Dubois and Joyce face-off behind screen at Greenwich Maritime Museum as rivals close in on Battle of Britain

DANIEL DUBOIS wants to floor the bookies who have made him a red-hot favourite to batter Joe Joyce.
The 22-year-old British and Commomwealth heavyweight champ puts his belts on the line against his fellow Londoner on October 24.

Before that O2 battle – planned for a sell-out crowd – both undefeated sluggers must come through tricky warm-up fights behind closed doors at the BT Sport Studios in Stratford.
Dubois, the massive 1-3 favourite, expects to wallop Michael Erik Pfeifer on August 29.
And Joyce, 33, is currently the 4-1 underdog if he comes through Michael Wallisch on Saturday.
Dynamite Dubois said: “I prefer to let my fists do the talking.

“I don’t care about odds or numbers. I just want to fight. I am ready to rumble.
“Of course I will watch Joe’s show on Saturday, I wouldn’t miss any show during lockdown.

“Then it’s 100 per cent focus on him and me getting on and settling things.”
Joyce, who will be 35 in September, lost around £60,000 when his Las Vegas training camp for the original April clash was axed for lockdown.

But he could earn a large chunk of that back if he backs himself to upset the Dubois steam train.
Joyce said: “I would say I am the favourite but the bookies don’t see it that way.
“I am the underdog so I have nothing to worry about. I have no pressure and Daniel has it all.
“I was surprised that Daniel took this warm-up fight because Erik Pfeifer is no joke, he’s done two Olympics and I have sparred him so he is in a big fight, definitely.”
Promoter Frank Warren fancies his chances of getting around 18,000 fans into the Greenwich venue once lockdown is lifted.
So the need for both men to defend their undefeated records faultlessly has never been higher.

Watch as Joe Joyce and Michael Wallisch face off through a SCREEN and perform their best mime impressions ahead of fight

JOE JOYCE and Michael Wallisch made the most of having a face off through a screen as the heavyweight duo took it in turns to show off their mime impressions.
The pair are scheduled to trade hell for leather on Saturday night in a behind closed doors event at the BT Sport Studio in Stratford.

Joyce, 34, knows he must avoid defeat if he wishes to fight domestic rival Daniel Dubois for the British, Commonwealth and European titles later this year.
But even though there is pressure on him to deliver, the 2016 Olympic silver medallist was in a jovial mood at Tuesday’s press conference.
Joyce – who goes into the weekend’s bout having won all ten of his professional fights – performed his best mime routine in front of the screen, with Wallisch mimicking everything he did.
Commenting on the screen separating the duo, one fan tweeted: “Isn’t that a bit pointless seeing as the gonna be hugging and sweating all over each other on Saturday?”

Another said: “Jesus. What’s the point. They’re gonna (be) smashing each other’s face in soon. Stupid.”
Meanwhile one poked fun at Joyce’s mime work, as he quipped: “That’s the fastest I’ve ever seen his hands move.”
A fourth simply stated: “Top quality banter.”

From Cristiano Ronaldo’s five naps a day to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s four-hour snooze.. how much sports stars sleep

BEING one of the most well known sporting icons on the planet is tiring work.
But rather than sleep all night, Cristiano Ronaldo instead takes FIVE naps a day while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson snoozes for just four hours to keep himself going.

    17

    Cristiano Ronaldo takes FIVE naps-a-day
Earlier this month, it emerged Juventus superstar Ronaldo, 35, grabs 40 winks five times each day and sleeps in the foetal position.
And here SunSport can reveal the different sleep patterns of several other sporting icons from across the globe and how many hours of ‘Zzz’ time they get, according to Online Mattress Review.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson – 4 hours

    17

    17

The WWE icon turned movie star hits the sack for just four hours-a-night.
At 48, Hawaiian born Johnson clocks off between midnight and is up and about again at 4am.

Presumably to work out at least 25 times a day to maintain his impressive physique.
    Muhammad Ali – 6.5 hours

    17

Muhammad Ali was a religious man and slept for 6.5 hours after dinner and prayers

    17

The greatest boxer of all time put many opponents to sleep in his time and would wind down between 10pm and 4:30am.
As a devout Muslim, much of his time would be split between prayer and training.
And his evening routine would include a walk after dinner, a quick wash, prayers and short stint in front of the TV before he dozed off.

