How ‘broke’ Floyd Mayweather won and lost $1bn career earnings from lavish parties to love for jewellery

FLOYD MAYWEATHER joined Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods on the elite list of sportsmen to have earned a billion dollars during their career.
Yet he has still been forced to deny “crazy” accusations that he needs to make yet another boxing comeback because he’s somehow blown his extraordinary wealth.

Mayweather said he will come out of retirement in 2020

    11

    Rapper 50 Cent claimed Mayweather’s ‘money’s gone’
In November, the 43-year-old announced he is “coming out of retirement in 2020” and would be working with UFC boss Dana White on a “spectacular event”.
Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen reckons Mayweather is “broke” and has to fight once more for a desperately needed payday.
Sonnen said: “I will tell you unequivocally, right now, Floyd Mayweather does, and is planning, to box one more time.
“Floyd’s broke. You’ve got to understand, the only thing more embellished than Floyd Mayweather’s pay-per-view numbers is Floyd Mayweather’s net worth, and he made a lot of money, but remember this: It does not matter what you made, it matters what you kept, and he is a dumb-dumb.”

Despite officially retiring in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in a money-spinning crossover bout which is said to have earned the American £300m, Mayweather has resorted to charging fans £1,200 for online meet-and-greets.
He also went on a UK tour before the coronavirus pandemic, with former friend and now rival 50 Cent claiming the boxer’s “money’s gone” and will “be at your local nightclub because he needs that action right now”.
But how could Mayweather possibly have frittered away his entire fortune?
He still regularly posts videos on his social media flaunting his impressive jewellery collection, chains and stacks of cash.

    11

Mayweather himself has confessed for having a passion for watches, and in January last year showed off his 41-piece collection with a £14m ‘Billionaire watch’ by Jacob & Co the most expensive of the lot.
As a Las Vegas resident he is also an avid gambler, and according to Terezowens, Mayweather won nearly £2.3m betting on college football in 2012.
But the gamble doesn’t always pay off.
According to diaspora7 sources in 2018, the five-weight champion was in nearly £40m debt from betting, and wanted to rematch Manny Pacquiao to pay it off.
In 2009, he was forced to pay £4.5m back in taxes and in 2018 settled for £600,000 with the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose payments.
Before fighting McGregor, Mayweather owed the IRS £17.8m, and sued them so that he could pay the debt after his lucrative bout with the Irishman.
During the pre-fight build up, The Notorious voiced his concern at Mayweather’s apparent gambling issue.
McGregor said: “He needs to let that gambling go – he’s a bit heavy on that gambling. He’s always talking about doing it and then not doing it.
“I certainly know he has a big-time gambling problem, from seeing him. He gambles on half-times and things like that.

Mayweather has properties in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and needs them to keep all his red wine in
“He shows what his wins are, never shows what the losses are. Maybe that’s why he’s in the position he’s in and he had to take this fight. I’m focused on the fight, not gambling.”
And in 2018, 50 Cent said: “He gets in an uncomfortable space when he spends the money.
“He going try to spend it all… the money, the gambling and the girls get him every time.”
Mayweather has a whole garage of luxury vehicles including FIVE Rolls-Royces worth over a staggering £2m.
That is on top of his Vegas home worth £8m, a Miami property costing £6.2m and Beverly Hills mansion which he spent £19m on.
Throughout his career the boxing legend would also fly on his own private jet, which he now uses in retirement as he travels the world.
Mayweather not only enjoys attending lavish parties, but hosting them, as he splashed the cash on his 43rd birthday bash in LA with a host of celebrities attending the event
Despite the overwhelming amount of spending, Mayweather is said to have earned at least £500m alone for his fights against McGregor, Pacquiao and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Before facing McGregor, Mayweather showed off the guaranteed $100m cheque he was given by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which he claimed was uncashed.
And McGregor swiftly replied: “That’s for the taxman.”
Just last month Mayweather revealed he would “absolutely” come out of retirement for a  McGregor rematch, or to fight UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, but wants £480m to face the two.
He said: “Like I said before, I’m retired but I’m not retired from getting a couple of dollars. If I’m able to entertain the world and have some fun, and this is easy entertainment and I can make $600million with two guys, why not?
“If I can go get $600-more-million invested and leave it to my children and my grandchildren and my loved ones, why not? Absolutely.”
Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz had told TMZ Mayweather was “begging” to box the UFC champion, because he needed the money.
Abdelaziz said: “Floyd Mayweather to this day keeps begging to fight Khabib – begging!
“Floyd’s running out of money. I’m telling you, people are reaching out to me every week about Floyd to fight Khabib but at the end of the day, we’re not interested – for now.”

