out both times, firstly after a rib injury last December and then amid a US visa issue in August.
His travel woes still persist today but promoter Frank Warren revealed negotiations between the two camps are ongoing.
Warren told iFL TV: “Both sides are really eager to making it happen and I don’t think we’re far off getting it on.

    What has been said?
“I mentioned at the Press Conference that Dillon was being haunted by me. He made his excuses and knew he couldn’t handle what I bring to a boxing ring,” KSI said.
“This answers the question whether he’s a fighter or not.
“He’s a warrior alright, a keyboard warrior, and hopefully he’s learnt to leave the real men to speak with their actions rather than hollow words.”
“That being said, my focus won’t be distracted from the task at hand and that’s Faze Temper.
“We’ve come head-to-head plenty of times with the Sidemen and FaZe Clan competing against each other, and it looks like we have another challenge on our hands.
“Credit to Temper for stepping up like a REAL fighter.”
Temper added: “I showed exactly what I can do in my last fight.
“At any moment in the fight, I can catch my opponent and you can see how they respond when that happens.

“The Sidemen have been on top for too long, and it’s time for FaZe and I to show them exactly what we’re made of.
“Sure, KSI is a huge name, but only one man is going to come out of this victorious. I hope he’s as prepared as he says he is, because I’m coming to London to do one thing, and that’s claim a massive win inside that ring.” More
