How Mike Tyson is in such incredible shape at 54 thanks to new diet, cardio and ‘weird’ stem cell treatment

MIKE TYSON has been doing the rounds to physically prepare for his sensational boxing comeback aged 54.
Tyson, who retired in 2005, has a whole new diet and cardio regime as well as going through a “weird” stem cell treatment.

    3

Mike Tyson has been training for the last month ahead of his comeback
The former heavyweight king announced plans to make a return to the ring to compete in exhibition bouts for charity, and has been training hard ahead of his comeback.
He is set to face fellow legend Roy Jones Jr on November 28.
Speaking to rapper LL Cool J on the Rock the Bells Radio show on SiriusXM, Tyson explained the methods he is using to get back into fighting shape, as he revealed: “Really I would just change my diet and just do cardio work.
“Cardio has to start, you have to have your endurance to go and do the process of training.

“So something to do is get in cardio, I would try and get two hours of cardio a day, make sure you get that stuff in. You’re gonna make sure you’re eating the right food.
“For me it’s almost like slave food. Doing what you hate to do but doing it like it’s nothing. Getting up when you don’t want to get up.
“That’s what it is. It’s becoming a slave to life.
“Being a slave to life means being the best person you can be, being the best you can possibly be, and when you are at the best you can possibly be is when you no longer exist and nobody talks about you. That’s when you’re at your best.”

WHAT IS STEM CELL TREATMENT USED FOR?

Stem cell transplants are carried out when bone marrow is damaged or isn’t able to produce healthy blood cells.
It can also be used to replace damaged blood cells as the result of intensive cancer treatment.
Here are conditions that stem cell transplants can be used to treat:
severe aplastic anaemia (bone marrow failure)
leukaemia – a type of cancer affecting white blood cells
lymphoma – another type of cancer affecting white blood cells
myeloma – cancer affecting cells called plasma cells
certain blood, immune system and metabolic disorders – examples include sickle cell anaemia, thalassaemia, severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) and Hurler syndrome

Fury vows to KO ‘big s***house’ McIntyre and add WWE title to boxing crown

Tyson’s return to training for the first time in 15 years has been aided by stem-cell research therapy, that has left him feeling like a “different person”.
Stem-cell therapy is the use of stem cells to treat or prevent a disease or condition that usually takes the form of a bone marrow transplantation.
Tyson was asked whether that meant if his white blood had been spun and then put back in, to which he replied: “Yes. As they took the blood it was red and when it came back it was almost transfluid (sic).
“I could almost see through the blood, and then they injected it in me.
“And I’ve been weird ever since, I’ve got to get balanced now.”
Having previously claimed he feels in the best shape of his life, Tyson revealed he will be ready and raring to fight again.
He said: “My mind would belong to somebody that disliked me enough to break my soul, and I would give them my mind for that period of time.
“Six weeks of this and I’d be in the best shape I’ve ever dreamed of being in. As a matter of fact, I’m going through that process right now. And you know what else I did, I did stem-cell research.”

Tyson has dramatically transformed his body as he returned to training
During his reign as champion, Tyson would wake up at 4.30am to run before later heading to the gym where he would do 10-12 rounds of boxing mixed in with an array of muscles exercises.
His diet consisted of 3000-4000 calories of carbohydrates and proteins which helped fuel his training sessions.
Tyson, still the youngest heavyweight champion of all time at 20, retired with a record of 50-6-2 and remains one of the most celebrated punchers of all time.

Kell Brook ‘edging closer’ to sealing welterweight world title fight against superstar Terence Crawford in Las Vegas

KELL BROOK is “edging closer” to finalising a deal to challenge welterweight champion Terence Crawford in November.
Brook has not fought in the 147lb division since losing the IBF title to Errol Spence Jr, 30, in 2017.

    3

Crawford could defend his WBO title against Brook in Las Vegas
And despite three wins at light-middleweight, the 34-year-old is plotting a move back to welterweight to challenge WBO title holder Crawford.
Talks are ongoing between Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum of Top Rank for a fight Brook hopes will take place in Las Vegas.
He told Sky Sports: “Talks are progressing and we feel like we are edging closer.
“My team have been in regular dialogue with Bob Arum.

“He assures us that both him and Crawford are bang up for it, so hopefully we can get it over the line and give the fight fans something to get excited about and to close 2020 in style.
“Crawford is the champ so rightfully they want the fight stateside, Vegas has been discussed.
“It suits me though. I have always wanted to fight in Las Vegas – the bright lights of ‘Sin City’.

