Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury deadline passes for ex-UFC star to replace Love Islander after two previous pull-outs

THE deadline for Mike Perry to replace Tommy Fury against Jake Paul is set to pass. The celebrity boxing rivals have rescheduled their grudge match for February 26 in Saudi Arabia.
Tommy Fury ahead of his fight with Jake Paul
Jake Paul has Mike Perry on standby in case Tommy Fury pulls out
It comes after Fury, 23, was twice forced to pull out before, due to a rib injury and US visa issue.
So Paul, 26, prepared for lightening to again strike by having ex-UFC welterweight Perry on standby.

But the current Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star faces missing out on the mega-fight payday with a deadline now up.
BKFC president David Feldman told The Mirror: “He is the back-up fighter but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
    READ MORE IN BOXING
“We were supposed to know by the end of Monday (13th) as that was the deadline.
“I’m hoping it doesn’t happen, but for Mike I am hoping it does happen as he will grab a very nice payday and get a lot of exposure.
“We have something planned for him in BKFC as we are announcing a big opponent for him on April 29.
“Does he beat Jake Paul though? I don’t know, Jake Paul is actually a pretty decent boxer but Mike Perry has got something inside of him that I’ve never seen before, he’s a different type of animal.

“I don’t think there’s anyone you can put in front of Mike Perry that’s going to blow him out.”
Perry, 31, left the UFC in 2021 to sign with BKFC, where he has had two wins with brutally exposed fists.
And promoter Feldman gave him the green light to potentially save the show if Paul needed it.
He said: “I was open to it because of the notoriety that Mike Perry was going to get and BKFC, because they also have to do some branding for BKFC for this to have happened.
“If Perry does step up, BKFC gets branded to fans that haven’t watched it yet so it’s an opportunity for us too.
“I thought it was an opportunity for him to make a good payday, he gets paid very well with us so it’s not much more than that.
“It’s also an opportunity to expand the growth of our promotion. At the end of the day it looks like Tommy Fury is going to show up and I think he’s going to put on a hell of a fight.”

Eubank Jr had a rematch clause in the contract and has chosen to activate it, rather than revisit the October catchweight bout with Conor Benn which was cancelled.
Posing on holiday in Dubai with the pink thorned flower, Eubank Jr wrote on Twitter: “This morning I activated the rematch clause via my lawyers and sent [it] to my promoters.
    “Happy Valentines Liam Smith”
In the aftermath of his sensational win, Smith confirmed he was tied into a rerun if Eubank wanted it.

But he thought he might swerve it, after suffering such a concussive loss.
And Smith insists, now that he is the A-Side in negotiations, the return fixture will happen in Liverpool at his local arena and he will be getting a bigger cut of the purse.
He said: “I think Chris will have to Tweet and talk about it right away because of an ego and a pride thing.
“I don’t think he can say he doesn’t want the rematch.

“But you might get a different answer in three, four or five weeks, after he has sat down and thought about it.
“He will sit down with his team and family and if he wants the fight he can have it.

“Of course, I accept the rematch because if I can beat him once I can beat him twice.
“I am not worried about whose name is first on the poster but there are a couple of other things that will have to shift on to my terms, like the venue and the money.” More

Illness prevented the pair coming together in December 2021 when Fury pulled out.
Then visa issues prevented the 23-year-old from promoting the fight with longstanding rival Paul in the USA, prompting that bout to also be axed.
Fury was last in action back in November when fighting late replacement Rolly Lambert – who stepped in for Paul Bamba.
Bamba refused to take the fight after Fury weighed in 7lbs heavier than him, allowing Lambert to step in. Though that then force the fight to change to an exhibition bout.

Davis and Garcia’s eagerly-anticipated clash is currently scheduled for April 15.
But negotiations recently hit a snag as both parties are arguing over who will be the A-side should a rematch come to fruition.
Golden Boy Promotions chief Oscar De La Hoya told ESPN: “It boils down to who’s going to control the rematch.
“We’re literally down at the 1-yard line; what’s holding everything up is the rematch clause.

“This is just the way it always has been. … It’s common sense that whoever wins is the A-side.
“That’s the bottom line. We’re not reinventing the wheel here.”
De La Hoya, however, is hoping the squabble will soon be resolved.
He said: “We’re holding strong because we know it’s fair.
“And we feel 1,000 per cent this fight is going to be made and be the biggest fight of the past few years.” More

YouTuber turned boxer Paul’s lack of experience in the sport has led many to believe Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champ Tyson, will do the business in the Diriyah dust-up.
But McGuigan reckons Fury’s immaturity and lack of progression will be his undoing against The Problem Child.
The former WBA featherweight champion told Pro Boxing Fans: “I think Jake Paul is clever.
“He picks guys that he knows he can beat. He is the firm favourite in the fight.

“Tommy Fury’s a talented kid, but he’s too immature and too underdeveloped at this stage.
“I pick Paul as the winner, but it could be a decent enough fight.”
Matchroom Boxing Promoter Eddie Hearn initially tipped Paul to get the job done but has since changed his stance.
The 43-year-old told Boxing UK: “I’m quite looking forward to it.

“It’s a 50/50 though which is a little bit worrying in itself.”
Despite being written off by many, Fury is adamant he’ll get the better of Paul, telling MMA Fighting: “Things have got in the way the previous two times.
“Things well out of my control. A broke[n] rib and everything else that was wrong with the first fight.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk draws near with Ukrainian’s reps flying to UK TODAY for showdown talks with George Warren

WBC heavyweight king Fury has grown tired of the delay, flirting with the prospect of a freakshow hybrid fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
But SunSport understands Usyk’s manager and promoter, Alexander Krassuyk, will fly into London today to finalise the fight.
The Ukranian will meet with Queensberry Promotion’s George Warren tomorrow in a bid to try and save the mouthwatering showdown.
It’s understood a sticking point over the deal is the purse split, which Krassuyk wants to be 50-50.

A venue for the fight will likely be discussed, too.
Saudi Arabia was initially the frontrunner to land the first undisputed heavyweight dust-up in nearly a quarter of a century.
But Wembley Stadium is now a serious contender to host the historic fight.
April 29 is the new working date for the bout, which Fury co-promoter Frank Warren is optimistic will come to fruition.

He told talkSPORT: “The fight will 100 per cent take place on the last Saturday in April.
“Where it takes will be determined within the next six or seven days.
“If we can’t do what we’re being asked to for Tyson and Usyk, then the fight will take place in the UK and we’ll have time to promote it and so forth.
“If it goes to the Middle East, it’s because they will pay a premium for the World Cup of boxing.”
Fury and Usyk have traded several verbal jabs since their face-off last December, with the undefeated Ukrainian recently accusing The Gypsy King of pricing himself out of the fight.
He said: “Fury, you talk about greatness in boxing but, at the same time, you say, ‘Give me a lot of money’.
“Greatness in boxing is not determined by money. Greatness comes from a victorious path.
“You say that I avoid you, but I never have. In fact, I have even come to you.
“I am ready to box you even without any prize money.” More
