Amir Khan FINALLY wants to fight rival Kell Brook in 2021 and vows to ‘put him in his place’ and ‘shut him up for good’

AMIR KHAN is ready to FINALLY fight long-time rival Kell Brook in 2021 – and promised to ‘put him in his place’ and ‘shut him up for good’.
The pair have spent years calling each other out but have nothing to show for it as their score remained unsettled.

And just as it looked like talks were dead in the water, Khan has revived his interest after coming out swinging with fighting words.
He told the Khaleej Times: “I think with Kell Brook, who has always been running his mouth, I think put him in his place now.
“I think it is about time now to put him in his place and shut him up for good.”
The former world champions came close to agreeing a deal in 2018, only for Khan to instead face pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford at the last minute.

He went on to lose in round five, but bounced back a year later by beating Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia, but has not fought since.
Brook himself fought for Crawford’s WBO title this year, but like Khan was stopped by the unbeaten American.
The Brit pair, both 34, have been left staring retirement in the face, but Khan is adamant he is not yet ready to hang up the gloves.

He said: “No, no, the gloves are still on. I’m thinking of fighting probably next year.

“This year was a bit of a bad year for everybody. And boxing was off. They wanted to fight behind closed doors.
“I didn’t really feel like I could motivate myself, but hopefully, if it opens up next year, we can make something happen.
“I want to fight again around March or April and there are so many names out there, there are so many deals on the table, in the Middle East as well. So, let’s see how that plays out.
“I enjoy the sport, still. Honestly, I would be lost without it. I love waking up in the morning, training, running.
“My life is all about boxing and I’ve never really thought about retiring. It’s hard for me to walk away from it.”

Conor McGregor is ‘Muhammad Ali of UFC’, claims boxing coach as he breaks down how he can beat Dustin Poirier

CONOR McGREGOR’S boxing coach called the Irishman ‘the Muhammad Ali of the UFC’.
Irish Olympic legend Phil Sutcliffe was the first man to train McGregor, when the future star walked into the Crumlin Boxing Club aged 12.

But after the southpaw superstar chose to pursue professional MMA, the pair drifted apart.
That was until this year, for the first time in his UFC career, McGregor was corned by Sutcliffe, who took control of the boxing training during the camp.
Having worked with The Notorious right from the beginning, the veteran coach has witnessed first hand his equally devastating aura and skillset.
And he gave McGregor the highest compliment of all as he compared him to The Greatest.

Sutcliffe told TheMacLife: “I tell most of our boxers, learn how to read, learn how to see the shots coming. He has that with fine art.
“He’s the Muhammad Ali of the UFC.”
Sutcliffe admitted McGregor was always a student of the game – but has also worked hard to fine tune his craft.

Phil Sutcliffe pictured with McGregor’s head trainer John Kavanagh

McGregor on the pads with veteran coach Sutcliffe

He explained: “It’s a bit of both.

‘He always had the ability to not get hit and reading the punches even as a child.
“He is able to move his head, bob, weave, and the work ethic of him is unbelievable.”
McGregor, 32, linked back up with Sutcliffe in the summer of 2019 and brought him into his team for his last fight.
There, the former two-weight champion knocked out Donald Cerrone, 37, in just 40 seconds in January but was unable to fight again after.
McGregor will make his return 12 months on, as he rematches Dustin Poirier in a lightweight headliner at UFC 257 on Fight Island.
Poirier, 31, was KO’d inside two minutes of their first fight in 2014 at featherweight.

And Sutcliffe has warned McGregor’s power has only improved since then.
He said: “Conor will be able to get his shots or his kicks or anything in there like he did the last time.
“Now hopefully he’s more powerful now than he was – Conor’s more powerful now and so will the other guy be a little more powerful because he’s had to put on a bit of weight.
“But Conor’s skill’s percentage towards Poirier’s skill percentage is much bigger.
“Not saying it’s going to be an easy fight, but Conor has the skill and the strength now.
“He’s stronger now than he was the last time he fought him.
“Conor hits very, very hard, but precise with technique. He hits with precision.”

Watch awkward moment Mike Tyson says Floyd Mayweather will ‘beat Logan Paul’s f***ing ass’ while sat next to YouTuber

MIKE TYSON awkwardly predicted Floyd Mayweather will ‘beat Logan Paul’s f***ing ass’ despite sitting right next to the YouTuber.
Money is coming out of retirement in February to fight in what he hopes will be the richest fight of all time.

