Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr: UK start time, date, live stream, undercard, rules for HUGE heavyweight boxing show

BOXING legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr face off in a spectacular exhibition fight in Los Angeles this weekend.
The 54-year-old Tyson will do battle with Jones, 51, in a long-awaited bout, with the Baddest Man on the Planet dropping an incredible SIX stone to get in shape for the clash.

How Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr match up

The California State Commission say the exhibition will be fought under the rules that both men will not look for the knock-out and will instead “exhibit” their skills, but both fighters have come out and said the contrary.
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The big fight is set for THIS  Weekend – Saturday, November 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It was originally set to take place on September 12 but the event has been postponed until later in the year.

Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight.
Emmy-winner Mario Lopez hosts the show, and musical acts will be announced for performances too.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?

    Main card
    Prelims
Jamaine Ortiz vs. Nahir Albright, (8 x 3min, lightweight)
Irvin Gonzalez vs. Edward Vasquez (8 x 3min, featherweight)

The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds.
No headguards will be worn but the fighters will be wearing larger 12-ounce gloves.

Referee Ray Corona will be able to halt it if he chooses to.
The WBC will be remotely scoring the fight with the winner crowned WBC Frontline champion.
Forster said: “Tyson and Jones Jr. won’t be wearing headgear for the fight. They’ll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won’t be any judges present at the fight to score the action. So, technically, there won’t be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs, or either fighter is deemed unfit to continue.
“They can move around and make some money, but I told them if you get cut, it’s over.”

Roy Jones Jr, 51, last fought only two years ago
    What have they said?
Mike Tyson: “We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones Jr: “He’s still Mike Tyson, he’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him.
“He’s the bigger guy, he’s the explosive guy. He’s going to have all the first-round fireworks, not me.
“I do have first-round fireworks, but he’s known for more first-round fireworks than anybody to ever touch boxing, other than maybe George Foreman.” More

Ex-NBA star Nate Robinson wants to fight YouTuber KSI if he beats Jake Paul on Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr undercard

NATE ROBINSON wants to settle the beef between Jake Paul and KSI – by beating them BOTH.
The ex-NBA star makes his pro boxing debut on Saturday, on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr.

He faces YouTuber Paul – who has long rivalled British internet sensation KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams.
But with 36-year-old Robinson planning on another bout after this weekend, he wants to steal a fight with KSI away from Paul.
He told SunSport: “At least one more fight, there’s another YouTuber talking s*** too, KSI.
“If this goes the way it’s supposed to go hopefully we can get KSI as well.

“We’ll see how this unfolds but definitely one more for sure.”
Paul made his pro debut in January, wiping out KSI’s close friend ‘AnEsonGib’ in one round.
It came two months after KSI beat Paul’s brother Logan, 25, via split-decision.
As a result, younger sibling Jake, 23, wants to gain revenge, with KSI, 27, awaiting the result of Saturday night.

Robinson, who has not played in the NBA since 2015, is far from familiar with the social media feud between the two.
But he is aware of being slap bang in the middle of it.
Robinson said: “I guess KSI beat his brother, I don’t know, that whole YouTube world I try stay out of it.
“I guess they have some beef and I’m in the middle of it, and whoever wins, KSI wants to fight.
“Once I win, and the KSI fight is available, what’s up!”
Logan and KSI first fought to a draw in their 2018 exhibition.
But for the rematch last November, they controversially turned professional, with world champions boxing on the undercard.

Similarly, Robinson’s debut bout against Paul has also raised eyebrows.
And that intensified with the criticism surrounding Tyson, 54, and Jones, 51, coming out out retirement for their pay-per-view spectacle.
But three-time Slam Dunk champion Robinson does not listen to the naysayers – or anyone else for that matter.
He explained: “I haven’t been on social media to see that type of thing.
“And, I’m the type of guy who doesn’t give a s*** what people say or think on the fight or whether we deserve to be on the undercard.
“These are blessings and we can’t turn it down and an honour to be on the undercard of Mike Tyson and Roy Jones.