    Serena Williams – 7 hours

    17

    17

Serena Williams clocks up a solid seven hours of sleep after socialising and work
You do not need hawk eye to tell when Serena is out for the count but we can neither confirm or deny whether her snoring makes a racket.
The tennis sensation takes a solid seven hour sleep between midnight and 7am each day after a post-dinner routine of socialising and work.
The 38-year-old former world number one is also a mum of a young daughter so her slumbers are no doubt interrupted by the littl’un every now and then.
    Cristiano Ronaldo – 7.5 hours

    17

Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position to stay in top shape aged 35

    17

Ronaldo has perhaps the oddest routine of all the big stars.
Rather than one lump of rest at the end of each day like most of us, Ronnie reportedly prefers to take short naps of an hour-and-a-half each time throughout the day.
After dinner, he relaxes with his friends before a swim at 10pm.
He then takes one of his signature naps until midnight and relaxes until another short burst of sleep from around 3am before waking up for the day.
    Ronda Rousey – 8 hours

    17

MMA star Rousey does not mess around when it comes to getting the right amount of rest

    17

MMA and WWE star Rousey’s routine seems pretty standard.
Eight hours between midnight and 8am.
    Nice and simple.
    Tiger Woods – 8.5 hours

    17

Tiger Woods – perhaps the greatest golfer in history – spends more than a third of his day asleep

    17

Woods is generally considered the best golfer of all time.
And to maintain such high levels, the superstar spends eight and a half hours dreaming of sinking putts and splitting fairways.
He snoozes from 10pm to 6:30am – proving the early birdie really does catch the worm.
    Tom Brady – 9 hours

    17

Tom Brady is widely considered the best quarter-back ever to play American Football and he does not compromise when it comes to rest

    17

Like Woods, Brady is considered the greatest ever in his field.
The former New England Patriots quarter-back is revered in across the world for his sustained and unrivalled talent.
And the 42-year-old – who is still playing for the Tampa Bay Bucacaneers – makes sure he touches down to sleep for nine hours each day between 8:30pm and 5:30am.

    Stephen Curry – 9 hours

    17

NBA star Stephen Curry is one of the longest sleepers on the list with a solid nine hours

    17

Basketball star Stephen Curry is another record breaker who is set to go down in the NBA history books.
The Golden State Warriors point guard is another who does not take rest lightly – opting to hit the hay for nine hours between 11pm and 8am every day.

Mike Tyson, 54, turns down £16m offer for bare-knuckle boxing match with legend’s comeback pencilled in for August

MIKE TYSON turned down £16milion to make his bare-knuckle boxing debut – as he looks to focus on a comeback next month.
After the heavyweight legend, 54, announced plans to fight for the first time in 15 years he was inundated with wildcard proposals.

    3

Mike Tyson turned down £16m to make his bare-knuckle boxing debut
Bare-knuckle Boxing Fighting Championship promoter David Feldman twice tried to convince Iron Mike to fight with exposed fists.
But he has officially given up with Tyson instead focusing on his return to boxing, which is supposedly taking place next month.
Feldman told Ring Magazine: “We offered Tyson $20million (£16m) and some additional benefits, but he turned it down.
“Who knows what’s going to happen with Mike Tyson.

“(His management team) said he was going to fight in July already, but then they said he was going to fight in August, so who knows what’s going to happen with him.”
Tyson has been training since March with MMA mastermind Rafael Cordeiro.

Mike Tyson vs Tyson Fury: How boxers compare as Gypsy King claims he accepted offer to fight 54-year-old

TYSON FURY said he recently accepted an offer to fight Mike Tyson despite the 23-year age difference between the pair.
Iron Mike has been back in training and looks set for a mammoth comeback fight.

    4

Tyson Fury claims he has accepted an offer to fight his 54-year-old idol Mike Tyson
The super showdown is believed to be just one of the legend’s return fights after his jaw-dropping return to fitness some 15 years after he announced his retirement.
Fury – who wants to see Tyson take on Holyfield for a third time – told BT Sport: “I did get a phone call with a chance to fight Mike Tyson. I was like ‘what?’

“Yeah, I had a phone call saying ‘would you like to fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight?’ I was like ‘hell yeah!’”
Fury later admitted nothing is likely to come of the chat but how would the fighters compare if the historic bout ever came to fruition?
    MIKE TYSON
Tyson, 54, retired in 2005 following back to back losses against Danny Williams and then Kevin McBride.
The youngest heavyweight champ of all time was a shadow of himself, so much so in both defeats he sat on the seat of his pants and waited to be counted out.

