Mike Tyson confirms he WILL fight again aged 54 after draw with Roy Jones Jr who hints at retirement at 51

MIKE TYSON says he will ‘absolutely’ have more boxing fights after he drew his comeback against Roy Jones Jr.
The former two-time heavyweight champion of the world can count himself unlucky not to have being named the winner in a messy affair.

Jones Jr turned it into a wrestling match at times, nullifying Tyson’s power.
The boxing legends went the full eight rounds on a historic night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Speaking after the 16-minute scrap Tyson, 54 said: “I’m just happy I got this under my belt.
“I’m continuing to go further and do more. Absolutely [I’ll do this again].”

Jones Jr was less-certain, saying that he will wait to check what people thought before confirming he will fight on.
But Tyson then urged his opponent to stick with it, adding: “We gotta do this again.”
Jones Jr didn’t find the space in the small ring to dance around Tyson as many expected.
But similarly, the ‘Baddest Man On The Planet’ failed to find those hammer shots that many predicted would make a short night’s work.

Yet Iron Mike seemed happy enough with a draw.
He said: “I’m good with that. Yeah but I’m good with a draw.”
Despite being fortunate to get a share of the spoils, Jones Jr was less enthused with the decision.

He added: “Hell no. I’m never satisfied with a draw. The dude is so strong. The body shots definitely took a toll.”
Tyson was strongly rumoured to be chasing a trilogy fight against old foe Evander Holyfield before Jones Jr signed up for the fight.
With his inistsence that he will have more exhibition fights, it will raise hopes that Holyfield Part III could be on the cards.

Mike Tyson result: Boxing legends with combined age of 105 DRAW on judges scorecards in bizarre exhibition fight

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr fought to a DRAW in what proved a bizarre exhibition bout.
The legendary pair boxed over eight rounds in what ultimately provided more clinching than punching.

Tyson, at 54, somewhat rolled back the clock as he boxed with nothing but aggression throughout.
Whereas Jones, 51, looked to try and nick the result on the back foot, avoiding Iron Mike’s heavy-hands at all costs.
The mainly uneventful pay-per-view spectacle had little highlights, meaning the veteran duo avoided any risks to their health.
After the result was announced, Tyson said: “I’m good with a draw, because I entertained the crowd, the crowd was happy with it.”

The celebrated puncher had not fought for 15 years before the opening bell sounded.
And Tyson looked to try and pick off where he started, charging at Jones from the get-go.
But despite the pressure, it went largely to waste as the pair spent most their time clinching.
In the second round, again Jones came out light on his feet, flicking out his jab.

But whenever Tyson attempted to get into range and fire, he was grabbed.
Iron Mike did try switch to head and body, but it was telegraphed and blocked.
The third round will not live long in the memory as Jones spent the entire two minutes tying his man up, desperately avoiding a trade off.
Tyson came out aggressive in the fourth but again it ended up with them grabbing hold of each other.
Jones did land with his jab but his constant clinching canceled out any credit – so much so that he was warned with disqualification.
The fifth saw both men at least try and swing some punches but nothing clean landed.
Tyson was again pushing the pace and looked to have landed some short body shots on the inside.
Into the sixth and it was a similar story of coming togethers.

Jones’ best offence was his jab Credit: Getty Images – Getty
Tyson did show off some trademark footwork, pivoting off to the side but his hook and uppercut combination missed the target.
In round seven, Jones turned southpaw to try and land with a sharp left hand, but it did not pay off.
Tyson did manage to get Jones into the corner but again found himself smothering his own work.
Into the eighth and final round and both legends appeared to have a bolt in energy.
Tyson came charging out the blocks, again, with Jones making the space to land with his jab, the only punch he looked confident in throwing.
After some grabbing and shoving the bell to end it all sounded.
Despite the lack of action, the iconic former champions came out unscathed and even ready to fight another day.

Tyson said: “I’m used to doing it for three minutes, sometimes like two minutes or three minutes.
“I hope to go further, absolutely, and he can be on the card as well
“I was very happy to be here, despite what everyone says I was happy to go to eight rounds.
“Nobody thought I could go eight rounds, but you’ve got to go the distance, that’s boxing.”
Jones Jr adds: “We’ve got to do this again, everybody loves Mike, I love Mike too but it’s something else taking punches from Mike.
“I’ll go talk to my family, see how they feel about it and if they want to do it again, we’ll do it again.”
Jones responded: “We’ve got to do this again, everybody loves Mike, I love Mike too but it’s something else taking punches from Mike.
“I’ll go talk to my family, see how they feel about it and if they want to do it again, we’ll do it again.”