Brook was close to finally agreeing to fight rival Amir Khan last year.
But Khan, 33, instead opted to face Crawford, 32, losing by fifth round stoppage in April 2019.
Brook is adamant he has the power to upset the 36-0 unbeaten American, and feels they are both at a similar stage in their careers.

    3

He explained: “I’m feeling sharp, I’m feeling good. I’ve never felt so good this far out from a fight.
“People talk about the age factor, but overlook that Terence will be 33 himself by the time we fight. There isn’t much between us.
“I look at the time that’s passed as becoming a more mature fighter now and the knowledge and experience I have, for me, make me bang ready for an even more sensational performance.

Alex Dilmaghani jabs rival boxers using lockdown bouts to pad their records like bras

ALEX DILMAGHANI insists on making the breast of boxing’s lockdown while his rivals pad their records like loose bras.
The Surrey 29-year-old fights for the European super-featherweight crown on Saturday night, live on Channel 5.

    2

The crucial clash comes ten months after an agonising draw in his effort to land the IBO world title and he binned all offers of a warm-up fight in between.
The law graduate told SunSport: “Why would I want a warm-up fight at a time when it is so hard for anyone to get fights at all?
“I’m very grateful that I have the chance to box during this terrible time and I am not going to waste it on a warm-up or keep-busy win.
“I’ve seen a lot of the lockdown shows have had some terrible matches. There have been some good 50-50 headliners but a lot of supposedly good fighters have beaten journeymen, it’s embarrassing.

    2

“Padding to build confidence or improve your appearance should be left to bras. I’ve got no time for it in boxing.”
Dilmaghani, ranked the UK’s 14th best 9st 4lbs fighter, faces dangerous Frenchman Samir Ziani behind closed doors with both men eyeing up world title challenges immediately after.
But the Southampton University alumni – who has boxed out of Mexico and Canada in a self-made 19-1-1 career on the road – fancies a thrilling all-UK clash too.
“If this virus keeps limiting international travel and fights then I have an ideal domestic route mapped out and the Carl Frampton fight is top of that,” he said.

“It’s unlikely he would take the fight because it would be seen as high risk and low reward for him.

When asked: ‘Which celebrity that you’ve met has the worst fashion sense?’ the Capital team suggest Fury, pointing to his alligator sofas.

He continues: “He needs to come to BOSS, ASAP.

“He needs to come to BOSS, get some tailoring done, you know what I mean, get some custom made pieces, I promise you.
“They said David Haye used to wear the worst suits and now, he’s passed the baton over to Tyson Fury.
“So right now we’re saying Tyson Fury.”

Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce clash pushed back a month to November in bid to fill O2 Arena with fans

DANIEL DUBOIS’ heavyweight clash with Joe Joyce is set to be delayed until mid-November.
Promoter Frank Warren had initially eyed October 24 for the Battle of Britain spectacular.

    1

But talks with Government officials have indicated a date in November would be more suitable for allowing fans into the O2 Arena.
November 14 and 21 are the new dates being considered as trials to allow fans back into sporting events continue.
Test events to reintroduce spectators have included cricket, football and rugby matches with boxing so far reduced to behind closed doors.
Matchroom even resorted to staging Dillian Whyte’s fight with Alexander Povetkin in the garden of Eddie Hearn’s HQ.

Warren this week pointed towards an October date for Dubois versus Joyce but SunSport understands the situation is changing quickly.
The Queensberry promoter, 68, said: “Lockdown has meant a delay, but we all want the fight to take place in October and we are hopeful that the government will give us the all-clear.

“What a position the winner will be in. They will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021.”
Given the delay, prodigal talent Dubois, 22, and former Olympic medallist Joyce, 34, have each taken part in warm-up fights.

Dutchman Ricardo Snijders was dispatched with ease by the younger of the pair last month.
In July, Joyce secured an early knockout of his own in the defeat of Michael Wallisch.

Did Anthony Joshua really beat up Tyson Fury over three rounds? Boxing rivals recall sparring session together

LAST year, rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury had agreed to spar each other – and it would not have been the first time, either.
Joshua, 30, told the Gypsy King, 32, he would help him prepare to face Deontay Wilder by becoming one of his sparring partners.

AJ’s proposition was accepted by Fury who would “love” to have AJ in his training camp – but it never happened.
Now the two are in line to fight for real in an all-British unification fight.
It comes after the heavyweight champions verbally agreed to a two-fight deal for next year.
Joshua and Fury have shared the ring before, in 2010, when the Gypsy King was 22 and preparing to face Derek Chisora for the first time – with Joshua a 20-year-old amateur.