He said: “It’s crazy. You guys hear things about ‘Floyd needs money’. I don’t need (anything) but I don’t mind making some more money.”
And you wouldn’t bet against him doing exactly that.

Anthony Joshua threatened by Dillian Whyte and blasts ‘he talks a lot of c***’ after rival vowed to ‘give him a punch’

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been accused of “talking c**p” by Dillian Whyte after threatening to give him a punch.
WBA, IBF and WBO king Joshua – who beat Whyte in 2015 – will be ringside to watch his rival face former opponent Alexander Povetkin, 40, on August 22.

    2

Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua have reigned their feud

    2

Joshua lost to Whyte in the amateurs but won the rematch as a pro
AJ – who beat the Russian via a seventh-round TKO in 2018 – told Sky Sports: “I might get in there and give him a punch as well. You’re getting me psyched up now.”
The warning, however serious or not, did not go down well with Whyte.
Whyte, 32, responded: “He might get a box, if he does that. If he does that, he might get a box, there and then, one box.
“He thinks it’s a game, but I don’t play games with these guys.

“They think it’s a game, scream and shout and get in each other’s faces, but if he does, he will get a box.
“There’s no consistency with him. He says this, then he says that. He just talks a lot of c***.
“I’m sick and tired of all these guys that’s talking, talking, talking all the time.”

The heavyweight feud dates back to 2009, when Whyte beat Joshua in the amateurs.
Their rematch came six years later, which AJ won after a savage uppercut in round seven.
They have held talks over a decider, but Whyte instead chose to pursue the WBC title, now held by Tyson Fury, 31.
Fury won the belt against Deontay Wilder, 34, in February but is contracted to a third bout with the American.
Should he win, the WBC have mandated him to face Whyte, further delaying an undisputed title spectacle against Joshua.
But Whyte has not ruled out fighting AJ over the Gypsy King as long as he can challenge for his first world championship.

Mike Tyson puts shark to sleep by tickling its nose while scuba diving as boxing legend admits ‘I’m scared to death’

MIKE TYSON put a shark to sleep by tickling its nose while scuba diving – but only after throwing up and admitting he was “scared to death”.
The 54-year-old boxing icon took on the underwater challenge to kick off Discovery Channel’s ‘Shark Week’.

Tyson admitted he wasn’t feeling confident
Iron Mike was pitted against the shark over three rounds, dubbed “Tyson vs Jaws”.
And it ended with him achieving “tonic immobility” – a temporary state of inactivity in the shark.
The first part of the challenge saw Tyson cage-diving with lemon sharks.
In the second round the ante was upped with an open ocean dive where he had to push the sharks gently away if they got too close.

By the final stage Tyson threw up before diving nearly 50 feet underwater without a cage.

He had to grab a shark and try to induce tonic immobility, which he did by grabbing its nose as it swam past him.
Tyson travelled to the Bahamas for the challenge and according to Bleacher Report, he worked with scientists to get more comfortable with sharks.
The trip came as he prepares to make his boxing comeback, 15 years after retiring.

Tyson faces Roy Jones Jr, 51, in an eight-round exhibition, which has been moved from September to November.
The reformed Baddest Man on The Planet revealed Shark Week helped conquer his fears and in turn prepared him mentally for his anticipated ring return.

Conor McGregor training partner Dillon Danis will ‘100 per cent’ fight either Jake or Logan Paul in boxing or MMA match

DILLON DANIS is “100 per cent” confident he will fight either Jake or Logan Paul.
Danis, a 2-0 Bellator welterweight and also Conor McGregor’s training partner, has been involved in an online feud with the YouTube brothers.

