Conor Benn breaks down in tears just days before fight with Eddie Hearn fearing pressure of legend dad Nigel’s shadow

CONOR BENN’S pre-fight tears have Eddie Hearn worried but he believes the son of fight legend Nigel can ease the emotion by stepping out of dad’s shadow.
The 24-year-old broke down in a Sky Sports interview on Wednesday, when he explained how moving to England as a teenager to chase his dream had cost him crucial moments with his family.

    — Sky Sports Boxing (@SkySportsBoxing) November 19, 2020

The 16-0 welterweight revealed he is haunted when weak internet connection stops him from wishing his little sister a happy birthday or helping her grow up without him.
Before Saturday night’s step-up clash with 22-1 Sebastian Formella, Hearn admitted the waterworks were not ideal but they could help him s-weep through the 147lbs division.
“Getting emotional before a fight, like that, is never a great sign and part of that could be to do with the pressure,” Hearn told SunSport.
“But people don’t realise that he left his home in Australia to come here on his own, as a kid, to try to make it as a fighter.

“People rarely realise the sort of sacrifices fighters have to make.
“I have had it myself where people think ‘you’ve got a famous and successful dad, it’s bloody easy for you’.
“Yes Conor did walk in to a promotional deal with us but that brings with it huge pressure to create your own name.
“I think maybe we saw that a little bit in that video clip.”

Benn, who is expecting his first baby at the start of next year, tried to land a shot at the British title but he could not agree a deal with reigning champ Chris Jenkins.
Instead he has leaped into a dangerous fight with an experienced 33-year-old German, flanked by a five-man team, that Hearn admits is a leap into the unknown.
He said: “Formella has not turned up here to lose, he is here with a massive and expensive team, not the usual one trainer or dad who comes over to save money.
“Formella is here because he believes he can come and upset Conor, because there is massive pressure on Conor, like there always has been.
“It’s a very nervous time now because we think Conor is good enough and  he is ready but he has never boxed anyone at this level to confirm it.
“But his trainer Tony Sims, in particular, has seen everything he has done in the gym and he is sure he is ready.”

Floyd Mayweather ‘deserves some easy fights for big money’ amid return in Japan and Logan Paul call out, says Badou Jack

FLOYD MAYWEATHER ‘deserves to get some easy fights’ for ‘big money’ amid his impending return to boxing, Badou Jack said.

He did fight a year later in a Tokyo exhibition bout against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
And he is ready to do it all over again after announcing he will come back to Japan in 2021 for another spectacle fight.
But before that, the 43-year-old is even ready for a complete mismatch against YouTuber Logan Paul.
Having achieved it all in boxing, Mayweather is free to do as he pleases in retirement, according to Jack, who is signed to the legend’s promotional stable.

He told SunSport: “He did it all in boxing, he doesn’t need to prove anything in boxing.
“Now he’s just doing some exhibitions to make some more money, why not?
“He’s one of the greatest, he deserves to get some easy fights for some big money.
Paul, 25, caught Mayweather’s attention after promising he would ‘snap the f***er in half’.

And the five-weight champion tweeted to confirm he would face the social media star before returning to the Far East.
Mayweather has spent the last year training and coaching in his Las Vegas gym, opening the door for a comeback.
Jack, who won titles at super-middleweight and light-heavyweight, has been working alongside his promoter since 2011.
And he has been on hand to witness Mayweather’s extreme and unorthodox training methods – which included 4am training sessions.
Jack, 37, said: “I’ve been training with him since 2011 and been in all his training camps.
“He’ll do training sessions lasting hours, go into the locker rooms, talks some s*** and then after that he’ll run like six miles.
“He’s a real workaholic. Nobody works harder than him. He trains some crazy times.
“I’m not sparring with him but we’d get a call in the middle of the night and he’ll say ‘Get to the gym, we’re working out’.”

After the death of Mayweather’s uncle and ex-trainer Roger in March, it inspired the former pay-per-view king to turn his hand to training.
He has since spent time guiding his proteges Devin Haney, 22, and Gervonta Davis, 25 as well as offering to do the same to Deontay Wilder, 35.
Jack himself has recently hired a new trainer, Johnathon Banks, who helped guide Wladimir Klitschkko’s career.
And they are preparing to face Blake McKernan on Mike Tyson’s comeback undercard next weekend.
Afterwards, Jack plans to link up with Mayweather for a personal masterclass.
He revealed: “Floyd said he wants to hold some mitts for me and stuff but I’ve been kind of busy adjusting to my new trainer.
“But I am going to do some rounds with Floyd, just not yet. ”
“I’m in great shape, I got a new trainer, Jonathan Banks, and we’re working on a lot of adjustments, throwing more punches etc.”

Who is Mike Tyson’s wife Lakiha Spicer, and does boxing legend have kids with her?

MIKE TYSON is set to make a dramatic return to the boxing ring in a clash of the titans with Roy Jones Jr.
‘Iron’ Mike hasn’t been in the squared circle since his knockout loss to Kevin McBride back in 2005, while Jones only stopped boxing two years ago.

