Mike Tyson regrets being a real life ‘Tiger King’ and says owning THREE white tigers was a mistake

MIKE TYSON revealed his regret over owning three big tigers as pets admitting it was “foolish, they’d kill you”.
The white Bengal tigers – which reportedly cost £48,000 each – became an infamous part of Tyson’s character, with the American having three pet jungle cats.

But, now aged 54, the former ‘baddest man of the planet’ told American rapper Fat Joe that owning the pet cats was naive because of how dangerous they were.
As the two discussed the new Netflix documentary ‘Tiger King’, Tyson said on Instagram live: “I was foolish. There’s no way you can domesticate these cats 100 per cent.
“There’s no way that’s going to happen. They’ll kill you by accident, especially when you’re playing rough with them, you’re punching them back. They get hyped up, hit you back and you’re dead.
“I’m just happy I educated myself. I was doing the wrong s***. I shouldn’t have had them in my house, believing they were domesticated. I was wrong.”

In the same conversation, the boxing legend recalled how he once had to pay a trespasser £200,000 after one of his Bengal tigers “f***** up” her hand so badly.
Tyson said: “Somebody jumped over my fence where the tiger was and started playing with the tiger.
“The tiger didn’t know the lady so it was a bad accident. She jumped into the property where the tiger was.

I was foolish. There’s no way you can domesticate these cats 100 per cent… they’ll kill you by accident, especially when you’re playing rough with them, you’re punching them back. They get hyped up, hit you back and you’re dead.
Tyson on his regrets at owning pet tigers

“They tried to [sue] until they found out she jumped over the fence and she trespassed with the tiger.

“When I saw what the tiger did to her hand, I had a lot of money back then, so I gave her $250,000 (£200,000) whatever it was because she was just f***** up.”
Tyson decided to buy the outlandish pets after sparking up a conversation with a car dealer during his three-year prison sentence, for a 1992 sexual assault conviction.
He said on the Joe Rogan podcast: “So I’m in prison, I’m talking to my car dealer at the time.
“He has some cars that belong to a [mutual friend], and he’s discussing, ‘If he doesn’t pay for these cars, I’m going to sell these cars to somebody and get some horses.’
“I said, ‘What, you can get horses? And trade horses in for cars?’ Because I had a lot of cars, I’d probably get some horses too. And he said, ‘Yeah man, you can get cougars, lions, tigers.’

Dubois confident he can ‘take over soon’ after seeing heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Whyte suffer shock defeats

DANIEL DUBOIS has warned his wobbling heavyweight targets that his growing confidence will help him topple them and become king.
The 22-year-old was shoved into the limelight three years ago by promoter Frank Warren and was painfully shy about being the boy who had allegedly KO’d Anthony Joshua in Team GB sparring.

    3

Daniel Dubois has enjoyed seeing ‘older targets and potential opponents lose’

    3

Fellow British heavyweight Dillian Whyte saw his world title hopes rocked by a shock defeat against Alexander Povetkin
Three years on he is the 14-0 British champion, with a couple of impressive scalps and he has watched from the wings as AJ and fellow Brit rival Dillian Whyte have suffered shock KO losses.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Ricardo Snijders, Dynamite Dubois told SunSport: “It may not have come across but I am ferociously confident in my ability because of the work done in the gym.
“I was a boy among men when I sparred on the GB team, I am a baby in terms of experience now in the pro game but don’t mistake my quietness for self doubt.
“I’m not even that quiet or shy, you can’t afford to be when you are one of ten siblings and want to get fed. But when it comes to boxing my approach has been strictly business.

I need to start driving soon because we’re out in the sticks now and I won’t fancy running to and from the gym through the rain and snow in the winter.
    Daniel Dubois

“Beating Nathan Gorman for the British title – in a fight a lot of people thought was going to be 50-50 – just confirmed what I already knew about my potential.
“And seeing older targets and potential opponents lose – in very good and hard fights – only makes me more confident I can take over soon.”
Dubois is a product of the iconic Peacock Gym in Canning Town and his success has helped play a part in the Bowers family opening a second pro-only base in Epping.
The state-of-the-art facility is also now only 20 minutes from the new Dubois family home.

And DDD hopes getting into the heavyweight driving seat will make his commutes much easier.

    3

Joe Joyce is in the sights of rival unbeaten British boxer Daniel Dubois
He laughed: “My dad used to drive me to and from the old gym but this is close enough that he and my coach Martin could end up telling me to run over.
“I need to start driving soon because we’re out in the sticks now and I won’t fancy running to and from the gym through the rain and snow in the winter.
“There aren’t too many pavements or street lights out here so it’s great inspiration to pass my test soon.”
The BT Studio bout should be little more than a lockdown keep-warm win ahead of the planned October 24 showdown against Joe Joyce.
But Dubois wants to make a statement nonetheless.

