Dillian Whyte says ‘I’m the real Gypsy King’ as he prepares for Povetkin fight in Essex car park Winnebago

DILLIAN WHYTE sat on his caravan steps in a field at the side of the M25 waiting for a fight and roared at Tyson Fury: ‘I am the real Gypsy King’.
The 32-year-old Brixton ace is holed up in a Winnebago in Brentwood to prepare for his fight with Russian dangerman Alexander Povetkin on Saturday.

SunSport’s boxing man Wally Downes Jr with Whyte
A 12th consecutive win will earn him the WBC’s diamond belt and secure the shot at the main belt Fury currently holds, that must happen before March.
Fury has flipped between promising Whyte his hard-earned shot – after he has dealt with his Deontay Wilder trilogy – and vowing to ditch the title if the sanctioning body forces him to face the Body Snatcher.
So Whyte went on record to tell SunSport he is the hardest travelling, biggest banging, real road warrior around.
He said: “I drove 40-hours with my three dogs out to my training base in Portugal for a 22-week camp away from home for this fight.

“Now I am living in a caravan for a week before fighting a dangerous Russian, in an Essex field, on the side of the motorway.
“I will fight anyone, anywhere and that is why I am the real Gypsy King and I have even got my flat cap to prove it.
“Tyson Fury likes to tell people that he is but let’s see.
“Fury had a privileged upbringing, went to a posh school in an expensive area and lives in a lovely house. What kind of gypsy is he?”

‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury is the current WBC heavyweight champion
Whyte and Fury have been involved in a verbal war for years and the Jamaica-born star believes he has dug up some dirt that would harm his reputation and public appeal.
The 6ft 9in champion lists his full name as Tyson Luke Fury, which has boosted his brand and helped secure meetings with the Iron Mike legend he was named after.
But Whyte insists his team have evidence that he has switched his Christian names around to sound like the Baddest Man on the Planet.
Whyte said: “My real name is Dillian. I know his real name is Luke.
“He changed it to Tyson to make himself sound harder. People can have a little look around on the internet and see for themselves.
“In boxing, the name Tyson is a lot more sellable than Luke.

I will fight anyone, anywhere and that is why I am the real Gypsy King and I have even got my flat cap to prove it.
    Dillian Whyte

“A lot of what Tyson does and says is a game, you can never take anything he says seriously or at face value.
“He might say he wants to fight me sometimes but how can you trust a man who doesn’t even use his own name?”
Vladimir Putin-backed Povetkin has been up to his usual tricks at the claustrophobic Holiday Inn, sending two of his burly team to try to spy on Whyte’s training sessions.
The 40-year-old Olympic champ tried the same intimidation tactics when he came to London to face Anthony Joshua in 2018.
But Whyte’s close-knit team managed to spot the two Soviet powerhouses attempting to hide behind the foliage and the WBC interim champ laughed it off.
“I was just doing some strength and conditioning training,” he laughed.
“Did they think they were going to catch me going through my gameplan or sparring?

Dillian Whyte slams Frank Warren’s Dubois fight offer and says ‘he’s just trying to deviate from me facing Tyson Fury’

DILLIAN WHYTE accused Frank Warren of trying to “deviate” him from fighting Tyson Fury.
It came after the promoter challenged Whyte, 32, to box his 22-year-old prospect Daniel Dubois.

    2

    2

Warren challenged Whyte to box his prospect Daniel Dubois.
But with the heavyweight already mandatory to face Tyson Fury, 31, he slammed Warren’s audacious offer.
Whyte told South London Press: “Frank needs to stay off the liquor, man.
“He’s just trying to deviate from the Tyson Fury fight.
“Why would I fight Daniel Dubois when I’m mandatory for the WBC world title? Daniel brings nothing at all to the table.

“There’s no reason for me to fight me.
“They know I love a fight and it doesn’t take much to get me into a fight, so they are just trying to throw some weight out there.”

Whyte has been told should he beat Alexander Povetkin, 40, on Saturday night, he is next in line for Fury’s belt.
But the Gypsy King – who is contracted to face 34-year-old Deontay Wilder next – has already agreed a two-fight deal with unified champion Anthony Joshua, 30.

With the WBC standing firm that Whyte is next in line for the title, Warren warned Fury could vacate to instead fight Joshua.
He said: “He ain’t fighting Dillian Whyte. That ain’t happening this year.
“And I’ve got tell you next year it ain’t gonna happen. Because all he wants to fight, he wants Anthony Joshua.”

He has since got engaged to long-time partner Devlin, with UFC president Dana White opening the door for a 2021 comeback for the Irishman.
But McGregor appears to still be flirting with the possibility of returning to boxing, having lost his ring debut to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
He uploaded a picture on Instagram with Devlin and captioned the post: “Bert Sugar, I am boxing.”
McGregor posed with a fedora and an unlit cigar – two trademarks of Sugar.

The American writer, who died in 2012, is regarded as one the greatest boxing reporters of all time.

