Roy Jones Jr says he WILL fight Mike Tyson after threatening to pull out and take legal action over date delay

ROY JONES JR said he WILL fight Mike Tyson following rumors that he had pulled out of the November 28 showdown.
In an Instagram video about the fight, Jones said: “They gave me a new term, a new date and a new chance to act a fool, which is what I love to do anyway.”

The four-weight world champion told his followers to “be ready” come November 28.
He captioned the social media post: “Lifestyle is war at all cost. No mask…….. just WAR.”
Jones’ response came after news broke that he was considering pulling out of the Tyson fight, after it was delayed from its original date of September 12 to November 28.
Jones, 51, took legal action and warned if he was not compensated for earnings lost then he could walk away from the event.

“We’re trying to figure something out, my lawyers is (sic) talking with their lawyers, trying to figure out ways to make it a better situation so that I can compensated for it, that is more beneficial for me to do,” he told the Daily Mail.

“If they don’t make it make sense, it (the fight) would be off.
“Why would I change the date and mess up the rest of my year when I agreed to September 12.”
The eight-round bout was due to go behind closed doors, with an unnamed but recognized sanctioning body overseeing the fight.

Organizers are hoping that by the new November 28 date spectators could be allowed back into venues.
Jones addressed those claims, adding: “They said they wanted to get a crowd, if you want to get a crowd, that’s a different type of money.
“If they want a big event, that’s a different type of money.”

Tyson, 54, has been training since March ahead of his sensational comeback. He last fought 15 years ago after announcing his retirement in 2005.
Jones who last boxed in 2018, admitted the new date could benefit him as it allows more time to prepare.
“If everything works out, yes,” he said.
“I don’t know if things… if everything will work yet.
“But if everything works out then yeah, it probably will help me.”

Floyd Mayweather says he doesn’t ‘give a f***’ about good or bad press regarding him ‘as long as you wrote the story’

FLOYD MAYWEATHER admitted he could not “give a f***” about good or bad press about him – “as long as you wrote the story”.
The former pound-for-pound king divided opinion outside the ring for his brash and arrogant persona, which helped him break box office records.

But he could only be unanimously praised for his iconic 50-0 career, which included 16 consecutive wins against world champions.
Even in retirement the 43-year-old even remains one of the world’s most discussed fighters.
And whether it’s criticism or praise, Mayweather is grateful to be the topic of discussion.
He said on Instagram: “To my team and my staff, you guys are amazing and to all the fans, I want to say thank you for all the support.

“And to all the writers; whether you wrote a good story about me or whether you wrote a bad story about me, I don’t give a f***, as long as you wrote the story.”

Mayweather retired in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor, bringing an end to his legendary 21-year career.
The gifted counter puncher enjoyed an unorthodox training regime during his run.
But those tireless hours in the gym paved the way for his unbeaten dominance.

Mayweather explained: “I had a great career. I had good days in the boxing gym, as well as bad days.

Dillian Whyte sheds more than a STONE as he weighs in at 18st 6lbs for Povetkin fight after body transformation

DILLIAN WHYTE weighed in at 18st 6lbs for Saturday’s bout with Alexander Povetkin after shedding more than a stone.
The Body-Snatcher had undergone a stunning body transformation after coming in at a career heaviest 19st 5lbs for his win over Mariusz Wach in December.

Whyte weighed a career heaviest for his last bout – a whopping 19st 5lbs
Povetkin also boasted an impressive physique as he weighed in at 16st, five pounds lighter than when he battled to a draw with Michael Hunter before Christmas.
And despite having more than TWO STONE over his Russian rival, Whyte admitted he was wary of the threat posed by the former WBA champion.

He told Sky Sports: “He’s a dangerous guy and I can see in his eyes he’s up for it and he’s motivated, and he wants to have a go.
“But if I’m fit, I can beat all of these guys. We know what he does. He has been doing it consistently for 15 years. It is very hard to defeat that but I know what to do.