Mike Tyson did not hold back when he was asked to give his prediction for Logan Paul’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather

He predicted the YouTuber will get his ‘ass kicked’ – despite being sat next to him

Mayweather retired as the undisputed box office king, selling 29million PPVs during his iconic 50-0 career.
His 2015 win over Manny Pacquiao smashed the record with 4.6m sold, with his fight against UFC star Conor McGregor two years later coming in at 4.4m.
Both made close to £700m in revenue – but Solomon Engel, Founder and CEO of Fanmio, who are bringing Mayweather out of retirement, has already told SunSport they expect to topple those numbers.
Paul, 25, made his professional debut with a defeat to fellow social media star KSI in November 2019.

But that has not stopped him from signing up to take on arguably boxing’s best ever.
He might think he stands a chance against Mayweather in what is likely to be an exhibition fight comprising six three-minute rounds.
But former heavyweight champion Tyson, who recently made his own impressive comeback against Roy Jones Jr, has no doubt Paul will end up badly beaten.
And the Baddest Man on the Planet did not hold back when he was asked for his prediction during an interview alongside Paul.

How Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul compare ahead of their fight

When the anchor asked Tyson about the Mayweather vs Paul fight, he declared: “Floyd’s gonna beat his f***ing ass.”
That was met with huge laughter from the audience, but he did add: “There’s nothing good, he’s gonna fight back though, he’ll fight back.”
Paul shared the clip on his Twitter account, captioning the snippet with: “Almost bit his ear off for this @miketyson.” More

Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell tale of the tape: How boxers compare ahead of huge lightweight bout this weekend

BRITAIN’S Luke Campbell finally goes one-on-one with Ryan Garcia this weekend as 2021 kicks-off in explosive fashion.
The huge clash was supposed to take place on December 5 in California but was postponed for a month after the Englishman tested positive for coronavirus.

The winner will be crowned the new WBC lightweight champion.
But how do the pair stack up against each other ahead of Saturday’s showdown?
    Age
At 11 years Campbell’s junior, Garcia appears to have age on his side.
But Britain’s Olympic gold medallist certainly has the upper hand when it comes to experience.

Despite his legion of fans, many critics have argued Garcia has still not faced anyone of elite calibre.
Campbell has come undone whenever he has stepped up in class previously, losing to Vasiliy Lomachenko, Jorge Linares and Yvan Mendy – although he did go on to avenge that defeat.
Now we will find out whether he has learned his lessons from his battles with those big names, or whether Garcia can back up his talk and silence his doubters.

    How they compare

    Physicality
Southpaw Campbell is well-renowned as a good boxer-puncher.
But despite recording 16 knockouts from his 23 pro fights, many still feel he is just below the true top-level elite of the sport.
Meanwhile, Garcia is widely-regarded as perhaps having the fastest hands in boxing.
And if he can connect right, that could easily lead to him recording his 18th KO win.
    Record
Garcia has shot to stardom with an impressive 20-0 start to life as a pro.
But as stated above, even though he has 17 KOs to his name already, a lot of his critics believe he has never tested himself against a true top star yet.
That chance arrives on Saturday against Campbell.
After winning Gold at the 2012 Olympics, Campbell made a fine start to his life as a professional before losing his unbeaten streak in his 13th fight against Mendy.
He has gone on to lose twice more since then, one of which came last time out via unanimous decision to Lomachenko last year.
His record stands at 20 wins from his 23 matches, with 17 coming via KO. More

Artur Beterbiev tests positive for coronavirus with January world title fight against Adam Deines postponed

ARTUR BETERBIEV has had his world title fight against Adam Deines postponed after testing positive for coronavirus.
The Russian was due to defend his WBC and IBF light-heavyweight crowns on January 30 in Moscow.

But the new rearranged date of the bout is still unknown as Beterbiev’s nightmare 2020 took another bad twist.
He has not fought since beating Oleksandr Gvozdyk in October 2019 – 14 months ago – to take his record to 15-0, with all 15 by knockout.
Canelo Alvarez could have taken on Beterbiev then but instead the Mexican ducked him to dispatch an easier Russian opponent in the shape of Sergey Kovalev.
Beterbiev, 35, was due to take on Fanlong Meng in a defence of his crowns earlier this year before Covid-19 and visa issues wiped out that fight.

