Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev could be staged abroad after latest lockdown floors plan to have fans inside The O2

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S clash with Kubrat Pulev could still end up being staged abroad — to cover an £8million Covid KO.
Watford hero AJ’s mandatory defence against the Bulgarian was meant to be at Tottenham’s new stadium in June, securing him a monster payday.

The venue for Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight title defence against Kubrat Pulev could yet be overseasCredit: AFP or licensors

One possible alternative is for the AJ vs Pulev fight to switch to Wembley Arena – after the success of Usyk against Chsiora

But the coronavirus crisis forced the fight to be delayed until December 12.
Promoter Eddie Hearn secured London’s O2 to host it and pleaded with Government to allow some socially distanced fans inside.
But latest lockdown rules floored that idea — leaving a huge financial blackhole.

And that may force them to seek out a venue outside the UK after Saudi Arabia stumped up £100m for Joshua’s 2019 rematch win against Andy Ruiz.

Having watched Oleksandr Usyk outpoint Derek Chisora on Saturday at Wembley Arena, Hearn said: “We have the best bubble in boxing and elite sport is not part of lockdown.
“We can sustain it — but we want to be a profitable business.
“We lost what would have been a £2m gate at the O2 for this fight.
“We made it up by sticking some of ours in, Sky adding some and the fighters taking less to balance it out.

“AJ was going to take £8m on the gate at Spurs so obviously he is taking a pay cut.
“We will try to have fans at the Joshua fight — but we could also take it somewhere internationally.”
If the fight did stay on these shores, then it makes more sense for Hearn to hold it at Wembley Arena after the successful Chisora v Usyk night.
Hearn added: “If we can’t have any fans inside the O2 then we will probably move the AJ fight here — as we have everything set up.

Eddie Hearn is eager to sort out a venue for Anthony Joshua’s fight with Bulgarian Kubrat PulevCredit: Reuters
“The problem is nobody has any confidence to agree to anything in December, let alone January or February. People won’t sign things for April or May as they don’t know if they will be open.”
Usyk’s 12-round scrap with Brit Chisora, 36, was watched ringside by AJ.
And the former undisputed cruiserweight king sent him a chilling message.
Staring straight down a camera lens, Usyk, 33, growled: “Anthony Joshua, hello, I am coming for you.”
And Hearn admits the Ukrainian might refuse to step aside and let Joshua leap into an undisputed decider with Tyson Fury — if he passes his Pulev test.
The promoter said: “Usyk is going to struggle at heavyweight as he gives away so much size and that is what makes him beatable.
“I think AJ and Fury rate Usyk very highly, but I don’t think they have the fear factor for him.
“AJ told me he had the fight really close and he thought Del did well. AJ wants to fight Usyk.

I still think Usyk is a huge favourite against Dubois — but Dubois does have great size.
    Eddie Hearn

“It’s all business, money is important to them but Usyk wants a heavyweight world title.
“Everyone will want to fight Usyk and if we cannot do the Fury fight, then AJ will fight him.”
Usyk is WBO mandatory challenger for AJ’s titles and is next in line after Pulev gets his crack via his standing with the IBF.
If the involved parties cannot come to an agreement, Joshua could be forced to drop the belt — leaving Usyk to compete for the vacant strap.
And AJ prefers to move ahead with a two-fight mega deal with Fury that has already been financially agreed.
Hearn would have no problem with another young Brit getting a chance in No 2 ranked Daniel Dubois, 23.
He said: “We will do whatever is ordered and there will be a queue.

“Joseph Parker is No 3 and is fighting Junior Fa, who is No 6, so the winner will push for that No 2 slot.
“I still think Usyk is a huge favourite against Dubois — but Dubois does have great size.
“Usyk will box his ears off at the moment, yet the size advantage is huge and Dubois certainly punches very hard.”

Deontay Wilder’s six ridiculous excuses for losing to Tyson Fury including his heavy costume and egg-shaped object

DEONTAY WILDER has come up with a whole list of reasons to explain why he lost to Tyson Fury.
The Gypsy King inflicted the American’s first professional defeat when they clashed in the ring for the second time in February, following their initial bout ending in a draw.

