Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: UK start time, date, TV channel, live stream, undercard, rules as legends do battle

BOXING icons Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will do battle in a spectacular exhibition fight.
The 54-year-old Tyson will face Jones, 51, in a long-awaited bout, with the Baddest Man on the Planet dropping an incredible SIX stone to get in shape.

How Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr match up

The California State Commission say the exhibition bout will be fought under the rules that both men will not look for the knock-out and will instead “exhibit” their skills, but both fighters have come out and said the contrary.
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The big fight is now set for Thanksgiving Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It was originally set to take place on September 12 but the event has been postponed until later in the year.
The undercard is expected to start at 9pm ET which is 1am GMT and the main event will follow between 4am and 5am GMT.
The legends are set to eight rounds in the ring, with Youtube star Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson confirmed for the undercard.

What live stream and TV channel is Tyson vs Jones Jr on?
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK.
Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight.
Emmy-winner Mario Lopez hosts the show, and musical acts will be announced for performances too.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?
YouTuber Jake Paul leads the way on the four-fight card when he takes on ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.
Elsewhere KSI’s trainer Viddal Riley is also in action as is former super-middleweight champion Badou Jack.

    Viddal Riley vs Rashad Coulter

What are the rules of the fight?
The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds.

No headguards will be worn but the fighters will be wearing larger 12-ounce gloves.
Technically the fight can only be stopped if there is a knock-out, but California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Forster said he will stop it as soon as a cut appears.
Forster said: “Tyson and Jones Jr. won’t be wearing headgear for the fight. They’ll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won’t be any judges present at the fight to score the action. So, technically, there won’t be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs, or either fighter is deemed unfit to continue.
“They can move around and make some money, but I told them if you get cut, it’s over.”

Roy Jones Jr, 51, last fought only two years ago
    What have they said?
Mike Tyson: “We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones Jr: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy. He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me. I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.” More

Kell Brook can steal Manny Pacquiao fight in Qatar from Terence Crawford if he pulls off upset, says promoter Bob Arum

KELL BROOK can steal a fight against Manny Pacquiao in Qatar away from Terence Crawford if he pulls off an upset, revealed Bob Arum.

But the pound-for-pound star did have a deal in place to unify his WBO belt with Pacquiao’s WBA version – only for the coronavirus pandemic to KO the clash.
Instead, he will return to face Brook, 34, live on Premier Sports, and a win clears him to revive talks to fight Pacquiao, 41, next spring.
But if Crawford, 33, suffers a catastrophic first loss, Brook is in line to become the first man since Ricky Hatton in 2009 to take on Filipino icon PacMan.
Legendary promoter Arum told SunSport: “We tried to match Terence with Manny Pacquiao, that fight was going to be held in Qatar in November.

“But then the minister of health there said we couldn’t get a gate because of Covid and it was too dangerous, so that fight disappeared.
“We were then in touch with Brook’s people, and I was reluctant to some extent to make the match because Brook is a really big welterweight and Terence is a small welterweight.
“He came up from lightweight, then light-welterweight and Terence will give away a big, big, size advantage and Brook is a very accomplished fighter.

“I think this is a really competitive fight and if Terence doesn’t watch out, Brook is going to roll right over him, as Brook is very confident going into this.

“And if he’s successful with Terence, maybe I’ll make Brook with Manny.”
Arum is hopeful he can re-start negotiations for Pacquiao to fight Crawford in the Middle East should the three-weight champion see off Brook.
He said: “We had it done for November with the top officials in Qatar but the health minister quashed it because of Covid and quite correctly.
“They said let’s re-visit it for next year in the spring.”
If not, Arum will look to match Crawford up against the division’s other unbeaten champion, Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford and Spence have long rivalled each other
Spence, 30, defends his unified WBC and IBF belts agains Danny Garcia, 32, on December 5.
The fight will be in front of a limited number of fans at the Dallas Cowboys’ 105,000 seater AT&T Stadium.
But Arum warns until full capacities return, it could keep superstars Spence and Crawford separated.
He said: “If we can resurrect the Qatar deal for the spring but if not, if Spence is successful against Garcia we’ll try do that fight with PBC.
“But here’s the problem, if the coronavirus hasn’t gone away, it’s hard to do that fight without a big gate and without people back to work to afford to pay the pay-per-view.”

Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith tale of the tape as blockbuster super-middleweight fight ‘AGREED for December’

SAUL ‘CANELO’ ALVAREZ and Callum Smith have agreed terms for a super-middleweight fight in December, according to reports.
The Mexican is preparing for his return to the ring after he was was released from his contract with Golden Boy Promotions and his record £278million deal with DAZN.

Here’s how the two fighters compare ahead of the showdown

He has not fought since he jumped up to light-heavyweight last November to win the WBO belt against Sergey Kovalev.
But ESPN claim he has agreed terms to fight No1 ranked super-middleweight Smith next month.
An exact date is yet to be confirmed but all eyes are pointing towards December 19.
The incredible AT&T Stadium in Texas is believed to be the most likely venue.

Canelo enters the bout with an incredible record of 53-1-2 including 36 knockouts.
He has beaten the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin, Rocky Fielding, Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto.
The only man to beat the four-division world champion is Floyd Mayweather.
But Smith, who towers over Canelo at 6′ 3″, will be hoping to cause an upset.

Meet Kell Brook’s stand-in trainer Carlos Formento who he met on Instagram and will shape him for Terence Crawford bout

KELL BROOK will attempt to upset Terence Crawford as a ‘monster with self-belief’ who is guided by a new trainer he met on Instagram.
Sheffield’s former welterweight world champion takes his mission to reclaim gold Stateside, fighting pound-for-pound star Crawford.

But he will do so without the help of his lifelong trainer Brendan Ingle or regular promoter Eddie Hearn.
Brook – who usually spent time training in Fuerteventura with Ingle – has returned to Spain, but to instead work with Carlos Formento.
He followed Formento on social media, and suggested they link up ahead of his mammoth challenge against Crawford.
Brook, 34, told BBC Sport: “He’s a guy I followed on Instagram because I like his style.

“I had never worked with him previously because Dominic is my trainer number one.
“I messaged him on Instagram and basically said ‘let’s work together’.
“The first day, I knew that we gelled unbelievably. He is basically obsessed. He is passionate. And that’s everything I need in this fight.”
Brook will step back down to welterweight for the first time since losing the IBF belt to Errol Spence Jr, 30, in 2017.

His last three fights have all been wins at light-middleweight.
But he is confident in shrinking back down to 147lb to take on Crawford, 33, who is unbeaten in 36 fights but began his career as a lightweight.
Brook explained: “I’ve got to applaud Terence Crawford for taking this fight, because he is in there with a monster with self-belief.
“He is one hell of a fighter but a smaller man naturally to me. I’m a dangerous man, a big welterweight and a force to be reckoned with.”
“Everybody has been writing me off. I’m going against everyone. This fight is for me. Nobody else bar me.”

Mike Tyson tells Deontay Wilder to get his ‘head out of his butt’ and to stop making excuses for Tyson Fury defeat

MIKE TYSON has urged Deontay Wilder to get his ‘head out of his butt’ and stop making excuses for losing to Tyson Fury.
Wilder was emphatically dethroned of the WBC belt by Fury in February, and later gave several reasons to desperately explain the result.

Iron Mike told Wilder to stop feeling sorry for himself

But Iron Mike told the beaten heavyweight to stop feeling sorry for himself and let his fists do the talking in an attempt to revive his career.
Tyson, 54, told ESPN: “When Wilder gets his head out of his butt, he’s good. Wilder’s just gotta stop internalising stuff, this guy is great.
“Just keep on fighting. Fight [Fury] again – fight him a third time. Whenever you have an opportunity to fight for the title, he should fight.
“We can only do this for a certain amount of time in our life, and then we can’t do it anymore.