His fight with German Deines was then originally put in the diary for October 23.
However, a broken rib for the Russian boxer delayed it until the end of January.
And now his positive coronavirus test result has pushed it back further.
Both the Meng and Deines clashes were simply seen as fights to keep Beterbiev active before a blockbuster 2021.

Plenty of fans want to see him go up against 17-0 compatriot and WBA champ Dmitry Bivol next year.
Another option could be the winner of the Joe Smith Jr vs Maxim Vlasov fight for the vacant WBO belt scheduled for February 13.
Haitian Canadian star Jean Pascal – who holds the WBA (Regular) and WBC Silver light-heavyweight titles – may also be in contention.

Tyson Fury and wife Paris wear matching £1k Versace outfits for their date night following family Christmas

TYSON FURY and wife Paris showed off his and hers £1,000 Versace outfits on a Christmas ‘date night’.
The boxing champion shared a photo on Instagram of the pair looking dapper in their expensive clobber.

Tyson is well-known for his love of a dazzling suit and of course those pink trousers.
And it seems his fashion sense is running off on his better half.
Fury has been keeping up his training over the festive season as he hopes to close in on an undisputed clash against Anthony Joshua.
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has said that fight has been ‘verbally agreed’ but there is just the small matter of sorting out the millions of pounds to be involved.

The blockbuster bout is likely to take place between next May or June after a breakthrough in negotiations.
And of course with the UK still in the grip of coronavirus, it means that super-fight could happen abroad.
The US, Saudia Arabia and even China have been touted as possible locations.
AJ overcame his first obstacle by breezing past Kubrat Pulev last weekend while Fury remains in a legal battle with Deontay Wilder over their failed trilogy of fights.

Another obstacle preventing the deal is the fact Oleksandr Usyk is currently the mandatory challenger for AJ’s WBO belt.
Hearn has previously admitted that both fighters could ditch their belts, from the four major sanctioning bodies, if they try to block the undisputed decider.
Two days before Christmas the Gypsy King took inspiration from Dark Knight Rises villain Bane as he trained in the dark alone.
Tom Hardy’s 2012 Batman character famously told the DC hero that he was ‘born’ in the dark.
And the Gypsy King appeared to be motivated by Bane as he uploaded a video on Twitter working out in pitch black.
Fury, 32, said: “Training in the dark alone, because I was born in the dark.
“I train alone, because no one’s going to help me when I’m in there fighting for my life.”

Canelo won’t do Gennady Golovkin ‘any favours’ as coach says GGG must fight outside middleweight for first time

GENNADY GOLOVKIN has been told he must fight outside of the middleweight division for the first time to secure a Canelo Alvarez trilogy.
The rivals had a pair of thrillers at 160lb, with Canelo emerging the victor in their 2018 rematch, having escaped with a draw a year prior.

With both fights failing to crown a decisive winner, fans have clamoured for a third instalment.
But, since then, Canelo has moved up as high as light-heavyweight before settling at super-middleweight and unifying titles.
Now his trainer and manager Eddy Reynoso insists they will refuse to do GGG ‘any favours’ by forcing the Kazakh great up to 168lb.
Reynoso told BoxingScene: “Saul Alvarez is going to fight at 168 pounds moving forward.

“We’re not doing any favours to Golovkin or anybody else in coming down in weight to 160 pounds.”
Canelo, 30, has now won titles in FOUR divisions, most recently defeating Callum Smith for the WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine super-middleweight belts.
Golovkin, 38, on the other hand, has only campaigned at middleweight, and currently holds the IBF title, which had been vacated by Alvarez.
GGG returned to the ring with a stoppage victory against Kamil Szeremeta 24 hours before Canelo dominated Britain’s Smith.

Alvarez now has 90 days to defend his WBC belt against mandatory challenger Avni Yildirim, 29, with talks between the two already underway.
He is then primed to headline on Cinco de Mayo on May 5, with Golovkin, Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant competing to fight the Mexican.
Reynoso confirmed Canelo is up for a third fight with arch rival Triple-G but only on his terms.
He said: “Golovkin has been fighting lower-level fighters lately. Canelo has been fighting the very best.
“We’re the A-side now. We’ll see what comes out of negotiations. We’re waiting on offers.
“We don’t have anything secured yet. We’re open to a fight with Golovkin at 168 pounds.”
