Denzel Bentley first Brit boxer ever to take a knee for Black Lives Matter before impressive win over Mick Hall

DENZEL BENTLEY took a knee for Black Lives Matter and then snatched away Mick Hall’s eyes for his 13th professional win
The rapidly rising middleweight, nicknamed Too Sharp, used his introduction at the televised BT Sport studio fight to throw his support behind the cause.

    2

Denzel Bentley secured an important victory over Mick Hall – after taking a knee for Black Lives Matter
And, after taking one empowered stance, he was soon switching between a couple more as his moves from orthodox to southpaw helped him beat a semi-blinded Hall into a sixth-round submission.
With his hands gunslinger low at times, Battersea banger Bentley threw some crunching early counter shots.
And Hall did well to brush off a left-hand combination to ribs and chin that would have dropped a softer man.
Bentley told SunSport in quarantine on Thursday that he wanted to learn as much as he could inside the 10 rounds on offer and was busier with his jab in the second.

Orthodox Bentley switched to southpaw in the third and piled on the pressure but Hall, whose two defeats in 17 previous fights had only come against the respected Jack Arnfield, withstood some of his best shots.
Bentley had more leftie success in the fourth, enough to showboat for the empty arena and the thousands of fans finally getting some boxing on TV.
Preston hardman Hall was marked under his left eye by the end of the session and his corner worked hard to soothe the swelling before the fifth.
Hall didn’t let his welts wilt his determination, in the fifth it seemed like Bentley fancied a breather so the tattooed 34-year-old was able to score.

In the sixth, a scything Bentley one-two clattered into Hall’s swollen face but Bentley’s corner once again caught him admiring his work instead of pouncing on his prey.

Hall was wounded again moments later but, even pinned on the ropes, he hooked and pushed his way out of trouble but both eyes were now close-to-battered shut.
And referee Steve Gray wisely ended the contest with a caring tap on Hall’s shoulder and a wave of his arms to the skeleton-staffed studio.
Everyone had seen enough of Bentley’s exciting potential and Hall’s blind courage.

Dubois, 22, is one of Britain’s hottest prospects and has a proud unbeaten record of 14 straight wins.

His fight against Joyce is set to be the biggest test of his professional career as he takes on the 34-year-old former Olympian.
Joyce boasts win against the likes of Bermans Stiverne, Alexander Ustinov and Bryant Jennings, just in 2019.
Joyce is set for action this weekend as he takes on Michael Wallisch in a 10-round main event from BT Sport Studio in London.
    When is Dubois vs Joyce?
The fight was scheduled to go ahead on Saturday, April 11 but due to the pandemic it was scrapped.

Now a new date of October 24 has been slated and it will be held in the O2 arena as originally planned.
Promoter Frank Warren has talked about the announcement of the rescheduled date: “Lockdown has meant a delay, but we all want the fight to take place in October and we are hopeful that the government will give us the all-clear.
“What a position the winner will be in. They will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021.”

Dubois has been working hard since lockdown began but it didn’t come without its struggles.

He said: “I’ll be ready to go in October for sure. It has been tough during lockdown, but I have ticked over and I’m back in the Peacock gym helping my sparring partner Dorin Krasmaru get ready for his behind closed doors fight on Frank Warren’s bill on July 10.
“Hopefully in the near future I will be able to get some good overseas sparring in. I’ll be ready for October 24, so I hope Joe is coming prepared.”
Joyce was thought to be excited about the news, saying that he was staying on top of training and he ‘can’t wait to punch up Dubois’.

Daniel Dubois is set for an undefeated all-British heavyweight clash with former sparring partner Joe Joyce in October
He went onto say: “Obviously once lockdown started I had a good idea we wouldn’t meet in July, but I was always staying on top of training.
“Now gyms are open for athletes I can kick on and just keep my focus on the new date, finally settling the score with Dubois and moving on to a world title fight.” More

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr told NOT to go for a KO despite no judges scoring exhibition bout

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr have been told NOT to try and knock each other out – despite no judges scoring the exhibition bout.
The pair box over eight rounds in September 12, marking the first time Tyson has fought in 15 years.

But the California State Athletic Commission, who have sanctioned the exhibition, insisted neither should be looking to win by KO.
Commission executive director Andy Foster told Boxing Scene: “We can’t mislead the public as to this is some kind of real fight.
“They can get into it a little bit, but I don’t want people to get hurt. They know the deal.
“It’s an exhibition. They can exhibit their boxing skills, but I don’t want them using their best efforts to hurt each other.

“They’re going to spar hard, but they shouldn’t be going for a knockout. This isn’t a record-book type of fight.

“This is not world-championship boxing right now. It’s not what this is. People shouldn’t be getting knocked out.
“The public can see what kind of shape Roy and Mike are still in.”
Tyson, 54, and Jones, 51, will not box with head guards on, but will wear thicker 12oz gloves, instead of the regular 10oz.

The pair were briefed on the rules over Zoom call, with social media app Triller later paying a reported £40million to exclusively stream the fight.
Despite being urged to avoid KOs, without judges only a stoppage will guarantee a winner.
Should either get cut, the fight will be immediately stopped.

Mike Tyson comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr ‘may mess up’ future bout against me, claims Evander Holyfield

EVANDER HOLYFIELD has discussed Mike Tyson’s upcoming exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr as he stated he hopes to face his former foe in the future.
The former heavyweight world champion had been in talks to face Iron Mike later this year, but the 57-year-old has been overlooked by the Baddest Man on the Planet.