“Boxers would die for this opportunity, spend their whole careers so for me to earn the opportunity to fight in front of these guys, it’s an honour or a blessing.
“I’m taking this seriously, it’s not fun and games, I really want to show them how I’ve put in work.”
Robinson’s trainer, Francisco ‘Paco’ Reyes, like many others, was initially taken aback by the new wave of outsiders coming over to boxing.
But after experiencing first hand the attraction and new eyes the stars can bring to the sport, he has nothing but support of it.
Reyes said: “It’s good for boxing, it brings a whole new crowd to the game.
“People who probably never really liked boxing could now be into the sport.”

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr CAN win by KO and remote WBC judges WILL declare winner, PPV platform Triller confirms

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr CAN try and knock each other out and a winner WILL be declared, pay-per-view platform Triller confirmed.

California State Athletic Commission have sanctioned the bout and consistently insisted it is nothing more than a glorified sparring session.
And both ex-heavyweight champion have been warned against trying to win by KO.
But Tyson, 54, and Jones, 51, distanced themselves from this stance, promising all action.
And they could be free to do so, according to Triller – who paid around £40million to secure the broadcast right.

They released a statement alongside their official betting partner DraftKings.
It read: The bouts will all be sanctioned by CSAC and scored by the World Boxing Athletic Commission, who will additionally choose a winner based on pro-fighting rules.
“A knockout will also be considered a win.”
It comes after bookies suspended betting over the confusion on the rules and whether a winner would be declared.

The WBC, who will put a belt on the line, have hired three former fighters to score the bout.
But Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson will not be ringside, instead watching on remotely.
Even Tyson – who fights for the first time in 15 years – admitted he is not sure what the rules will permit on fight night.
He told ESPN: “I’m coming to entertain the audience.
“Listen, my anticipation is I’m the winner. So, I don’t know anything about the rules, I’ll find out the day of the fight.
“I don’t want to break any rules of course. It’s going to be what it’s going to be.
“I know I’m in a fight, and that’s all I need to know.”

Ricky Hatton reveals he felt ‘suicidal’ after giving up boxing – and can see why Mike Tyson can’t give up the ‘drug’

RICKY HATTON has revealed he felt ‘suicidal’ after hanging up his gloves.
The former world champion, 42, has reflected on life after boxing ahead of Mike Tyson’s comeback.

Tyson, 54 will return to the ring for the first time since 2005 when he faces Roy Jones Jr, 51, later this month.
Like Tyson, Hatton felt the need to make a comeback in 2012 after he announced his retirement in 2011.
The Brit likened the buzz of boxing to a drug as he revealed the end of his career left him feeling suicidal.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hatton said: “I was suicidal.

“It’s like a drug that feeling of the crowd roar and singing your name.”
Before he continued: “It was probably the worst part of my life.
“From 16 when I left school I was training with Billy Graham practically as a pro but fitting a few carpets to pay for my upkeep.
“I’ve been boxing everyday of my working life and then to suddenly be sat on your sofa in the living room with nothing to do was very hard.

“I was getting more and more down about it which consequently led me going to the pub every day because I had nothing to do. It spiralled down from there.
“It’s very hard to replace [boxing] when you have 40,000/50,000 singing ‘there’s only one Ricky Hatton’ and your hand gets raised in front of thousands at the MEN Arena, then all of a sudden that’s gone.”
Hatton made a comeback against welterweight star Vyacheslav Senchenko in 2012.
But his return to the ring ended in misery after he was knocked out by the Ukrainian.
He continued: “I wanted to make a comeback because I felt in my mind that I had let people down. I was the people’s champ, kid next door and all of a sudden I’m depressed, taking drugs and feeling suicidal. I felt I needed to do it to get my respect back.”
Hatton, who won world titles at light-welterweight and welterweight, hit rock bottom when he gave in to booze and drugs before finally admitting himself to a rehab clinic.
When quizzed about Tyson’s upcoming bout, Hatton revealed his concerns ahead of the fight.
He added: “I am concerned because of the things I’ve just mentioned of not wanting to say goodbye and for it to go on forever and ever.