And from the moment he picked himself off the floor after his seventh-round loss, Wilder has not been short of excuses on why he wasn’t able to win.
The former champ has now come up with SIX reasons for defeat – among them his his heavy ring-walk outfit and an egg-shaped object allegedly in Fury’s gloves.
    DRINK SPIKED
Wilder’s latest explanation came today, when he bizarrely alleged his drinking water had been spiked before the fight.
He told 78SPORTSTV: “About 15 minutes before going out to the fight, warming up on the mitts, it was perfect, I felt great.

“Until I went to the ring. That transformation, I was drinking certain water and stuff, trying to keep myself hydrated.
“I just start feeling weird. My water was spiked as if I took a muscle relaxer or something like that.
“This feeling here, it was a different feeling. It was like I had no control over my body, my legs was weak and stuff like that.”

Wilder has blamed everything from the referee to his coach to explain his defeatCredit: AFP – Getty

    HEAVY COSTUME
The second notable excuse from Wilder – and probably his most famous – was when he claimed ring-walk outfit was too heavy.

Hours after his loss, he said his elaborate two stone costume – donned in a tribute to black history month – weighed him down and affected his performance.
He said at the time: “He [Fury] didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is… that my uniform was way too heavy for me.
“I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through.
“I was only able to put it on [for the first time] the night before, but I didn’t think it was going to be that heavy.
“It weighed 40lb with the helmet and all the batteries. I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything.”
    TRAINER’S FAULT
The third tale for the 35-year-old was when he lashed out at his trainer.
Wilder did not agree with the decision to throw in the towel in the seventh round.

📋 Deontay Wilder’s reasons for the Tyson Fury defeat (so far):1⃣ Ring walk outfit was too heavy2⃣ Fury moved fist down within his glove3⃣ Fury put a heavy object in his glove4⃣ Water was spiked with muscle relaxer5⃣ Kenny Bayless was unfair6⃣ Mark Breland was disloyal pic.twitter.com/ucw4QnMZox
    — Michael Benson (@MichaelBensonn) November 1, 2020

    FOREIGN OBJECT
Fourth in the list of excuses did not originate from the American himself, but from a vlogger whose unfounded accusations were amplified by Wilder.
Fury, 32, was accused of cheating – an accusation he denies – by putting a heavy, egg-shaped object in his gloves.
Wilder said this weekend: “I highly believe you put something hard in your glove, something the shape and size of an egg… the reason why the side of head swelled up in the shape of an egg and left a dent in my head.”
The gloving-up process is carefully monitored by boxing authorities and there is no evidence supporting Fury finding a way to slip a heavy object in his gloves.
    BIASED REF
Another one of Wilder’s big excuses included the ref being bias.
Official Kenny Bayless is experienced but found himself under attack for supposedly favouring the Brit boxer.
Wilder said: “Bayless had come in my dressing room, looked me in my eyes and said if I hit Fury in the back of the head – a rabbit punch – or hit off of the break, he would disqualify me or deduct two points from me.
“I guess those rules just applied to me because they didn’t apply to my opponent.
~He hit me in the back of the neck and the head all night and Bayless didn’t do anything about it, to the point I got lumps and bruises. That was a thing that was very frustrating to me.”

    INJURED
And last on the list of why Wilder lost to Fury included the fighter’s claims that he was carrying an injury.
He said an injury to his left bicep meant he was unable to train for months.
It’s a statement that has more credibility than the rest of what Wilder said, but some boxing experts said it would sound more believable if not for the other claims.

Leo Santa Cruz tweets update after being taken to hospital following brutal knockout loss to Gervonta Davis

LEO SANTA CRUZ has tweeted to reassure fans he is “OK” after being taken to hospital after Gervonta Davis knocked him out with one of the punches of the year.
American Davis added the Mexican’s WBA super-lightweight crown to his own WBA lightweight title with a stunning left uppercut in round six.

Santa Cruz instantly crumpled to the ground in the corner on both fighters’ pay-per-view debut, his right knee over his body as he lay unconscious for several seconds.
Fortunately he was well enough within 24 hours to post: “We didn’t get the win, but I’m okay. Tough fight and congrats to @Gervontaa on his victory.
“Thanks to the fans for all their support for me and my family. #TeamSantaCruz ”
The 32-year-old’s only previous conqueror was Carl Frampton, four years ago, but Davis is the first man to floor him in his 40 fights.

In contrast, Davis’ savage success at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, took him to 24 wins from 24 bouts, with 23 by knockout.
The 25-year-old – aptly nicknamed Tank – said: “He was just right there for it.

