‘Don’t call it boxing’ – Frank Warren says Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury ‘isn’t even ‘white-collar level’ ahead of huge bout

They will scrap it out over eight rounds, at a catchweight of 185lb.
YouTuber Paul, 26, has won all six of his professional fights, but none of those have come against a recognised boxer.
While Fury, 23, – the brother of icon Tyson Fury – has won each of his eight fights in the pro ranks.
Both of them have won by knockout on four occasions.

However, boxing promoter Warren is not impressed with the quality of opposition, and he suggested that the bout between the two has the attention it does because of who they are, rather than their ability.
He told The George Groves Boxing Club: “If it weren’t for the fact of that [who they are] it would be an eight round fight on a card.
“But it is because of who they are. So don’t call it boxing. I don’t even think it is even like white collar boxing as such.
“It’s like you could do it with another reporter. Anybody could do it. I mean, I’m a bit older now but maybe when I was younger another promoter we’d settle it that way.

“And people buy into it. Is t good? Is it right? They are making a lot of money.
“Tommy is making a huge of money which is brilliant for him, it is life changing money based upon his ability, I can’t knock that. I can’t knock it.
“As to the level it is at, it is the level it is. I know a lot of boxers who look at that or former boxers that might look at that and say ‘how come they are getting and I’m not?’.
“Well they are capitalising on their notoriety. And so that is what it is.
“Is it the way boxing is going to go? No.”

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury: Boxer who has sparred BOTH breaks down who has more advantages and reveals fight prediction

JAKE PAUL and Tommy Fury meet in a massive celebrity grudge match that has been dividing opinions. After two Fury pullouts – amid injury and US visa issues – the boxing rivals have rescheduled their huge fight once more.
Jake Paul and Tommy Fury fight on February 26 in Saudi ArabiaCredit: Getty
They are set for eight scheduled rounds at a catchweight of 185lb on Sunday in Saudi Arabia.
The bookies are split and so are the pundits, with everyone keen for an inside knowledge.
And one man on hand to do so is 22-1 light-heavyweight Ahmed Elbiali, who has sparred BOTH men.
He shared some rounds in 2020 when Paul was just a raw novice, preparing for his second boxing bout.
    READ MORE IN boxing
Meanwhile, he sparred Fury last summer when the Brit took a trip to Florida with big brother Tyson.
So ahead of the big pay-per-view fight on the weekend, Elbiali spoke with SunSport to break down who holds the key advantages.
    RING IQ
AE: I think Jake does. I think Jake is mentally more focused tactically, because he has to be because he’s missed out on so many fundamental years.
His team are tactically getting him ready better. I think Jake knows these things and Tommy is just relying on his fundamentals and skills. Whereas Jake, his mind is working.

    SPEED
AE: Tommy, because of his fundamentals.
Remember, the closest point to the target is a straight line so if you’re not opening up, and Tommy will open up less because of his fundamentals.
Ahmed Elbiali, left, in training with Tommy Fury
    POWER
AE: I’m going to say 50/50. They’re both cruiserweights, they hit decent. They’re strong boys.
They have good right hands but they don’t throw combination punches, they’re both usually jab, right hand, double jab, right hand.
They’re both trying to land big right hands.

    CARDIO
AE: I would say 50/50, too.
I think physically, Jake can go longer but fundamentally Tommy can go longer too, he’s used to it.
They can both go eight rounds.

    COMPOSURE
AE: Tommy. When I sparred Jake, remember I’m like a veteran in their eyes.
For Jake, him sparring me was almost quite intimidating and as for Tommy, he wasn’t too intimidated because it was controlled sparring.
I could see some intimidation, I’m older than these guys by maybe seven or eight years, but with Jake it was a little bit more because it was open sparring.
But I carried the man, I’m not going to f****g kill the dude.

    PREDICTION
AE: For some reason, I see Jake winning. And I’m friends with Tyson, I’m acquaintances with Tommy.
It’s no disrespect, but in this game it’s sometimes who wants it more and I feel Jake wants it more.
I can see him winning by knockout but more so a close or controversial decision. Because both are going to do their best not to get knocked out.

They both don’t want to take the chance of scoring a knockout and risk getting knocked out in the procedure.
I see Jake winning a decision, maybe very close and enough to do a rematch.

“Just in case you didn’t know, my last fight was at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans.
“I won’t be fighting the mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva on your undercard. I’ve got too much respect for him. And your punch when you boxed him, did that even land? Very dubious.
“You’ve got a job to do against Tommy Fury. If by some miracle you manage to beat Tommy Fury, then I’ll listen to you.
“I’ll have a little chat with you and see what garbage comes out of your mouth. See what you’ve got to say.
“But until then, don’t talk about me in the same league as you. I’m a four-time world champion. Two WBC titles there. You’ll never, ever have one of them.
“You’re not good enough. You’re not a professional fighter. You’re a performing clown. That’s all you are.

“So keep my name out of your mouth until you’ve done something in the game. I think this weekend, your world ends.
“But if it doesn’t, and you are stupid enough to take a fight with me, when this right hand lands on your chin, it will put you into f***ing orbit and knock that stupid barnet off the top of your head.”
And fans on social media could not get enough of the Nottingham ace’s defiant message – with all the focus on THAT George Groves fight comment.