Mike Tyson, aged 54, will make his comeback to boxing later this month Credit: Instagram / @miketyson
“I do worry for him because I am proud of him but on the other side I’m thinking ‘don’t do it Mike’ and I think I’m more towards the latter because of his age.
“One of the sayings of boxing who are making a comeback is it doesn’t matter how old you get, you never lose your punch.
    “There’s never one truer saying.
“But I’ll tell you what you do f****** lose as you get older – your resistance.
“More damage can be done once you’ve copped one.
“You lose your mobility, your agility to get out of the way of the punch.

“If we say the art of boxing is to hit and not get hit, there’s more of a chance getting hit the older you get.”
George Foreman thinks Tyson’s comeback at the age of 54 this weekend is ‘temporary insanity’.
But former heavyweight king Tyson has hailed reports of record pre-fight PPV sales for his comeback.

Tyson vs Jones fight purse: How much are each of the legendary boxers making from big exhibition bout?

MIKE TYSON is ending a 15-year hiatus from the ring as he returns for a legends exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.
Iron Mike has got himself into peak physical shape after losing SEVEN stone for the bout, while former four-weight world champ Jones Jr is himself fighting for the first time since 2018.

Already breaking PPV records, the fight is set to be an epic spectacle between two of the greatest to ever grace the ring.
Tyson vs Jones Jr fight purse
As you’d expect, this fight is big business and there’s huge sums of money going to each competitor.
But because the bout is officially an exhibition with different rules than usual shows, bookmakers have decided NOT to take futher bets on it.
If an official result is announced, then most bets already placed are expected to be honoured and paid out.

However, if neither man has his arm raised by the referee, then the markets will be voided and stakes returned.
Neither fighter will be wearing headgear, while there is a ban on knockouts and no ringside scoring despite the WBC sanctioning proceedings.
Both men have been warned away from trying to score a KO and told the clash will be instantly stopped if either veteran suffers a cut.
But they will be handsomely paid for their efforts over eight two-minute rounds regardless, with the fighters ages coming to a combined 105-years-old.

Jones Jr and Tyson will split the purse 50-50 down the middle, with most of the money coming from PPV purchases.
It is expected each fighter will walk away with around £7.5million for their nights work, but that could rise substantially if the fight sells plenty of pay-per-view tickets.

How do I watch Tyson vs Jones Jr?
BT Sport Box Office will be broadcasting the fight in the UK.
The event will cost £19.95 to watch.
Coverage begins at 8pm ET, which is midnight in UK. The undercard is set to start from 1am GMT.
The social media site Triller will also be airing the PPV fight in the USA, with a cost of $59.99. More

McGregor is making his UFC return in January and Paul is adamant he has the beating of the Irish fighter.
Paul told BT Sport Boxing: “These MMA guys go to practice every day and have to spend their whole day on one thing – elbows, knees, grappling, take downs so there’s a lot they have to work on.
“But I’ve been going into the gym for the past three years and all I’ve been focusing on is boxing, so come over into my arena and you’re going to get your a** beat.
“Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor will happen. People think that’s crazy and Jake’s going to get his a** kicked but we’ll see.”

Tyson makes his long-awaited comeback on Saturday in an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr in Los Angeles but Paul is steering clear of challenging the infamous heavyweight to a fight.
Paul expects Iron Mike to be too powerful for his opponent although claims Jones Jr’s best chance is to prolong the fight.
Paul said: “I think Mike is so powerful and that power is just going to shock Roy especially with them being a lot older.

How Jake Paul and Nate Robinson compare ahead of their fight

“You can’t take as many punches like that. I think Mike wins in the second round.