Mike Tyson’s face tattoo and other designs meaning from communist heads to former tennis champ and ex-wife he cheated on

OVER the years, Mike Tyson has enjoyed getting inked up.
Memorably, his most famous tattoo is his tribal design etched on the left side of his head.

However, that could’ve been something completely different had the slugger had his way – read below.
In total, ‘Iron Mike’  – who makes his comeback this Saturday – has six tattoos – but what are they and what do they all mean?
Let SunSport walk you through Tyson’s body art.
What does Mike Tyson’s tribal face tattoo mean?
In 2003, Mike, 53, went under the needle of renowned tattoo artist Victor Whitmill.

Originally, he wanted his face to be covered in heart tattoos – so he would be recognised as ‘The Man of hearts.’
However, Whitmill strongly advised against that idea and instead gave him the tribal design.
In the 2008 documentary ‘Tyson’ the former heavyweight champ says it represents his ‘warrior status.’ You wouldn’t argue with him.
In popular culture, it featured in The Hangover film – which Tyson starred in – on the face of dentist, Stu Price.

Why did he get a Chairman Mao tattoo?
On Tyson’s right bicep, is a tattoo of Chinese communist revolutionary, Mao Zedong.
When he was in prison serving time for rape, the fearsome puncher was said to have read up on Zedong’s politics and identified with them.
He wanted to feel less shallow, and is also said to keep a collection of ‘Chairman Mao’s’ writings.
Tyson got the tattoo in tribute to his new inspiration.

    What about Che Guevara?
Tyson went one further than any East End hipster who may wear the image of the Argentine Marxist revolutionary on a T-shirt.
He got a tattoo of Che Guevara on his ribcage – complete with his famous beret.
Tyson was once asked why he decided on having Guevara tattoed on his body.
He said: “Che Guevara is an incredible individual. He had so much, but sacrificed it all for the benefit of other people.”

    The ex-wife
When you love someone so much, it’s only natural that you want to show the world.
Tyson did just that with his ex-wife Monica Turner by getting her face tattooed on the left side of his forearm.
They married in 1997, but were divorced in 2002 after Turner claimed adultery during their five-year marriage.

    Dragon
On his right forearm, Tyson boasts a rather fetching dragon tattoo.
He hasn’t ever commented on it, but in Chinese culture the dragon represents strength, wisdom and freedom.
It’s the most popular creature that’s requested at tattoo studios, but we wouldn’t knock Mike for authenticity.

    Arthur Ashe
    What on earth?
Now, Tyson didn’t strike us as a tennis fan. But he does have the three-time Grand Slam winner Arthur Ashe on his right shoulder.
Scribbled above the image are the words, ‘DAYS OF GRACE’.

Outside of sport, Ashe was well known for supporting social causes and set up the Arthur Ashe Foundation for the Defeat of Aids.
Tyson, himself, has become an activist for a holistic lifestyle through his cannabis empire.

Blake McKernan suffers ‘grotesque’ swelling after ex-US army veteran who served in Iraq takes brutal Badou Jack beating

BADOU JACK gave Blake McKernan a boxing lesson and severely swollen face over eight one-sided rounds.

And it proved to be every bit of a mismatch that former two-weight champion Jack promised.
McKernan came into the bout as a little-known but brash talking cruiserweight, unbeaten in 13 fights.
But the former US army soldier was unable to back up his words after being dominated in every round.
Jack, 37, immediately started the opening round on the front foot – and never let up.

He stalked McKernan, 33, all around the ring, pumping out an expert jab and smashing the American’s body to bits.
Jack looked to have his man in trouble towards the end of the round as he cornered him and landed some clubbing hooks upstairs and to the body.
In round two the difference in class was again apparent, as McKernan took a complete battering downstairs.
It was a similar story in the third as Jack walked McKernan down, measuring the distance with his jab and letting his hands go.

McKernan found himself bullied around the ring but every so often would hit in hope, but failed to put a dent in his vastly superior opponent.
In round four Jack landed with a beautiful double jab followed with a right hand and spent most the session investing in body shots.
Into the fifth and McKernan could do nothing but retreat backwards, as Jack’s jab and body shots did the damage.
Jack carried on the onslaught in rounds six and seven, but evidently upped his tempo as he looked for the finish.
He began to double up his hooks to the body and smashed McKernan with constant hooks.
But the ex-Machine gunner – who served one year in Iraq – just would not wilt.
The eighth and final round proved to be the most one-sided, with McKernan spending the whole three minutes shipping punishment.
Jack landed with uppercuts, hooks and body shots to cap off a complete beatdown beatdown.
Commentators were left praising McKernan’s toughness, after his suffered ‘grotesque’ swelling around his head.
Swede Jack will now look ahead to a rematch against Jean Pascal, having the first fight by split-decision last December. More
