Dustin Poirier says Conor McGregor wants to fight Pacquiao and will use their UFC rematch to prepare for southpaw star

DUSTIN POIRIER believes Conor McGregor still wants to face Manny Pacquiao and could use their rematch to prepare for the fight.
McGregor, 32, last month announced he would be boxing Pacquiao, only to then accept an offer to fight Poirier in the UFC.

McGregor has been training ahead of his UFC comeback

The UFC want the Irishman to return to the octagon on January 23, but Notorious is adamant he will fight before the year’s end.
That leaves his proposed mega-fight with Filipino Pacquiao, 41, up in the air.
But left-hander Poirier, 31, reckons McGregor wants to fight another southpaw before starting the year with a boxing match against PacMan.
He told THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas: “He’s angling to fight Pacquiao right? That was in the news.

“I don’t know if the UFC wants him to fight one more time before they allow him to fight Pacquiao or if he just wants to get one more in this year before starting next year with the Pacquiao fight.
“But what better way to do it against another southpaw.
“I think that might be part of his mindset, maybe he wants to fight a southpaw before he fights another southpaw.
“I don’t know what’s going on but I just feel like that’s what the alignment is.”

McGregor last fought in January, knocking out 37-year-old Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds.
But his plan for a three-fight ‘season’ was dashed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The lack of activity led to McGregor announcing his retirement and later spending the summer holidaying in France and Italy, where he continued to train.
He does now appear close to confirming his return with the possibility of securing a second fight this year.
And Pacquiao has kept his hopes of facing the former UFC champion alive after agreeing a new deal with management company Paradigm, who also work with McGregor.

Jake Paul can ‘definitely fight’ and has improved in three key areas, claims sparring partner and unbeaten boxer

JAKE PAUL can ‘definitely fight’ and has improved as a professional boxer, insists Hasim Rahman Jr.
The YouTube star turned professional in January, and beat internet rival ‘AnEsonGib’ in the first round.

He now prepares to face ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 36, next month on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s boxing comeback.
Unbeaten cruiserweight Rahman Jr – whose dad famously knocked out Lennox Lewis in 2001 – first shared the ring with Paul earlier this year.
But when he returned to spar the 23-year-old last week, he was left impressed with the novice’s development.
Rahman Jr, 29, told Sky Sports: “I kind of expected the same thing that I boxed the first time – and that’s not what I got.

“I got somebody that had a better right hand, I had somebody that was actually stepping in with the jab.
“The best thing about it is – I had somebody that could control his distance.
“The first time he couldn’t really do anything like that. He was really just fighting. I could just tell that he had heart.
“Now he’s using his distance better, he’s actually stepping into his jab, instead of just putting it there, and he’s throwing a good one-two.

“He’s definitely progressing and he’s getting a lot better. I think that he’ll handle Nate Robinson pretty easy.”

Paul wanted to face KSI – real name Olajide William Olatunji – after the 27-year-old Brit beat his brother Logan by split-decision in November.
But he has to first face Robinson, which acts as co-headliner for Tyson’s eight-round exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.
With Logan – who is in shock talks to box Floyd Mayweather Jr – also ready to return to the ring, Rahman Jr tips Jake as the better boxing brother.
He said: “Jake is definitely the better fighter of the two and he definitely could do a little something with boxing, if he keeps his mind to it.
“He’s young, he has heart, he has a great team, and that’s what is going to get him to wherever it is he wants to go, if he stays focused with it.
“I think that he likes boxing a little bit more than his brother.
“When you’re getting millions of dollars inside your first 10 fights, it’s kind of hard to get motivated for those fights against guys that have been doing this for 25 years.
“He’ll have some entertaining fights, he’s an entertaining guy, but I don’t know about world level.
“When it comes to world level fighting, now you’re pushing it a little bit.”

Errol Spence Jr shows off horrific facial injuries in hospital bed year after near-fatal high-speed car crash

ERROL SPENCE JR released images revealing the horrific facial injuries he suffered after his near-fatal high-speed car crash last year.
The unified welterweight champion’s Ferrari flipped while he was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt 12 months ago.