“He’s a guy that he punches but he doesn’t try and get out of the way when he punches.
“There’s nowhere he could have went as the ropes were there.

“He’s a tough warrior, a strong Mexican, he came to fight, he came ready but I was just a better person.” More

Bob Arum accuses Wilder of lies and conspiracy theories after his controversial Instagram video with wild accusations

BOB ARUM has hit out at Deontay Wilder over his wild, unfounded accusations as he compared the heavyweight boxer to President Donald Trump.
The Bronze Bomber took to social media on Saturday where he made a number of excuses as to why he lost to Tyson Fury.

Bob Arum has hit out at Deontay Wilder over his controversial social media video

Wilder has made a number of excuses as to why he lost to Tyson Fury in February

Wilder, 35, has still not got over the defeat he suffered in February as he continues to blame anyone but himself.
In the clip, he accused the Gypsy King of cheating, branded his former trainer Mark Breland as ‘disloyal’ and then stated somebody has spiked his water.
His controversial excuses have infuriated Fury’s US-based promoter Arum, as he labelled his American compatriot as ‘disgraceful’.
Speaking to iFL TV, the 88-year-old said: “We haven’t heard a lot from Wilder.

“So he is probably watching television, and all I can say about his Instagram post is that he is mimicking Donald Trump.
“In other words, lies come up with conspiracy theories. Do anything but put the blame on yourself.
“For him to castigate Kenny Bayless, the referee, and Mark Breland, his chief cornerman the way he did is disgraceful.
“Because they acted properly and they saved Wilder’s life from taking any further punishment.

“When he was completely out and getting thrashed by Tyson Fury.”
Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has also reacted to Wilder’s ridiculous video as he too expressed his anger at his excuses.
He said: “It’s ridiculous. Listen, park him to the side, let the big boys, the real men go at it.
“Unless you’ve got any real substance then be quiet, go back to the drawing board, work harder, let the hunger burn to become champion again.
“It’s gone from the costume, to now he’s been found out about AJ, to now something about the gloves. It’s getting worse and worse.”

The 25-year-old – who closed the show in front of mentor Floyd Mayweather – reclaimed the super-featherweight title.
Afterwards, Davis said: “He was just right there for it. He’s a guy that he punches but he doesn’t try and get out of the way when he punches.
“There’s nowhere he could have went as the ropes were there, that’s how a professional fighter knows, they adapt to the fight.
“He’s a tough warrior, a strong Mexican, he came to fight, he came ready but I was just a better person tonight.”

Davis began the opening stages of the fight on the back foot, as Santa Cruz came forward with combinations.
The Baltimore banger, known as ‘Tank, looked to land the more telling single blows, whereas Santa Cruz was throwing in numbers.
As the early rounds racked up, Davis began to find his rhythm and judge range better, scoring with left uppercuts and lead right hooks.
Santa Cruz’s speed was still apparent, which forced his man onto the ropes, but the Mexican lacked the power to really put a dent in Davis.

By round four, Santa Cruz looked to be slowing down as he began to retreat backwards.
Davis, walking his smaller opponent down, started to invest in body punching as the fight played out on the inside.
Heading into round five, the American star did so on top, as Mayweather let out a celebration ringside.
Santa Cruz continued to plod forward but began to get countered, as Davis’ jab and body shots caught the eye.
As the bell sounded for the sixth, Santa Cruz got back on the front foot and the duo began to trade heavy hooks in close.
Davis landed with a big uppercut but was immediately countered and appeared momentarily wobbled.
He retaliated by forcing Santa Cruz into the corner, where he unleashed the show-stopping left uppercut.

Davis slipped on the outside and bowled in an uppercut that bounced off Santa Cruz’s chin and left the 32-year-old knocked out cold.
The result saw Davis win the WBA super-featherweight title as well as retaining his ‘Regular’ lightweight belt.
Having jumped between the divisions, the two-weight champion revealed he is ready to campaign at both 130lb and 135lb.
Davis said: “I’ll maintain it at both.
“Whatever best decision that my team and I come up with we’ll go with it but the best opportunity to fight, I’m not ducking or dodging nobody.
“As you know, there’s no safety on this block.
“I’m a pay-per-view star, second I ain’t ducking or dodging nobody, they know what it is, I’m No1, it showed tonight.” More

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is due to become a grandfather after confirming his daughter Iyanna is expecting a baby with rapper NBA YoungBoy.
Iyanna, better known as Yaya, has been dating the artist – real name Kentrell DeSean Gaulden – since 2019.

