Canelo Alvarez will fight Billy Joe Saunders in super-middleweight unification fight followed by GGG, claims Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN is backing Canelo Alvarez to target Billy Joe Saunders and Gennady Golovkin in 2021.
The Mexican cemented his reputation as one the greatest super-middleweights after destroying Callum Smith over 12 rounds on Saturday night in Texas.

The bruising victory meant he successfully stole the WBA super middleweight title and claimed the vacant WBC belt.
Alvarez is now a four division world champion and has plans to target the remaining belts with Joe Saunders holding the WBO and Caleb Plant with the IBF.
After the scrap, which left Smith bloodied and battered, he said: “I feel great at 168 pounds.
“I don’t want to fight the scales and after 13 months you can see what I can do.

“This is one of the best nights I have had, one of the greatest nights. I will go for more. I want all the belts, it doesn’t matter who has them,”
And Matchroom promoter Hearn, who has Joe Saunders on his books, is already plotting next year’s programme.
He told BBC Sport: “”He loves to take on the best, he’s a hell of a fighter.
“Billy Joe Saunders and then GGG in that order. I think he’s going to want to pick up the other belts in the division. I think he’ll go for Billy next.”

Alvarez was supposed to take on BJS in May but the event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However their rescheduled scrap may have to be put further on hold because Avni Yildirim is currently the WBC mandatory challenger.
As part of the deal to fight Smith, Alvarez must defend his belt against Yildirim within 90 days.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury ‘verbally agreed’ for May or June 2021 with only ‘minor issues to resolve’, says Hearn

EDDIE HEARN has confirmed the all-British heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has been verbally agreed.
The blockbuster bout is likely to take place between next May or June after a breakthrough in negotiations.

Hearn confirmed a ‘verbal agreement’ is in place for AJ to fight FuryCredit: Reuters

Matchroom promoter Hearn admitted that ‘minor issues’ need to be resolved before an official date is confirmed.
It is set to be one of the biggest British showdowns ever as the two giants to head-to-head to determine who will be crowned undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
The Atheltic’s Mike Coppinger wrote on social media: “Eddie Hearn says Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua is verbally agreed to and contracts are being drafted for the heavyweight championship fight in May/June.
“Hearn says only ‘minor issues to resolve’ such as who walks last, the site, etc. This fight is going to happen next.”

It is likely to be a two-fight deal worth a staggering £500million while the destination could be in the Middle East.
AJ overcame his first obstacle by breezing past Kubrat Pulev last weekend while Fury remains in a legal battle with Deontay Wilder over their failed trilogy of fights.
Another obstacle preventing the deal is the fact Oleksandr Usyk is currently the mandatory challenger for AJ’s WBO belt.
Hearn has previously admitted that both fighters could ditch their belts, from the four major sanctioning bodies, if they try to block the undisputed decider.

He said: “We’ve just got to be a bit careful because you may be on the verge of saying: ‘Lets just get rid of politics right now.
“Let’s just drop all the belts because if we lose one belt, we might as well lose them all. We will do whatever we can to make sure that every belt in boxing is on the line in the Tyson Fury fight.
“What we won’t be is held to ransom and we won’t let politics get involved in a fight that boxing needs.”

Marc Castro BEATS Luis Valdez (Rd 3 TKO)

Raymond Ford BEATS Joan Antonio Lopez (Rd 8 TKO)

Stay up to date with all the action via our live blog…

    UNBELIEVABLE
Canelo Alvarez’s list of achievements is frightening, what an incredible talent he is.

    POUND FOR POUND BEST?
There are certainly strong claims for Canelo Alvarez being the best pound for pound boxer in the world.
Last night’s clinical performance goes a long way to prove that.

    ‘I’M BACK’
After 13 months away from the ring, Canelo carried one exactly where he left off.
He was brilliant throughout against Smith and deservedly bagged the super-middleweights crowns.

    ‘DEVASTATED’
Callum Smith offered a candid assessment of his defeat to Canelo.
He said: “I’m devastated. I came here to win. No excuses, he was very good.
“It could have been a better version of me tonight. He is smart and he is clever.
“He closes ground, sets traps and before you know it he’s closed the ground up. I maybe let him close the ground up too easily.”

    CANELO PRESSER
The full press conference from last night’s victor is now available to watch.
And his assessment of how he won the fight is pretty clear: “Because I’m better.”

    MONEY SHOT
Canelo Alvarez’s win over Callum Smith moved him to 54-1 in his career.
The only person ever to have beaten him was the great Floyd Mayweather in 2013.

‘ONE OF THE BEST NIGHTS I’VE HAD’
Here’s what Canelo Alvarez said after a brutal demolition of Callum Smith.
“This is one of the best nights I have had. I will go for more.
“I want all the belts, it doesn’t matter who has them. I don’t run from anybody.
“I have fought against the best. I have shown the world I fight the best.”