The historian edited Boxing Illustrated and wrote more than 80 books, focussing also on baseball.
McGregor’s tribute could go some way to hinting at his next career move.
He put his UFC career on hold in 2017 to chase a bout with Mayweather, which he lost in round 10 in what is the second most lucrative fight of all time.

McGregor made headlines March 2017 when he accompanied Michael Conlan to the ring and announced plans to crossover sports.
Afterwards he famously roared “I am boxing” in front of ringside media members.

Mike Tyson shows off lean body transformation as 54-year-old sheds pounds despite fears Jones Jr bout could be OFF

MIKE TYSON has shown off the latest results from his astonishing body transformation, looking ultra-lean despite suggestions his fight with Roy Jones Jr could be OF.
The boxing legend, 54, appears to be in the shape of his life as he prepares to take on fellow his veteran in November.

    4

Mike Tyson has been grinding in the gym, shedding the pounds while packing on muscle ahead of his fight with Roy Jones Jr
Tyson posted a series of pictures on his Instagram looking chiselled and focused.
He captioned the post of himself wearing a “Tyson” T-shirt: “Iron will.”
The American legend has been working hard in the gym for months now after first teasing his comeback in May.
Tyson retired in 2005 and claimed to have not trained since his last loss, against Kevin McBride 15 years ago.

And he now looks a completely different man from the one seen in 2018, after shedding the pounds and packing on the muscle after taking his return to the ring seriously.
However, Tyson’s grind in the gym could all be in vain with his Jones suggesting he could pull out of the fight.
The pair agreed to an eight-round exhibition bout to be held on September 12.
But social media app Triller, who have the pay-per-view rights for the spectacle, announced it would be postponed by over two months – with a new date set on November 28.

He told the Daily Mail: “We’re trying to figure something out, my lawyers is talking with their lawyers, trying to figure out ways to make it a better situation so that I can compensated for it, that is more beneficial for me to do.
“If they don’t make it make sense, [the fight] would be off.
“Why would I change the date and mess up the rest of my year when I agreed to September 12.”
The fight was due to go behind closed doors, with an unnamed but recognised sanctioning body overseeing the bout.

Dillian Whyte vs Alexander Povetkin: How heavyweight KO kings compare with winner set to take on Tyson Fury for WBC belt

DILLIAN WHYTE faces one more hurdle before moving a step closer to facing Tyson Fury – and that is beating Alexander Povetkin.
Whyte headlines the final show from Eddie Hearn’s ‘Fight Camp’ in the garden of his Matchroom HQ in Brentwood, Essex.

    3

The 32-year-old puts his WBC mandatory status on the line, with Povetkin ready to spoil the party on Saturday.
Billed “Battle of the left hooks”, the two heavy-hitters will be hoping to produce fireworks despite the lack of any fans.
Here SunSport breaks down the fight.
    DILLIAN WHYTE
Since his only loss in the paid ranks, to Anthony Joshua in 2015, Whyte has become one of the most improved heavyweights in the world.

His power and lead hook has always been prominent, but now he is boxing with educated pressure and a forceful jab.
Whyte is also a great in-fighter, managing to fire off quick combinations when pressed up against opponents.
Managing to box to strict tactics and avoid being overzealous has steered him to massive victories over the likes of Joseph Parker, Dereck Chisora and Oscar Rivas.
He has also proven to be resilient, picking himself off the canvas against Parker and Rivas, when leading the fight, to regain composure before earning a decision.

Against Chisora in their second fight Whyte was even behind on the two of the scorecards, but remained calm, not forcing the fight, before finishing with a devastating round 11 KO.
What Whyte may lack in hand speed he makes up for in timing and power and when coming forward the former kickboxer takes a lot to stop.

    3

Dillian Whyte is mandatory for the WBC title Credit: Getty Images
    ALEXANDER POVETKIN
Despite turning 41 next month, Povetkin is still considered one of the most dangerous punchers in the blue ribbon division.
His performance against Anthony Joshua in 2018 – which saw him KO’d in round seven – is evidence to the claim.
He had AJ wobbled in the opening stages with sneaky hooks and uppercuts on the inside.
Povetkin’s ability to generate powerful shots on the inside is a big advantage, bearing in mind how dangerous he is in mid-range.
The Russian’s left hook is his biggest weapon, the punch that laid out David Price in 2017.
But Povetkin did box lethargically against Michael Hunter last December, and somehow escaped with a draw.
He was often beaten to the punch and outworked by his younger opponent.
Keeping a fast pace is key to beating the ex-world champion, or else risk allowing Povetkin to control the range and set up power punches.

    FIGHT OUTCOME
Up until two years ago, Povetkin had never been KO’d, losing only to Wladimir Klitschko on points.
But AJ’s ability to to use punches in bunches up close and utilise a better jab set him up for the finish with the Russian on the back foot.
Whyte on the other hand has a different style to Joshua, relying more on heavier shots rather than faster combinations.
Povetkin, though, has proven he can sustain single shots, meaning Whyte could be forced to set a high tempo to try and draw a knockout win.
That would risk trading punches with his opponent, whereas his jab, strength and steady work rate could steer the Brit to a more comfortable points win.
With so much on the line for the WBC interim champion, and Povetkin coming with nothing to lose, fighting tactically and securing the judges verdict could be the likely outcome for Whyte.

