Love Island star Tommy Fury wants to make boxing family affair by beating Deontay Wilder’s brother in ring like Tyson

TOMMY FURY wants to follow Tyson by having a pop at the Wilder family and battering Deontay’s brother.
Fury watched elder sibling Tyson annihilate the Bronze Bomber in February for the WBC heavyweight crown after their first bout was a draw.

While the trilogy fight hangs in the balance after Tyson got sick of Wilder’s excuses and found a new opponent in Agit Kabayel for December 5, light-heavyweight Tommy – who is set to fight an as-yet unnamed opponent on Friday – is happy to keep the bad blood bubbling by facing Wilder’s cruiserweight sibling Marsellos.
Heart-throb Tommy, 21, said: “I don’t want to look past Friday’s opponent but, if his brother wants the same as Deontay got, then he can get it.
“I see a lot of people tweeting about wanting to fight me but I never saw that before I went into Love Island so I know what they are after.
“If Marsellos Wilder is one of those then I will happily oblige.

“My advice for him would be to keep quiet and stay in America where he can try to help his brother recover from what Tyson did to him, fair and square.”
Fans can see Tommy in action tomorrow night on the undercard of Mark Heffron vs Denzel Bentley live on Friday night, although his opponent is yet to be announced.
The younger Fury stole the hearts of the nation and stunning Molle-Mae Hague in the villa, showing off a mature head on a ripped young body.

The bubble was expected to burst as soon as the young couple got back to rain-soaked Blighty, as Tommy was thrown into the celeb spotlight.

“Love Island was great for me,” he said. “I think anyone of my age and in my position at the time would have gone on the show and done the same thing.
But the heavy-handed ace has only grown in popularity and the 3-0 fighter’s a-list relationship is only going from strength-to-strength too.
“Love Island was a great way to express myself and come out of Tyson’s shadow a little bit.
“Hopefully people see me now as a likeable boy next door who is trying to do the best with his life.”

But any fans that were hoping to catch a glimpse of his girlfriend Molly at Friday’s fight will be disappointed as she revealed she won’t be there due to coronavirus concerns.
She said on social media: “I’m not actually allowed to go to the fight.
“I’m watching it on telly at home. Like it’s going to kill me.
“I’m really really gutted about it like I was so excited to go but Tommy was like you’re not going to be able to come and I literally thought he was joking but that’s how serious this corona stuff is.”

Frank Warren still battling away against coronavirus attack on boxing but promoter insists getting SHOT was worse

FRANK WARREN is still slugging away against Covid-19’s attack on boxing and jokes it’s still not as bad for business as getting shot.
England’s Hall of Fame promoter has lost three fights from his Friday night card to the virus.

But Warren is biting down on his gumshield and marching on with the show.
The main event middleweight clash for the British title between Denzel Bentley and Mark Heffron is safe – as is the return of Tyson Fury’s heartthrob little brother Tommy.
And 68-year-old Warren concedes this is the biggest challenge he has ever faced in the sport – aside from the bullet he couldn’t dodge during back in 1989.
Just over 30 years ago, Warren lost half a lung after being shot by an ‘incompetent lunatic’.

On his 2020 crisis, Warren claimed: “These are unprecedented times and it is a huge shame to lose three great fights.
“I’m obviously gutted for the boys who have worked so hard for this week.
“But I am pleased to see the excellent safety measures implemented by my team and the board are working so effectively.
“I am thankful to our partners at BT for working with us to ensure the event can continue safely.

FRANK WARREN ON BEING SHOT IN 1989

It hurt! It made me jump! It was a surreal moment, it’s not something you were expecting to happen.
I was just getting out of my car in Barking, Colin McMillan was fighting there. I was getting out the car and I heard a bang. I thought it was a car backfiring.
I looked around and I’ve seen somebody standing there holding a gun.
First of all I thought it was a joke, I was looking around and I thought, ‘What’s all this about?’
I could see him shaking a bit, then there was a click and I realised there was another bang and I felt pain in my side.
“What had happened, it had gone in my chest and I was standing at an angle and thankfully it went through my lung – and I lost half a lung – and came out.
A friend of mine, a barrister called John Buttress, he went, ‘What the f*** are you doing?’ And he jumped on him.
I didn’t realise, I suddenly felt this gurgling in my throat and because obviously the blood through my lungs had got into my throat.
And then I was losing my breath, I went down on one knee and then I remember my late uncle Bob coming out and my brother Robert.
They were standing over me, they were helping me and they said, ‘Get a doctor, get a doctor.’
At every show we have doctors and the Boxing Board of Control’s doctor came out. I remember him saying, ‘Have you got a hankerchief?’
I said, ‘Yeah,’ and he said, ‘Hold it on.’
At the time the ambulances were all on strike so the next minute they bundled me into the back of a police van.
They done like a 16-point turn up the curbs and everything.
And they drove me off to the hospital and that was it.
    *Warren was speaking to talkSPORT…

“Fans can look forward to a cracking main event between Mark and Denzel.
“We wish those affected a speedy recovery.
“It’s almost the most difficult time of my career.
“But getting shot was probably a bit more painful for me personally.”

