Chris Eubank Jr calls out superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin declaring ‘these are the guys I want’

CHRIS EUBANK JR called out superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin declaring: “These are the guys I want”.
The 30-year-old has not fought since winning the WBA interim middleweight title in February – when Matt Korobov pulled out injured after two rounds.

Chris Eubank Jr called out superstars Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin

He is also in line to challenge the winner of Jermall Charlo, 30, and Sergiy Derevyanchenko, 34, who fight for the WBC belt next weekend.
But Eubank Jr has bigger plans and insisted he wants to face Canelo, 30 or IBF middleweight champ GGG, 38.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m No 1 contender for the WBA world titles. So Canelo has the super version and Ryota Murata has the regular version.
“I’m interim WBA world champion, so those are the fights that make sense. I want those belts.

“Charlo, Golovkin, all these guys with belts in my division, whoever I can get fast.
“Put me in the ring with Canelo, put me in the ring with GGG. These are the guys I want.”
Canelo still holds belts at middleweight and super-middleweight – where Eubank Jr campaigns – but the Mexican last boxed at light-heavyweight.
Alvarez vacated the WBO title he won in November against Sergey Kovalev, 37, in order to step back down to super-middleweight.

But Eubank Jr is adamant the British pair “are scared” of four-division champ Alvarez and will swerve the chance to fight him.
He said: “Listen those guys are not pursuing Canelo anyway. Those guys don’t want to fight Canelo.
“Saunders, Smith they are scared of him. They will do anything to bounce around the opportunity to fight with him.
“I’m the only one that’s really calling his name. I don’t hear anybody else saying they want to fight him.”

Canelo Alvarez could still fight Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith this November but only with fans, admits Hearn

CANELO ALVAREZ could fight Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith in November, according to Eddie Hearn.
And Matchroom promoter Hearn is keen for fans to be allowed back before any big fight is set up.

Canelo Alvarez could still fight Billy Joe Saunders or Callum Smith this November

    3

Saunders was set to fight Alvarez in September but it was cancelled because of coronavirus

Mexican legend Alvarez, 30, is suing Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy and streaming service Dazn.
But Hearn is hopeful the issue can be resolved so Alvarez is ready to fight.
He told Sky Sports: “We want to see him back in the ring particularly because the two fights there for him are Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders, two of our guys.
“I want them to have the opportunity to fight Canelo.

“Hopefully it (legal dispute) gets resolved and we see Canelo back in the ring – he’s one of the biggest stars in world boxing and is a terrific fighter.
“If he does, I’ve got my fingers crossed they pick Callum or Billy.
“I think the plan is still for Canelo to box in November, or at least this year.”
Saunders was set to fight Alvarez in September but the clash was cancelled as a result of coronavirus.

And if Alvarez is not ready to fight in November, Hearn is considering a Battle of Britain bout between Smith and Saunders.
But the Brentwood based promoter wants fans to be allowed back in by that stage.
He added: “If Canelo doesn’t pick them, they should fight each other. But if there’s no fans, how do you do Smith vs Saunders?
“Right now it’s about keeping the fighters active but also recognising some fighters are better for 2021.”
The legal battle Alvarez is embroiled in stems from an 11-fight £280million contract he signed in 2018.
At the time, it was labelled the richest deal in sport – but the Mexican is alleging a breach just three fights in as a trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin has not materialised.

The Athletic obtained a copy of the civil complaint filed in LA at the US district court for the central district of California.
The dispute centres around the payment of the £27m he is guaranteed per fight.
And in a statement given to The Athletic, Alvarez said: “I’m the pound-for-pound No1 in the world.
“I’m not scared of any opponent in the ring, and I’m not going to let failures of my broadcaster or promoters keep me out of the ring.
“I filed the lawsuit so I can get back to boxing and give my fans the show they deserve.”
Alvarez suggested he was willing to discuss ‘offers in good faith’ amid Covid-19, but no progress appears to have been made.
Dazn bosses are thought to have offered Alvarez around half of the £27m based on their view he failed to fight a premier opponent as stipulated in his contract.

