Mike Tyson called out by Riddick Bowe, 52, for exhibition fight as boxing legend reveals he is already back training

MIKE TYSON has been called out by Riddick Bowe – with the American boxing legend also back in training.
Iron Mike, 54, has been putting in the hard graft to get back into the ring – either for an exhibition fight or a pro bout.

Tyson Fury, dad John, Evander Holyfield and Shannon Briggs are just a few of the bigs names linked with fighting Tyson.
But Tyson’s old school mate – and former heavyweight world champion – Bowe is eager to be the man he returns for.
Bowe, 52, told SunSport: “If the fans want to see me fight again, I’m fighting. I want to make fans happy.
“Equally, I want to be remembered as one who did everything to truly make boxing great.

“I want to get out there. This is the perfect time, I believe, and I’m very excited to fight again.
“It’s official. Actually, let me put it this way: I am officially back and want to and will fight.
“Come on Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield…”

Bowe continued by saying it’s Tyson he wants to fight above all else, with Iron Mike tirelessly training for his own comeback.

The pair, separated by just two years in age, went to the same school and grew up in the same Brooklyn neighbourhood.
Fans would have loved to have seen the duo clash during their heyday, but a number of factors never led to it materialising.
During Bowe’s prime, Tyson was in jail for rape.
And by the time he was released, Bowe’s best days were behind him as his old pal went in search of regaining the world heavyweight title.
But Big Daddy would love to take on the ‘Baddest Man On The Planet’ right now.

I am very excited I want to fight Mike now… I will fight him any day of the week.
    Riddick Bowe on Mike Tyson

Bowe claimed: “We went to the same school. We knew each other quite well.
“We started off fairly close being in the same neighbourhood, but then wentdifferent directions as our boxing developed.
“Of course, we both made it and became the world heavyweight champions.
“I am very excited I want to fight Mike now… I will fight him any day of the week – whether it’s an exhibition, or even a pro fight.”
Bowe has been locked in talks with Eddie Hearn about a fight with Anthony Joshua, with the American veteran keen “fight anybody”.
Despite that, it’s Tyson he craves, continuing: “I will fight anybody.
“I will fight Evander Holyfield, or Mike, Klitschko or even Tyson Fury. I’m open to Deontay Wilder or Anthony Joshua.
“My manager has been talking to Eddie Hearn but Eddie has not got back to him.
“But it’s Mike I really want to fight.”

Even though Tyson has been the one making headlines for his eagerly-anticipated comeback to the ring, Bowe claimed he was already plotting a return of his own.
Despite his desire to fight Iron Mike, Bowe says it would be “beneath himself” to make an offer to him, insisting Tyson must come to him.
Bowe revealed: “I was already planning a comeback. I’ve not reached out to Mike but I am.
“The reason I haven’t yet is because he’s getting offers from all over and I don’t want this to be just another offer.
“I don’t want to be in the crowd. I’m serious and I’m waiting for everything to die down a bit.
“But I’m sure Mike knows I’m interested in doing a pro fight.
“I can say now that officially I am going to fight again. I am on a comeback now. That’s for sure.

I can say now that officially I am going to fight again. I am on a comeback now.
    Riddick Bowe

“Like I said, I will fight Mike Tyson anywhere, anytime, anyplace.
“Mike has to reach out to me; I’m not going to reach out to him right now.
“For me to send out a fight proposal in the line with other fighters who want a piece of Mike, it’s below me.”
But Bowe, who once lost all his money, won’t accept anything less than “$1million or $2m” to fight… because he’s better than Tyson.

Tyson Fury sparring partner Jared Anderson – dubbed ‘new Deontay Wilder’ – slams ‘ridiculous’ glove conspiracy claims

TYSON FURY’S sparring partner – dubbed the ‘next Deontay Wilder’ – has slammed the glove conspiracy claims aimed at the Gypsy King.
Jared Anderson said it was “blasphemy” to suggest the WBC heavyweight champ had been guilty of any wrongdoing in his win over the Bronze Bomber.

