Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce agree to fight in November or December after growing sick of waiting for fans’ return

DANIEL DUBOIS and Joe Joyce have signed to settle their grudge match behind-closed-doors this year.
Dynamite Dan was originally billed to defend his British and Commonwealth titles against the Juggernaut at a packed O2 in April.

But the coronavirus pandemic and ban on fans have led to a handful of rescheduled dates.
The London giants have now agreed to settle the score in a silent screamer with Dubois eager to get the show back on the road.
He said: “Nothing’s changed from February when I first said I’d knock Joe out.
“It’s a tough fight, he’s a good fighter, but I’m looking to deliver another devastating performance and move on to fight for a world title.

“I’m just glad we can finally get it on. I know we’ve both been looking forward to it and I’m sure the British public are just as excited as we are for us to finally fight.
“Joe is going to find out just how explosive Dynamite really is.”
Joyce added: “The fight is finally on and I can’t wait to get my hands on this guy.
“It’s going to be an explosive night.”

Boxing’s Mount Rushmore.. and Tyson & Mayweather don’t make the cut

Promoter Frank Warren admitted both fighters were itching to step back in the ring with fears sporting arenas will remain empty until Spring.
Warren told SunSport: “These lads are not willing to wait anymore, to their credit, so we will now let them loose at the end of November or early December.
“Fighting without a crowd creates a big financial black hole that we have to somehow fill and everyone involved – from the fighters to BT Sport -have been flexible to get this done.
“I don’t think fans – of any sport – will be allowed into stadiums and arenas until March and these boys did not want to wait that long.
“Joe is the older man at 35 but he has pushed hard for this. Daniel is only 23, with the world ahead of him, but does not want to sit on the sidelines for another second.”

Tyson Fury’s shock Thursday announcement, that he is demanding a December fight in the wake of the Deontay wilder trilogy being delayed again, came as a curveball.
The 6ft 9in undefeated ace has repeatedly claimed he needs a date to focus on, for the sake of his mental health.
And Warren is happy coping with the problem of having a heavyweight world champion demanding a Christmas cracker.
He said: “It’s a headache but it’s a nice headache to have.
“When Tyson says these things about his mental health – even when mixed in with funny comments – we have to take them seriously.
“We cannot ever get to a stage where we look back on a comment and regret not taking it seriously.
“Tyson wants to fight. Issues with ticket sales, travel restrictions and available opponents are problems for us that we have to deal with to keep him happy and mentally healthy.”

Tyson Fury ‘knows’ Anthony Joshua can’t fight him in December due to Pulev bout despite calling out Brit rival

TYSON FURY’S December dream of fighting Anthony Joshua on home soil has been floored.
The Gypsy King is tired of waiting for his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder to be rearranged so, on Thursday, offered AJ a monster fight behind closed doors.

But Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has KO’ed the WBC champ’s plan by reaffirming their deal to defend AJ’s WBA, WBO and IBF titles against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, leaving Fury in the cold.
Hearn told talkSPORT: “Tyson saying ‘make the fight in December’, is all hot air because we have an agreement to fight Pulev on December 12.
“We know what we are doing but he doesn’t know what he’s doing, they have no plan.
“We will sign a contract now but it won’t happen behind-closed-doors because you leave hundreds of millions on the floor.

“Almost everything has been agreed for a two-fight deal for 2021. But Tyson knows we have an agreement to fight Pulev in December so he knows we cannot make that fight now.”
Matchroom boss Hearn – who failed a COVID-19 test on Thursday and is self-isolating in the spare room of his Essex mansion – does hope one of the all-English bouts happens in the UK.
AJ and his matchmaker are partners with the Saudi Arabian Government, following the December rematch win there over Andy Ruiz Jr. And Fury earned a fortune by wrestling for the WWE in the controversial Gulf state in 2019.
The Middle East is a front runner to host the long-awaited Fury vs Joshua grudge match but Hearn remains hopeful one leg will be played at home.