Their upcoming clash has been met with criticism from some corners of the boxing world, but for the fight to go ahead, Tyson would’ve asked for approval from his tight-knit family.
His wife Lakiha Spicer has been side by Tyson’s side for most of his post-fighting career, but for the first time in her life, she’ll experience her husband in action next week.
Who is Lakiha Spicer and how old is she?
Lakiha, or Kiki, as she’s known, met Tyson met Tyson when she was just 18 years old after promoter Don King introduced the pair to each other after one of his fights.
They didn’t marry, however, until 2009, not long after they started dating.

The pair tied the knot at a private ceremony at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel.
Kiki was born in 1977 and in 2008 was sentenced to six months in prison after defrauding £60,000 from a company owned by her father.

Spicer went into prison pregnant with Tyson’s baby before coming out and finding the former world heavyweight champ addicted to drugs.
She managed to wean Tyson off his addictions, however – something he credits her with.

“I’m very happy me and my wife got together, because I don’t know how I would have survived out there”, he told US magazine People.
And despite various rumblings about strains in their marriage, Tyson and Kiki have remained together ever since.
    Do they have kids together?
Tyson and Kiki have two children, a daughter named Milan, 12, and a son called Morocco, 9.
The 54-year-old also has other children with different women.

Tyson has 30-year-old Mikey Lorna, 24-year-old Rayna, 22-year-old Amir, 18-year-old Miguel.
The former WBC world champ was also married to Robin Givens and Monica Turner.

    What Tyson says about Kiki
Tyson claimed earlier this year that without a wife, he was a ‘savage animal’, noting that he even feats his current spouse Lahika.
“Without my wife, I’m a savage animal… I look at women differently as I get older,” he told ExpediTIously.
“When I was younger, I viewed them as pleasure. Now that I’m older, I look at them as the half.

Logan Paul sparring after calling out legend Floyd Mayweather and claiming he would ‘snap the f***er in half’

LOGAN PAUL is sparring again after calling out Floyd Mayweather and claiming he would ‘snap the f***er in half’.
The YouTuber and legend Mayweather were in bizarre talks recently over a farcical exhibition bout.

Logan Paul is sparring again after calling out Floyd Mayweather

Mayweather tweeted to accept a fight against Paul

And the pair ramped up speculation of a fight after trading words online.
Later, an image shared on Instagram showed 25-year-old Paul after a recent sparring session.
Amateur boxer Angel Lozano, who shared the picture, went on to praise the social media star’s skill in the ring which ‘will surprise a lot of you’.
Lozano wrote: “Everyone asking is he any good he solid work I promise he will surprise a lot of you.

“Don’t be mad at him because he doing it!
“If you walk into a boxing gym you will find the most random people putting in work together that would never be in the room together outside of the gym to me that make boxing special!
“Don’t judge someone if you ain’t perfect!”
Paul caught Mayweather’s attention after he boasted about being able to ‘whoop’ the 50-0 icon.

How Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul compare ahead of their fight

He said: “Let me tell you this, if I caught Floyd in a real fight, street fight, whoop his ass, no question.
“MMA? Octagon? Whoop his ass, no question. The only place Floyd is safe, obviously the boxing ring.
    “But to be honest, I don’t give a f***. I don’t give a f***. I would fight Floyd anytime, anywhere, any place. Doesn’t f***in’ matter to me.
“If I caught Floyd with one punch, I would snap this f***er in half. Crack, my friend.
“I’m eight inches taller, 40 pounds heavier, half his age, two times as hungry, 10 times as smart.”
Paul’s fighting words did not go down too well with Mayweather, who retired in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor.

The 43-year-old announced he is set to come back to the ring in February 2021 in Japan for an exhibition bout.
It was in Tokyo two years ago that he earned £7million after taking out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.
And Mayweather revealed before he marks his return to the Far East, he is all in to fight Paul.
He tweeted: “These YouTube girls better find some Barbie dolls to play with cause I’m not the one for the kid games.
“3 years ago a fighter from the UFC said my name and I had to put a muzzle on that bitch.
“@loganpaul can get the same treatment before I go conquer Japan again.”

Paul made his pro boxing debut last November, losing by split-decision against internet rival KSI.
The American had two points deducted after hitting KSI on the floor, which ultimately cost him the result.
Despite his losing record, Paul has called to face Mayweather in a money-spinning spectacle.
He said: “Bro, think about it. He’s got everything to lose, I’ve got nothing to lose.
“Mr Money wants a money fight? Let’s f***ing go.”

Manny Pacquiao ‘did much worse’ than Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather, claims ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen

CONOR McGREGOR fought better than Manny Pacquiao did against Floyd Mayweather, according to ex-UFC star Chael Sonnen.
Pacquiao was outboxed over 12 rounds against Mayweather in 2015 in the richest fight in boxing history.