    ABS-OLUTELY RIPPED
Fans were stunned by Canelo’s latest body transformation as he cut the bulk and appeared more shredded.
One said: “Canelo abs still ripped after rehydration.”
Another added: “Canelo is just solid, physique, power, skills and chin is solid. On his grave stone will read.. Solid.”
    One added: “Canelo looks SHREDDED!!!”

    GOING FOR GOL
Gennady Golovkin wants another crack at Canelo Alvarez in a trilogy bout, Eddie Hearn believes.
The promoter said: “I think he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez for the third time.
“We saw two tremendous fights first time up, he believes he should have won those fights.
“And I think he wants another crack at Canelo Alvarez.
“I think there’s some tremendous fights out there for him at 160lb. Demetrius Andrade, who’s here tonight, it’s a great unification matchup.
“Jaime Munguia would be a great fight for DAZN as well. But that’s the fight he’s chasing, he wants those legacy fights.”
Golovkin was controversially judged to have only drawn his first fight with Canelo despite the vast majority of viewers believing he had won.
However the Kazakh lost the second bout on points.

    LUKE-ING AHEAD
Callum Smith’s defeat to Canelo brings the curtain down on British boxing in 2020.
However fans won’t have long to wait for action in 2021 as Luke Campbell is back in action on January 2 against Ryan Garcia in an eagerly awaited WBA Interim Lightweight title fight.
Campbell has been out of action since 2019 when he battled bravely but succumbed to a points defeat to Vasyl Lomachenko.

    CAN YOU BELIEVE IT
The comparison between Canelo and Smith at the end told the story of the fight.
Despite going 12 rounds with the previously undefeated Merseysider, the Mexican looked super fresh afterwards with barely a scratch on his body.
But for Smith, he was battered, cut and bruised after the 36-minute onslaught in Texas.

    ‘IT PROBABLY DIDN’T MATTER’
Speaking after the fight DAZN hosts said Eddie Hearn had stated that Callum Smith had likely suffered a detached bicep during the fight with Canelo.
But Hearn added that it probably didn’t matter as far as the outcome was concerned.

    PUNCH DRUNK
Here are the astonishing punch stats from Canelo vs Smith.
The Mexican landed an incredible 43 per cent of his shots while Smith responded with just 18 per cent successful blows.
Though Alvarez threw only 484 punches compared to Smith’s 536, he managed to land more 209 compared to 97 – more than double that of his opponent.

    TER UP
After a brutal display from Canelo Alvarez, Twitter is rife with debate over whether he, or Terence Crawford is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Here are some of the responses.

I’m sorry for ever saying Crawford or anyone else in this world is even close to @Canelo man this dude is a monster.. domination! Not even close Canelo is #p4p 👑 Nobody in the world can beat him right now.
    — Tim Tzeo (@TimTzeo) December 20, 2020

My eyes tell me Crawford is better, the accomplishments say that Canelo (with Loma losing to Teo) is the number one p4p fighter in the world now. This was a real win, Smith is an in prime champ. #boxing
    — iiReal (@_iiReal) December 20, 2020

Canelo is so cold. Crawford and Spence look better stylistically and are in the conversation for best p4p fighters but Canelo got so much power and technique.
    — ev (@5whiteboy10) December 20, 2020

    DETACHED BICEP?
Callum Smith was left with a gruesome swollen bicep following his pummelling by Canelo Alvarez.
As he left the fight, one Twitter user even joked: “Smiths left arm tried to give birth so he had 3 hands to try and land a shot.”
In his post-bout interview the Scouser hinted that he had suffered a left arm injury in the fourth-round of their Texas clash.
And promoter Eddie Hearn also told DAZN minutes after the match-up that Smith had suffered a suspected detached bicep.
If true, he would almost-certainly be forced into having surgery ahead of the upcoming Christmas break.
It is understood the pair even smiled and joked about how swollen his arm was in the middle of their fight.

    ‘SHOWED TREMENDOUS HEART’
Eddie Hearn has taken to Twitter to have his say on the fight.

    DOWN BUT NOT OUT
Despite taking a beating from Canelo, there was praise for Callum Smith who kept going right to the end.
Boxing fans took to Twitter after the fight to suggest his corner could have considered throwing the towel in.

Callum Smith a brave fighter. Never stopped trying. Crazy that Canelo made him go four corners defense down the stretch. Full credit to him. #boxingv
    — Gabriel Montoya™ (@Gabriel_Montoya) December 20, 2020

Respect to Callum Smith for going out on his sword. Because his corner would’ve been justified if they stopped this two rounds ago. #Canelo
    — Flee Van Cleef ✡✝☯☪ (@BuchDa7od) December 20, 2020

    STANDING TALL
Canelo Alvarez was so comfortable during his win over Callum Smith that he was seen standing up between rounds.
Fans were in disbelief as the P4P King didn’t even take the opportunity to sit down in his corner during the breaks.

