Mike Tyson claims his ‘ego is f***ing with him’ and opens up on internal struggle ahead of Roy Jones Jr fight

MIKE TYSON claimed his ‘ego is f***ing with him’ as he prepares to step back into the ring.
Iron Mike, 54, was initially due to fight Roy Jones Jr on September 12 but the pair’s exhibition bout will now take place on November 28 in California.

Tyson first confirmed his comeback against Jones Jr in July after 15 years in retirement and the veteran pair will do battle despite having a combined age of 105.
The pay-per-view bout will cost boxing fans a staggering £39 on Triller.
Tyson is taking part in a number of shows on the social media app and discussed the problems with his self-confidence.
In one episode, he said: “My ego’s f***ing with me and I’m saying, ‘N***a, you think you fly? You ain’t s***.

“An amateur can get in here and kick your ass, you better get on top of your game.
“You want to get embarrassed in front of these f***ing people?’
“Then the other ego says, ‘F*** you n***a, watch what I’m gonna do.'”
Tyson laughed and pointed to his head before joking: “You don’t know what goes on up here.”

His opponent Jones Jr previously sparked a war of words between the two by describing Tyson as a ‘pitbull puppy’.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, he said: “I know how to have fun in the ring, trying to do my best, but at the same time I know Mike.
“Mike is like a pitbull puppy.
“He gets lost in his mind and the only thing he knows is ‘I’m going for the fight’, that’s the only thing he knows, going for the fight.”
Jones Jr, a four-weight world champ, is certainly not taking Tyson lightly ahead of their eight-round exhibition.

He told ESPN: “Mike is still just as dangerous as ever.
“He’s still good, he has his speed, he still has his power, he’s still highly explosive, so he’s still a dangerous guy.
“It’s going to be dangerous for all eight rounds. You’ve got to be ready to protect yourself because that’s Mike Tyson.”
Both the fight and Tyson’s comeback itself have split opinion due to the age of those involved.
And British heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua warned Tyson he does not need to ‘compete with the young lions’ of the division.
He told Sky Sports: “They haven’t got to compete with the young lions of the division. We’re bigger, stronger, science has improved so we have more technology.”

Sky Sports pundit and former WBO cruiserweight champ Nelson reckons Joshua is the better all-round fighter and believes he would win a super fight between them.
Talking to Behind The Gloves, Fury had his say on Nelson’s view: “I respect Johnny Nelson’s opinion too.
    “Don’t think I haven’t seen that Johnny.
“Don’t come kissing my arse when you see me anymore, because you’ll get that (raises his fist).

“Yeah, listen. You’ve picked your guy and that’s it.”
Nelson had previous told talkSPORT: “I’ve gone public in saying I think Anthony Joshua is the all-round better fighter.
“I think Tyson Fury is better tactically and the more technically equipped, but AJ is the all-rounder.
“He can fight, he can box, he’s an athlete. Tyson Fury is a boxer.

“But, I’d go with Anthony Joshua because he’s shown me a lot more variety in his arsenal.”
The Gypsy King has called on his rival to ‘step up to the plate’ and be prepared to relinquish certain belts to avoid mandatory defences delaying their match-up.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed he is ready to distribute a formal contract for a battle of the Brits.
But Joshua, 30, must face IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev and Fury, 32, is contracted to a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder before they can get in the ring together.

If AJ beats Pulev, he could then be asked to defend his WBO belt against former cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk – a fight Fury thinks he may lose.
Which would mean yet another delay to the heavyweight fight all boxing fans want to see.
Fury told Behind The Gloves: “Rather than fight all these mandatories he’s got, I’d say just vacate those belts and fight the fight everyone wants to see.
“I ain’t running from you, I don’t care about you. I’ll go through you like a knife through butter. Come and fight the big boy, step up to the plate and get knocked out. Then fight all those easy guys.”

Meet Aiden ‘LikkleMan’ Henry: The 3ft future PPV star who went from prison to prizefighter training with Conor Benn

AT just 3ft tall Aiden ‘LikkleMan’ Henry is the most unlikely pay-per-view boxing star imaginable but his story is every inch as impressive as the fight game’s giant heroes.
Born with dwarfism in Coventry 26 years ago, Henry suffered such heartbreaking rejection from the people who should have loved and protected him most.

