Mike Tyson reveals Roy Jones Jr fight will NOT be a one-off and he wants to ‘box all over the world’

MIKE TYSON says he is ready to fight ‘all around the world’ after his sensational boxing comeback against Roy Jones Jr.
The two Americans will clash on November 28 in an eight-round exhibition fight in Los Angeles.

But Tyson is already looking ahead, and doesn’t plan on making the Jones Jr battle his final taste of the sport he dominated for years.
Speaking to ESPN, the 54-year-old said: “I don’t know. I might do this for a while. Let’s check this stuff out.
“It would be so awesome if we could do this all around the world and fight the best fighter in that country.
“Exhibitions with this guy in that country, exhibitions all over the world. Wouldn’t that be great?”

Iron Mike has shown off a scintilalting body transformation as he prepares for his scrap against a fellow boxing legend.
Tyson has been regularly sharing training clips and recently revealed he FIRES sparring partners who don’t ‘kick his ass’ in the sessions.
And after months of teasing a grand return to boxing, it was finally announced he would fight fellow former world, champ Jones Jr.
Tyson added: “I wanted to fight a four-round exhibition, next thing I know, I’m fighting Roy Jones, it’s eight rounds and I got three judges and I got a belt involved.

“Now you tell me, is this an exhibition? You tell me. What the f*** is going on? I want an exhibition, now I got a belt involved. C’mon, man.”
However that ‘belt’ will be more a ‘commemorative strap’ with the WBC deciding againt the victor walking out with the Front Line Battle Belt.
Tyson returns to the ring for the first time in 15 years when he faces Jones, 51.
The heavyweight icon has spent his comeback with MMA coach Rafael Cordeiro, where he has dramatically transformed his body.
Tyson’s decision to fight again has inspired other retired legends to do the same.
Oscar De La Hoya, now a promoter, is rumoured to be making a comeback against Marcos Maidana.

Deontay Wilder ‘trying to FORCE Tyson Fury into trilogy fight after initiating dispute resolution clause in contract’

DEONTAY WILDER has reportedly initiated a dispute resolution clause in his contract as he attempts to force Tyson Fury into a trilogy bout.
The Gypsy King announced last month that he has ‘moved on’ from facing the Bronze Bomber for a third time after the American’s team failed to agree on a date.

It was then stated that the Bronze Bomber’s contractual right to face the WBC heavyweight champion had expired – allowing Fury to fight Anthony Joshua in 2021.
Fury, 32, is currently preparing for his homecoming bout in England on December 5 – with the unbeaten boxer in talks to face European cham Agit Kabayel.
However those plans have been thrown into jeopardy, as The Athletic claim that Wilder, 35, is attempting to enforce a third meeting inside the ring through mediation.
It has been reported that a retired judge will act as mediator where he will review the contracts that were signed for their February 22 rematch.

Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel told the news outlet: “We’re going into it very optimistically this week.”
The planned third fight between the pair was set to take place in October, only for the dust-up to be pushed back as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
Their fight was then scheduled for December, but once again it had to be postponed until 2021, with Fury not willing to wait around as he looks to remain active.
Top Rank have insisted that following the failed December scrap, they no longer have any obligation to arrange the trilogy.

Earlier this month, Wilder accused Fury of ‘cheating’ in their rematch in a controversial video he posted on social media.
He then declared that his water had been spiked just before their second meeting, which he claimed weakened his legs.
Fury has hit out at the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist for his bad sportsmanship, as he revealed he believes his rival has ‘lost his marbles’.

Canelo Alvarez in talks with Eddie Hearn to face Callum Smith or John Ryder in December as Caleb Plant fight collapses

CANELO ALVAREZ has entered talks with Eddie Hearn to face Callum Smith or John Ryder in December as a Caleb Plant fight collapsed.
The Mexican star is now a free agent having terminated his contract with Golden Boy Promotions and DAZN.