Mike Tyson warns Anthony Joshua he needs to ‘learn more’ about boxing as Brit trains ahead of Kubrat Pulev fight

MIKE TYSON believes that Anthony Joshua needs to ‘learn more’ and is just ‘a big guy’.
The Brit is currently busy preparing for his bout with Kubrat Pulev, as he defends his IBF, WBO and IBO belts against the Bulgarian.

But Tyson, himself preparing for his comeback bout against Roy Jones Jr, has offered a scathing critique of AJ.
Iron Mike, 54, told ESPN: “That guy could learn some more. He could be taught some more stuff.
    “I don’t think he’s a paper champion, I just think he’s a big guy.
“It’s hard to fight being that big; it’s very difficult being that big and having to fight a smaller guy.”

Pictures of Joshua, 31, training show the champ in pristine shape.
But Tyson is a bigger fan of WBC belt holder Tyson Fury.
He said: “I think he’s very good. He looks like he’s not intimidating, but he’s really elusive, he really knows how to box.
“He’s really smart and he’s really difficult to hit, and he’s seven-feet [tall], damn near. He’s a monster.”

Joshua will finally face Pulev, 39, at an empty O2 Arena on December 12.
He is then expected, if victorious, to battle Fury, 32, twice in 2021 as the Brits try and unify the belts.
Tyson, meanwhile, faces Jones Jr at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on November 28.

Tyson Fury to fight Kabeyel on December 5 with Wilder’s chances of trilogy same as ‘Donald Trump changing election’

TYSON FURY is hoping to announce his next fight against Agit Kabeyel on December 5 this week, revealed Bob Arum.
And Deontay Wilder chances of preventing that to receive a trilogy bout are the same as ‘Donald Trump’s in changing the election’.

With Fury deciding cancel their immediate rematch, he is closing in on a UK homecoming, with 20-0 Kabeyel his chosen opponent.
It acts as a tune up for a proposed undisputed title fight with Anthony Joshua who faces Arum’s other heavyweight Kubrat Pulev a week later.
The legendary promoter told SunSport: “It’s my understanding Tyson will defend his title against Agit Kabayel.
“Frank (Warren) will make the announcement hopefully this week.

“It will be shown in the United States on ESPN+ streaming platform on a Saturday which now has 12million subscribers.
“I’m enthused about that and then the plan is, if Tyson wins and Joshua beats Pulev – which is not an easy fight – then we’ll match them sometime in the first six months of next year.
“It will be by far the biggest fight in the history of British boxing.”
Fury, 32, was contracted to a third fight with Wilder, 35, as part of the deal they signed earlier this year.

But with the coronavirus pandemic keeping paying fans away, it also did the same for the Bronze Bomber’s crack at revenge.
After the rematch clause expired, Fury instead walked away from their rivalry to focus on facing Joshua, 31, in a double header next year.
Wilder responded furiously and demanded their trilogy be honoured, and has even initiated a mediation to review his case.
But Arum is not sweating over the dispute, giving the American as much chance as Trump does in overturning his Presidential defeat by Joe Biden.
He said: “Wilder has done that but his chances are the same as Donald Trump’s in changing the election.”

Dillian Whyte accuses Alexander Povetkin of FAKING coronavirus hell to delay rematch as he ‘took a lot of damage’

DILLIAN WHYTE has claimed that Alexander Povetkin did not have coronavirus after their heavyweight rematch was delayed.
The Russian dramatically downed Whyte in August with a stunning uppercut KO.

But any hopes of a 2020 rematch between the pair were ended when Povetkin, 41, was admitted to hospital in early November.
Released this week, the heavyweight’s illness has been called into question by Whyte – who reckons he was simply recovering from the ‘damage’ of their first contest.
The Brit told Sky Sports: “I personally don’t think he’s got Covid.
“I think he just needed more time to get ready, because he took a lot of damage in the first fight.

“After the first fight, he took a lot of time off.
“Even though I got stopped, I went straight back to training and I got straight back on it.”
Whyte, 32, had won his previous 11 fights before the defeat to Povektin.
Ahead of the rematch, he has insisted he is happy to ‘keep improving’ in the training ring.

Povetkin’s promoter Andrey Ryabinskiy hit back at Whyte’s comments and stated that he is willing to release official medical documents proving his man’s infection.
He asserted: “There are so many different opinions. Let’s not listen to opinions, but be guided by facts and make decisions.
“The facts are simple – [Alexander] got coronavirus, and we were forced to postpone the fight. This can happen to any athlete.
“He was in the hospital, we have all the documents at hand. If Eddie Hearn has any question of this kind, I am ready to submit all these documents.
“Obviously, it is more profitable for us to have a rematch with Whyte after his defeat as soon as possible.”
Ryabinskiy has confirmed that Povetkin is being treated at home and may take a while to fully recover from coronavirus.
He added: “He had a rather difficult form of coronavirus, but he passed this crisis period, the doctors put him back on his feet.
“He is now feeling well, no complications have been identified.

