Conor McGregor will ‘spark Jake Paul and hurt him bad’, warns Saunders as he urges the UFC star to accept $50m fight

BILLY JOE SAUNDERS has warned Jake Paul that he will get ‘hurt bad’ if he steps into the ring with Conor McGregor.
A potential $50million bout has been teased by the YouTuber following his second professional boxing win over ex-NBA star Nate Robinson.

American YouTuber Paul has continued to call out the Irishman online

But WBO super middleweight champion Saunders has warned Paul, 23, that boxing is not a ‘playground’.
He told iFL TV: “You don’t really want them throwing punches at each other because I can see [McGregor] knock someone out before cold, that fella [Paul] never had a fight in his life.
“You can clearly see boxing is not a playground.
“I think Conor McGregor will spark him and hurt him bad in UFC or boxing.

“I still think Conor McGregor takes him bad, to be honest.
“If they’re looking at, what is it? 50 million? Conor McGregor should go and whoop his ass and take that off him because it’ll be very comfortable.

    “But it’s very dangerous.
“If they’re all going to make money and the promoters are going to put in on, who am I to say it’s not good?”

A host of MMA stars have been linked with facing Paul, including Michael Bisping and Amanda Nunes.
The American has dismissed the notion of fighting UFC pound-for-pound queen Nunes.
Instead, McGregor’s team-mate Dillon Danis appears to be the most likely candidate following a war of words between the pair.
But Paul has continued to call out the ‘Notorious’ for a mega bout.

He declared earlier this month: “My team sent you a $50million offer this morning, $50m cash, proof of funds, the biggest fight offer you’ve ever been offered.
“But you’re scared to fight me Conor. You duck me as you’re scared to fight a YouTuber.
    “You’re 0-1 as a boxer, I’m 2-0 as a boxer. I just came off the eighth-biggest pay-per-view event in history.”

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul credited for ‘creating attention that boxing hasn’t seen in a long time’ by Oscar De La Hoya

OSCAR DE LA HOYA credited Mike Tyson and Jake Paul for ‘creating attention that boxing hasn’t seen in a long time’.
The pair were in the headlines in November, as Tyson made his return to the ring after 15 years out, while Paul scored a viral knockout.

Iron Mike’s comeback, aged 54, and YouTuber Paul’s venture into boxing have both been criticised for various reasons.
But promoter De La Hoya – who is also planning to fight once again – was in full support of Tyson’s exhibition spectacle against Roy Jones Jr.
The 47-year-old boxer told Bloomberg: “It was entertainment.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that, for the first time in a long time, fans and people were congregating to watch an event.

“Mike Tyson is such an inspiration, he got in good shape and looked good.”
De La Hoya had a similar view on Paul, who is now 2-0 since turning professional at the start of 2020.
He said: “We’re appreciative of a Jake Paul who is a boxer now.
“He’s creating attention that boxing hasn’t seen in a long time.”

Tyson, 54, drew with Jones, 51, after eight rounds in what was his first fight since 2005.
But the night belonged to Paul, 23, who left ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 36, out cold and into a meme following a brutal KO.
And the social media phenomenon will return to the ring in 2021, having sent offers to retired UFC pair Ben Askren, 36, and Michael Bisping, 41.
Meanwhile, his older brother Logan, 25, is preparing to fight Floyd Mayweather, 43, in February.
The fellow internet sensation has fought only once as a pro, losing by split-decision to rival KSI, 27, with a two point deduction costing him the result.

Mike Tyson reveals his kids have become addicted to boxing after setting up FightCamp at home

MIKE TYSON revealed his kids have become addicted to boxing after he had fitness programme FightCamp set up in his home.
The heavyweight legend revealed he uses the interactive boxing workout regime in his house and cannabis ranch to help maintain fitness.

Tyson has the interactive boxing workout regime in his house and cannabis ranch

FightCamp helps calculate your workout by recording and tracking rounds, punch output and speed, among other stats.
And according to Iron Mike, it has helped inspire his daughter Milan, 12, and son Morocco, 9, to enjoy their father’s past time.
Tyson, 54, wrote on Instagram: “It was a cool way to introduce boxing to my kids and now I can’t keep them off it.
“It’s been a few months since we got it. I use it for combination drills and Milan & Morocco use the pre-programmed workouts.