Spence somehow came out unscathed for the DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) offence but was left hospitalised.
The unbeaten boxer uploaded pictures of his battered car and himself in a hospital bed covered with scratches, bruises and swelling.
He captioned the Instagram post: “A Year today…I don’t know how or why I got saved but thank God the thought of leaving my lil girls & them growing up without me still f*** with me but I’m triple blessed & must be here for a reason…”
The 30-year-old was initially blasted after boasting that he was a ‘savage’ for surviving the crash.

But six months later, Spence opened up about how the near miss changed his perspective on life, and admitted he is lucky to still be alive.
The crash prevented ex-champion Danny Garcia from challenging for the 147lb titles with the pair originally set to fight in January.
After recovering, Spence was lined up to defend his WBC and IBF titles against Garcia in late November.
But now, the champion will now receive a homecoming as the fight was moved a month to accommodate limited fans.

Muhammad Ali was SCARED to fight Mike Tyson because he feared punching power, George Foreman reveals

GEORGE FOREMAN has revealed that Muhammad Ali once admitted to him that he didn’t believe he could’ve beaten Mike Tyson in his prime.
Widely considered to be the two greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, many have passionately speculated as to who would have won if they’d met in their primes.

The brand new book features amazing stories about the legendary fighter

Muhammad Ali Jr believes that his father would have “kicked Tyson’s butt”… but the man himself wasn’t so sure.
Ali’s Rumble in the Jungle rival Foreman has made the revelation that Ali wasn’t so sure he’d have been able to beat the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ in his pomp.
Speaking to Fiaz Rafiq for his brand new book, Muhammad Ali: The Life of a Legend, Foreman made the stunning declaration.
He said: “Muhammad Ali told me himself.

“I said to him, ‘Do you think Tyson could beat anybody?’
“He said, ‘Man, Tyson hits so hard.’
“He felt Tyson hit harder than anyone he’d faced.
“He told me once that he didn’t have the confidence he could have beaten Mike Tyson.”

Veteran promoter Don King, who worked with both legendary fighters, also gives his opinion on comparisons between the pair in the brand new book.
The 88-year-old says: “They were both great heavyweights. Muhammad Ali had the blinding speed and he was a dancer in the ring. He was a fighter.
“He was a combination of things. He was emulating and imitating Sugar Ray Robinson, who was one of his idols.
“Ray Robinson, I think, was the best boxer of all time.
“Muhammad Ali made a heavyweight look like a middleweight the way he was fighting. Then he would coin all of his phrases and predictions.
“They would become exciting up to the countdown to see it. The people hated him or loved him.”
King, who was behind the promotions of the Rumble in the Jungle and Thrilla in Manilla, also had plenty to say on Tyson.
He continued: “Mike Tyson had awesome, devastating power.

Mike Tyson, same thing – love him or hate him. But he was the menacing, devastating guy that wants to punch you so hard and put your nose up your brain.
    Don King

“He was not the boxer that would be boxing and laughing – he was menacing. He was the guy that came in that they feared. You would be shivering in your bones. He would go out and seek and destroy.
“Ali would go another way. He would win with his skill, charm and wit.
“So these two guys were both great fighters. Mike Tyson, same thing – love him or hate him. But he was the menacing, devastating guy that wants to punch you so hard and put your nose up your brain.
“He was the kind of guy not to be loved like a guy like Muhammad Ali ended up being.
“But it was not that Ali wasn’t in the beginning, because he was excoriated and vilified, but he was still at a time when he was making a move to become recognised by people.”
The late, great Ali, who passed away in 2016, fought for the final time in 1981 – four years prior to Tyson lacing up the gloves professionally.
Of 61 professional fights, Ali won 56 – with three of his five defeats coming in his final four fights.
And of those losses, only those to Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick – who in a twist of fate was to be beaten by Tyson five years later with the WBC title on the line – in the final year of his career weren’t later avenged in subsequent rematches.

Dave Allen reveals texts with Tyson Fury over December fight before Anthony Joshua after Wilder trilogy collapsed

DAVE ALLEN has revealed texts with Tyson Fury over a potential December fight.
The WBC heavyweight world champion has vowed to fight in Britain this year after tearing up a deal to face Deontay Wilder.

The move has sparked discussion over who Fury, 32, might face.
And Allen, 28, has spoken of his hopes of facing the Gypsy King if he downs Christian Hammer later this month.
He said in an Instagram clip: “I text Tyson half an hour ago.
“And I went, ‘If I beat Hammer… Let’s do it like Rocky I, give me a shot’.