Soon after their spar, in a candid interview with journalist Steve Bunce, Fury admitted Joshua “gave me a beating” for three rounds – and predicted the unified champion’s future stardom.
He said: “He’s very good. To be honest with you, I thought to myself ‘I’m only going to take it easy as he’s an amateur and we probably won’t spar again if I go mad.
“He’s rushed out at me he threw a one-two and left-hook and I slipped, slipped and I thought he’s not very good I’m going to take my time.
“Then bash, he hits me with a big uppercut right on the point of the chin – if I had a bit of a weak chin like David Price I would’ve been knocked out for a month.

“He came out at me for three rounds and he gave me a beating – I’m not going to deny it, he gave me hell for leather.
“For three rounds I thought ‘Oh my god, an amateur is killing me’.
“Being a professional, and I’ve been an amateur myself and fought all over the world, I slowed him down a bit with a few good body shots.
“The kid’s only 20, and I’m a handful myself, so for him to put up a good performance like that against a top prospect in me, I think he’s one for the future.”
AJ explained: “I was just in the gym to avoid getting punched if I was found guilty for one of my court cases.

“Tyson Fury came down, my coach told me this was the guy from the paper and if he is knocked out, you get a Rolex watch.
“I wasn’t even in to Rolex watches back then, I was rocking Casios!
“I was young and we just went to war really. He’s a gypsy warrior, hungry and that’s it – just a good, all out heavyweight sparring session.”
It seems Fury himself had a change of heart about what happened ten years ago.

Speaking to Showtime before he drew against Wilder, the Manchester slickster maintained Joshua had success in the early rounds, but was left squealing from body shots later on.
Fury said: “We’ve had a spar before – amateur boxer he was at the time – he had a good couple of rounds then I started hitting him round the body.

He came out at me for three rounds and he gave me a beating – I’m not going to deny it, he gave me hell for leather.

“I’m there with my hands down, he’s coming forward with big swings, how’s he going to hit me? I said go on then, put one on me, I’ll stand still.”
Fury even claims he offered to have a street fight with AJ – but the Watford ace “s*** himself”.
He revealed: “He seems pretty spirited, doesn’t he?
“But when I stood face-to-face to him and said, ‘Do you want to get outside?’ His a*** started flapping.
    “He s*** himself.

“It doesn’t matter what weight I was at the time, I wasn’t in shape, but I’d have took him outside and kicked his c*** right in for him.
“If a man said that to me – I don’t care if I was unfit or not – he’d be outside and punches. We’d have had to have a fight. Simple.
“But I said that to him and he didn’t want to know.”

Deontay Wilder urged to RETIRE aged 34 if he refuses Tyson Fury rematch in December amid Anthony Joshua fight talk

DEONTAY WILDER has been urged to retire if he refuses to rematch Tyson Fury in December.
The 34-year-old American suffered the first defeat of his career in February and also surrendered the WBC belt to the hands of Fury, 31.

    2

Deontay Wilder was beaten by Tyson Fury to lose the WBC belt
They are already contracted to a third bout, targeted for the end of the year, but Wilder has remained radio silent in the months following his loss.
It has led to fears from Eddie Hearn that the Bronze Bomber could be about to walk away from his immediate rematch.
And the promoter believes it would be a career-ending decision for Wilder if he was to snub his crack at redemption.
Hearn told iFL TV: “If Deontay Wilder doesn’t take that rematch, he should retire from boxing.

“What’s the point? You’ve been a world heavyweight champion, and now you’ve lost and your bum’s gone.
“You’ve bottled the rematch, and he won’t. He’s got more about him than that. But he’s worryingly quiet, isn’t he?”
The trilogy fight is set to fall on the same month unified champion Anthony Joshua, 30, makes a mandatory defence against Kubrat Pulev, 39.
Fury had suggested instead fighting AJ in an undisputed title decider and dropping their other commitments.

“We probably will [fight Pulev]. Fury doesn’t want to get out of his contract for the trilogy match with Wilder.
“Why would he? Next to a fight with Joshua, it’s the best money Fury can make, and it’s a match that will help increase his popularity in the US.
“We’re probably a lot freer to take the fight in December than [Fury] is.
“Whether that is to goad us or to challenge us, we accept that challenge to fight in December if you don’t have to fight Deontay Wilder.