“If it goes into the later rounds Roy could potentially come back and win on points just because he has that speed and that distance control.”
Paul is facing Robinson with the former NBA star making his boxing debut on the undercard of Tyson’s fight.

Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr exhibition fight rules: Knockouts, rounds, minutes, how to win – bizarre rules explained

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr face off in an intriguing exhibition fight this weekend.
But what are the rules for the boxing spectacle? Is a knockout allowed and how many minutes will the rounds be?

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr do battle this weekend
What are the rules for Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?

With a combined age of 105, Tyson and Jones Jr do battle in Los Angeles on Saturday night.
They will fight over eight, two minute rounds, and will be wearing larger 12oz gloves.
The fighters will not be wearing headgear.
Men’s boxing bouts usually run over three minute rounds and both stars have expressed their dismay at the shorter rounds.

Jones Jr said: “I’m not happy at all.

“Like [Tyson] said, that’s for women. I kept fighting until the last minute, saying, ‘Why we fighting two-minute rounds?’ I don’t understand that. We’re not women. We’re two of the best to ever do it.
“Why we got to do two-minute rounds? Why? If something’s going to happen, it’s going to happen anyway … two minutes, three minutes, five minutes. Don’t really matter.
“So, for us, what difference does it make? Two minutes doesn’t do anything for him or for me. To be honest with you, it cheats the fans out of it.”

In addition, the California State Commission have said that if either boxer is cut or injured the fight will be stopped, though it remains to be seen if referee Ray Corona will choose to halt it.

Referee Ray Corona will be the man in the middle
The World Boxing Council have created the WBC Frontline Battle Belt to give to the winner, and have former WBC champs Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson scoring the fight remotely should it go all eight rounds for the organisation to decide a victor.
    Is a knockout allowed?
Technically yes, although the legends have been urged NOT to go for a K.O.
The California State Commission have deemed it a bout for the greats to “exhibit” their boxing skills.
UFC boss Dana White was flabbergasted after hearing the rule, saying: “There’s no knockouts? They’re not allowed to knock each other out? How do you enforce that?
Both fighters have said they are gunning for a K.O on Saturday night, and it will come down to the referee’s discretion to step in if he sees fit.

    What have they said?
Andy Foster, California State Commission executive director: “It’s an exhibition.
“They can exhibit their boxing skills, but I don’t want them using their best efforts to hurt each other.
“They’re going to spar hard, but they shouldn’t be going for a knockout. This isn’t a record-book type of fight. This is not world-championship boxing right now. It’s not what this is. People shouldn’t be getting knocked out.
“The public can see what kind of shape Roy and Mike are still in.

Mike Tyson’s incredible bodyweight workout routine
“I’m sure there are going to be times where it heats up. Ray’s [Corona, referee] job is going to be to put the ice back on without having to kill the whole thing. He’s that kind of referee. I feel that he’s going to be good at that, and he’s the right guy for this kind of a fight.”
Jones Jr: “First of all, if you think you are going into the ring with Mike Tyson, the last guy [Corey Sanders] that did an ‘exhibition’ with Mike [in 2006] got dropped in the first round.
“If you don’t know that, then something is wrong with you. Who goes into the ring with the great, legendary Mike Tyson and thinks, ‘Oh, this is going to be an exhibition?’ 12-ounce gloves? No headgear? Really? This is an exhibition? Come on, man. Be for real’.”
When is Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
The fight is set for Saturday, November 28.
The undercard is expected to start at 9pm ET which is 1am GMT and the main event will follow at around 4am – 5am GMT.
LA’s Staples Center plays host with no fans in attendance.
Who is on the Tyson vs Jones Jr undercard?
YouTube star Jake Paul leads the way on the four-fight card when he takes on ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.
Elsewhere Hasim Rahman Jr has stepped in after KSI’s trainer Viddal Riley pulled out.
    Main card
Tyson vs Jones Jr (8 x 2min rounds, heavyweight exhibition)