Watch Tyson Fury show off slick skills as he reveals combination he plans to KO Deontay Wilder with in trilogy fight

TYSON FURY showed Deontay Wilder what he has in store for their heavyweight title trilogy fight.
The pair are set to duel for a third time in December, with the bout reportedly heading to Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

In training for the fight, Fury revealed to fans that he is hard at work on “the slip”.
The combination featured in an Instagram clip posted by the Gypsy King, 32.
He captioned the video: “The slip, practice make perfect. We only humans.”
SugarHill Steward can be heard instructing Fury in the background after arriving in the UK earlier this month.

A former Detroit police officer, Steward was drafted in to help the heavyweight’s punching technique just two months before his dramatic rematch victory over Wilder.
Another clip of Fury hammering the bag with punches tagged the trainer, and was captioned: “We are working hard.”

    4

In the backdrop of the videos was Fury’s new mural of his February triumph over Wilder, installed earlier this month.

It was completed by Liverpool-based artist John Culshaw, with Fury thrilled with the result and sharing a short video on his Instagram story.
Fury commentated the clip, proudly boasting: “So I’ve got my mural done, in my gym, the Tyson Fury Foundation.
    “Boom! Have that Wilder! Haha.”
But the Brit has been warned to expect a seriously improved Wilder when they meet again.
Nigerian heavyweight Raphael Akpejiori, who is being mentored by the Bronze Bomber, told Sky Sports: “Based on what I know, the only person that can beat Deontay right now, is Deontay.

Charlie Edwards wants to share world title wins with brother Sunny but not barbers after shock style switch

CHARLIE EDWARDS wants to share a world title coronation with his baby brother but NOT a barber.
The former WBC flyweight world champ will enjoy a behind-closed-doors tune-up on September 26, one month after super-talented little sibling Sunny dazzled to a points win with silky skills and shock pigtails.

    5

Sunny Edwards is a super-talented young fighter with his own style
The dream now is for 27-year-old Charlie to move up to super-fly and claim another crown on the same night Sunny, 24, bags his first world title, in a British boxing first.
But shared in-ring success is where Charlie wants the similarities to end after his bro went rogue with his school-girl haircut.
Charlie told SunSport: “I was in the arena when Sunny boxed last month so I know what to expect fighting without any fans.

“He put on a great show and we both now have serious ambitions of landing world titles next year and the dream is for it to be on the same night.
“It has always been our crazy dream, growing up as kids, and now I have moved over and joined him in the Frank Warren stable it has made it a much closer possibility.
“One thing I won’t take credit for is that barnet, though. I thought mine was dodgy when I just bleached it blonde but he trumped that ten-fold.”
Charlie, 5ft 6in, was gambling with his health boiling down to make 8st for his world title run so his next assault will be in the super-fly division.

The move has come at the perfect time as he recently proposed to his pregnant prank-loving girlfriend who is also a top-class nutritionist helping him pile on the right pounds.

“I even proposed to her in the kitchen while she was making something for us to eat after we had trained.
“I had planned a very different proposal but it just felt so right and once I managed to stop crying I managed to ask her and she said yes.”
Baby Edwards will arrive in January and the young Sheffield-based family will find out the gender of their addition soon after the York Hall bout.

The 15-1 ace – who relinquished his crown after a no-contest with Julio Cesar Martinez last August to move up – hopes to have a little girl so his first born does not have the pressure of following in his dad’s footsteps.
He said: “As long as the baby is healthy I really don’t mind what we have but I have probably thought more of having a girl because I know the sort of pressure that would be on my son to be a boxer.
“But the women’s game is so impressive right now, with some absolute superstars in headline-grabbing fights, so maybe I could have a world champion daughter in a few years time.

Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul tale of the tape: How two stars compare ahead of sensational fight ‘this year’

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is said to have signed a contract to take on YouTuber Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match this year.
Multiple reports in America claim they have it on good authority Mayweather will take on Paul as early as this year.

    2

How Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul compare ahead of their fight

But how do the pair stack up? SunSport takes a look…
    BOXING CAREERS
MAYWEATHER enjoyed an illustrious career in the boxing ring.
The American, 43, boasts an unblemished, unparalleled 50-0 career record – including 27 KOs.
Money has fought the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez to name just a few.

