CARL FROCH had boxing fans in stitches after DAZN cameras filmed him delivering a pep talk to Leigh Wood in his dressing room.Leigh-thal, 34, was preparing for his WBA world featherweight title fight against Mauricio Lara on Saturday night, when Froch joined the fellow Nottingham-born fighter backstage.

Froch asked: “Did you have a good little rest today?” Before saying: “Listen, there’s a few people talking about Lara’s power… what about the Leigh Wood power?
    “That’s what I’m thinking about.”
Leigh replied: “Absolutely”, prompting Froch to chime in with his pearls of wisdom – drawing up on his own experience of a title fight with Lucian Bute and a meeting with Sugar Ray Leonard.
He continued: “So don’t doubt yourself at any stage.

“I can remember when I was fighting (Lucian) Bute and I was in that room.
“I’m not saying I’m Sugar Ray Leonard. But when Sugar Ray Leonard came in, I was like that just lifted me.
“The crowd are here for you tonight. I am here for you.
“Everyone wants you to do the business. It’s down to you now, come on.”

Boxing fans immediately took to Twitter to voice their opinion.
One wrote: “How don’t people find this utterly f****** hilarious.”
Another posted: “Carl is soo ridiculous that its actually endearing.”
A third joked: “Imagine going back to an house party and Carl froch is stood in kitchen putting world to rights.”
Unfortunately Froch’s words of wisdom fell flat as Wood was brutally KO’d by Lara in the seventh round.
Froch regularly delights boxing fans – once reminding Oleksandr Usyk about how many fans saw him knockout George Groves at Wembley in 2014.
The Ukrainian approached Froch for a selfie and the Nottingham-born ex-fighter couldn’t resist the chance to joke about his final bout.
In footage posted online by Pro Boxing Fans, Froch said to Usyk: “Did you know how many people I boxed in front of at Wembley Stadium?”
A totally confused Usyk then replied: “Sorry?”
Froch stuck to his guns and continued: “I boxed at Wembley Stadium.”
Usyk then hilariously said as he looked utterly bewildered: “Yeah.”
Froch carried on: “Do you know how many people were there? 80,000… 80,000.”

Still completely bemused, Usyk started talking before Froch finally put him out of his misery and said: “I’m only joking.”

And although he vacated the straps after a hiatus from the ring, as the British legend was not beaten, he retained lineal status.
Fury would reign as champion again in 2020 by beating Deontay Wilder for the WBC belt.
He has since defended the crown three times and is in talks to unify the division against Oleksandr Usyk.
It would crown the heavyweight division’s first ever four-belt undisputed champion.

In that time period, Fury has reigned as the lineal champion for seven years and two months, surpassing Jack Dempsey’s record.
But he has some way to go to dethrone Joe Louis, who was on top for 11 years and eight months.
When Fury, 34, knocked out Dillian Whyte, also 34, last April, he called himself the greatest heavyweight of all time.
He said: “I’m the best heavyweight there’s ever been, there ain’t ever been one who could beat me.

But the rerun has just been cancelled for a third time, with the Tartan Tornado blaming a foot injury.
And he now looks set to accept the WBO mandatory challenge — for the one belt he was not forced to vacate — from 25-year-old Teofimo Lopez.
Catterall and Taylor were pulled apart when the third date was scrapped last month so there is enough bad blood for it to be revisited soon.
Undefeated Taylor said: “I had given up and sacrificed a lot to make that fight happen.

“I had vacated my titles to make this happen and been offered bigger and better fights but said no.
“I wanted to put all that doubt about me to bed and move on with my career and then the injury happened.

Chorley southpaw Catterall, 29, accused Taylor of running scared.

But Taylor, who is 19-0, said: “I became undisputed world champion on the road. I went to America to win the last of the belts.
“To say I am afraid of anyone is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous.
“The way he and his team are moaning and crying about it, they are just moaning cry babies, they are sore losers.
“I am sure he will get the chance to rectify it one day but I highly doubt that he will get anywhere near me.”
Taylor added: “Lopez is a huge fight.
“He is a big character with a lot to say and he has been shouting my name out for a long time.”