Floyd Mayweather is due to become a grandfather after confirming his daughter Iyanna is expecting a baby

And her father confirmed the news that the 20-year-old is pregnant with Gaulden’s child.
Boxing legend Mayweather, 43, and his ex-partner Melissia Rene Brim are said to be ‘happy’ for their daughter.
He told Hollywood Unlocked: Uncensored: “Always want the best.
“If that makes her happy, then we’re happy — me and her mother are happy.

“What I try not to do is be in her personal business because once she’s no longer under my roof, then you know what? It’s between her and her better half.”
It will be Yaya’s first child, but YoungBoy’s sixth at the age of 21, according to Page Six.
Iyanna’s relationship with Gaulden hit turmoil this year after she was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

She was taken into custody on April 4 for “felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” after an altercation between broke out.

She was later released on bail.
Gaulden himself has had several run-ins with the law, and was arrested as recently as September on drug and firearm charges.
According to The New York Times, the rapper was one of 16 people arrested on drug and firearm charges after the police and the FBI “received information from anonymous concerned citizens” about people with guns at an abandoned site in Baton Rouge.
As per the announcement, the police seized 14 guns, £61,184 in cash and an unspecified amount of drugs.
In December 2016, Gaulden was arrested in Austin, Texas on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder in connection with an alleged drive-by shooting.

“What I try not to do is be in her personal business because once she’s no longer under my roof, then you know what? It’s between her and her better half.”
    Floyd Mayweather on his daughter

He was released from prison in May 2017 after taking a plea deal and posting bail.
Despite his criminal past, Mayweather worth an estimated £500million according to Awaken The Greatest Within, blamed it on Gaulden’s upbringing and immaturity.
He said: “Well, my thing is this: it has to do with your upbringing, it starts in the home first.
“What I’ve always taught my daughter is this: always be respectful when you’re going to anyone’s home. And whatever goes on in your home, don’t talk about it to the world.
“As far as NBA – I look at NBA YoungBoy as a child. I can’t get upset with a kid like that. It could’ve been one of those days for him.”

Eddie Hearn hits back at ‘ridiculous’ Wilder claims and says ‘let the real men go at it’ after shocking accusations

EDDIE HEARN blasted Deontay Wilder’s ‘ridiculous’ allegations of cheating made towards Tyson Fury and said: ‘Let the real men go at it’.
Wilder accused Fury of loading his gloves with ‘something hard’ and blasted him for cancelling their trilogy bout.

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Hearn slammed the Bronze Bomber’s accusations which he made without any evidence provided.
And he told Wilder – who initially blamed the loss on his 45lb ring walk costume – to leave Fury, 32, and Joshua, 31, alone to fight.
He told iFL TV’s Kugan Cassius: “It’s ridiculous. “Listen, park him to the side, let the big boys, the real men go at it.
“Unless you’ve got any real substance then be quiet, go back to the drawing board, work harder, let the hunger burn to become champion again.

“It’s gone from the costume, to now he’s been found out about AJ, to now something about the gloves. It’s getting worse and worse.”
Wilder, 35, was in line to face Fury – who he drew with in 2018 – for a third time having had an immediate rematch clause.
But the stipulation expired last month, with Fury now moving in another direction as he looks to fight Joshua next year.
Wilder reacted by demanding the Gypsy King honour the initial agreement, and revealed he turned down a fight with AJ to instead go ahead with their rematch.

He tweeted: “When that fight was a draw, I told you that I would give you a rematch.
“You know I was offered more money to fight Joshua than I was getting to fight you. Again being a man of my word, I fought you like I said I would.
Hearn responded to the post: “I thought AJ ducked you?’
In his interview with Cassius, he said: “[We got] loads of criticism and it hurt because I knew how much we wanted to make that fight and I knew they were playing games.
“AJ has always pushed me to make the undisputed fight and you’ve just seen it unfold in one tweet. To be quite honest it’s sweet as a nut.”

Usyk vs Chisora LIVE RESULTS: Ukrainian WINS after Wembley war, Del Boy ‘gutted’, Selby beaten – latest reaction

OLEKSANDR USYK showed his class as he beat Dereck Chisora at Wembley Arena – but not without a scare.
Del Boy put up a terrific fight and took Usyk the distance, where all three judges narrowly scored it the way of the Ukrainian.