In his years in retirement, Tyson overcame a battle with substance abuse and depression to become a successful cannabis farm owner as well well as hosting his own popular podcast.
But the reformed Baddest Man on The Planet found the inspiration to start training again, and quickly announced a comeback – insisting he is back to his most destructive self.
He said: “I feel unstoppable now. I feel the same again. The gods of war ignited my ego and want me to go to war again.”

There is no denying that Tyson is back in phenomenal shape at the age of 54Credit: Instagram @henry_cejudo
Tyson has spent the last month training under MMA coach Rafael Cordeiro, dramatically transforming his body, and revealed he would need just five more weeks until he could fight again.
It’s clear the legendary puncher stills posses the destructive speed and power that won him the belt aged 20, with recent videos on the pads proving so.
But being fit to train and fit to fight are two completely different things – as explained by the man himself after his final loss.

A shock rematch against Holyfield is also rumoured to be on the cardsCredit: AFP – Getty
Tyson said after being stopped against McBride: “I realised, I don’t think I have it anymore. I got the ability to stay in shape, but I don’t have the ability to fight anymore.”
Despite the harsh reality, Tyson is adamant he is in the shape of his life, and ready to turn back the clock.
He explained: “Six weeks of this and I’d be in the best shape I’ve ever dreamed of being in. As a matter of fact, I’m going through that process right now.”

    TYSON FURY
In the conversation with BT, Fury, who previously said he would beat Tyson in an amazing cross-era bout, added: “I don’t think anything’s materialised out of it to be honest.
“So yeah I think he’s definitely serious about doing some fights or whatever, but he’s fought Holyfield twice so they’re both old now, so I think they’re a bit long in the teeth.
“But who am I to say anything, what anybody’s capable of? I wouldn’t try and kill anybody’s dreams.
“If they’re both fit to fight, medically fit, then let them do what they want to do. It’s their life not mine.”

    4

Fury destroyed Deontay Wilder in his most recent bout in FebruaryCredit: Getty
Fury, already etched in folklore for his devastating rematch win to dethrone Deontay Wilder, was coy about revealing how he would take on his fellow legend.
He said: “I don’t like to pit myself against boxing heroes in a virtual reality fight, because I find it disrespectful.
“But my answer is that I’ll beat any man born from his mother. I just wouldn’t say that directly about any of the heroes from the past.
“But, deep down, I don’t believe that any fighter from the past can beat me.
“I think I’m the greatest fighter that’s ever lived – from any generation.”

    4

Many think Fury is the best heavyweight on the planet
    FIGHT BREAKDOWN
Iron Mike says at his explosive peak he felt “invincible” for any time “since the beginning of God” – while unbeaten two-time champ Fury insists he would beat anyone.
And although Fury was unwilling to “directly” talk about taking on one of his “heroes,” Tyson has readily gone into details about tactics if the two icons from different eras could meet in their prime.
The 5ft 10in American believes aggression and mobility would be his main weapons against 6ft 9in Fury – but still names “morale” as the key factor for any fighter.
If Tyson was to come out of retirement and fight for the first time in 15 years, Fury is the exact opponent you would avoid facing.
Clearly Iron Mike still has a degree of his fast hands and power, but he can only put that to use against someone there to be hit – and the Gypsy King is renowned for his masterful defence.
The explosive and educated footwork and pressure Tyson once had in abundance during his prime would be the key to beating Fury – as he explained himself.

    4

The pair have met in person in the past
Tyson told Ring magazine: “Against someone of Tyson Fury’s size, you’ve got to be aggressive, move your head and be elusive because if you stand still against a man that size, you’re an easy target.
“You need to attack, use angles and stay away from his punching distance.
“You need to be close, but you can’t stay at a distance that allows the bigger fighter to get off.”
But, knowing what to do and having the ability to pull it off do not go hand in hand, making this a very hard fight for Tyson, who faces a battle to regain his timing and distance in the ring.
Boxing over three or four exhibition rounds does favour Iron Mike, though, as he can afford to empty the tank while not having to worry about the second half of the fight.