On the other hand, 25-year-old Paul has fought just once professionally – against fellow YouTuber KSI.
The American lost to his British opponent.
    PHYSICAL BATTLE

    2

Paul may be bigger than Mayweather but surely he has no chance against Money
WITH over 20 years of experience Mayweather is obviously overwhelming favourite for the fight.
However, Paul does have one advantage – his physical stature.

For his fight against KSI the 6ft 2in star weighed in at a lean, mean 13st 8lb.
Mayweather, meanwhile, tips the scales at around 10st 7lb and is six inches shorter than “The Maverick” at just 5ft 8in.
    FANDEMONIUM
AS one of the most famous boxers on the planet, Mayweather is easily one of the most well-known, well-followed celebrities around.
In fact, the Las Vegas star boasts a staggering 23.7million followers on Instagram.
However, Paul is barely outmuscled by Mayweather on the social front, racking up 18.2m followers on Instagram alone – as well as his whopping YouTube fandom.

    PREDICTION
LET’S be honest, there will be only one winner.
A 50-0 former world champion vs a YouTube sensation with just one pro fight under his belt – a loss, at that.
Mayweather will surely win via KO – with the only question how long it will take him.
The smart money would be on a first-round knockout from Money.

Roy Jones Jr admits ‘I made a mistake’ taking Mike Tyson fight aged 51 with boxing legend fearful of ‘explosive’ power

ROY JONES JR says he made a mistake agreeing to fight Mike Tyson.

Jones expects first round fireworks from the explosive TysonCredit: Refer to Caption

With a combined age of 105, many have criticised the exhibition contest.
And even Jones, 51, is having second thoughts.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring.
“If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy.

“When it comes time to fight, we’re going to fight. If it comes down to bite, we’re going to bite.
“Whatever has to happen, is going to happen, that’s just what it is.”
Officially speaking, California State Commission rules state that both fighters will not look for the knockout in November, instead “exhibiting” their skills.
But there are fears the comeback fight could become a more feisty affair.

Danny Williams, who conquered an out-of-sorts Tyson, 54, back in 2004, fears the Brooklyn-born brawler will be keen to get physical and is worried about Jones.

He said: “I think Roy is going to get seriously hurt. He is a natural middleweight.”
Jones has showed he still has the skills required to succeed with his blistering pace on the pads in a video he posted to Instagram.

How Mike Tyson thinks he would far again today’s heavyweight stars Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder

WITH 44 KOs across 50 wins in his career, it’s fair to say Mike Tyson will forever be known as one of boxing’s greatest heavyweights ever.
Fans forever argue as to who would win in their prime: Iron Mike or Muhammad Ali.

Mike Tyson has revealed how he thinks he would fare against AJ, Wilder and Fury

But Tyson, 54 – who is making a comeback to face Roy Jones Jr in an exhibtion bout – has also had his say on how he’d fare against some of the current best in the heavyweight division.
From British stars Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, to the Bronze Bomber, Deontay Wilder, “The Baddest Man on the Planet” has revealed how each fight would go.
Check out what he makes of the hypothetical super-fights…
    MIKE TYSON vs TYSON FURY

Tyson reckons he’d have Fury’s number in the ring in his prime
BACK to his dangerous best, 6ft 9in Fury most recently beat Wilder in Las Vegas to clinch the WBC and The Ring magazine belts.

But Tyson has been a fan of Fury’s since before his win – having watched the controversial draw in his first fight with Wilder.
Tyson claimed: “In the first fight I was hoping for Tyson Fury, I always pulled for him because he was named after me, that is the natural thing to do, right?
“He amazed a lot of people by getting up. He showed he is tough, he got up and won the final round.
“I thought it was over, then he got up and it was like Rocky, he then fought back.

“It was amazing, it made me a fan. It takes great fortitude and belief.”
But, as with AJ, Tyson revealed he’d beat his namesake if he was in his prime – while admitting it would have been tough.
The American said: “Listen, if you’re asking me if I was 20 years old, then yes, there’s no doubt.
“They’re really good fighters and I respect all these skills. It would have been very tough fighting them.”