    4

He said: “We will get outrageous offers from all over the world, it should take place in Britain but we have to field all of the offers and let the fighters make the decision.
“This is a brutal sport and the biggest fight so they cannot take half the money just to do it in the UK.
“One must take place here but it’s my job to find a way to generate the money to do a UK fight, which isn’t easy normally, or especially now.”
Hearn arrived at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes to oversee Joshua Buatsi’s bout against Marko Calic on Sunday night.
But the 41-year-old jet setter was the only person out of around 70 personnel inside the MK Dons stadium to give a positive coronavirus test.
After driving himself home and locking himself away, with mild flu-like symptoms, he said: “I am alright, I arrived at the fight bubble and went into the testing room and then to my room to isolate until the result.

After his retirement in 2009, De La Hoya focused on his business, Golden Boy Promotions, which has promoted some of the greatest fighters of all time, including Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Saul Canelo Alvarez.
De La Hoya announced his return to the ring in 2020, and revealed he has returned to training.
    Bernard Hopkins: 55-8 record
Bernard Hopkins was a physical marvel, a true freak of nature with a skill-set and intelligence that would have allowed him to compete in any era of the sport.
Hopkins was the undisputed middleweight champion who made 20 successful defenses of his title, shattering the record previously held by Carlos Monzon.

In 2011, he became the oldest man to ever win a world title when at age 46 he defeated Jean Pascal for the WBC light heavyweight titile.
Two years later, Hopkins broke his own record by winning the IBF heavyweight title from Tavoris Cloud at the age of 48.
He again broke his own record in 2019, when he won the WBA Super title from Beibut Shumenov at the age of 49.
    Julio Cesar Chavez: 107-6 record
When it comes to great Mexican fighters, there is none better than Julio Cesar Chavez.

In a career filled with legendary moments, Chavez is probably best known for coming from behind on the scorecard to win a knockout victory over Meldrick Taylor with seconds remaining in the 12th round.
He also posted notable victories over Greg Haugen, the late Hector “Macho” Camacho and Edwin Rosario.
    Floyd Mayweather Jr: 50-0 record
There may never be another fighter with the pure talent of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
His defensive skills were like art – leaving opponents unable to land a clean hit.

He is one of the very few boxers to end their career undefeated, going 50-0.
    Mike Tyson: 50-6 record
Arguably the most feared man inside a boxing ring, Mike Tyson was a scary combination of speed and power.
His persona was enough to intimidate anyone and many fighters were defeated before ever stepping foot in the ring.
Nicknamed The Baddest Man on the Planet, Tyson was a force in the heavyweight division during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

    16

He became the youngest boxing heavyweight champion in history at just 20 years of age.
Tyson also became the first man to ever unify the WBC, IBG and WBA heavyweight titles, holding all three at the same time.
    Henry Armstrong: 152-22 record
Henry Armstrong is one of the few fighters in history to simultaneously hold world championships in three different weight divisions.
This was an impressive feat during the 1930s, as there were only eight recognized divisions at the time.
Armstrong took on and defeated many of the notable fighters of the age.

    16

During the 1940s, Henry Armstrong was a triple champion holding the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles simultaneously
He won the featherweight title from Petey Sarron in 1937, before quickly jumping up a weight to win the welterweight championship in 1938 after defeating Barney Ross.
Armstrong would go on to defend the welterweight title a record 18 times before dropping it to Fritzie Zivic in 1940.
During his welterweight reign he also captured the lightweight title, which made him a triple champion holding the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles simultaneously.
    Joe Louis: 66-3 record
In 1937, Joe Louis was crowned the new lineal heavyweight champion – a title he would hold for 140 months.
Nicknamed The Brown Bomber, Louis’ reign as heavyweight champion was legendary, successfully defending the title a record 25 times.

Known as a power puncher, Louis is often ranked as top on various boxing greats lists, especially as he was the first African-American boxer to achieve mainstream stardom in the US – a country brimming with racism at the time.
Louis is known for a 1936 loss to Max Schmeling, considered the Fight of the Year, and for wins over James Braddock, Billy Conn, Jersey Joe Walcott and a first-round knockout of Schmeling to average his earlier defeat.
Top Four in Boxing Mount Rushmore
    Roberto Duran: 103-16 record
Known as Las Manos de Piedra, or Hands of Stone, Roberto Duran was a trash-talking, aggressive brawler who fought and beat many of the best of his era.