Meaning should Tyson come out of the blocks fast, and be in distance to let his punches fly, fans could be treated to a real spectacle.
But if Fury can do what he does best by controlling the bout with his expert jab and timing as well as his new found aggression shown against Wilder, Tyson faces a frustrating night, chasing shadows. More

Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev could take place in front of 2,000 fans at London’s 02 Arena in November, says Hearn

ANTHONY JOSHUA could face Kubrat Pulev in front of 2,000 people at the O2 Arena in November.
The heavyweights were supposed to meet in an IBF mandatory defence in June, until the coronavirus pandemic KO’d live sport.

With British boxing making a return this month, and promoter Eddie Hearn set to stage four behind closed doors events next month, Joshua’s next fight is back on track.
And following the government’s announcement of reduced crowds targeted for an October return, AJ could find himself fighting at the O2 Arena for the first time since 2016.
Dereck Chisora’s heavyweight headliner against Oleksandr Usyk is also planned to have an audience in attendance.
Hearn told The Telegraph: “We are making plans to stage the rest of the year behind closed doors with the exception of those two events, which will be pay per view.

“We are trialling the world snooker championships with 350 fans at the Crucible in Sheffield and we are working towards crowds in October and the end of November for Dereck and then AJ.
“It may be a case of convincing people to attend, and going through the right procedures to get people into the O2 Arena.
“It won’t be easy, but it’s our ambition to do it.”

    2

Hearn named the O2 as the most likely venue for Joshua’s unified title defence.

Should AJ beat Pulev, he has verbally agreed to a two-fight deal in 2021 with WBC champion Tyson Fury.
The pair exchanged a conversation in Marbella, where Hearn revealed they urged each other to avoid slip ups in their next bouts.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury discussed fight plans and vowed to meet ‘next year’ in Marbella encounter, says Hearn

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury discussed their proposed mega-fight next year after meeting face-to-face roadside in Marbella.
The heavyweight rulers were pictured having a chat in Spain last week, as they both holiday before their next title defences.

    2

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua shared a roadside encounter in Marbella
They verbally agreed to a two-fight deal for 2021, with Joshua, 30, first facing Kubrat Pulev, 39, and Fury, 31, rematching Deontay Wilder, 34.
And with the lure of an undisputed title decider to follow, the heavyweight rivals urged one another to avoid any unwanted slip ups.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed: “It was amazing, people think it was a set up.
“AJ said he was walking down the road and Fury drove up and opened the window and was like, ‘Alright?’

“I think he said to AJ, ‘Make sure you beat Kubrat Pulev.’ And AJ said, ‘Make sure you beat Deontay Wilder.’
“And they both said, ‘I will, and I’ll see you next year.’”

Joshua and Fury have agreed to a 50/50 split next year, with the winner in the immediate rematch taking the lion’s share 60 per cent.
But further mandatory defences are already threatening to scupper the historic Battle of Britain.

WBC mandatory Dillian Whyte, 32, has been promised a shot at Fury’s belt by February next year and the WBO have confirmed Oleksandr Usyk, 33, is next for AJ’s title.
Hearn admitted there is even a chance Joshua and Fury drop a belt to ensure they finally share the ring together.

Mike Tyson releases brutal footage of sparring session as Baddest Man on the Planet ramps up ring comeback bid

IT might not be sage to fight at his age, but Mike Tyson still looks the baddest and not the saddest.
The former unified world heavyweight champion, 54, edged closer to a comeback fight against possibly Evander Holyfield or Shannon Briggs with an even faster exhibition of his ferocious style.

    2

Boxing legend Mike Tyson looked fit and focused in his latest video – but aged 54 how much stamina would he have in a proper bout?

    2

Head down and coming forward, Mike Tyson suggested his style will not change, even if the era has
Legend Tyson appears well above spar in the latest video clip he has released after 15 years out of the ring.
This time Iron Mike focuses on his famous, swaying, head-down movement as he pummels both a punchbag and a sparring partner.
Tyson has been planning a series of charity fights as he aims to show the modern generation why he should still be labelled the “Baddest Man on the Planet”.
    DRIPPING WITH SWEAT
And although critics have questioned whether he could maintain his charging-bull energy of old, as highlighted in his new videos, he certainly looks increasingly sharp.

Drenched in sweat, Tyson appeared meaner and leaner, perhaps indicating he is serious about his return.