    MIKE TYSON vs ANTHONY JOSHUA

Mike Tyson reckons he’d beat Joshua in his prime, but admitted he’s a ‘beautiful’ boxer
THE current WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO champion, AJ bounced back from his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr last summer to regain his belts in December.
Joshua is a fighter with many strengths and very few weaknesses – and Iron Mike knows it.
Earlier this year, Tyson revealed: “Hey, I really like him. You know what he is? He’s really a breath of fresh air.
“He’s really clean, he really looks clean, he’s a clean guy, he’s a clean fighter, he’s a good puncher.
“You just wish the best for him.
“I don’t know. My ego says, ‘nobody would beat you’ – but you look at him and… he just looks beautiful.
“He just looks like a fighter, you know? He looks like he was born to do what he has to do. He needs more experience of course, but that will come in life.”
Despite remaining fairly tight-lipped on that occasion – while speaking on his Hotboxin’ podcast – Tyson had previously claimed he would easily beat Joshua.
When asked if he’d beat AJ or Fury, Tyson replied: “Yes. Listen, if you’re asking me if I was 20 years old, then yes, there’s no doubt.
“They’re really good fighters and I respect all these skills. It would have been very tough fighting them.”

    MIKE TYSON vs DEONTAY WILDER

Tyson has no doubts in his mind he’d beat Wilder in his prime
WILDER slumped to a seventh-round defeat in his last fight – at the hands of Fury – to lose his WBC and The Ring magazine belts.
But despite that, the Bronze Bomber recently claimed his hard-hitting style would see him beat Tyson.
Wilder claimed: “Me vs. Tyson in ’86, I’d kick the hell outta that guy.
“Listen, I’ve got to keep it real. I know people always go back to the old school or look at the new school and there’s no school where I’m not No1 on earth.”
Replying to those comments before his recent defeat by Fury, Tyson was typically diplomatic, saying: “I don’t know [whether I’d beat him].
“I love the fact that he thinks that, because that’s the way I would think as well.
“He’s supposed to think that way, he is the heavyweight champion of the world and that’s something very special.”

But Tyson’s former trainer, Jeff Fenech, was in no doubt as to who would win…
Fenech said: “Boxing’s not the same now. I’d guarantee that if Mike Tyson trained for six weeks, he’d knock Wilder out in a minute.
“He would hit them. If these guys are getting knocked out by Tyson Fury – who’s a great fighter, but not a huge puncher – Tyson would kill these guys.
“They’re not on the same level today. Mike today, I reckon if he trained he could still beat these guys.
“Fury’s got these other skills, but Deontay Wilder’s got a punch and nothing else. If you punch him, it’s over.
    “And Mike don’t miss.”

Floyd Mayweather ‘set to end retirement and fight YouTube star Logan Paul in sensational exhibition bout this year’

FLOYD MAYWEATHER will come out of retirement and fight YouTube star Logan Paul in an exhibition bout THIS year, according to sensational reports.

That victory took his career record to an unblemished, unparalleled 50-0.
But now sensational reports claim they have proof from a “reputable source” that Money has signed a contract to fight Paul.
The US star, 25, has only ONE professional fight under his belt – his famous loss to British fellow YouTuber KSI last year.
But now YouTuber Keemstar has taken to Twitter to reveal a “boxing insider” told him Paul would take on Mayweather.

Sharing the news with his 2.8million followers, Keemstar tweeted: “Mayweather vs Logan Paul this year! No joke…
“That’s [what a] boxing insider just told me..”
And Keemstar’s claim was backed up by The Fighting News’ Mike Feinberg – who claimed he’d seen the contract signed by Mayweather to fight Paul.

Feinberg claimed: “I’ve got some breaking news for you.

“Floyd Mayweather Jr is coming out of retirement and has just officially signed a contract to fight in an exhibition match against Logan Paul.
“I don’t understand the fight. Logan Paul has tried his hand at professional boxing against the other nobody [that] nobody’s ever heard of before.
“[Paul’s] now 0-1 and he’s going to be fighting one of the best in Floyd Mayweather.
“It’s going to be a joke of a fight, but it’s signed. It’s official.
“I heard it from a reputable source today and even saw the signed picture of the signed contract.
“Floyd signed on the dotted line for this exhibition match.”

Mayweather last took to the ring for an exhibition fight with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 – which resulted in the most simple of wins for the Las Vegas star.
Money has beaten the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Canelo Alvarez during his illustrious career – earning him a cool £2.4BILLION from PPVs alone.