The Panamanian dominated the sport of boxing in a career that spanned five decades with over 100 professional victories.
His career started in 1968 and in 1980, he became the first man to defeat the great Sugar Ray Leonard.
Duran’s most infamous moment came in his second fight with Leonard, where he uttered the words “no mas” (no more in English) to the referee in the eighth round.

At the time, Duran held an astonishing 72-1 record – but in the closing seconds of the eighth round he turned his back to Leonard and quit, which allowed Sugar Ray to regain the WBC welterweight title.
It was soon determined that Leonard led the bout by a small margin of 68-66, 68-66 and 67-66 on the judges scorecards at the time of the TKO.
Duran continued fighting until his retirement in 2001.
    Sugar Ray Leonard: 36-3 record
Sugar Ray Leonard fought the best of his era and beat every single one of them.
His heyday during the 1980s was an era that boasted several high-profile Hall of Famers – yet he still won world championships in five divisions from welterweight to light heavyweight.

    16

His first professional defeat came against Roberto Duran in 1980, where he lost by unanimous decision.
The two ran it back that same year, but this time around Leonard got the win over Duran by TKO – after the Panamanian slugger quit in the eighth round.
He fought and beat Wilfred Benitez, Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler and Duran, giving him one of the most impressive resumes in the sport.
    Sugar Ray Robinson: 173-19 record
Sugar Ray Robinson is credited with the creation of the mythical pound-for-pound rankings that today occupy so much of the debate in the boxing world.
Robinson’s run was truly remarkable. During his amateur days he went unbeaten, winning all 85 of his fights.

Into his pro days, he went undefeated until he faced Jake LaMotta in his 41st pro fight. That’s a stretch of 126 straight victories without a defeat.
In 1946, Robinson won the welterweight title and held on to it until he jumped to middleweight and took the belt from LaMotta, avenging his earlier defeat.
Robinson spend two-and-a-half years in retirement after failing to capture the light heavyweight title from Joey Maxim in 1952.
When he returned to the ring, he once again capture the middleweight title, something he’d do five times in his illustrious career.

He fought and beat every boxing great during his era, including Carmen Basillo, Gene Fullmer, Randy Turpin, Carl Olson, Henry Armstrong, Rocky Graziano and Kid Gavilan.
    Muhammad Ali: 56-5 record
Muhammad Ali is the best heavyweight boxer of all time.
Ali fought with a style and flamboyance that made you either love him or hate him, but no matter how you see it nobody could deny his place in boxing history or as a cultural icon.

He later converted to Islam and became a became a target of the US government after refusing to serve in the Vietnam War.
As a result, Ali was stripped of his heavyweight title and did not fight for four years.

    — Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) October 1, 2020

He tweeted: “Gutted to just find out I tested positive for Covid-19 today and have to leave the bubble immediately.
“Thankfully all other tests were negative. Heading home to rest – catch up tomorrow”.
Hearn was busy preparing for the Matchroom show this weekend at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes.
It is being headlined by rising star Joshua Buatsi, who is hotly tipped to become a future world champion.

He will fight Marko Calic for the WBA International light-heavyweight title.
Hearn, like all his fighters, is tested regularly for Covid-19. This positive test came as he was entering the ‘bubble’ of all those involved in fight night.
But thankfully the 41-year-old has revealed that he is the only person to have tested positive for the virus.

Deontay Wilder has ignored all of Tyson Fury’s phone calls since he called him ‘a bit of a big dosser’ on FaceTime

TYSON FURY says Deontay Wilder is ignoring his calls after he called him ‘a bit of a big dosser’ on FaceTime.
The WBC heavyweight champion of the world cast doubt on the trilogy fight happening in December when he spoke on talkSPORT this morning.