“So we have to do it as much as we can before we end this stuff.”
Right after Wilder’s comprehensive seven round stoppage, the American blamed the defeat on the 45lb costume he wore on his ring walk.
The 35-year-old then revealed that he needed bicep surgery following an injury.
Fury was also forced to deny ‘bulls***’ claims made by Wilder’s brother Marsellos, who accused the Gypsy King of having a ‘blunt object’ in his gloves.

Then, as Wilder recently broke a long period of silence following his first ever loss, he himself came up with the same elaborate theory.
He accused Fury of ‘cheating’ by having ‘something hard’ in his glove.
That is despite a member of his team and the athletic commission observing Fury having his hands wrapped and gloves fitted before both fights.
Wilder followed it up by later claiming his ‘water was spiked’ which left him with ‘no control’ over his body.
The litany of excuses and accusations were all made with absolutely no evidence provided.
And it leaves Wilder’s reputation in tatters, made worse by the fact Fury, 32, has ditched their trilogy fight.
They were contracted to a third fight as part of the original deal they signed for the February rematch.
But as fans were kept away amid the coronavirus, so was the Bronze Bomber’s chance for revenge.

When Wilder gets his head out of his butt, he’s good. Wilder’s just gotta stop internalising stuff, this guy is great.
    Mike Tyson on Deontay Widler

As a result, the immediate rematch clause expired with Fury instead now set to make his UK homecoming on December 5 against 28-year-old Agit Kabayel.
The fight will act as a tune up for a potential Battle of Britain with Anthony Joshua, 31, who faces Kubrat Pulev, 39, a week after.
Should the heavyweight stars prevail, it sets up a historic undisputed title decider for all four belts.
But Iron Mike Tyson, set to come out of retirement this month against Roy Jones Jr, 51, feels AJ still has a left to learn as champion.
He said: “That guy could learn some more. He could be taught some more stuff.
    “I don’t think he’s a paper champion, I just think he’s a big guy.
“It’s hard to fight being that big; it’s very difficult being that big and having to fight a smaller guy.”

As the reasons and accusations escalated to farcical levels, the Gypsy King revealed he feared for his rival’s wellbeing and offered his support.
But Wilder appears uninterested in the proposal, instead wanting only another fight from Fury.
He tweeted: “Hey @Tyson_Fury , Don’t worry about me I am Fine, Blessed.
“The only thing I want from you is for you to honor your agreement and fight me. I gave you 2 shots when I didn’t have to and it changed your life.

“Now it is time for you to be a man and give me my shot as you agreed to.”

Fury, 32, and Wilder, 35, were contracted to a third fight as part of the original deal they signed following their rematch.
But as fans were kept away amid the coronavirus, so was the Bronze Bomber’s chance for revenge.

The fight will act as a tune up for a potential undisputed title decider with Anthony Joshua, 31, who faces Kubrat Pulev, 39, a week after.
Wilder, left frozen out, reacted furiously and uploaded a video online calling for a trilogy with Fury to be agreed.
But his case was hugely hampered after he accused the Gypsy King of ‘cheating’ by loading ‘something hard’ in his glove for both their bouts.
That is despite a member of his team and the athletic commission observing Fury having his hands wrapped and gloves fitted before both fights.
Wilder followed it up by later claiming his ‘water was spiked’ which left him with ‘no control’ over his body throughout his seven round beating.

The litany of excuses and accusations were all made with absolutely no evidence provided.
And despite appearing deluded by his first ever defeat, Wilder refuses to give up on forcing through a trilogy having now initiated a dispute resolution clause in his contract.
According to The Athletic, the American is attempting to enforce a third meeting inside the ring through mediation.
It has been reported that a retired judge will act as mediator where he will review the contracts that were signed for their February 22 fight.
Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel told the news outlet: “We’re going into it very optimistically this week.”