    8

Aiden ‘LikkleMan’ Henry boxes this Saturday night on PPVCredit: Instagram / @likklemangram

It was only in local gangs that he was able to find any protection from the bullies who wanted to take liberties with him.
A life of crime and prison sentence for burglary followed but while caged he posted a string of madcap videos that earned support from champion boxers and music stars.
Since his release in March 2019, Henry has turned his life around, apologised for his crimes and trained with stars like Conor Benn and Anthony Yarde for his fight with fellow dwarf Salim Chiboub on Saturday.
And his huge social media following – which includes almost 500,000 Instagram fans – means his £4.99 showdown could be the success of the summer while the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Canelo have been forced to sit out.

It will mark a Rocky-like comeback story.
Henry told SunSport: “I was born fighting, when you are born half the size of a normal man you have to fight twice as hard to get anywhere in life.
“I was born into a life of gangs, drugs and crime, like a lot of people are in certain areas. But on top of that I am this size.
    “I didn’t go to school, I can’t read or write, I didn’t have parents.

“I have matured a lot now but my brain is definitely wired differently to everyone else.
“I’ve had 25 bad years behind me, I have had to apologise for a lot of things I am sorry for, but now I have this chance to turn my life around and I am going to take it.”
Henry comes close to getting deep on his early struggles but pulls himself back, his hard-man outlook ingrained long before he ever picked up a pair of gloves.
The reformed bad-boy will not offer up sob stories but he is proud he has made his area proud and wants to use his platform to apologise to anyone he wronged.
He said: “Anyone who knows my story will hopefully respect me more now because they will know what I went through.
“I was a little f***er, I have to admit I was a little b******. And I am sorry to all the people I hurt in the past but I had to do certain things to feed myself and survive.
“I committed burglaries because I had no other way to live, I couldn’t do just one £1m robbery because it would be too easy to spot the 3ft black man in the police line-up.
“But that is my past, I am thankful for how it made me but that’s behind me and this golden ticket is helping me change my life.”

Coventry City fans have to travel to Birmingham to watch their football team but Henry reckons his particular charms could give them a great showdown closer to home.
He said: “I could sell out the Ricoh Arena, definitely.
“Because I am small but confident with it, people have never seen that combination and are intrigued.
“Girls are fascinated about whether things are in proportion, it’s just my everyday life.
“From a very young age I have been aggressive because of how I have been treated.
“Now I can hopefully make that work for me and better my life, because that is all I have wanted the chance to do.”

Dillian Whyte breaks down how he will beat Alexander Povetkin in blockbuster rematch fight after brutal KO loss

DILLIAN WHYTE says he knows ‘exactly what to do’ to beat Alexander Povetkin in the November rematch.

Whyte had earlier floored Povetkin twice and was comfortably ahead on the scorecards.
But the former WBA heavyweight champ delivered a brutal fifth-round uppercut that flattened Whyte to end the contest.
That saw Povetkin, 41, become only the second boxer to beat Whyte after Anthony Joshua stopped his big rival back in 2015.
The rematch will take place on November 21, and Whyte is in bullish mood as he plots his revenge.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 32-year-old said: “It’s not a fight that I got a sustained beating for five rounds, or I was down on the scorecards or I was getting beat up or outclassed.
“It was one of those where I got caught with a punch, he set it up, used his experience and I got caught.
“Moving forward, it’s just correcting little technical things really. I had seven amateur fights and 29 pro fights, I am still learning and figuring things out, still adjusting to things.
“One of my strengths is I adjust to things in the fights as they go on, but this time I never had the chance to adjust. I got caught, and never had the chance to make the adjustment.

“I actually think it might be a good thing.
“Now, after being knocked out, other fighters will think that’s twice now at this level.
“That’s the same shot that he’s been knocked out with – I’ll have some of that.

Mike Tyson, 54, is BETTER than he was decades ago and could challenge Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, claims trainer

MIKE TYSON could still rewind the clocks by becoming a world champion at the age of 54, according to his trainer.
Iron Mike, who was boxing’s youngest ever heavyweight champ at 18, is stepping back into the ring to fight Roy Jones Jr on November 28 in an exhibition match.