    2

Fury, 31, drew against Wilder, 34, in 2018 but in February avenged the result with a seventh-round win in Las Vegas.
Wilder was totally outclassed but his brother Marsellos claimed Fury hid blunt objects in his gloves.
While others accused Fury of tampering with his gloves and/or wraps.
The WBC have since cleared Fury of any wrongdoing – and Fury himself labelled the claims “bulls***”.

Anderson – who was hailed as the “hero” behind Fury’s win – said he knows what the Brit is capable of having gone head-to-head with him in the gym.
And he added that the demolition job on Wilder was merely a culmination of all the work in training.
Speaking about the glove-tampering claims, Anderson told told Pro Boxing Fans: “I thought it was blasphemy.
“I thought it was just ridiculous.

“Because me being a sparring partner and me seeing and me watching him and the way he punches, he did everything he did in the gym.
“He did everything he did in the gym in that fight.

“So the way his gloves open, the way he opens his hands, he open-hand punches because he has strong hands.
“He hasn’t broken his hand yet doing it.
“There’s no different glove or anything in his glove or anything like that. He’s just good.”
Anderson was credited with helping Fury win the heavyweight crown after improving his accuracy in sparring.
BT Sport released footage of Fury having his hands wrapped before winning the heavyweight title.
And despite Wilder’s head coach Jay Deas being present in Fury’s dressing room to oversee his hand wrapping, Marsellos claimed Wilder suffered injuries “no glove or fist was able to cause”.
But WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman backed Fury – who now is lining up two fights against Anthony Joshua.
He said: “It’s ridiculous. It’s difficult to understand.
“I was present in both fights, I was in the dressing room, in both fights. Both Wilder and Fury dressing room.

Oscar winning actor Mahershala Ali to play boxer Jack Johnson in no-holds-barred biopic of first black heavyweight champ

OSCAR-WINNING superstar Mahershala Ali is to play Jack Johnson in an upcoming biopic series about the boxer’s inspirational life.
Johnson became the first African-American world heavyweight champion in 1908 – when he defeated Canadian Tommy Burns in Sydney, Australia.

    4

The inspirational story of Jack Johnson will be brought to the screenCredit: AP:Associated Press

And the upcoming six-part HBO series, titled “Unruly”, will tell the full story of Johnson’s amazing life.
From his journey to boxing greatness, to the disgraceful discrimination and oppression he faced because of his skin colour – the show will bring Johnson’s remarkable story to a modern audience.
Ali, who has played Johnson before in a 2000 stage production about the great champion and has since won academy awards for his roles in Moonlight and Green Book, is not the only star to have signed up to the project.
Tom Hanks will executive produce the show, while House of Cards writer Beau Willimon is also involved.

Dominique Morisseau has agreed to write and executive produce the project.
Johnson’s achievements were recently referenced by promoter Dean Lonergan, as a great reason as to why Tyson Fury’s trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder should be staged in Sydney this year.
He said: “Given what is going on around the world at the moment, what an opportunity to celebrate the first African-American to cut through in American culture.

He (Johnson) set the platform for African-American success in sports.
    Dean Lonergan

“This is well before the days of Jackie Robinson in the 1950s, Jack Johnson was the most controversial figure of his day, bar nobody. It’s who Muhammad Ali took his lead off.

“He set the platform for African-American success in sports.
“His importance has been overlooked over the past 112 years.
“What he did in 1908 was historically significant. Wouldn’t it be totally amazing to get two recent heavyweight champions down here, two of the best self-promoters in the business, to celebrate Jack Johnson’s achievements from 112 years ago.”

Hatton hails ‘inspiration’ Tyson Fury for shedding ten stone and ‘turning life around’ after spiralling into depression

RICKY HATTON has called Tyson Fury an “inspiration” for shedding ten stone and “turning his life around” after spiralling into depression.
The Gypsy King, 31, saw his life unravel after beating Wladimir Klitschko to be crowned world heavyweight champion in 2015.

    2

Ricky Hatton has piled praise on Tyson Fury for ‘turning his life around’

Fury’s weight ballooned to 28 stone and he missed two years of action as he battled mental health issues, alcoholism and recreational drug use.
During his darkest hours, Fury admitted he contemplated committing suicide.
And Hatton, 41, could not be more proud of what Fury has achieved in the past few years.
Fury has come back to beat Deontay Wilder and be crowned world heavyweight champion – while helping the nation stay fit during the coronavirus lockdown.