“It helps @milantyson with pivot moves that help her tennis game. It helps my son, Morocco stay focused.
“They are both homeschooled so it’s a good way to get in more exercise.”
Tyson has six children, Mikey Lorna, 30, Rayna, 24, Amir, 23, Miguel, 18, Milan and Morocco.

And they watched as their iconic dad returned to the ring after 15 years out in November, and to massive pay-per-view success.

Tyson and Roy Jones Jr, 51, boxed to a draw over eight exhibition rounds in a fight that provided more clinching than punching.
Iron Mike confirmed afterwards that he will lace up the gloves as soon as possible, and even called for a rematch.
And it appears he is wasting no time in preparing for his next fight after recent footage emerged of Tyson hitting the pads with trainer Rafael Cordeiro.

Canelo Alvarez ‘in talks with Eddie Hearn over two-fight deal to take on Avni Yildirim followed by Billy Joe Saunders’

EDDIE HEARN is ‘discussing a two-fight deal’ for Canelo Alvarez to face Avni Yildirim and then Billy Joe Saunders.
Hearn promoted the Mexican’s last fight, where he beat Callum Smith for the WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine super-middleweight titles.

Now, Canelo has 90 days to defend his WBC crown against mandatory challenger Yildirim.
According to The Athletic, Hearn is negotiating with Alvarez’s manager and trainer Eddy Reynoso in a bid to promote their next two fights.
The first would be against Turk Yildirim, 29, in Canelo’s hometown, Guadalajara, Mexico on February 27.
And if Alvarez, 30, is successful in his defence, he would then be lined up with WBO champion Saunders, also 30, in a unification.

Hearn promotes the unbeaten Brit and had a deal in place for the southpaw to face Canelo this summer, until the coronavirus pandemic KO’d the clash.
Saunders returned to the ring in December, beating veteran Martin Murray and afterwards called to revive his fight with Canelo.
Alvarez himself wants to fight the 2008 Olympian, in a bid to unify the 168lb division.

Hearn is also hoping to tie down Alvarez’s immediate future to DAZN.

Canelo did have an 11-fight deal with Golden Boy Promotions to fight on the streaming service, but it was terminated this year.
Despite the legal dispute, Alvarez still fought Smith on DAZN and would also do the same against Yildirim and Saunders.

In trying to find the words to explain his loss, Tyson told stunned reporters in the ring that he had an injured back.
Iron Mike said at the time time: “I broke my back, my back is broken. Spinal!”
Now, 19 years later, the 54-year-old has tried to explain what he meant.
In an interview with Dan Cannobio of Compubox TV, Tyson said: “Well listen right, I have a bad back and since all of the work that I’ve put over the years, the spine in my back just starts shifting.

“I have to get the operation but the doctor said, ‘Hey eventually you’re gonna have to start bending over’.
“And so I was trying to explain my situation. I just wasn’t eloquent enough to explain it in the way I wanted it to be explained.”
Tyson is training again for the first time since his comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Tyson lets his hands go with rapid speed, slipping and rolling in between, showing off smart defence.
A separate clip revealed the iconic puncher working solely on his defence, slipping several shots coming his way before bouncing on his toes.

Jake Paul says Dillon Danis is ‘butt-hurt’ because YouTuber ‘hooked up with his girlfriend’ as he vows to KO MMA ace

JAKE PAUL has claimed that Dillon Danis is ‘butt-hurt’ because he hooked up with the Bellator star’s girlfriend, Savannah Montano.
YouTube sensation Paul is searching for his next opponent, having moved to 2-0 after knocking out ex-NBA player Nate Robinson in November.

UFC superstar Amanda Nunes has revealed that she’d be willing to crossover to boxing to fight Paul.
Yet the internet star shot down that idea and claimed he’s set his sights on facing Conor McGregor’s team-mate Danis.
When asked about fighting two-weight champion Nunes, Paul told TMZ Sports: “Nah, I wouldn’t fight her.
“Waste of time. No one knows who she is.