    4

Tyson Fury thinks Deontay Wilder was a bit upset after being called a ‘little bit of a dosser’

Fury has been training throughout lockdown – up to five-times-a-day at the start of the pandemic – but Wilder III has been repeatedly postponed.
Now the 32-year-old has perhaps given a reason for radio silence from his American rival.
He said: “I’ve not heard a thing. He took a FaceTime from me in March [after the rematch].
“I called him a bit of a big dosser and then he didn’t answer the phone to me ever again.”

If Wilder does agree to the December rematch, it could be a bumper month for boxing fans.
WBA, WBO and IBF king Anthony Joshua is pencilled in to defend his belts against Kubrat Pulev early that month.
If both Brits come through their respective fights, it could set up a mouthwatering undisputed clash next year.
But Fury fancies having the AJ fight before Christmas if Wilder chickens off.

“I am about one hour from going AWOL unless I get some good news.
“Tell AJ to grow a pair and step up to fight in December. If Wilder doesn’t happen then let’s get the AJ fight in December.
“If Wilder doesn’t happen in December then I will step in and smash Anthony Joshua into next week.”

And Joshua has admitted Fury ‘randomly phones him’ to tell him he will ‘knock him out’.
AJ told Behind the Gloves: “He’s an interesting character.
“Tyson will call me randomly on the phone and he will be like, ‘have a little laugh and I will have a little laugh’.

McGregor’s manager Audie Attar this year linked up with Filipino icon PacMan.
But the WBA welterweight champion revealed that as yet he has no current contractual obligation with Attar’s Paradigm Sports company.
And he insisted he will only agree terms to fight McGregor, 32, if he can co-promote the event.
Pacquiao, 41, said in a statement: “At the present time, I do not have an existing management contract with Paradigm Sports Management.

“I have formed my own company, Pac Sports and Entertainment, and am more than willing to give the fans what they want: An exciting fight with Conor McGregor under terms and conditions where I am the co-promoter with my company.
    “Thank you and God bless.”
McGregor – who retired in June – made the announcement that he would come back to fight Pacquiao in the Middle East on Twitter.
Attar had said the UFC were involved in talks for the Irishman – who lost his boxing debut to Floyd Mayweather in 2017 – to lace up the gloves again.

White – who said he had ‘no idea’ about McGregor’s plans to box Pacquiao – then revealed Saudi Arabian chiefs were not aware of the fight and even ordered the Irishman to remove a social media post publicising the fight.

The rivals are in talks to both make their boxing debuts on the undercard of Conor McGregor’s proposed fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Despite the lure of sharing the bill with two of fighting’s biggest stars, Lewis-Parry says the chance to settle a feud with Jones provides his biggest motivation.
He told SunSport: “For me it’s a personal gripe, rather than, ‘Oh, this will be cool, let me do this’.
“In all honesty, he cannot compete with me in boxing, there is no way, it’s not even it will be one-sided.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a beef, because I don’t care about the man enough, but it’s a very strong distain.

“I don’t like him, simply because of the way he conducts himself.”
Lewis-Parry’s rivalry with the UFC legend dates back to 2016, when he travelled to America to help Daniel Cormier prepare to rematch Jones.
After a heated sit down interview between Jones, 33, and DC, 41, Lewis-Parry, 37, was caught up in the middle.
Jones began hurling verbals to the 6ft 10in ex-kickboxer, which almost started a street brawl had it not been for security guards’ intervention.

When the opposing camps then arrived at a UFC arena, Jones and his two brothers – both NFL players – surrounded Lewis-Parry.
The years since have seen the MMA fighters continue their bad blood.
But Lewis-Parry says what he believes was a drunken direct message from Jones – who tested positive for cocaine in 2015 – took his hatred to new personal heights.
He explained: “He DM’d me one night, and I think that he was drunk, probably because of typos and all that and it was four in the morning.
“Alright, cool, we know he has substance abuse problems and I’m not going to hold that against you, but he started talking about parenthood.
“That p****ed me off. It got personal as I was going through visa issues at the time and I hadn’t seen my son in two years, I couldn’t get to the States.
“And he was targeting s*** like that, now I thought, you f***ing scumbag, and excuse my language!
“That’s when it became a personal thing.”