But he could still end up fighting on the streaming service having started negotiations with Hearn, who has a partnership with DAZN.
With Canelo now looking unlikely to challenge IBF super-middleweight champion Plant, he has turned his attention elsewhere.
According to Hearn, Alvarez’s manager and trainer Eddy Reynoso indicated Smith, Plant, Billy Joe Saunders and Gennady Golovkin are among the names they want to fight.
And with the promoter working with Smith, Saunders and Golovkin, he has several opportunities to set Canelo up with a ring return by the end of 2020.

Hearn told Boxing Social: “I think he wants to fight in December.
“Myself and everybody else have had a conversation with Eddy Reynoso, and we’ll pitch like everybody else.
“And I think he’s made it quite clear that whether to jump into anything now, it’s just, ‘Who’s got what for December?’ and we’ll move on to the next one.
“So in that respect, we’ll be in a good position because we do have the biggest budget on boxing, but we just got to make it count when we spend that type of money.

The latest Ring Magazine P4P rankings

“I’m speaking with Eddy, and Eddy wants to fight Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith, Caleb Plant, and Gennady Golovkin.
“Three of those are with DAZN, and the other is with PBC. Nothing changes.
“Canelo still wants to fight Billy Joe, Callum, and Gennady. We’ve just got to make sure the deal is right.”
Alvarez, 30, has not fought since he jumped up to light-heavyweight last November to win the WBO belt against Sergey Kovalev.
He was due to fight Saunders, 31, this summer, but the coronavirus pandemic cancelled the headliner.

Ever since, Canelo has been in dispute with his promoter and DAZN as he looked for his next opponent.
Arguments were said to have been caused after Alvarez snubbed a trilogy with GGG, despite DAZN believing they were promised the fight.
But Hearn still tipped Canelo to share the ring with his great rival one more time.
He said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Canelo fights on DAZN next, and I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if he boxes on DAZN in May against GGG.
“Financially, that’s the biggest fight out there. I think Canelo is doing it smart right now.”

Luis Ortiz fix claims as boxing chiefs withhold Flores’ £71k purse and order him to explain ‘unusual’ 45-second KO loss

BOXING chiefs have withheld Alexander Flores’ £71,000 purse and demanded an explanation after his ‘unusual’ 45 second KO defeat to Luis Ortiz on Saturday.
The heavyweight hit the canvas, despite contact appearing minimal, with the ref waving it off after Flores failed to recover within the ten count.

Boxing chiefs have demanded an explanation from the heavyweight journeymanCredit: Sean Michael Ham

And the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) are now investigating the suspicious result.
CSAC executive director Andy Foster told The Athletic the purse had been stopped due to the ‘unusual nature of the fight being stopped’.
And he added: “It’s really rare, we hardly ever do this.
“I want to be very clear that all we’re doing is taking some time to review it.

“We’re not saying (he) did anything wrong at all.
“We need to take a look at this a little more than we have because (the conclusion) raised some questions.
    “We just need more information.”
Flores, 30, will now be required to attend a hearing after Foster consulted the ringside doctor, the referee and a commission member after the fight at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Despite the apparent lack of contact in the immediate build up to Flores’ collapse, he did swallow two huge left handers in the opening seconds of the fight.
Ortiz, 41, is a renowned heavy hitter and many had already billed the contest as a mismatch before the fight.
It was Ortiz’s first fight since his defeat to Deontay Wilder in November 2019.
If the result stands, he will boast an impressive record of 32-2 including 27 knockouts.
And he is edging closer to a fight with Tyson Fury as a result.
The loss will be Flores’ third of his career if it is ratified.

The 22-year-old batters McGoldrick into the canvas again and he takes another eight count.

A reall one-sided and virtually inhumane pasting for McGoldrick who had been in a real war less than half hour earlier.

    ROUND ONE
    McGoldrick down in the first.
Chelli crashed in around a dozen savage right hands and, even though McGoldrick caught most of them on his high huard, they must have rattled his skull around.

