Hearn says Anthony Joshua could have died without boxing as he slams Government for snubbing sport from £300m bail-out

EDDIE HEARN claims Anthony Joshua could have ended up dead without boxing as he slammed the Government’s ‘disgusting’ decision to leave boxing out of their £300million bail-out.
Rugby and horse racing are among the 11 sports that will receive emergency funding.

Eddie Hearn claims Anthony Joshua could have died if it wasn’t for boxingCredit: PA:Press Association

Matchroom promoter Hearn, 41, is furious that grassroots boxing has been left off the list.
At the launch of The National Lottery and ITV’s Miss Out to Help Out project, he said: “It’s so disgusting that the government are not supporting grassroots boxing.
“A huge amount of money is going into rugby and horse racing, yet nothing into a sport that’s saving people’s lives and that’s because they’re so far removed from those communities.
“They have no idea what boxing does in the community. They’ve never been to an ABC boxing club.

“You would only have to walk in to one to see the kind of kids who are in there.
“It’s keeping kids off the street, it’s keeping them physically in shape, mentally focused, it’s keeping them driven.
“Yet you want to put money into horse racing. These kids aren’t going to gravitate towards horse racing or rugby. There’s too many barriers to entry.
“You can walk into a boxing club around the corner in your community and change your life.

    Government’s £300m bail-out

Here’s what has been decided so far…

    Rugby Union – £135m
    Horse racing – £40m
    Football – £28m
    Rugby League – £12m
    Motorsport – £6m
    Tennis – £5m
    Netball – £4m
    Basketball – £4m
    Ice hockey – £4m
    Badminton – £2m
    Greyhound racing – £1m

“Go and talk to Anthony Joshua about what boxing did for him and where he’d be without boxing – in prison, dead, anything.
“They can help so many community clubs survive.”
AJ previously told SunSport how he would have been behind bars without his beloved boxing to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Sports minister Nigel Huddleston outlined the ‘winter survival package’ in a Commons statement this week.
The injection of cash will provide much-needed security for sports facing financial difficulty as a result of the Covid crisis.
Rugby union was granted the biggest share of the loans made available, with a £135m fund.
Horse racing gets the next biggest share, with courses splitting £40m between them.

Joe Joyce shows off ripped physique in incredible four-month body transformation ahead of Daniel Dubois fight

JOE JOYCE showed off his incredible body transformation with his ripped physique ahead of the Daniel Dubois fight.
The Juggernaut, 35, has shredded the pounds and piled on the muscle in recent months.

Frank Warren shared this incredible four-month body transformation of his man Joe Joyce

And the extent of his hard work was evident for all to see with Frank Warren’s before and after photos.
In a photo from July 2020, when he beat Bryant Jennings and Michael Wallisch in the space of a fortnight, the heavyweight is certainly carrying a fair bit of extra weight.
But just FOUR months later, a pic from November shows a much leaner, more trimmed shape with his muscles bulging.
And, combined with the grimace, it offers a threatening prospect for Dubois.

Warren captioned the side-by-side images: “We see you @JoeJoyceBoxing.”
Joyce also tweeted the recent photo and added: “War Ready!”
The Londoners go head to head on November 28 in their rearranged bout, which was due to take place on April 11.
They will step into the ring around 10.30pm with the British, Commonwealth and vacant European heavyweight titles on the line.

Interestingly, it is being staged at the iconic Church House Westminster.
The Grade II-listed building is stooped in history having been originally built in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria and was used during the war to hosts Parliament after sustaining minimal damage from a German bomb.
Dubois vs Joyce will be shown live free on BT Sport 1 for fans to enjoy, despite the event originally being billed as a pay-per-view.

The fight is a big one for Joshua, who can all but secure a money-spinning pair of bouts with Tyson Fury with an emphatic win.
When is Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev?
The fight is scheduled to take place on December 12.
It was originally scheduled for June 20 but the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to those plans.
What time does Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev start?
Fight night will likely get underway at around 5pm with some undercard bouts live on Facebook.
Joshua vs Pulev can be expected to start at around 10.30pm UK time on December 12.