How Eddie Hall is transforming from strongman to boxer for Thor fight with insane workouts, cryo chamber and huge meals

EDDIE HALL has revealed how he is transition from strongman to boxer – with the help of intense training days, cryo chamber and huge meals.
The 6ft 3in 32-year-old has signed to fight weight lifting rival Hafthor Bjornsson, 31, next year in Las Vegas.

Hall faces strongman rival Hafthor Bjornsson next year
It has so far been postponed until fans paying fans can return, leaving the boxing novices longer to prepare for the pay-per-view spectacle.
Hall – who retired from deadlifting in 2017 – gave fans an insight into his manic training schedule on YouTube.
He begins each day with a jog before stretching off and doing two hours of strength and conditioning.
That includes deadlifts, training his arms for endurance and abdominal work – to strengthen his core ahead of the fight.

After that Hall hits the cryo chamber – designed to relieve muscle pain – for three minutes, at minus 130 centigrade.

    12

He says: “This for me is an amazing bit of recovery in between strength and conditioning and my boxing training.
“What it does is really shock the system and puts me in a state of basically repair.
“It releases all the endorphins and freezes all the muscles.”

Hall then heads home to eat and nap before his boxing session.
His lunch consists of two large pieces of chicken and 300g of rice topped off with 200g of vegetables.

    12

Hall snacks on cereal after his nap
After an hour and a half snooze, Hall wakes up to chocolate and granola breakfast – boosting his energy.
Before even beginning his boxing session, he again stretches for 45 minuets focussing on his legs.
Hall finishes 10x3minute rounds, on the pads, bags and mitt sticks.
His boxing trainer said: “He’s got a lot of natural talent which is always a head start.
“We’ve got him rotating into his shots, we’ve got him using his feet. He’s very explosive.
“As you would expect he’s very powerful. He tends to overwork everything he does, so we’re slowing him down throughout the rounds.”

With Game of Thrones Star Bjornsson – nicknamed ‘Thor’ – also documenting his training, Hall’s coaches are analysing the footage.
But they will not allow Eddie to look at his opponent, to avoid distractions.
After a 40-minute session, Hall calls it a day, believing his body instead needs to rest.
He then goes into another recovery process, which starts with a one hour physio session.

    12

Physio therapy is a major part of his recovery
His masseur Richard says: “The aim for every session we do is just to remove out the lactic acid build up.
“Obviously he’s lost a lot of relaxed mass, so it’s made my life a lot easier.”
Hall then jumps in his hot tub, with the 40 degree heat helping to further relax his aching muscles.
He says: “This is perfect at the end of the day once I’ve had a hard day.
“Jump in here, get everything nice and warm, let’s get all the blood circulating and it’s also my time to unwind.”

Conor Benn would not be shocked if Spence and Crawford knocked off perch by ‘animal’ Vergil Ortiz after 16 straight KOs

CONOR BENN has tipped “animal” Vergil Ortiz to surpass Errol Spence and Terence Crawford as welterweight king.

But 22-year-old Ortiz – who has won all 16 of his fights by knockout – has been backed to dethrone the pair by 2022.
Benn told talkSPORT: “The welterweight who I think is gonna be at the top when I’m at the top is a fighter called Vergil Ortiz.
“He’s an animal. I reckon he’ll be running things by the time I get to world level.
“It wouldn’t surprise me at all [if he surpassed Spence or Crawford] in the next two years.”

Mexican-American Ortiz is yet to challenge for a world title, but has made a name with wins over the likes of Samuel Vargas, Mauricio Herrera and Antonio Orozco.
Unbeaten Benn, 23, hopes to achieve the same with a step up in opposition, as he plots a return to the ring by the end of the year.
He said: “Hopefully mid-to-end of October. Though I wouldn’t shy away from a fight in September.
“As you can see from my social media pages I’ve been grafting during lockdown.

Anthony Joshua backed to beat Tyson Fury and ‘catch him quickly’ but will struggle past four rounds, claims Tony Bellew

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been backed to beat Tyson Fury – but only if he catches the Gypsy King cold.
Unified champion AJ, 30, and WBC king Fury, 32, verbally agreed to a two-fight deal earlier this year to secure a historic undisputed title decider in 2021.