This man Canelo really standing up when he goes to his corner 😭😭😭
    — Kodak Ron (@iPrinceHaynes) December 20, 2020

Canelo doesn’t look like he’s in a fight. Barely broken a sweat. All standing up in his corner. #CaneloSmith
    — Kingfdot (@kingfdot) December 20, 2020

    LONG LIVE THE KING
It’s been a long wait, but Canelo looked like he’d never been away as he took a commanding points victory over Callum Smith.

    AP-PAUL-ING
Canelo has told Jake and Logan Paul he respects them for stepping in the ring, but he warns them to respect the sport of boxing.
Canelo told TMZ: “Ya know, it’s all about the money.
“I don’t think we would agree that people that are basketball players, that are YouTubers get licenses.
“Ya know, I don’t criticise [the Paul brothers]. This is a very risky sport, and if you go up there, it’s very risky.
“I truly believe that it’s a lack of respect. It’s all based on money. It’s all for money. I’m focused right now on other projects.
“I have other stuff going on, and I would invite him for a sparring session so that he truly knows what it’s all about.”

    P4P CHAMP
Canelo Alvarez looked abs-olutely unstoppable against Callum Smith as he conquered yet another division.
Canelo cemented his place atop of the mythical pound-for-pound rankings and emerged as a fully fledged four-division champion.
He walked away with Smith’s WBA super-middleweight title and handed the brave and resilient Brit his first career defeat.
The Mexican superstar had won the WBA’s secondary ‘Regular’ belt against Rocky Fielding in 2018.
But he needed Smith’s full version to lay claim as a champ in four different weights.

    ALL HAIL KATE
There has been plenty of well-deserving praise for the anchoring of Kate Abdo on DAZN’s boxing coverage tonight.
The stunning former Sky Sports News presenter made Brit fans remember what they’re missing out on.
Abdo has been working with Fox in the US, but has also been doing work for DAZN.
And she did a top job of keeping lively pundit Demetrius Andrade in line during the broadcast.

    MORE ON SMITH’S ARM
It doesn’t look good for the Brit after that bicep problem.
    Even he looks concerned…

    LET’S DO IT A-GENN
Gennady Golovkin ‘wants another crack at Canelo Alvarez’ in his next fight, promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed.
Canelo’s 2018 win against GGG is the only blemish on the Kazakh’s 43-bout career, which came a year after their contentious draw.
Having been unfortunate not to emerge the victor in both thrillers, according to several, Golovkin is keen on one more shot at revenge.
But if he is unable to lure his great rival into a trilogy bout, WBO champion Demetrius Andrade, 32, and Jaime Munguia, 24, are alternatives.
Hearn said: “I think he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez for the third time.

    DETACHED BICEP?
How grim is this image? Let’s hope Smith heals up quickly and completely.

The 30-year-old Liverpool-born fighter took the best of the now four-weight division champion’s best power shots.
But he hinted in his post-bout interview that he suffered a left arm injury in the fourth-round of their Texas clash.
His promoter Eddie Hearn also told DAZN minutes after the match-up that Smith had suffered a suspected detached bicep.
DAZN cameras picked up images of him rubbing his left arm.

His bicep appeared misshapen in these pictures.
Hearn told BBC Sport: “You just saw the pound-for-pound king.
“Callum Smith is so tough. I think he detached his bicep in the second or third round but it didn’t really matter.
“It was a masterclass from Canelo. I’m proud of Callum He never stopped throwing but he came up against the best fighter on the planet.”

If true, the Scouser would almost-certainly be forced into having surgery ahead of the upcoming Christmas break.
It is understood the pair even smiled and joked about how swollen his arm was in the middle of their fight.
Fans flocked to social media in shock of the injury, as Smith showed his gruesome arm in a live TV interview.
One viewer said: “They’re saying that Smith’s arm may have a detached bicep muscle. I mean…
And one joked: “Smiths left arm tried to give birth so he had 3 hands to try and land a shot.”

Another said: “Extra props to Callum Smith if it’s true that his bicep detached mid fight.
“Surviving in with Canelo is one thing, doing it with one arm is madness?”
Canelo hinted after the fight that he would be interested in taking on old rival Gennady Golovkin for a trilogy bout.

Jake Paul makes Michael Bisping offer of ‘millions’ which UFC legend ACCEPTS to come out of retirement in 185lb fight

FORMER UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping claims to have received a lucrative offer to box Jake Paul – and is up for the fight.
YouTube star Paul has been in the headlines this week due to his relentless pursuit of a boxing match with former two-weight UFC champ Conor McGregor.