“He text me and said, ‘Beat Hammer and you get a big fight’.
“And I said, ‘Is that a maybe?’ So you never know.”
Doncaster-born Allen faces Romania’s Hammer after downing Dorian Darch last time out, with David Price the only man to beat him in two years.
Fury was set for a trilogy meeting with Wilder, 34, in Las Vegas having grabbed his world title belt in a convincing February victory.

But the Brit has now called the contest off.
He told The Athletic: “I was looking forward to smashing Wilder again. A quick and easy fight.
“But Wilder and his team were messing around with the date. They don’t really want to fight the lineal heavyweight champion.”
Promoter Frank Warren backed up Fury’s claim, stating that a mega unification battle against Anthony Joshua is being eyed for 2021.
He told talkSPORT: “Tyson has said enough is enough, he is not going to wait longer and he will fight in London in December.
“That is what will happen. We haven’t finalised who it will be or anything yet, but that is what will happen.

Tyson Fury confirms Deontay Wilder fight is OFF and ‘I’ve moved on’ to face Anthony Joshua in blockbuster 2021 clash

TYSON FURY has confirmed that he has ditched his planned trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder.
The Gypsy King claimed organisers failed to deliver a date for the event in 2020 and he is now free to deliver an all-British heavyweight unification showdown with Anthony Joshua next year.

The Gypsy King’s move has paved the way for an undisputed heavyweight championship bout with Anthony Joshua in 2021

He told the Athletic: “I was looking forward to smashing Wilder again. A quick and easy fight.
“But Wilder and his team were messing around with the date. They don’t really want to fight the lineal heavyweight champion.
“They know how it ends. The world knows how it will end: with Wilder on his ass again.
“Then they asked me if I would agree to push it to December. I agreed to Dec 19.

“Then they tried to change the date again into next year. I’ve been training. I’m ready. When they tried moving off Dec 19 and pushing to next year, enough was enough. I’ve moved on.
“I am the best fighter in the world. The lineal heavyweight champion. The two-time Ring magazine heavyweight champion. The WBC heavyweight champion.
“And before the end of 2021, I will be the only man on this earth with a heavyweight championship belt.”
Fury’s annoucement comes just a day after his promoter Bob Arum confirmed the plan was for the WBC king to fight in the UK in December, then face AJ in April or May 2021.

Wilder and his team were messing around with the date. They don’t really want to fight the lineal heavyweight champion. They know how it ends. The world knows how it will end: with Wilder on his ass again.

Secret texts before Joshua defeat to Ruiz reveal American agreed to sparring role

When asked if the Gypsy King would be fighting Wilder, he told talkSPORT: “That’s up to Tyson because if we can’t, as appears to be the case, put on Wilder vs Fury this year, Tyson wants to keep busy and we are going to accommodate him.
“Then next year, assuming Joshua beats Pulev, we can look forward to a Fury vs Joshua fight.”
However, SunSport can reveal that Fury’s attempt to scrap the Wilder trilogy has not been ratified by the WBC.
The undefeated British ace dethroned the American in February to secure the iconic green and gold belt.

But Wilder’s team claim there is no truth to the ‘expired contract’ line and the bout is going ahead as planned.
The WBC has been a staunch supporter of Fury’s, sanctioning his original shock December 2018 bid for their title after he had gone three years without a competitive fight – that ended in a controversial draw.
The Mexico-based body also stood firmly by the Morecambe man when he was briefly accused of tampering with an Anti-Doping case in March.
But SunSport understands neither Fury nor Wilder has informed the WBC of any plans to cancel their third showdown.
And, most significantly, the sanctioning giant has not given their blessing for Fury to defend his title against any other fighter in December.
Fury and WBC boss Maurico Sulaiman appear to have a close friendship, following emotional meetings in the ring after each Wilder clash.

But Wilder’s co-promoter Al Haymon also appears to have a close working relationship with the organisation, with a number of his high-profile talents holding their honours.
Fury’s UK promoter Frank Warren said on Saturday: “I don’t know if that fight can get on this year.
“Promoters on both sides, we have worked very hard to make it happen, but it’s looking like it will not happen.
“There’s talk about it happening next year. Tyson has been training like a lot of guys solidly since February, and he wants to fight this year.
“My concern is Tyson’s welfare and well-being, and delivering what he wants, so he will fight this year.
“Contractual commitments are what they are, but contracts do not go on forever, and if the fight cannot be delivered within the contractual period, Tyson will move on and maybe revisit the fight another time.”

