Dereck Chisora confirms switch to MMA with Bellator later this year but will still face Usyk in boxing ring before

DERECK CHISORA has confirmed he will debut in MMA but only after facing Oleksandr Usyk in the ring.
The London powerhouse was meant to fight ex-cruiserweight king Usyk, 33, at the O2 Arena in May but the coronavirus pandemic KO’d those plans.

Chisora could debut in MMA after facing Oleksandr Usyk in the ring
Promoter Eddie Hearn wants to still stage the heavyweight headliner in front of a crowd and currently has October as a planned date.
Chisora previously revealed he could fight for Bellator before boxing Usyk to keep busy.
But it appears he will instead focus on fighting the Ukrainian in the ring before embarking on a career in the cage.
Chisora told iFL TV: “With Bellator and my fight with Usyk, a hundred percent it’s happening, it’s gonna happen.

“I’m definitely going into Bellator, this year.
    “I don’t even know who’s in Bellator, I can’t really say much.
“I’m not going to let it fizz-out, I’m on it a hundred percent.”
Chisora, like his manager David Haye did before fighting the heavyweight in 2012, has been training at MMA gym Shootfighters to work on his clinch skills.

But it soon turned into full-blown MMA training as Chisora sparred with kicking involved.
Last month he urged Bellator promoter Scott Coker to let fight his best heavyweights.
Chisora told Sky Sports: “I’ve told [him] give me your best heavyweight and I will knock his lights out!

Tyson Fury still being investigated by anti-doping chiefs despite pig farmer refusing to cooperate with drug probe

TYSON FURY is reportedly still under investigation following his failed drugs test in 2015.
A pig farmer – who claimed he was offered £25,000 to help Fury dodge a ban – is refusing to co-operate after dropping his allegations.

    1

Even though the farmer is not willing to help the authorities, Sportsmail claim the investigation is ongoing.
Anti-doping chiefs are determined to get to the bottom of the case after Fury tested positive for the steroid nandrolone.
The WBC heavyweight champion and cousin Hughie Fury both failed a urine test.
Both fighters denied doping – and blamed it on either their supplements or because they had eaten uncastrated wild boar meat.

Despite that, they both received a two-year ban that was backdated.
The consumption of wild boar meat could lead to a rise in natural levels of nandrolone in the body.
Farmer Martin Carefoot initially admitted to providing them with the meat “every three to six weeks”.
But four months ago he went back on his claims and insisted he had never kept or killed wild boar.

He stated that he had been offered £25,000 to help the heavyweight champion escape without a ban.

Watch rare throwback footage of Tyson Fury’s amateur LOSS to Brit rival David Price in 2006 showdown

EARLY footage has surfaced showing a rare glimpse of Tyson Fury’s amateur career as he fought Brit rival David Price.
The Gypsy King is closing in on becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world but he has faced a few obstacles along the way.

One of those came in the form of Price when he headed to Fury’s backyard in Manchester in 2006.
Only now the full scrap has emerged on Youtube, which ends in Liverpudlian Price claiming a points victory.
But the fight could have easily gone either way after Fury appeared to floor Price in the second round.
The knockdown wasn’t recorded and Price used all his experience to out-box Fury to steal the bragging rights.

Many had assumed that Price would go on to reign in the heavyweight division while Fury would be left in his shadows.
But Price would fail to kick on after winning the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles while Fury remains undefeated in the division.
Writing in his book about the fight, Fury said: “I knew I was coming to the end of my amateur days.
“I would eventually have 31 wins from 35 bouts and I would say that only one of those defeats was genuine – when I lost to my fellow British boxer David Price in the north-west final of the ABA seniors competition in Manchester in 2006.

“I had Price on the canvas in the second round with a good shot, but he clearly outpointed me.

Canelo Alvarez to take huge hit on £28m-per-fight payday with no crowds as opponents snub bout because of lower fee

CANELO ALVAREZ looks set to take a huge hit on his near £28million-per-fight deal due to a lack of crowds and opponents snubbing him due to the lower fee.
Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez has confirmed John Ryder and WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith are potential fights for the Mexican.

    2

Canelo Alvarez will take a huge hit on his near £28m-a-fight dealCredit: AFP
But he also claimed it would be much easier to arrange a fight with a US opponent instead due to the restrictions in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Canelo is due to return to the ring in Las Vegas on September 14 but it is still to be confirmed who will be in the opposite corner.
That depends on the finances involved – with Canelo himself not due to get his usual bumper fee.
The 29-year-old four-weight world champ penned an 11-fight deal with DAZN in 2018 worth £289m.

But with his next clash due to be behind-closed-doors, there will be no revenue from ticket sales.
And both David Lemieux and Sergiy Derevyanchenko have already stated they are not willing to battle the star for a low fee.

    2

Canelo has been the highest-paid sports star per appearance over the past year
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gomez said: “There is a very good chance [Canelo could face Smith or Ryder].
“There are a couple of guys we are looking at as a possibility.

“[If we get an opponent in the United States we don’t have to deal with any visa restrictions that have been imposed by the government.
“If there is someone already here in the US? That helps. It is more difficult now because of the restrictions.
“The borders are not all open so it isn’t easy to bring some fighters to the US.
“It all depends on the negotiations. We are not living in the world that we lived in last year.”