Follow ALL the reaction from Wembley Arena below…

    ROAD WARRIOR
Usyk has fought – and WON – in sixth different countries in his last nine fights.

    CAMERA SHY
Chisora’s team acted swiftly to BLOCK the in-dressing room camera as they went through fight tactics.
The Brit was just minutes away from his mouthwatering clash against Oleksandr Usyk when Sky Sports Box Office went to their cameras.
One of his trainers was talking about boxing movement with Chisora, who was seated on an exercise bike.
Realising that what was being discussed was going live, another member of the team quickly moved towards the camera and pointed the lens to the floor.
There was then some searching around for a towel to make sure no secrets got out.
Just minutes later his rival Usyk decided to use TAPE to cover up his camera – maybe Sky Sports will be reviewing these live cameras for next time.

    FROM WLAD TO WORSE
Wladimir Klitschko has accused Tyson Fury of using drugs again.
Fury, 32, stunned the world when he went to Germany in 2015 and totally outboxed the ten-year champion to become the unified king.
And, five years later, when the WBC sanctioning body asked their Twitter followers how Wladimir’s older brother Vitali would have done in this era,
Fury had another pop at the fighting family.
The Gypsy King wrote: “Would [have] loved to kick his ass also.” Wladimir saw the message and dived in to defend his elder sibling, who was a three-time heavyweight world champion between 1999 and 2012.
The retired legend slammed Fury for never having their rematch and brought up sick comments the Brit made in his checkered past.

Fans, Sadly it appears @Tyson_Fury is abusing substances again. History shows he goes off the deep end with irrational, sexist, racial, statements.Truth is Klitschko and ass kick is fantasy for him. Klitschko and run, ran, or dodged the rematch is more accurate. “Just say no” pal

    MACK THE KNIFE
Matthew Macklin has revealed his scorecard for Chisora-Usyk, with one clear winner.

I thought it was 116-112 to Usyk. Just cos Delboy has a great chin and was taking Usyks shots no problem, doesn’t mean they weren’t scoring shots. Fantastic effort from Chisora but I thought Usyk was a clear winner in a hard fight.

    WHYTE’S VIEW
Dillian Whyte, who beat Chisora twice in his career, has had his say on Usyk’s win.
“I didn’t see anything special from Usyk,” he said.
“Derek was following him around – I don’t know what advice he was being given.
“There were no boxers in there [in Chisora’s corner]. It is a joke. Maybe their plan was to survive 12 rounds.
“Usyk can be a force because he has pedigree and is a good mover, but that’s about it.”

    GROVES SCORE
George Groves has given his scorecard for the night… he had Usyk winning easily.

I had it 9-3 Usyk. Felt he took his foot off the gas when he didn’t get Chisora out of there after the big 7th round. Waited for the last onslaught from Chisora to come and pass but didn’t fancy pushing for an early finish.. great win none the less!

    BELLEW SPEAKS
“Derek put in a fantastic performance. He forced the pace, got right stuck in,” he said.
“I’m not going to say the word robbery because that’s ridiculous. But it was a close fight.
“I know Usyk is by far the better boxer and get hit twice the amount. The output outweighs boxing sometimes.
“I think Usyk went in there with a point to prove, he showed he can take a punch, he hurt Chisora. But Chisora outworked Usyk.”

    RESPECT
Both sides were all respect at the end of the fight, Usyk rates his performance as 3/10. Chisora thought he won.

    CHISORA SPEAKS
“Yeah, 100 per cent I won that fight. I was pushing the pace but the judges saw it different. I’m just disappointed,” he said.
“It’s the fight game, he took shots, everyone can. I’m basically gutted. I’ll make Hayemaker go for the rematch.
“Eddie’s not here, I’d be having a go at him.
“I’m just gutted for myself, everyone stay safe, we’ll go back to normal soon.
“I gave a couple of rounds away, 100 per cent. It’s boxing, there has to be one loser, one winner. I’m gutted, you don’t understand.”

    USYK VS JOSHUA?
“My plan is to go home, spend time with family and train,” he says after being asked about an Anthony Joshua fight.
He’s now Joshua’s WBO world title mandatory challenger.
“Absolutely, I want to be undisputed. Not just world champion. Undisputed world champion.”

    ACTION SHOTS