    3

Anthony Joshua has been tipped to beat Tyson Fury by Tony Bellew

    3

Fury and Joshua have agreed a two-fight deal for next year – assuming Fury beats Wilder in their trilogy fight
And former world champion Tony Bellew has backed pal Joshua to win the Battle of Britain by early stoppage, but warns it is Fury’s game if the fight reaches the second half.
Bellew told The Gary Newbon Sports Show: “I think he would jump on Tyson Fury and I think he would catch him pretty quickly.
“But don’t get me wrong, if that fight was to go past four or five rounds, I think Anthony Joshua would find himself in an awful lot of trouble.
“He has to get rid of someone like Tyson Fury and solve that puzzle and enigma that is Tyson Fury quickly because the more fights go on against him the harder it becomes.”

Despite the double header agreement, it is subject to both champions winning their next fights.
Joshua faces mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, 39, while Fury rematches 34-year-old Deontay Wilder, the man he dethroned in February.
But further complications lie for the pair, as their respected mandatories threaten to scupper the mega-money unification.
Oleksandr Usyk is next in line for AJ’s WBO belt while Dillian Whyte was due for his shot at the WBC belt by next February – before his shock loss to Alexander Povetkin.

Prior to Whyte’s defeat, promoter Eddie Hearn claimed Whyte should take priority over Joshua in the pursuit for Fury’s title.

Top 10 heavyweights in the world ranked with Tyson Fury ahead of Anthony Joshua as pair prepare for 2021 showdown

TYSON FURY and Anthony Joshua are set to finally get it on in a blockbuster heavyweight bout.
But Ring magazine – boxing’s bible – has already declared the winner between the two.

Joshua and Fury have both conquered the boxing world but one has been ranked higher than the other
That is because they say the Gypsy King – who happens to be Ring Magazine heavyweight champion – is the No1 heavyweight in the world.
Their latest rankings put Joshua – who has agreed a two-fight series against Fury set to be held in Las Vegas or the Middle East – as the second best.
Here, we run through the top 10 according to Ring.
    1. Tyson Fury
The WBC champ comes in top trumps following his devastating win over Deontay Wilder in February.

Undefeated Fury has battled back from the depths of depression and addiction to reach the summit once more and can cement his position as one of the best ever if he beats Joshua.

Fury knows he is No 1 and can prove it by beating JoshuaCredit: Getty Images – Getty
    2. Anthony Joshua
AJ holds more heavyweight belts than Fury but his career is still recovering from that unforgettable shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in June last year.
Joshua won them all back in December but admitted to having to overcome mental demons to do so.

    3. Dillian Whyte
He’s rated the third best in the world but that could be in jeopardy after his shock defeat to Alexander Povetkin last weekend.
Whyte would have earned himself a shot against the winner of Fury and Wilder had he won – but instead his career has been left in tatters.
    4. Deontay Wilder
The Bronze Bomber was left deflated after his February defeat to Fury – having been arguably edged out in their controversial draw in December 2019, too.
Wilder, who lost his WBC crown after being convincingly beaten by Fury in their second fight, has refused to accept the step-aside money he has been offered to give Fury a clear run at Joshua.
    5. Luis Ortiz
The big-hitting Cuban recently called out Mike Tyson for a fight, with the Baddest Man on the Planet set to take on Roy Jones Jr in his comeback fight instead.
Ortiz has challenged for the WBC belt twice, losing both times by KO to then-champ Wilder.
    6. Andy Ruiz Jr
The Mexican-American stunned the world after beating Joshua in seven rounds at Madison Square Garden.
Ruiz could not find anything like that form in December’s rematch and has been mostly enjoying the fruits of his labour since with no immediate fights in the pipeline.

Tyson Fury won ‘small’ £50 bet with Joseph Parker after Povetkin KO’d Whyte

    7. Alexander Povetkin
The Russian and ex-WBA champ recently flattened Whyte with a stunning uppercut at Eddie Hearn’s Fight Camp.
That win will likely see Povetkin climb the Ring rankings… and Whyte slip.
    8. Joseph Parker
The Kiwi has become known more for his social media shenanigans than his boxing lately.
Parker’s most recent win – his third straight – was against Shawndell Terell Winters in February but it came after earlier defeats to Joshua and Whyte.
    9. Michael Hunter
Described as the “boogeyman of the heavyweight division” by Hearn, it’s not yet clear who former Olympian Hunter will fight next.
Charles Martin is rumoured to be one possible opponent for the heavyweight with a record of 18 wins, one loss and one draw from 20 fights.
    10. Oscar Rivas
The Colombian, 33, did fight for the vacant WBC interim heavyweight title in 2019.
Kaboom lost his most recent fight – against Whyte – in July last year and has 18 KOs from 26 wins with just one defeat, edging out Kubrat Pulev to the No10 spot.

Tommy explained: “At the end of the day you just have to train.

“It’s something I’ve always done and if I wasn’t in boxing I was lifting weights, sprinting, doing athletics, whatever it was I was always doing something.