“What sets me apart? I adapt on the job. I know what to do. I know when to box, when to fight, I have learned from my mistakes.
“If I land, it will be a problem because I feel strong. The plan is to knock him out. But the first plan is to get a victory.”

    Dillian Whyte

Whyte, 32, has spent his lockdown being put through his paces in the gruelling heat to ensure he works himself back into terrific shape.
He took the fight against Mariusz Wach on just three weeks’ notice and looked sluggish inside the ring despite scraping a unanimous point win.

But he has now given himself the best chance to best Povetkin at the weekend and land his long-awaited title shot with either Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder.
And Whyte has already started the mind games against the Russian after arriving at the weigh-in sporting a tartan tracksuit.

Anthony Joshua predicts Dillian Whyte will struggle against Povetkin and calls Brit rival out for rematch

ANTHONY JOSHUA has predicted that Dillian Whyte will struggle to match his victory over Alexander Povetkin.
AJ stopped the Russian heavyweight in the seventh round of their world title fight at Wembley and will be ringside to watch his clash with the Body-Snatcher on Saturday.

AJ, who will be ringside for Whyte’s fight with Alexander Povetkin, famously approached the ring after the Body Snatcher beat Dereck Chisora
Whyte has already revealed that he is targeting an early win over Povetkin with the victor mandated to fight the victor of Tyson Fury’s trilogy against Deontay Wilder.
Yet Joshua has warned his Brit rival that he will be made to work for it when he faces the former WBA champion this weekend.
AJ told Sky Sports: “Everyone has issues in training, if he [Whyte] trained right, he will come through.
“He is a fighter, Dillian. But Povetkin is a seriously skilled heavyweight – an Olympic gold medallist, a world champion whose only losses were against [Wladimir] Klitschko and me.

“He’s good, a good fighter who hasn’t been on the losing end much so hasn’t got used to that feeling.
“He still has the hunger and will go in against Dillian thinking he can win.”
Asked for his prediction, Joshua added: “It will go to a points decision.”

    Anthony Joshua

Joshua was beaten by Whyte in an amateur 2009 battle before gaining revenge by stoppage six years later in the professional ranks.
The Watford boxer has already been warned that he will be chinned should he confront the Brixton ace in the ring as he did after the latter beat Dereck Chisora in 2018.
Eddie Hearn has already revealed Joshua will prioritise a rematch against Whyte for the WBC title if Fury is stripped of his belt.
The Matchroom promoter revealed earlier in the week how the WBA, WBO and IBF king is keen to become the first undisputed heavyweight champ since 1999.
And Whyte told Sky Sports: “If he wants it, he can get it.
“I’ve told him already before. I’ve told him many times. I’m not scared to fight him. I want to fight him. It’s not like it’s a secret.”

Tyson Fury’s ‘real name is LUKE… but he changed it to sound ‘harder’ like Iron Mike’, claims Dillian Whyte

The Gypsy King, 31, lists his full name as Tyson Luke Fury.

    2

The Gypsy King lists his full name as Tyson Luke Fury
That has boosted his brand and helped secure meetings with legend ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.
But 32-year-old Whyte insists his team have evidence that he switched his Christian names around to sound like the Baddest Man on the Planet.
He told SunSport: “My real name is Dillian. I know his real name is Luke.
“He changed it to Tyson to make himself sound harder. People can have a little look around on the internet and see for themselves.

“In boxing, the name Tyson is a lot more sellable than Luke.
“A lot of what Tyson does and says is a game, you can never take anything he says seriously or at face value.

    Whyte on Fury’s name

Whyte is holed up in a Winnebago in Brentwood to prepare for his fight with Russian dangerman Alexander Povetkin on Saturday.

A 12th consecutive win will earn him the WBC’s diamond belt and secure the shot at the main belt Fury currently holds.
Fury has flipped between promising Whyte his hard-earned shot and vowing to ditch the title if the sanctioning body forces him to face the Body Snatcher.
So Whyte went on record to tell SunSport he is the hardest travelling, biggest banging, real road warrior around.
He said: “I drove 40-hours with my three dogs out to my training base in Portugal for a 22-week camp away from home for this fight.
“Now I am living in a caravan for a week before fighting a dangerous Russian, in an Essex field, on the side of the motorway.