YouTube superstar Jake Paul is aggressively pursuing a boxing match with Conor McGregor

Paul, 23, has also challenged McGregor’s team-mate Dillon Danis – who he recently pelted with water balloons – to meet him inside the ring.
McGregor has yet to respond to Paul’s barrage of call outs, a silence that appears to have prompted the outspoken YouTuber to offer Bisping a lucrative payday.
During the latest episode of his Believe You Me podcast, Bisping said: “Jake Paul, if you want to f**king go, Logan Paul, if you want to go, then I guess you have to put your hands in your pockets and man up.
“Because you’re talking s**t, you’re contacting my manager saying that you want to fight.

“Well, guess what, buddy? I’m here. I’m going nowhere. You want to fight someone? You want to test yourself? Hey, I’m 0-0 as a boxer. You’re saying you’re 1-0, you’re 2-0, I’m 0-0.
“At the end of the day, if you want to do this, stop playing games. You want to do it? I’ll do it. I’m here. No problem. Okay?”
Bisping, also known as ‘The Count’, retired from MMA two-and-a-half years ago following back-to-back losses to Georges St-Pierre and Kelvin Gastelum.
But the 41-year-old is adamant he’s still got what it takes to silence the brash Paul, who recently scored a viral KO over ex-NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson’s exhibition with Roy Jones Jr.

He added: “I’m almost 42-years old, I’m a former world champion and I will take you to school, my friend.
“And I’ll guarantee you this. You won’t get out of three rounds. That’s an absolute fact.
“You won’t get out of one round but we’ll say three just to give you that little insurance blanket.
“If this is a real offer, let me know and we’ll do it. 100 per cent. Logan Paul or Jake Paul, or both.”

Bisping was from impressed by Paul’s performance in his second pro fight, saying: “In my research and infinite wisdom of the fight game and after my extensive enquiries, I figured out his a bum and he’d be very easy to beat.
“But that said, he’s does have power, he is athletic, he is young. These are good things to have in the fight game.”
Bisping’s comments soon came to the attention of Paul, who proceeded to mock the Brit for his UFC 100 loss to Dan Henderson.
Alongside the infamous picture of Henderson flying through the air to land a strike on the unconscious Bisping, Paul tweeted: “@bisping my team is working on a melatonin brand deal for you and Nate [Diaz].”

Canelo Alvarez barely has scratch on him after 12 rounds while Callum Smith is battered in brutal post-fight comparison

CALLUM SMITH was battered by Canelo Alvarez after 12 brutal rounds in the ring.
But in comparison, the Mexican barely had a scratch on him and looked so fresh.

Callum Smith was left battered, bruised and cut up by his opponent in TexasCredit: Handout – Getty

Alvarez, 30, successfully stole the WBA super middleweight title and claimed the vacant WBC belt with a dominant display in Texas on Saturday night.
He beat the Brit with an unanimous-decision victory, inflicting the first defeat on Smith in his 28-fight pro career.
And the pictures told the story of the fight.
Canelo still looked incredibly fresh as he was announced the winner with no signs of any wear and tear from the 36-minute contest.

There were no cuts, blood or significant swelling for the 54-1-2 superstar.
But for Smith, the bludgeoning contest had taken its toll with significant damage done to the Liverpool star’s face.
As well as the battered face, Smith also suffered a horrific bulging arm during the fight which may require surgery.
In the end it proved to be 12 one-sided and fairly identical rounds as Canelo prevailed with too much power and precision for Smith.

The dominance was clear to see in the punching stats with the Mexican landing 209 of his 484 punches at a staggering 43 per cent while his opponent was way down at 18 per cent with 97 from 536.
After the win, the four-weight champ said: “I did a great job after 13 months out. Smith is a great fighter but I did a great job. I am so happy.
“I am the best in the world and from the first round I wanted to see what he brings but I showed what I am.”

The Mexican P4P superstar continued his streak as the most feared fighter on earth by beating Callum Smith last night.

He has only lost once in 56 bouts, to Floyd Mayweather, and has two draws on a near-perfect record.
The 30-year-old blasted the popular YouTube brothers – offering to take them on in training – despite branding them money-grabbers.
But he REFUSED a professional bout with either of the pair, as he searches for more world title glory.
Canelo told TMZ: “Ya know, it’s all about the money.

“I don’t think we would agree that people that are basketball players, that are YouTubers get licenses.
“I don’t criticize [the Paul brothers]. This is a very risky sport, and if you go up there, it’s very risky.
“No, I don’t want to fight them. I truly believe that it’s a lack of respect. It’s all based on money.
“It’s all for money. I’m focused right now on other projects.

How Logan Paul and little brother Jake compare

“I have other stuff going on, and I would invite him for a sparring session so that he truly knows what it’s all about.”
Canelo was scintillating during his fight with Smith, and even stood up between rounds.
And the punch stats showed how dominant he was, landing an astonishing 43 per cent of his shots.