The ex-MMA fighter just scored three knockdowns inside one whirlwind BOXXER round.
Muma Mweemba was thankfully stopped after the third and most brutal decking.
Marku is now 7-0 and must be close to a high-profile opponent soon…

    BLINK – MISSED IT
Mweemba is getting oxygen in his corner as that Marku performance was utterly breathless.
Marku’s shots sounded so thunderous but Mweemba seemed to be blocking them early on.
A looping body shot was the first knockdown, a second swiftly followed after another blitz attack but Mweemba told his corner he was fine.
The third was a vicious left hook that crumpled Mweemba into the blue corner.
Marku has been calling high-profile welterweights like Conor Benn for a while, will this seventh win help?

    ROUND ONE – ALL OVER!
Sheffield based Mweemba starts the fight with a 4-1 record.

Massive KO win for Florian Marku.

    MARK-ED MAN
Albanian welterweight ace Florian Marku up against Muma Mweemba now.
Marku appears to be wearing a tradition Balkan-style hat to the ring, not the sort of thing I could get away with.
Hats, sunglasses and bumbags a real no-no for a man with my figure. Shame really cos all three usually look great together.

    VERDICT
Zak Chelli should win the final easy as he will have had the longest rest?

Great fight! This is Chelli’s tournament now. Tough semi final with a short rest for Mcgoldrick
    Great show!! @ultimateboxxer

Young Harry Woods will come again after that close encounter.
Mike McGoldrick just a bit to wise and sharp when it mattered.

    FINAL REVEALED
Red-hot favourite Zak Chelli will face Mike McGoldrick next after the judges scored it 29-28, 30-27 and 29-28 all against Harry Woods.
A brilliant fight that should boost both men into bigger fights.
    Should Chelli be worried?

    BANGING BOXXERS
You couldn’t get a fag paper between Mike McGoldrick and Harry Woods during those three rounds.
The rock-hard super-middles met in the centre of the ring, locked horns and slugged it out…

    ROUND THREE
    Brilliant dogged Mexican-style fighting here.
Woods and McGoldrick like conjoined twins, stuck at the chest, slashing away and bludgeoning each other.
head to body, body to head, a crisp jab from McGoldrick is the first straight shot to score for yonks.
Woods throws a looping left hook and falls over. Thrilling end to the fight.

Luke Campbell forced out of Ryan Garcia fight after testing positive for coronavirus, confirms Eddie Hearn

LUKE CAMPBELL has tested positive for coronavirus and been forced out of his fight with Ryan Garcia.
Hull’s 2012 Olympic golden boy and lightweight ace was due to fly to America to face the red-hot 22-year-old prospect on December 5.

Luke Campbell has been forced out of his fight with Ryan Garcia after testing positive for coronavirusCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd

Unfortunately @luke11campbell tested positive for Covid 19. He has completed isolation and resumes training shortly but will not be fit for Dec 5. We are working on a new date with @GoldenBoyBoxing and @DAZNBoxing and only anticipate a very short delay to this great fight.
    — Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) November 10, 2020

But he was left with another battle instead against Covid-19 as his Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the news.
He tweeted: “Unfortunately @luke11campbell tested positive for Covid 19. He has completed isolation and resumes training shortly but will not be fit for Dec 5.”
The spiteful showdown was supposed to finally launch DAZN in the UK.
The London-based streaming service was due to hold the bout in the middle of the West Coast afternoon so British fans could tune in at 11pm instead of the usual Sunday dawn.

And, unlike the Premier League clubs milking fans for £14.95-per-game, DAZN will roll out an introductory £1.99-a-month plan.
But Hearn insists the clash is just postponed instead of off completely.
He added: “We are working on a new date with @GoldenBoyBoxing and @DAZNBoxing and only anticipate a very short delay to this great fight.”
Campbell is believed to have now recovered and is out of isolation.

However, the fortnight off from training has hit his preparation hard and left him with no option but to withdraw from the bout.
Garcia is the latest Mexican-American ace to gain huge popularity – including 6.6m Instagram followers – through his Hollywood smile and teeth-smashing fists.
The wonderkid is already 20-0 – with 17 inside the distance – and has vowed to walk through Campbell, newly-crowned undisputed champ Teofimo Lopez and fellow sensation Devin Haney.
But Campbell has other ideas, saying: “Garcia has speed and power and a lot of social media fame. But he also looks like he could take a good beating.
“I still feel like a fresh up-and-comer but I am also ready to be the boogieman for these new kids on the block.
“I feel I am the toughest fight for all of these guys.”