Lewis-Parry – an mmatv.com star – was finally given the chance to confront Jones, as the two clashed at a BodyPower convention in Birmingham last year.
He said: “I’ll put this on the record, I do not for one second think Jon Jones is scared of me. He’s a grown man, and an accomplished man.
“He’s not scared of anybody, but I think he knows if we were to stand and strike he has no chance, and he knows that.
“You can lie to others but you can’t lie to yourself.
“I would never have gone there and started a fight in front of all these kids and fans who had been queuing for hours for the one time they could meet their hero.
“I wouldn’t take that away from them and it’s important that’s understood.
“But for a man that was as disrespectful as he was, I had to address the situation. Especially if he’s around the corner from me.
“I was with a sponsor and someone said, ‘Jon Jones is round there’. I said, ‘Is he really?’

“You can’t say all that stuff and expect to just walk around, you have to be held accountable for what he’s said, especially someone in his position where he’s looked up to and idolised by millions.”
The duo have the opportunity to finally settle the score, after Lewis-Parry – who has trained with David Haye and Joe Joyce – revealed he was approached to box Jones.
But it is dependant on whether McGregor, 32, and Pacquiao, 41, can agree terms, setting up space for the blockbuster co-headliner.
Despite Jones’ supremacy in the UFC’s light-heavyweight division, Lewis-Parry gives him ‘no chance’ when the cage is traded for the ring.
He said: “People will be surprised. But his ego is one of those that will make him want to prove he can do it – but he’ll end up flat on his back.
“I can bet all my shoe collection on that, he will be flat on his back.
“Maybe the average MMA fan, not boxing fan, may think because of his accolades and who he is that he would win.
“Straight boxing he has absolutely no chance, and I’ve never said anything with such confidence.
“I feel like if I give the guy a hiding it might teach him to sort his ways and what better way to do that than in a boxing match, the most beloved sport in the UK.”

Tyson Fury fears Dillian Whyte could suffer ‘severe brain damage’ if instant Povetkin rematch ends in another brutal KO

TYSON FURY fears Dillian Whyte could suffer ‘serious brain damage’ if his instant Alexander Povetkin rematch ends in another gruesome KO.
The Gypsy King and Brixton ace have shared a fiery relationship recently.

Whyte was a long-running mandatory challenger to Fury’s WBC title before his shock August 22 loss to Povetkin.
The Body Snatcher has leapt off the canvas and straight into a November 21 rematch against the Russian slugger.
A rerun win will put the 32-year-old Brit back in line for a crack at Fury’s world title.
But the 6ft 9in undefeated ace fears another concussive defeat to the former Olympic and world champ could have catastrophic consequences.

Fury told talkSPORT: “Povetkin was a major upset and this rematch is too soon for Dillian.
“I took six months off to recover after taking big shots in the first Wilder fight.
“And if he gets chinned again like that he could end up with serious brain damage.
“But what do I know, I have only been doing this for 30 years.”

    STILL PACKS A PUNCH
Tyson’s explosive punching could upset Joshua and Fury, says Jones Jr

Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn told SunSport: “There are two ways to look at it; Dillian controlled the fight and was moments from winning until a one-in-a-million punch stunned him and the chances of that happening again in the rematch are very small.
“Or you can say that Povetkin took two of Dillian’s best shots, got off the floor twice and stopped him with the only real punch he connected with.
“It wasn’t a 12-round war or a prolonged beating so physically Dillian should be fine but the rematch is more about the psychological side.
“Dillian demanded the rematch straight away, no hesitation, because he believes it was just a split second mistake that he can correct.
“But Povetkin also snapped up the rematch because he now thinks he has the beating of Dillian and can pop back over to double his money with another easy night’s work.
“A knockout like that you can physically recover from reasonably quickly. But mentally it can leave a mark on fighters and we will find out on November 21.”