Dillian Whyte accuses Floyd Mayweather of ‘cherry-picking’ his opponents and slams historic Conor McGregor fight

BRITISH heavyweight hero Dillian Whyte has accused Floyd Mayweather of “cherry-picking” his opponents.
The 32-year-old, who is planning to take on UFC star Francis Ngannou, also criticised Mayweather’s boxing match with MMA icon Conor McGregor.

The American defeated Conor McGregor back in 2017
Speaking with Sirius XM, via World Boxing News, Whyte said: “I want to fight the best.
“A lot of guys cherry-pick, Like Floyd Mayweather with Conor McGregor.
“We all knew Floyd was going to beat McGregor.
“Anyone with any sense knows in a boxing match Floyd’s going to beat him because Conor ain’t got the skill.

“But I am trying to make this thing happen with someone who is competitive and someone who can win in Francis Ngannou.
“He can win a boxing match against me because he carries power and he’s active.
“Also, he’s young and he’s fresh. He has an air of invincibility about him. We said we will do one in the ring and one in the cage.”

If I can beat him in a ring and beat him in a cage, I will be the greatest combat athlete of all time.
    Dillian Whyte

Previously WBC interim title-holder, 27-1 puncher Whyte is believed by many to be on the cusp of a title shot against Tyson Fury.

But ahead of his August 22 bout with Alexander Povetkin, he remains determined to keep challenging himself.
He continued: “I am not one of those dudes that says, ‘oh I just wanna do it on my terms’. No, I am out there trying to make history.
“If I can beat him in a ring and beat him in a cage, I will be the greatest combat athlete of all time.

Pig farmer drops allegations against Tyson Fury after claiming he was paid to lie and clear boxer over failed drugs test

THE PIG farmer who claimed he was offered £25k to lie about Tyson Fury’s failed drugs test has dropped his allegations.
The 70-year-old Martin Carefoot, from Lancashire, is no longer helping the investigation into the Gypsy King’s positive test for anabolic steroid nandrolone in February 2015.

    2

Martin Carefoot, the pig farmer who claimed he was offered £25k to lie about Tyson Fury’s failed drugs test, has withdrawn his allegationsCredit: Matthew Pover Limited.
The WBC heavyweight champion and cousin, fellow boxer Hughie Fury, both tested positive for nandrolone after a urine test.
Fury was then accused of refusing to provide another sample for further testing in September 2016.
Both fighters denied doping and have always maintained that the banned substance was due to contaminated fitness supplements or because they had eaten uncastrated wild boar regularly.
Wild boar meat and offal includes entrails and internal organs and is believed to bring a rise in natural levels of nandrolone in the body.

That theory was backed up by Carefoot, who confirmed he supplied the Fury’s with the meat initially.

    2

Tyson Fury and cousin Hughie Fury both tested positive for nandrolone after a urine testCredit: Reuters
But back in March he alleged he had been bribed to provide a false statement to clear the duo when the investigation was restarted.
He said: “I feel fed up with the lies and deceit. The public needs to know the truth.
“I’m happy the public know what all this is about. I feel cheated and used.”

Now he has performed a shock U-turn by withdrawing those claims.
Carefoot told the Times: “I’ve had nothing but problems right from the beginning of this, and I don’t want to get involved.”
He originally provided written statements stating he supplied wild boar to the Fury’s at their Bolton gym.

And he said he had been approached by a member of the champ’s team who “was looking to purchase large amounts of high quality, fresh meat on a regular basis for Tyson Fury and Hughie Fury – two professional boxers who had very specific diets with high-protein requirements”.
In his statement, he said: “I supplied one fully butchered wild boar pig to Team Fury generally every three to six weeks.
“Although some customers would only want specific cuts, Team Fury were keen to utilise the whole animal, including liver, kidney and other offal.
“Once the animal was slaughtered/butchered, I would place the meat in plastic trays – which were clearly labelled.”
But four months ago he then alleged his statements were fabricated, and he had never kept or killed a board or delivered to the Fury camp – saying he was paying back “a few favours” with his initial letter.

But he ran into difficulties when asked to produce photo evidence of keeping wild and uncastrated boar.
Carefoot confessed the photos he did originally send in were not from his farm, but at from the Bowland Wild Boar Park in Chipping.
And he said he had never received a £25k fee from Team Fury.
He said: “I have never kept wild boar. I have never killed a wild boar.
“The closest I’ve ever got to a wild boar is when we once got some for a customer in the shop, and I actually chopped it up, and that’s the closest I’ve ever come.”

Tyson Fury shows off new MINI as 6ft 9in Gypsy King squeezes in for ride around Morecambe
When explaining the reason behind his false testimony, he claimed: “I was in too deep. They were dangling this carrot.
“I thought, ‘You’re going to get 25 grand for this.’ I thought, ‘It’s not a hanging matter.’ And so I went along with it.”
Both Tyson and Hughie Fury eventually accepted a two-year ban that was backdated – which many felt was only a minor penalty.
But then came Carefoot’s claims but he has now withdrawn them.