Meet Florian Marku – The Albanian welterweight sensation with Premier League star fan in Xherdan Shaqiri and MMA power

FLORIAN MARKU is taking one of the biggest risks of British boxing’s behind-closed-doors age by fighting without his super-dedicated fans
Last year the 28-year-old Albania welterweight sold out London’s iconic 1200-seater York Hall single-handed and lured 800 fans to the O2 for a late-afternoon four-rounder, including two diehard foreign followers.

Florian Marku has only won six professional boxing fights but has thousands of fansCredit: Jamie McPhilimey – The Sun

Through shared Balkan heritage, the decorated former MMA fighter had Liverpool ace Xherdan Shaqiri ringside that July night in Greenwich and is close pals with Arsenal star Granit Xhaka, the 6-0 ace even keeps fit alongside the Gunners and Switzerland midfielder.
Sadly none of Marku’s incredible support can be at the BT Sport studios on Tuesday night to see him fight Muma Mweemba on the Boxxer – formerly known as Ultimate Boxxer – show where he risks his growing reputation without a windfall of ticket sales.
Marku told SunSport: “For UK fans I am new but in Albania, Greece, Austria and all across Europe, I have a lot of fans because I have had over 100 kickboxing and MMA fights, won three world titles and went 10 years without losing.

Boxxer welterweight Florian Marku is a former MMA fighterCredit: Jamie McPhilimey – The Sun
“I sold around 800 tickets for the O2 show in July 2019, but I only really know 20 of them who are friends and family. The rest are fans I have probably never met, I even had two guys fly in from Australia.

“Xherdan Shaqiri is a friend of mine, he was one of the people the O2 for my fight. Granit Xhaka and Shkrodan Mustafi are also friends of mine because, the great thing about us Albanians is, we stay in contact with each other all over the world.

Xhaka and Shaqiri both play football for Switzerland, after their parents fled their war-torn the region for a safety there a decade ago, much like Marku’s.
The three enjoy a strong bond that Marku says it typical for the rebuilding nation and he won’t even betray any training secrets about gym-buddy Xhaka.
He said: “Granit trains with the same strength and conditioning coach as me.

“I can’t say who is strongest, I don’t want to say, we are friends and he is a very good guy!
“I am not really a football fan, I only go and watch their matches when they invite me.
“A lot of Albanians have come here and have been unable to go home, so when they see someone from their country they want to really support the guy.
“In Albania and Kosovo we had very bad wars and everything was a real mess, things have been quiet for the last 10 years but we are still poor counties.
“Things are getting better all the time but we still produce very tough men because of what our parents and grandparents have been through.”

SunSport spoke to Florian Marku at his Bushey gym about his incredible supportCredit: Jamie McPhilimey – The Sun
Marku moved to Greece aged four, when the Albanian government collapsed and his father was sick of seeing abandoned guns readily available on the streets.
There he started his fight career before clinching multiple titles, the WKU kickboxing gold his favourite title, and then going on the road for fights in Austria before reaching the UK and turning pro as a boxer last year.
After packing out the iconic Bethnal Green venue, Frank Warren snapped him up for the undercard of Daniel Dubois’ brilliant British heavyweight title win over Nathan Gorman, and he stopped Tommy Broadbent in the final round.
Boxxer spotted his potential and this week will be his third fight for the rebranded and growing British promotion that Marku wants to become the star of.

He said: “I do not want to fight journeymen, if I am good then I will prove it and if I am not I will go home and do something else.
“Luan Krasniqi has been Albanian’s greatest ever boxing so far, he boxed Lamont Brewster, who beat Wladimir Klitschko and beat England’s Julius Francis.
“But we have never had a world champion. I believe that will be me. Boxxer is on television and I believe it will help me on my way to achieve my dream.”