“There’s not a lot of hype there. Plus, there’s no history.
“I wanna knock out Dilon because we’ve been talkin’ s**t back and forth for 2 years, I’ve hooked up with his girlfriend, he’s all butt-hurt about it, there’s history there.”

Paul later revealed that fighting Danis Danis is his fastest ticket to a future “dream fight” with Conor McGregor.
The 23-year-old – who recently ambushed Danis, 27, and pelted him with water balloons – leaked a $500,000 offer to fight the MMA ace in March.

And Paul escalated their feud by FaceTiming the Bellator star’s girlfriend, Savannah Montano last week.
Instagram model Montano was left furious by the stunt and subsequently launched a scathing attack on him after footage of the call was made public.

She said: “I’m dead confused at some of you guys going, ‘Oh, but why did you answer his call?’
“As if I have his f**king number saved in my phone! It was literally a random number. You can literally see in the video, I’m like, ‘Who is this?’
“And as soon as I see his face I’m, like, ‘Eww, what the f? Like, stop, stop, stop, I’m literally f’ing nauseous, like, I’m gonna go throw up right now, like, ugh.'”

Anthony Joshua reveals plot to topple Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk and dominate heavyweight division

ANTHONY JOSHUA has hatched a three-point plan so he can dominate world heavyweight boxing.
AJ has the WBA, IBF and WBO belts and wants an undisputed double-header with Tyson Fury for his WBC strap.

The big Brit  is already plotting a future  route back to the WBO title  if Oleksandr Usyk makes him drop it to land the £500million two-fight Gypsy King deal.
Usyk, the 33-year-old undisputed cruiserweight king, has been Joshua’s mandatory challenger for that belt since 2018.
He wants a crack at the title or a massive step-aside fee to let the all-English clash take place.
Eddie Hearn — who promotes AJ and the Ukrainian southpaw — is pushing the idea of the first fight being for all four  titles.

The WBO belt would then be dropped so Usyk can contest it — and the two Englishman can settle their rivalry.
Joshua, 31,  already has a Plan A, B and C to get all of boxing’s alphabet soup to himself.
He pondered: “Will people care if I have to lose a belt to Usyk? Will I have to give one up? I am not too sure yet.
“I don’t want to, because it is ‘the road to undisputed’.

Tyson Fury won the WBC belt off Deontay Wilder and wants the all-English clash to take placeCredit: Getty Images

Oleksandr Usyk is the mandatory challenger for AJ’s WBO belt
“But I know that, when I win, I will go back and fight for that belt anyway — that will be my goal.
“I want to fight Fury, beat him again in the rematch — two difficult hurdles, serious fights — then I will go straight back to try to fight for that title again.”
Usyk told SunSport last week that he is considering letting the all-English battle take place as “it might be a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
But the 18-0 2012 Olympic heavyweight champion  has also got his  team working on the best possible deal.
He said: “I still want to fight Anthony Joshua for the title.
“There are many factors for this fight to happen. My team and all the participants and all their interested parties are already working on it.
“But there are still many  people who wish to fight him as well, like Tyson Fury.”
Deontay Wilder is still trying to force Fury into a trilogy fight, via lawyers in the US — or land a pay-off for ending their rivalry one fight early.
Hearn is confident Fury’s US promoter  Bob Arum will fend off Wilder’s final attack.
And then Joshua knows it will be up to him to pick between dropping the belt he beat Joseph Parker for in 2018 or shelling out a chunk of his potential £100m purse for Usyk to sit back.
He added: “I don’t know what Fury’s situation is with Wilder. My situation is, do I give up the WBO or will Usyk step aside?”

    Ring Magazine’s heavyweight rankings

Hearn said: “I do believe Wilder is appealing in the US courts but we don’t expect that to be a problem.
“Ultimately the big issue for Anthony  is he has a WBO mandatory now. We will be writing to the WBO to say you have an opportunity to be part of the biggest fight in boxing.
“And we’ll be speaking to Usyk to make sure he is happy with a potential resolution.”