Speaking on The Gary Newbon Show, Hatton said: “We’re not on speed dial as they say but I’ve known him years.
“You know I’ve seen him when he was going through his bad times, when he was ten stone overweight. He even beat ‘Ricky Fatton’.
“He was going through a really bad traumatic time and he used to say to me about making a comeback…
“I used to think, personally, I’m not bothered about you coming back, Tyson – I’m more concerned about your health.

“But never mind his health, he’s come back tenfold.
“To do what he’s done in the ring with the Wilder fights and after all his problems with all that.
“He’s doing his own little thing for mental health and stuff like that.”
    ‘THE REAL TYSON FURY’
Hatton continued by saying Fury has not only turned his life around, he’s changed the public’s perception of him, too.
Hitman – who was in Fury’s corner for his two fights with Wilder – added: “Years ago his reputation wasn’t the best.
“He couldn’t open his mouth without upsetting someone.
“I think now he’s on the straight and narrow and he’s doing what he’s doing, people are seeing the real Tyson Fury now.
“It’s the Tyson Fury I knew always existed but nobody respected a few years ago. Now they’re seeing the real man.
“From where he’s come from to what he’s done, he’s an inspiration.

Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell training to become pro boxer and legend dad says ‘he has chance with his exciting style’

RICKY HATTON believes his son Campbell could have a career as a professional boxer after lauding his exciting style.
The 41-year-old – who won world titles in the super-lightweight and welterweight divisions – insists his son still has plenty to learn in the amateur ranks.

Campbell, 19, has been put through his paces by his dad during the coronavirus lockdown, with Hatton Sr sharing the footage on social media.
And all the training could pay off in the future with Hatton claiming he will more than hold his own as a professional.
But improvement is still needed as Campbell looks to grind out wins in the amateurs.
Speaking on The Gary Newbon Sports Show, the Hitman said: “I don’t think any dad had a better son, to be honest with you.

“He’s an absolute credit to me. I know he makes me proud every single day.
“As far as his boxing goes – I don’t want to put any more pressure on his shoulders than what he’s already got, but I think he might have half a chance.”
    LIKE FATHER LIKE SON
The Manchester City fan then spoke of how Campbell has been fighting boxers that are more experienced than him, and are just edging out victories.
He then confirmed that Campbell’s intention is to enter the paid ranks, with Hatton proudly stating he boasts a similar style to him.

Hatton added: “I think he will go professional. I think he’d make a better professional than he would an amateur. He’s got a style like me.
“I’ve taught him in the Ricky Hatton mode – he changes angles and he pushes and shoves and he’s aggressive, which sometimes in the amateurs hasn’t helped him.
“He would make a better professional but he can’t [turn pro] until he learns a few more of the fundamentals and the subtleties.

Tyson Fury says Mike Tyson fighting him or Anthony Joshua would be ‘unfair’ but urges 54-year-old to rematch Holyfield

TYSON FURY has backed heavyweight legend Mike Tyson to step inside the ring with rival Evander Holyfield.
Iron Mike is in talks for a sensational return to boxing 15-years after retiring on his illustrious career.

    3

Mike Tyson, left, and Evander Holyfield, centre, are in talks for a stunning trilogyCredit: Rex Features
Tyson, who recently celebrated his 54th birthday, has been enduring gruelling training programmes throughout lockdown and looks in terrific shape ahead of an expected charity exhibition bout.
And it is likely to be against old foe Holyfield who has similarly worked his way back to fitness at the age of 57.
Tyson lost against Holyfield on two occasions in his career including being famously disqualified for biting a chunk of his ear in their 1997 rematch.
But with talk of a trilogy of fights, WBC champ Fury says he is “all for it.”

Speaking on Instagram, the Gypsy King revealed: “I think everyone do their own thing. If that’s what makes them tick and gives them a goal, then I’m all for it.
“Because I know what it’s like to have no goals, I know what it’s like to be sat on the sidelines watching everybody else.
    “I know what it’s like to be a ‘has-been’. I’ve been there.
“I know what it’s like to suffer with mental health problems and then give myself a massive goal to achieve and I know what it’s like to set about achieving it.