Mike Tyson’s stunning houses through his career, from 21-bed Connecticut mansion to Ohio pad which is now a church

THROUGHOUT the years, as Mike Tyson rose through the ranks to become heavyweight champion of the world, the boxing legend bought and sold some stunning homes.
‘Iron Mike’ came a long way from the humble beginnings of his childhood home in Brooklyn to mansions filled with tiger cages as millions of dollars poured in.

    19

    19

Mike Tyson has lived in the most amazing homes dotted all over America

After losing it all, Tyson, now 54, is once again worth millions after launching his company Tyson Holistic and flogging medical marijuana.
And he’s even in line for a comeback – the knockout king is set to face Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition fight on November 28.
But it’s his former homes that really amaze and show how the king of the ring loved living.
    NEW YORK
Tyson spent most of his childhood years in a modest apartment in Brooklyn in Brownsville in the mid 1970s.

It was a neighbourhood, at the time, that was a breeding ground for crime and most residents lived poorly.
In the past, Tyson has admitted mixing with criminals as he looked for acceptance and joined a gang of petty thieves.
But in his spare-time in the Brownsville abode, he became fascinated by pigeons.

A young Tyson kept pigeons on the rooftop of the Brooklyn apartment
He kept coops on the rooftop of the building and cared for the birds religiously.

Today, apartments in the area can fetch up to £500,000.
    OHIO
Tyson’s fall from grace began in 1992, when he was convicted of rape and was sentenced to six years in prison, of which he served three.
Financially drained, he was forced to sell this incredible home in 1999 for around £855,000.
Today, remarkably, it’s been converted into a church.
But in Tyson’s day it boasted five bedrooms and a full-size pool and Jacuzzi alongside its tiger cages and basketball court, with the entire pad decked out with crystal chandeliers.
The delipidated pool has since been turned into a sanctuary while the living room is now a gathering place.
Remnants of the 53-year-old’s time still remain with the basketball court still intact, as well as Mike Tyson’s name etched onto the front gate.

The old fireplace has since been turned into an indoor waterfall while the four-bay garage is now classrooms and a nursery.
And the tall steel cages where Tyson kept his famous four tigers have been dismantled for a pavilion.
    CONNECTICUT
In 2003, Tyson was declared bankrupt.
That meant he had to sell up again – and a 52-room mansion in Connecticut he used to live in was eventually bought by rapper 50 Cent for £3.3million.
Boasting 21 bedrooms, as well as its own nightclub the property is as lavish as Tyson has ever owned.
The 50,000-square-foot property also has 25 bathrooms, an indoor pool and hot tub, an indoor basketball court, multiple game rooms, a green-screen room, and a recording studio.
And the opulence doesn’t end there.
Entering the property through a stately front gate, you’re greeted by a lion statue.
However, the running costs – believed to be around £50,000-per-month – forced 50 Cent to sell the house in 2019.

    MARYLAND
Tyson’s Maryland residence was bought with ex-wife Monica Turner in 1995.
The pair lived there through the early 2000s, until the pair divorced after she claimed he committed adultery.
Turner won the house in the divorce settlement, which is just 30 minutes from Washington DC.
It features seven bedrooms, a large gym, game room, swimming pool, sports court and a piano room.
It also overlooks the Congressional Country Club golf course, which has hosted several US Open tournaments.
Back in May, the home was listed for sale at £7million.

    THE HANGOVER PAD
In 2008, Tyson let Hollywood film director Todd Phillips into his £1.5million Las Vegas pad to film legendary scenes from the hit comedy movie.
And what a lavish setting it is too.
Found in the beautiful gated community called Seven Hills in the suburb of Henderson, it boasts six bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and its own private balcony.
There’s also the incredible 18-hole Rio Secco Golf Club to enjoy, as well as four large private parks filled with basketball courts, tennis courts and football pitches.
Like many new builds in Las Vegas within gated communities, the 5,740-square-feet mansion was built in an Italian style in 2001.
Two-storeys in size, the entrance opens to a grand reception room with a 25-foot-high lit waterfall, which connects to the great room that has a wet bar and fireplace.
Tyson lived in the property with third wife Lakiha, eventually selling it in 2016.