Tyson hung up his gloves in 2005 but has been working out six to seven hours a day to get himself back into incredible shape.
That was evident when he almost KO’d trainer Rafael Cordeiro with a ferocious combo during a recent training session.
And Cordeiro has been left stunned by Tyson’s ability despite his age and even claims he could beat champions Anthony Joshua and WBC holder Tyson Fury.
He told TMZ: “I believe Mike can do it. If he put his mind, he wanna fight for the belt one day, why not? Who says it’s impossible to do?

“He’s fighting every single day in the gym and I believe the best still to come.
“Why not? If one day he wants to prove, he put his techniques to the test, why not [fight for] for the belt?
“He is improving every day. He does not look like a 54-year-old fighter.”
Fury retired with a record of 50 wins from 58 bouts including 44 knockouts.

Mike Tyson given ‘cease and desist order’ by his ex-wife Robin Givens over new biopic movie with Jamie Foxx starring

MIKE TYSON’S ex-wife Robin Givens has hired lawyers and claims she is being defamed ahead of the release of a biopic about the Baddest Man on the Planet.

The American actress also claims Iron Mike, 54, is defaming her in his podcasts.
Letters from her legal team “demand that Mr Tyson cease and desist from further defaming Ms. Givens, and to put those producing, writing and/or directing the proposed Tyson biopic, and those producing Mr Tyson’s podcast, on notice that they are to refrain from portraying Ms Givens in a false, negative and defamatory light.”
The letter further states: “While [she] has attempted to move on, she still finds herself fighting the abusive, demeaning and false accounts of their relationship by Mr Tyson nearly 35 years later.

“It is time for Mr Tyson to let this marriage be the relic of the past that it is.”
And she has already won a technical KO after producers revealed they would NOT be detailing Tyson’s messy marriage and subsequent divorce in the film.
Ms Givens was Tyson’s first wife.

They were married at the height of his fame in 1988 after he became the youngest ever undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

But it was allegedly a violent marriage which ended in divorce in 1989.
Ms Givens, 55, said to have previously dated Hollywood star Eddie Murphy and basketball legend Michael Jordan, started dating Tyson in 1987.
It was claimed that after her miscarriage in 1988 their marriage fell apart.
Tyson has previously claimed that he caught her in bed with Hollywood icon Brad Pitt as their divorce was still being finalised.
Ms Givens was awarded a $10million divorce settlement but claims she did not receive anything.
She filed a $125m claim for defamation against him before their divorce on Valentine’s Day in 1989.
Ms Givens has previously admitted to being “disturbed” by Tyson’s book detailing their tempestuous marriage.
She was left distressed after reading her ex-partner’s biography “Fire and Fear: The Inside Story of Mike Tyson” released the same year they split.

Mike Tyson took cocaine and cannabis moments before ring walk as Lou Savarese tells incredible tale 20 years on

MIKE TYSON claims he took cocaine and marijuana just moments before his fight against Lou Savarese.
Iron Mike – is preparing for his comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr aged 54 – said he indulged in drugs moments before his ring walk at Hampden in June 2000.

Tyson got around drug tests by using a fake penisCredit: Reuters

Tyson – who used a fake penis to beat drug tests – beat Savarese via technical knockout just 38 seconds into the first round.
The Baddest Man on the Planet sent Savarese crashing to the canvas after a monster left hook just 12 seconds in.
And it was while referee John Coyle tried to stop the relentless onslaught that he was also clocked by Tyson.
The man in the middle went sprawling before eventually getting back up and calling the fight off.

Tyson – who now has his own cannabis empire – was fined £125,000 for not obeying the ref’s orders and, in the carnage that followed the fight, gave his infamous comment about wanting to eat Lennox Lewis’ children.
The win over Savarese was the second fastest of Tyson’s career and came in his third comeback fight after a nine-month break.
Tyson had served a four-month prison sentence for assaulting two motorists in that time.
But his drug-use had not taken a back seat and, incredibly, he even used them right before fights.

Savarese, who retired after his final fight against Evander Holyfield in June 2007, is adamant the ref should have allowed the fight to go on.