“So if Mike Tyson’s 53-years-old (now 54) and Evander Holyfield’s nearly 60, if they want to do this, this is their choice, let them do it.
“We could say, ‘Oh no, don’t let them do it, whatever.’ But at the end of the day they’re their own men. They know the risks, they know the responsibility.
“I say if they can pass medicals, if they can pass all the brain scans, healthy and fit to box, then let them box.
“George Foreman was 45 when he won the world heavyweight championship, how can we ever consider having an older heavyweight champion if they’re not given the opportunity?”
But Fury, who has a third fight lined up with American rival Deontay Wilder for December, slammed talk that Tyson could take on either him or Brit champ Anthony Joshua.
He added: “If they fight exhibitions, it’s between them and people their own age.

Boxing fans warned ‘it’ll be expensive’ to buy a ticket for Fury vs Wilder III due to socially distanced seating

FANS hoping to attend Tyson Fury’s trilogy bout against Deontay Wilder have been warned they may have to dig deep into their pockets.
The duo are set to face each other on December 19 in Las Vegas at the 65,000-seater Allegiant Stadium – but there will be fewer tickets available for purchase.

    1

According to ESPN via Boxing News 24, there will be socially distanced seating measures in place as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
In a bid to stop fight fans from potentially contracting the deadly bug, Top Rank will have barriers put in place between spectators.
Due to the high demand to watch the fight live as well as the low supply of tickets, it is claimed that Fury vs Wilder III will be the most expensive heavyweight fight in history.
ESPN’s Max Kellerman said: “Socially distanced seating means you’re selling, one would think, mostly premium tickets, right?

“You would imagine supply and demand for a ticket to a live sporting event, that supply is very low. The demand must be quite high, in fact, despite travel restrictions, I imagine. Have you heard anything about that?”
Mark Kriegel added: “I mean, look, think of it as an open-air luxury box. Okay, they have to be expensive.
“This is the heavyweight championship of the world. It’ll be expensive.
“It’s a high ticket item, but I think that’s the best way to look at it. You’re going to have to space this stuff out.

Floyd Mayweather hints at coming out of retirement at 43 for another exhibition fight after gruelling midnight workouts

FLOYD MAYWEATHER dropped a hint he is coming out of retirement with a cryptic Instagram post.
Money Mayweather said he is heading to Japan soon for a meeting and urged his followers to “stay tuned” for “something this year”.

    2

Floyd Mayweather has hinted he is coming out of retirement AGAIN

    2

The 43-year-old said he has a meeting in Japan where he fought Tenshin Nasukawa on 31 December 2018
The 43-year-old posted a short video of him bobbing and weaving alongside a caption that had fans’ tongues wagging.
He wrote: “Soon I’m going to hop on my jet to Tokyo, Japan for a meeting with my partners and Rizin for something this year 2020.
    “Stay tuned @rizin_pr #TMT #mayweatherpromotions.”
Mayweather has not had an official bout since he beat Conor McGregor in 2017.

And he retired from boxing following his big money cross-sports fight against the former UFC champion.
Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas taking his record to 50-0.
However, the American did return to the ring again in an exhibition bout against Japanese kick boxer Tenshin Nasukawa on December 31, 2018.
Mayweather won by knockout in the first round in Japan sending Nasukawa to the canvas an incredible three times before referee Kenny Bayless waved the fight off.

He bagged around £7million from the whitewash and could be looking for another pay day if his post is anything to go by.
The cryptic message comes after a series of midnight workouts.
Sparring partner Denis Douglas recently posted shots of them working out in the early hours of the morning.
And he told Sky Sports: “When we’re sleeping, he’s working
“Out of nowhere, he called me at 1am and told me: ‘Come to the gym, I want to spar’.
“I was knocked out asleep. But once he hit me up I told him: ‘I’ll be there right away’.
“I was honoured to get that call. Whether it was at 1am or 4am, I would always go.
“You have to. He is arguably the best ever and definitely the best of my generation.”
Douglas wrote in an Instagram post: “@floydmayweather hit me late last night for some sparring.