Joshua won back his WBA, WBO and IBF titles from Andy Ruiz Jr in DecemberCredit: PA:Press Association
What channel is it on and can it believe streamed?
Joshua vs Pulev will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The price of the pay-per-view has been set at £24.95, which is more than usual for a PPV event.
The event can be live streamed from the Sky Sports Box Office app, which you can download onto your mobile or tablet device.
    What has been said?
“I have been watching his fights carefully. He has a good style and he is a good specimen, but he has not shown any mental toughness,” Pulev said.
“Yes, he has skills, but he hasn’t shown the mental strength. This is something from within, in the blood of a man, and he does not have it.
“Whatever mental toughness he’s got, I know I’m the harder person. This is the difference – my toughness will prevail.”

But Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said his man will do the business on fight night.
“I went to see him yesterday, he looked absolutely sensational,” Hearn told Sky Sports.
“He’s learning, he’s punching so hard, so sharp, so fast. I think this is going to be a tough fight against Kubrat Pulev. I also think he is going to absolutely destroy him.
“I think he’s going to break him down, he’s going to dissect him, and he’s going to punish him. I think you’re going to see a statement.

Conor McGregor would be knocked out in ONE round by Manny Pacquiao, claims Jeff Mayweather

MANNY PACQUIAO would knock Conor McGregor out in ONE ROUND, according to Floyd Mayweather’s uncle Jeff.
The Notorious is said to be in talks for a blockbuster event against the Filipino, but plans have been put on ice for the time being with the Irishman signing for UFC 257 on January 23, 2001.

According to Jeff Mayweather, his nephew Floyd toyed with Conor McGregor and could have ended the fight when he wantedCredit: Reuters

How McGregor and Pacquiao stack up

McGregor tried his hand at boxing once before – but was unsuccessful when he was stopped in the tenth round against legend Floyd Mayweather back in 2017.
But, undeterred, McGregor will return to the ring against Pacquiao in the Middle East – yet PacMan insisted he will only agree terms to fight if he can co-promote the event.
Mayweather’s uncle Jeff, however, has previously scoffed at the idea of McGregor fighting Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao wouldn’t play with his a**. He’d knock him out in one round
    Jeff Mayweather

He thinks McGregor only lasted as long as he did against his nephew because Floyd toyed with him.

And the 56-year-old predicts it would be an easy night’s work for boxing’s only eight-division world champion.
Speaking on his YouTube boxing channel, Jeff said: “I think Floyd could have knocked Conor McGregor out anytime he wanted to.
“Just like they were talking about him [McGregor] fighting Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao wouldn’t play with his a**. He’d knock him out in one round.
“Any other fighter other than Floyd would knock Conor McGregor out in one or two rounds.”

    MALIGNAGGI AGREES
This is an opinion shared by ex-boxer Paulie Malignaggi, who is of course McGregor’s bitter rival.
American Malignaggi, 39, said: “He basically quit against Mayweather and stopped throwing punches. He was in shape. I was in camp with him. He was looking for a way out of that fight.”
The former sparring partners had a high-profile falling out three years ago in the build-up to McGregor’s fight with Mayweather.
The UFC star angered the American after releasing images of him appearing to KO Malignaggi during a training session.

Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: UK start time, date, TV channel, live stream, undercard, rules for huge boxing fight

BOXING legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will face off in a spectacular exhibition fight in LA.
The 54-year-old Tyson will face Jones, 51, in a long-awaited bout, with the Baddest Man on the Planet dropping an incredible SIX stone to get in shape for the clash.

How Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr match up

The California State Commission say the exhibition will be fought under the rules that both men will not look for the knock-out and will instead “exhibit” their skills, but both fighters have come out and said the contrary.
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The big fight is now set for Thanksgiving Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It was originally set to take place on September 12 but the event has been postponed until later in the year.
The undercard is expected to start at 9pm ET which is 1am GMT and the main event will follow between 4am and 5am GMT.
The legends are set to eight rounds in the ring, with Youtube star Jake Paul and NBA star Nate Robinson confirmed for the undercard.

What live stream and TV channel is Tyson vs Jones Jr on?
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK.
The event will cost £19.95 to watch.
Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight.
Emmy-winner Mario Lopez hosts the show, and musical acts will be announced for performances too.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?
YouTuber Jake Paul leads the way on the four-fight card when he takes on ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.
Elsewhere KSI’s trainer Viddal Riley is also in action as is former super-middleweight champion Badou Jack.
    Tyson vs Jones Jr
    Badou Jack vs Blake McKernan
    Jake Paul vs Nate Robinson
    Viddal Riley vs Rashad Coulter

What are the rules of the fight?
The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds.