Former UFC champion McGregor was then unsuccessful against the American legend two years later, as he was stopped in round ten.
But Sonnen reckons PacMan ‘did much worse’ in his attempt to beat Mayweather when compared to McGregor’s effort.
And the former UFC title challenger even backed The Notorious to fight Pacquiao, having already shared the ring with Mayweather.
He explained: “Pacquiao did much worse with Floyd than Conor did.

“If that’s the only thing we have to compare it to, then let’s do the fight. Manny Pacquiao? One of the best ever?
“All of those things are true but he’s already done it once and he did it with Floyd, who’s better than Pacquiao.
“I’m just saying, we don’t how good Conor is.”
McGregor, 32, made his boxing debut the night he fought Mayweather, 43, who went on to retire a perfect 50-0.

The Irishman did win some of the early rounds and ended the fight having landed 111 punches.
In contrast, Filipino icon Pacquiao, 41, only scored with 81 shots, despite having two more rounds to do so.
But Mayweather had not boxed for two years before facing McGregor, and claimed press ups and sit ups were his sole training methods before the bout.
McGregor has vowed to return to the ring and believes he will even win a world title in boxing.
It looked as though he could have even faced Pacquiao after revealing the pair were in talks.
Instead, he is now in line for a UFC return having signed to rematch Dustin Poirier – who he beat in 2014 – in a January 23 headliner.
But McGregor did reveal he will use the fight against southpaw Poirier, 31, in preparation for fellow left-hander Pacquiao.

Correct. Southpaw box style. Continue to sharpen my MMA skills with some tough competition, while leading into my Manny bout preparation. It’s not easy going between both sports and then coming back to the one sport again.Just want to keep sharp guys, that’s all. It’s only fair. https://t.co/PnjHb4VP9j

Roy Jones Jr, 51, admits his career ‘was done’ until ‘bucket-list’ Mike Tyson fight forced him to end retirement

ROY JONES JR was sure his career ‘was done’ until a ‘bucket-list’ Mike Tyson fight forced him out of retirement.
The American faces fellow legend Tyson next weekend in an eight-round exhibition.

Roy Jones Jr faces fellow legend Mike Tyson next weekend in an eight-round exhibition

Tyson and Jones are both coming out of retirement

After Jones became heavyweight world champion in 2003, he desperately wanted to face Iron Mike.
So when the opportunity finally came knocking 17 years later, it proved too good to turn down.
Jones said: “I thought I was done.
“When I got the call from my team saying ‘Mike Tyson wants to fight you’ — that’s bucket-list material.

“Everywhere I go in life, people ask me ‘Hey, did you ever fight Mike Tyson?’ Now I don’t have to say ‘No’ no more.
“I’m so glad to get this opportunity because now I can say, ‘Yes, I did. I sure did.’
“And guess what? Tune in on the 28th, and you’ll see how it goes.”
Jones, 51, only retired in 2018 after four straight wins, against little-known opposition.

Tyson, 54, on the other hand has not fought since 2005, as he retired following two dismal defeats.
But this year he announced shock plans to make a comeback, 15 years after his last bout, and has dramatically transformed his body.
Despite the expected ring rust, Jones is preparing for the best possible Tyson – including the version that won the title aged 20.
He said: “Going into the ring with one of the most dangerous men to ever grace the boxing ring.
“One of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history, the youngest heavyweight champion of all time.
“Are you going to not prepare? Are you crazy? You should prepare just as hard as the last time you went in the ring.”

Floyd Mayweather returning to boxing aged 43 because he has blown his $1billion fortune, claims Amir Khan

AMIR KHAN believes old rival Floyd Mayweather may only be plotting a boxing return because he has spent all of his fortune.
Mayweather officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor, but sparked comeback rumours last November after announcing he was “coming out of retirement in 2020”.

Amir Khan believes Floyd Mayweather may return to boxing because he needs the money

Mayweather announced he would come out of retirement in 2020

The 43-year-old – who followed a unique training regime throughout his unbeaten career – has since uploaded videos of himself back in the gym, even returning to sparring.
And Brit Khan, who tirelessly chased a fight against Mayweather but to no avail, reckons the 50-0 US star could be preparing to lace up the gloves again because he is in need of another payday.
He told World Boxing News: “I mean, Floyd Mayweather, to fight again? – At the end of the day, I don’t know.
“Floyd Mayweather is one of those fighters who might have spent up (all his money) and might have to come back to the ring again.

“He spends a lot of money, but I don’t know if he’s ever going to want to come back. As I said, maybe he’s going to.”
Mayweather is said to have earned $1billion throughout his career, but has faced accusations by McGregor and former friend 50 Cent that he has somehow blown all his cash.
The former pay-per-view king has shot down the speculation linking him with a rematch against Manny Pacquiao – who he beat in 2015 – but said he would “absolutely” face McGregor again, or UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khan thinks 41-year-old PacMan, the current WBA welterweight champion, may be influencing Mayweather to make a return to the ring, even without fighting him.
He explained: “He’s (Floyd) been out of the ring a long time and he is getting older. You have to remember his age, he’s 43 years old.
“Obviously, you’ve still got Manny Pacquiao going at 41. Mayweather might see that and think I can keep going boxing as well.”