    HIS CURRENT HOME
Today, back at the top, Tyson lives a life of luxury once more. And he loves living in Henderson, Las Vegas.
Shortly after he sold ‘The Hangover’ home, he bought this nearby mansion for £2.5million.
The 8,149 square-foot mansion in Henderson, Nevada, built in 2001, has plenty of indoor and outside space.
There are six spacious bedrooms and six bathrooms in his mediterranean-style villa.
Again, it’s found in the gated community of Seven Hills – so it’s surrounded by parks and tennis and basketball courts.

Did Anthony Joshua really beat up Tyson Fury over three rounds? Boxing rivals recall sparring session

LAST year, rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury had agreed to spar each other – and it would not have been the first time, either.
Joshua, 30, told the Gypsy King, 32, he would help him prepare to face Deontay Wilder by becoming one of his sparring partners.

AJ’s proposition was accepted by Fury who would “love” to have AJ in his training camp – but it never happened.
Now the two are in line to fight for real in an all-British unification fight.
It comes after the heavyweight champions verbally agreed to a two-fight deal for next year.
Joshua and Fury have shared the ring before, in 2010, when the Gypsy King was 22 and preparing to face Derek Chisora for the first time – with Joshua a 20-year-old amateur.

Soon after their spar, in a candid interview with journalist Steve Bunce, Fury admitted Joshua “gave me a beating” for three rounds – and predicted the unified champion’s future stardom.
He said: “He’s very good. To be honest with you, I thought to myself ‘I’m only going to take it easy as he’s an amateur and we probably won’t spar again if I go mad.
“He’s rushed out at me he threw a one-two and left-hook and I slipped, slipped and I thought he’s not very good I’m going to take my time.
“Then bash, he hits me with a big uppercut right on the point of the chin – if I had a bit of a weak chin like David Price I would’ve been knocked out for a month.

    AN ABSOLUTE CON
Tyson thinks UFC is ‘sexy’ but McGregor & Co will never earn what boxers do

“He’s very, very good and only young, 20, watch out for that name Anthony Joshua he is one prospect for the future.
“He came out at me for three rounds and he gave me a beating – I’m not going to deny it, he gave me hell for leather.
“For three rounds I thought ‘Oh my god, an amateur is killing me’.
“Being a professional, and I’ve been an amateur myself and fought all over the world, I slowed him down a bit with a few good body shots.
“The kid’s only 20, and I’m a handful myself, so for him to put up a good performance like that against a top prospect in me, I think he’s one for the future.”
AJ explained: “I was just in the gym to avoid getting punched if I was found guilty for one of my court cases.

“Tyson Fury came down, my coach told me this was the guy from the paper and if he is knocked out, you get a Rolex watch.
“I wasn’t even in to Rolex watches back then, I was rocking Casios!
“I was young and we just went to war really. He’s a gypsy warrior, hungry and that’s it – just a good, all out heavyweight sparring session.”
It seems Fury himself had a change of heart about what happened ten years ago.

Speaking to Showtime before he drew against Wilder, the Manchester slickster maintained Joshua had success in the early rounds, but was left squealing from body shots later on.
Fury said: “We’ve had a spar before – amateur boxer he was at the time – he had a good couple of rounds then I started hitting him round the body.

He came out at me for three rounds and he gave me a beating – I’m not going to deny it, he gave me hell for leather.

“He was lifting his legs up in the corner, there were 10 people in the gym who saw it.
“I’m there with my hands down, he’s coming forward with big swings, how’s he going to hit me? I said go on then, put one on me, I’ll stand still.”
Fury even claims he offered to have a street fight with AJ – but the Watford ace “s*** himself”.
He revealed: “He seems pretty spirited, doesn’t he?
“But when I stood face-to-face to him and said, ‘Do you want to get outside?’ His a*** started flapping.
    “He s*** himself.

Tyson Fury accepts Anthony Joshua’s offer to help him spar for Deontay Wilder fight
“It doesn’t matter what weight I was at the time, I wasn’t in shape, but I’d have took him outside and kicked his c*** right in for him.
“If a man said that to me – I don’t care if I was unfit or not – he’d be outside and punches. We’d have had to have a fight. Simple.
“But I said that to him and he didn’t want to know.”