    2

Dillon Danis called out Jake and Logan Paul

    2

Jake and Logan have both boxed and hinted at an MMA switch
In particular he has clashed with 23-year-old Jake, who won his pro boxing debut in February and faces former NBA star Nate Robinson next month
But promoter Eddie Hearn has also been in talks with Danis to fight Logan – who lost to YouTube rival KSI last year. But this time in a cage.
Whichever brother gets the nod, Danis is adamant he will fight one, either in the boxing ring or cage.
He told ESPN: “Jake is the one that really wants to fight me, Logan wants to fight me in MMA.

“They both know I’m the only one that makes sense in MMA, there’s no one that has a name like me.
“Eddie Hearn has talked to me before, about Logan Paul. They have reached out, so like it will happen, 100 per cent.
    “One of them will happen.”

Boxing news: Mike Tyson will be ‘blowing out of his a***’ in comeback fight v Roy Jones Jr, says Carl Froch

MIKE TYSON has been warned he will be “blowing out his a***” in his comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr.
Former super-middleweight king Carl Froch believes Iron Mike, 54, will find his ring return a stark wake up call when it comes to fitness.

    2

Former world champ Froch says Tyson will struggle for fitness in his comeback fightCredit: PA:Press Association
Tyson’s incredible body transformation and impressive training videos suggest he has rediscovered the speed and power that made him the biggest heavyweight draw through the Nineties.
But Froch believes both Tyson – who reckons he is the greatest boxer “since the conception of God” – and Jones Jr, 51, will struggle once the bell rings.
He told the Froch on Fighting podcast: “Would he lose the plot like he did against [Evander] Hollyfield and take a chunk of the old ear off?
“There could be a danger where he gets really frustrated.

“Those 16-ounce gloves are going to be more difficult to knock his opponent out.
“And then they’re going to be blowing out of their a**** after three or four rounds, surely?
“We’re blowing out of our a*** after four rounds as young professional fighters.
“We just manage the recovery and breathe differently and go a bit flat-footed through the fight.

    2

Tyson’s amazing physique suggests he will be able to handle his return to the ring

“But when you’re in your 50s, you’re absolutely exhausted and you can’t recover.
“Your fitness is your ability to recover and you can’t recover when you’re old.
“So there is a danger of this becoming a no contest after four rounds, there really is.”
While the rest of the world waits with bated breath to see what happens when Tyson and Jones Jr meet on September 12, Brit hero Froch has been against the exhibition fight from the start.
He previously said Tyson should call off his comeback because there is no way he can replicate being the fighter he was before.
Froch said: “I mean if you’re in your 30s and been retired a year or two I’d say no, don’t bother, because you can never be what you was.
“During your 50s you should not even be considering it.

Grinning Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora meet up in London after Gypsy King learns he will have to face Dillian Whyte

TYSON FURY grinned as he met up with old pal Dereck Chisora in London.
Chisora, 36, who twice lost to 31-year-old Fury, posted a video online alongside the WBC heavyweight champion.

    1

Tyson Fury grinned as he met up with old pal Dereck Chisora in London
The video comes following the news Fury will have to fight Dillian Whyte, 32, if he beats Deontay Wilder, 34.
Whyte also has two wins over Chisora on his run to becoming the WBC’s mandatory challenger.
Should he defeat Alexander Povetkin, 40, on August 22 it sets him up for a world title shot.
Fury is contracted to a third fight with Wilder, which was targeted for December but could now be moved to early 2021.

It further delays an undisputed title decider against Anthony Joshua, 30, who faces Kubrat Pulev, 39, in his next defence.
Joshua also faces a heavyweight headache with Oleksandr Usyk, 33, mandatory for his WBO belt.
But Usyk is still due to face Chisora after the coronavirus pandemic KO’d their May headliner.
Chisora hopes an upset win over the former cruiserweight king would land him a showdown with Finchley Amateur Boxing friend AJ.