Instead, Tyson will now fight four-weight champ Jones Jr on September 12 in an eight-round affair in California.
But Holyfield has insisted he isn’t disappointed to have been robbed of the chance to face his rival, as he declared he hopes his battle with Captain Hook doesn’t effect his chances of a future match-up.
Speaking to BoxingScene.com, he said: “Mike may have wanted another exhibition before fighting me. By him doing this, it may mess up a future one [against me].
“We’d talked about it, but there was nothing solid on paper. We knew we wanted to do it first.

“When you do it second, people are going to judge how the first one is.
“Fans may not want to see it again once you stink up the place. It comes down to, ‘does he really want to fight me?’ Everybody wants to see me and him do it, so what is he doing?”
Asked whether he believes Tyson’s team dodged him in order to face Jones Jr, Holyfield added: “I can’t speculate. Whatever happened has happened. I was only dealing with one person.

MIKE TYSON had agreed a comeback with veteran wrestling star Bob Sapp – before he put pen to paper on his multi-million deal to take on Roy Jones Jr.

Former NFL star Sapp, who moved into cage fighting before taking to the world of wrestling, was set to take on the Baddest Man on the Planet – after Tyson’s brother-in-law convinced him.
That gave Tyson the idea that making a comeback in the boxing ring at 54 could be a money-spinner.
Tyson told TMZ: ” My brother-in-law said: “Listen, I know you don’t wanna fight, but would you fight Bob Sapp?

“They said yes and I said, yes I’ll fight him.”
American Sapp, who played for the Minnesota Vikings NFL team, has spent much of his fighting career in Japan.

After Tyson announced his comeback during the coronavirus lockdown, many stepped forward to take on the former undisputed heavyweight champion.
Evander Holyfield was tipped to take on Iron Mike and make it a trilogy against the man who bit part of his ear off.
Tyson Fury also wanted to face the man he was named after.
But Tyson has agreed to take on former champion Jones Jr on September 12.
It will be held over eight rounds in an exhibition match in California – but if one suffers a cut the fight will be stopped.

Watch ‘sickening’ seven-second KO by Seniesa Estrada – fastest ever – that left fans fuming ‘criminal’ fight took place

BOXING fans and industry insiders were left sickened by the SEVEN-SECOND KO Seniesa Estrada scored over novice Miranda Adkins.
It is the fastest knockout ever in women’s boxing – but viewers were disgusted the fight ever took place.

    2

Estrada unloaded on her helpless opponent

    2

Adkins hit the deck after just seven seconds – the quickest KO in women’s boxing history
Estrada, 28, strolled into the contest with an 18-0 record and an impressive seven stoppages at light-flyweight.
Adkins, 42, had enjoyed four wins against local Kansas debutants before rematching a girl to score her fifth.
Estrada, who had previously split an opponent’s forehead open, walked across the ring at the first bell and fired seven unanswered shots at her woefully over-matched victim.
Miranda, who only started boxing aged 40, collapsed to the canvas – her head narrowly missing the bottom rope – and then fight was thankfully waved off.

Broadcasters DAZN, promoters Golden Boy and the WBA sanctioning body celebrated the fastest win in women’s boxing history.
But respected boxing names, led by legendary trainer Russ Abner, led the protests at the horrible farce of a contest.
Abner wrote on Instagram: “In my 40+ years in this game, I have seen some terrible s***.

Estrada was 18-0 coming into this. Her opponent, Miranda Adkins, is 42 with a total of five pro fights. The result? A seven-second KO. Scary to think this could have been even worse. https://t.co/7c2jW5qEqe
    — Ben Baby (@Ben_Baby) July 25, 2020

That was hard to watch, I’m glad Miranda Adkins seems OK but she didn’t know how to defend herself the moment the bell rang. Way over her head against a killer like Seniesa Estrada
    — Ryan Songalia (@ryansongalia) July 25, 2020

“However, this ranks up there as one of the most sickening, disgusting things I have ever seen.

“Whoever was responsible for sending that poor, helpless woman into the ring should be tried for premeditated assault!
“You should be ashamed of yourselves. May this vision haunt you for the rest of your lives! You are disgusting!
“I am sickened and embarrassed for boxing! Who the f* let this happen!?? F***s all of you!”

Shame on @GoldenBoyBoxing for putting Estrada in with Adkins! Terrible for the sport, that poor woman had no business being in there with Estrada.
    — Coach Erik Duncan (@Big_E_Dunk) July 25, 2020

Former WBO cruiserweight king Enzo Maccarinelli wrote: “Terrible mismatch.”
Respected boxing writer Kevin Iole said: “It was one of the worst things I have ever seen. This woman belonged nowhere near Seniesa Estrada.
    “That was DISGUSTING.”
Estrada said afterwards: “I give Adkins so much credit because she stood up and took the fight.

Tyson, 53, revealed his stunning offer came after he bribed a worker to open the zoo back in the late 80s so he and then wife Robin Givens could enjoy a private and romantic stroll among the animals.
But he suddenly got an idea as they approached the ape enclosure and spotted a dominant alpha male bullying the rest of the submissive group.
He attempted to offer the cash to the zookeeper to open the cage so he could go in there and punch the gorilla.