No headguards will be worn but the fighters will be wearing larger 12-ounce gloves.
Technically the fight can only be stopped if there is a knock-out, but California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Forster said he will stop it as soon as a cut appears.
Forster said: “Tyson and Jones Jr. won’t be wearing headgear for the fight. They’ll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won’t be any judges present at the fight to score the action. So, technically, there won’t be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs, or either fighter is deemed unfit to continue.
“They can move around and make some money, but I told them if you get cut, it’s over.”

Roy Jones Jr, 51, last fought only two years ago
    What have they said?
Mike Tyson: “We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones Jr: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy. He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me. I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.” More

Conor Benn vs Sebastian Formella: UK start time, live stream, TV channel and undercard for big welterweight clash

CONOR BENN hasn’t fought in over a year – and he’s being welcomed back to the sport with a tough test.
‘The Destroyer’ is undefeated in his pro career so far and could be seen last knocking out Steven Jamoye at the O2 last October.

Benn was meant to fight again in the spring but coronavirus scuppered those plans – so he’s back this weekend against IBO welterweight titleholder Formella.
Formella dropped a decision to former two-time world champion Shawn Porter in August, so this will be his second fight of the pandemic.
When is the fight taking place?
Conor Benn vs Sebastian Formella will throw down on Saturday, November 21.
The fight will take place at Wembley Arena, where Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom have taken residency with their bubble over the next few weeks.
    What time is the fight?
The action should begin at 7pm UK time, with Benn and Formella’s ring-walks likely to occur around 10pm UK time.
Usually Matchroom put earlier fights on Facebook, with coverage beginning as early as 5pm, but that isn’t the case this time.
What channel is it on and can it be streamed?
Benn vs Formella will be live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Arena.
You can live stream the action from your NOW TV or Sky Go app on a tablet or mobile device.

    What has been said
Conor Benn: “At the start of lockdown I did say that I would not fight behind closed doors and I was criticised.
“But the criticism came from people who have never got in a ring and risked their life and health for money.

“I have been out of the ring for a year but used the time to learn so much in the gym and improve so why shouldn’t I sit tight and wait for the opportunity I have earned?”

“This time next year I will be British and Commonwealth champion and that is all that is on my horizon right now.
“I am just desperate to reach my full potential.
“I don’t go around saying I am going to be a world champion, I just want to get the absolute maximum out of myself.

“There are a lot of deluded fighters out there and I don’t want to sound like them.” More

Watch Roy Jones Jr, 51, show off incredible hand speed as he reveals Mike Tyson ‘inspires’ him ahead of comeback fight

ROY JONES JR showed off his incredible hand speed after revealing Mike Tyson ‘inspires’ him ahead of their blockbuster fight.
The American faces his fellow legend in an eight-round exhibition bout next weekend.

Roy Jones Jr showed off incredible hand speed

Jones revealed Mike Tyson ‘inspires’ him ahead of their fight

Tyson, 54, will fight for the first time in 15 years and has dramatically transformed his body ahead of the remarkable comeback.
Iron Mike’s viral training videos on the pads has been fuelling Jones, 51, with motivation ahead of their pay-per-view spectacle.
He said: “I think he looks awesome. He looks very good.
“To see Mike be able to hit the pads and the body bag the way he’s doing it, it’s phenomenal. It’s crazy. But we’re freaks.

“That’s why this is such a big thing. We’re two of the most explosive guys to ever touch a boxing ring.
“At 54, I want to watch him beat the mitts and bag more than any guy right now because it’s so exciting.
“He inspires me by how hard he’s preparing to get back in the ring.”

Jones gave fans a glimpse into his training camp ahead of his return to the ring.

Trainer Tom Yankello uploaded footage on Instagram showing the former four-division champion firing off quick combinations.
And Jones also made use of his quick feet pivoting in between punches.
He only retired two years ago having won four straight in the US, albeit against unfamiliar opposition.
Tyson, on the other hand, has not laced up the gloves since retiring in 2005 off the back of two dismal defeats.