Anthony Joshua will NOT fight Tyson Fury if Gypsy King is stripped of WBC belt and will face Dillian Whyte instead

EDDIE HEARN has revealed Anthony Joshua will prioritise a rematch against Dillian Whyte for the WBC title if Tyson Fury is stripped of his belt.
The Matchroom promoter revealed earlier in the week how the WBA, WBO and IBF king is keen to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999.

    3

And Hearn has once again stressed how AJ will press ahead to fight WBC mandatory Whyte should Fury refuse to face the Body Snatcher.
The winner of Saturday’s showdown between Whyte and Alexander Povetkin are mandated to fight the victor of Fury’s trilogy against Deontay Wilder.
But Hearn has stated that Fury’s team aren’t keen on a domestic dust-up with Whyte, which could jeopardise a blockbuster bout between the Gypsy King and AJ.
Speaking to iFL TV, he said: “People said from Fury’s team, ‘We are not fighting Dillian Whyte.

“So I said, ‘If you don’t fight Dillian Whyte, you’re going to be stripped of your world title.’
“And then I said, by the way, Anthony Joshua wants to win the WBC world title because he wants to win all the belts. He wants to be undisputed.’
“So if Tyson Fury vacates the belt, then AJ can’t win the WBC belt. So, therefore, he’ll fight Dillian Whyte for the WBC belt.”
    HEAR ME OUT
Before adding: “If Anthony Joshua wants to fight Tyson Fury, it can’t even be for the undisputed until he’s boxed Dillian Whyte.

“It’s never been about Fury. He wanted to fight Wilder since he had the WBC title.
“As soon as Fury beat him, Joshua wanted to fight Fury. By the way, he still wants to fight Fury belt or no belt, but that’s his decision.”
Whyte has been vocal in his desire to face Fury, as he claimed his rival is scared of facing him.
He told Sky Sports: “He said he was a fighting man. Before he won the belt, he said he was going to fight me. He just talks rubbish. He said he was going to do this to me, do that to me.
“‘When I beat Deontay Wilder, I’m going to give Dillian the first shot at the belt, because he deserves it, he’s waited so long and he’s worked so hard.’

Whyte claims Tyson Fury’s real name is LUKE.. and he changed it to sound ‘harder’

“After he wins the fight, he talks about fighting Derek Chisora. He’s a joker. The WBC have obviously come forward and said you have to fight me now, so let’s see what he’s going to do.
“He’s tried everything to avoid me. Even without waiting for the outcome of my fight with Povetkin, he’s so scared about the prospect of fighting me that his promoter begged the WBC to elevate him to ‘Franchise’ champion to keep him out of my clutches.
“Mauricio has said publicly that that ain’t happening. All going well, he’ll be all mine, but I fully expect him to run, run and run, just like that coward Wilder before him.”

Watch Tyson Fury train on beach in preparation for Deontay Wilder and entertain crowd by singing American Pie

TYSON FURY stepped up his training ahead of his third fight with Deontay Wilder with a workout on the beach… and a sing-song.
The British star, 32, is preparing to complete his trilogy with the Bronze Bomber before a double-header with Anthony Joshua.

    4

Tyson Fury trained on Morecambe beach before singing American Pie

    4

Fury thrilled onlookers with his rendition of an old favourite
The first fight with AJ could potentially be an all-British heavyweight unification fight.
But he must battle past old foe Wilder, first.
Despite the pressure, Fury clearly hasn’t let it get to him as he thrilled fans in Morecambe yet again.
The Gypsy King enjoyed a workout on the beach in front of his supporters.

He shared a picture of his session – wearing an all-black outfit and red boxing gloves – to Instagram.
Fury captioned the snap: “Come get some from the ever ready champ! #bringiton”.
But once his training was done, Fury went on to enjoy his other love… singing.
The British star gave his adoring crowd a rendition of one of his old favourites – Don McLean’s American Pie, the same song he belted out after his win over Wilder in February.

After serenading the beach-goers, Fury roared: “Thank you Morecambe!”

Proud Morecambe star Fury has been a regular on the bay in recent weeks.
As well as showing off the latest car to his ever-growing collection – a classic MINI Cooper – Fury has sparred with dad John on the beach AND taken part in a gruelling seven-mile wheelchair race.
As well as Joshua and Wilder, Fury is meant to fight Dillian Whyte in the near-future as WBC mandatory challenger.
Whyte is currently in line to take on Fury but could surrender his chance to Alexander Povetkin if he loses the “Diamond” belt in the final Fight Camp next Saturday.
Speaking to iFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn said: “[The WBC Diamond] is on the line for the first time.