“At the moment, his main task is to restore health and return to the necessary physical shape.”
Whyte’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has told the heavyweight to remain calm in the face of the delay – unless Tyson Fury comes calling.
A preliminary date of January 30 has been set for the rematch although Povetkin’s camp are as yet unwilling to rubberstamp the schedule.
Hearn told reporters last week: “I said to Dillian, ‘Unless we get asked to fight Tyson Fury, you’ve just got to wait until January 30’.”

Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: UK start time, date, TV channel, live stream, undercard, rules as legends do battle

BOXING icons Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will do battle in a spectacular exhibition fight.
The 54-year-old Tyson will face Jones, 51, in a long-awaited bout, with the Baddest Man on the Planet dropping an incredible SIX stone to get in shape.

How Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr match up

The California State Commission say the exhibition bout will be fought under the rules that both men will not look for the knock-out and will instead “exhibit” their skills, but both fighters have come out and said the contrary.
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The big fight is now set for Thanksgiving Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It was originally set to take place on September 12 but the event has been postponed until later in the year.
The undercard is expected to start at 9pm ET which is 1am GMT and the main event will follow between 4am and 5am GMT.
The legends are set to eight rounds in the ring, with Youtube star Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson confirmed for the undercard.

What live stream and TV channel is Tyson vs Jones Jr on?
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK.
Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight.
Emmy-winner Mario Lopez hosts the show, and musical acts will be announced for performances too.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?
YouTuber Jake Paul leads the way on the four-fight card when he takes on ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.
Elsewhere KSI’s trainer Viddal Riley is also in action as is former super-middleweight champion Badou Jack.
    Tyson vs Jones Jr
    Badou Jack vs Blake McKernan
    Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson
    Viddal Riley vs Rashad Coulter

What are the rules of the fight?
The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds.

No headguards will be worn but the fighters will be wearing larger 12-ounce gloves.
Technically the fight can only be stopped if there is a knock-out, but California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Forster said he will stop it as soon as a cut appears.
Forster said: “Tyson and Jones Jr. won’t be wearing headgear for the fight. They’ll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won’t be any judges present at the fight to score the action. So, technically, there won’t be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs, or either fighter is deemed unfit to continue.
“They can move around and make some money, but I told them if you get cut, it’s over.”

Roy Jones Jr, 51, last fought only two years ago
    What have they said?
Mike Tyson: “We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones Jr: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy. He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me. I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.” More

Kell Brook can steal Manny Pacquiao fight in Qatar from Terence Crawford if he pulls off upset, says promoter Bob Arum

KELL BROOK can steal a fight against Manny Pacquiao in Qatar away from Terence Crawford if he pulls off an upset, revealed Bob Arum.

But the pound-for-pound star did have a deal in place to unify his WBO belt with Pacquiao’s WBA version – only for the coronavirus pandemic to KO the clash.
Instead, he will return to face Brook, 34, live on Premier Sports, and a win clears him to revive talks to fight Pacquiao, 41, next spring.
But if Crawford, 33, suffers a catastrophic first loss, Brook is in line to become the first man since Ricky Hatton in 2009 to take on Filipino icon PacMan.
Legendary promoter Arum told SunSport: “We tried to match Terence with Manny Pacquiao, that fight was going to be held in Qatar in November.

“But then the minister of health there said we couldn’t get a gate because of Covid and it was too dangerous, so that fight disappeared.
“We were then in touch with Brook’s people, and I was reluctant to some extent to make the match because Brook is a really big welterweight and Terence is a small welterweight.
“He came up from lightweight, then light-welterweight and Terence will give away a big, big, size advantage and Brook is a very accomplished fighter.

“I think this is a really competitive fight and if Terence doesn’t watch out, Brook is going to roll right over him, as Brook is very confident going into this.

“And if he’s successful with Terence, maybe I’ll make Brook with Manny.”
Arum is hopeful he can re-start negotiations for Pacquiao to fight Crawford in the Middle East should the three-weight champion see off Brook.
He said: “We had it done for November with the top officials in Qatar but the health minister quashed it because of Covid and quite correctly.
“They said let’s re-visit it for next year in the spring.”
If not, Arum will look to match Crawford up against the division’s other unbeaten champion, Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford and Spence have long rivalled each other
Spence, 30, defends his unified WBC and IBF belts agains Danny Garcia, 32, on December 5.
The fight will be in front of a limited number of fans at the Dallas Cowboys’ 105,000 seater AT&T Stadium.
But Arum warns until full capacities return, it could keep superstars Spence and Crawford separated.
He said: “If we can resurrect the Qatar deal for the spring but if not, if Spence is successful against Garcia we’ll try do that fight with PBC.
“But here’s the problem, if the coronavirus hasn’t gone away, it’s hard to do that fight without a big gate and without people back to work to afford to pay the pay-per-view.”