Whyte claims he ‘bashed’ WBC champ Tyson Fury in sparring and ‘dropped him multiple times’ as he demands title shot

DILLIAN WHYTE claimed he “bashed” Tyson Fury around in sparring and “dropped him on multiple occasions” as he demanded a crack at the WBC belt he earned way back in 2017.
The Brixton ace became the No1 contender for the green and gold version of the heavyweight strap when he beat Robert Helenius on October 28 2017.

    2

Dillian Whyte wants to get his heavy hands on the WBC title after “bashing” Tyson Fury in sparring
But Deontay Wilder was allowed to make a string of underwhelming performances before Fury brilliantly dethroned him in February.
Current WBC king Fury and Whyte even agreed on a clash in May 2019 for the WBC diamond belt but the Gypsy King reneged on that deal and went on to have tune-ups before walloping Wilder.
Whyte, who takes on Alexander Povetkin tomorrow night, told The Boxing Show on Sky Sports News: “He just needs to stop talking rubbish and let’s have a go. It will be a major fight. Let’s have it out.
“He’s the one that come out and said he beat me up in the gym and stuff like that. I can tell you now, that didn’t happen. I don’t like telling sparring stories, but people in the game know. They know about me.

“Well, me and Tyson Fury sparred and I bashed him about and dropped him on multiple occasions. Simple as that.
“If I was such an easy fight, why is he not in any rush to fight me? He said before beating Wilder, ‘When I beat Wilder, I’m going to give Dillian Whyte his title shot.’ He just talks rubbish.
    “This is war, let’s go.”

The Body Snatcher added: “It makes me angry and it frustrates me because Tyson Fury refused to fight me in a mandated fight for the WBC diamond belt.

“And they took my mandatory position away and gave it to Tyson Fury after he fought Otto Wallin who was ranked around 1,000,000 in the world.
“It’s a joke, how can he fight Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin and then be the WBC mandatory contender after I have been beating top-ten guys back-to-back?
“The fans and the boxing world need to put pressure on the WBC and Tyson Fury to fight me next, it’s a joke.
“I have been risking the No1 position since 2017, I have spent hundreds of thousands of pounds in sanctioning fees and won every WBC belt I have been eligible for and beaten two former world champions. It’s my turn.”
Whyte has also called Fury out on social media by demanding: “Lets fight. I’m ready.”
Whyte is on an 11-fight win streak since his thrilling 2015 loss to Anthony Joshua and he has the scalps of ex-champs Joseph Parker and Lucas Browne on his record.
But the WBC suspended his mandatory position between July and December last year while he was fighting to clear his name from a doping allegation.
The Mexico-based body reinstated Whyte in December and vowed to get him a shot by February 2021 and that could be helped by Wilder having bicep surgery.

I don’t care if Fury and Wilder are tired into another fight contractually, Wilder is injured so they should mandate Fury to fight me, like they did before.
    Dillian Whyte

But Fury and Joshua have agreed a two-fight deal, that for all intents and purposes seems like it will freeze Whyte out even longer.
From his Portugal training camp, he said: “I don’t care if Fury and Wilder are tired into another fight contractually, Wilder is injured so they should mandate Fury to fight me, like they did before.
“They took my mandatory position without due course or proper evidence. I have been respectful, I have been to Mexico and done everything possible and correct.”
The Ukad case following the win over Oscar Rivas was a tortuous time for Whyte and he ballooned up to a career high of 19st 5lbs by the time he faced Mariusz Wach in Saudi Arabia in December.
The dark period took its toll on Whyte but he kept his agony private and has urged mental health campaigner Fury to do the same in future.
He said: “I have a lot of respect for what Tyson has done but he talks a lot of rubbish.
“He likes to put all his personal stuff out in the public domain, I am not that person.