Terence Crawford wants ‘passing of the torch’ fight with Manny Pacquiao as Filipino icon is ‘last great champion left’

TERENCE CRAWFORD wants a ‘passing of the torch’ fight with Manny Pacquiao – who he believes is ‘the last great champion left’.
WBO champion Crawford is on a mission to unify the welterweight division and cement his place as boxing’s pound-for-pound best.

He reigned as undisputed champion at super-lightweight before moving up in 2018, and wants to take Errol Spence Jr’s WBC and IBF titles.
But more importantly, Crawford is desperate to share the ring with Manny Pacquiao who at 41 is already eyeing retirement.
A win over the Filipino icon would catapult the 33-year-old into superstardom and cement himself as the top attraction at welterweight.
Crawford told SunSport: “He’s the last great champion left.

“Since all the great champions around my weight retired, he’s the only one left and it’s kind of like a passing to the torch.
“Out with the old and in with the new. It would boost me from star to superstar.
“I already feel like I’m a superstar but at the same time it would boost my case that much more by beating the likes of Manny Pacquiao in tremendous fashion.”
Crawford has to firstly beat Britain’s Kell Brook, 34, who he faces this Saturday live on Premier Sports.

Afterwards, his promoter Bob Arum revealed the American is in line to face eight-weight champ Pacquiao, 41, in the Middle East next year.
But level-headed Crawford remains focussed on the task in hand, despite the lure of greater prizes ahead.
Crawford said: “I’ve just got to keep winning these fights, back to back to back to back and works towards becoming undisputed at the welterweight division.”
He trusts the consistency that has got him to 36-0 with titles in three different weight classes will lead him to his dream of undisputed glory.
“That’s the ultimate goal, I want to be labelled and solidified as the greatest welterweight in the world.
“But I need to keep winning in tremendous fashion. Keep my name ringing bells and beating guys like Kell Brook, that’s where it all starts.”

Crawford has won his last seven fights by stoppage, having not been taken to the cards since outpointing Viktor Postol in 2016.
He even knocked out Jose Benavidez Jr with just 18 seconds left on the clock in 2018 in front of his own fans in Omaha.
But Crawford insists he does not feel pressure to close the show out in style despite his 75 per cent KO rate – as he is already at the top of the sport with little to prove.
He explained: “I don’t feel like I have to stop a guy, it’s my nature once I get an opponent hurt I got for the kill.
“But at the same time it doesn’t bother me if I get a unanimous decision or a knockout because on the record it’s all going to be the same, a win for me.
“I think I’m at the highest stage that I can be. It’s about maintaining that.
“It’s easier to get here but harder to stay as you’ve got a lot of young hungry lions trying to dethrone you every time you step in the ring.”

But after Campbell returned a positive Covid-19 test, the fight was forced to be backdated.
But it appears it will only be two weeks, as Garcia promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed the new date.
De La Hoya told The Athletic that the fight is ‘most likely’ going to be rescheduled for December 19.
Garcia, 22, is unbeaten in his 20 fights with 17 knockouts and proving to be a rising star Stateside.

Campbell, an 2012 Olympic gold medalist, has only had three more fights but spent more time in the pro ranks.
And he has also shared the ring with modern greats like Vasiliy Lomachenko and Jorge Linares, losing both times in a well contested points verdict.
The 33-year-old is adamant he will stop the hype train coming out of America and prove too bullish for Garica.

Campbell told Bad Left Hook: “I feel like when I start hitting him, really hurting him, he’s not gonna want to be there, and I will knock him out there.”

“I just believe in me. I believe in what I’ve got, I believe I’m performing better than I’ve ever performed and I’m literally in a fantastic place physically and mentally.
“And I want to go in there and showcase to the world what I can do and what I’ve got and he’s a great opponent to do it against.”
