Anthony Joshua ‘locked in’ as he trains for potential Tyson Fury blockbuster in weighted vest and chains

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s sights are firmly set on a blockbuster showdown with Tyson Fury.
The unified heavyweight champion’s long-awaited Battle of Britain with The Gypsy King moved a huge step closer to coming to fruition earlier this month when he successfully defended his titles with a ninth-round KO of Kubrat Pulev.

Negotiations over the super-fight are currently ongoing, with both fighters’ camps confident an agreement will soon be reached.
With a potential legacy-defining fight with Fury right around the corner, Joshua has wasted no time in getting back to the gym.
The Olympian shared snaps of his latest workout to his official Instagram page on Wednesday night.
And it wasn’t one for the fainthearted.

One snap showed AJ appearing to finish a one-arm press-up whilst wearing a weighted vest and an additional weight chain.
The second showed Joshua staring into the camera whilst wearing the equipment, which added a considerable amount of bulk to his already heavy frame.
The post’s accompanying caption included a padlock emoji and the word “in” – meaning he’s locked in on his next mission.
Joshua followed up that post with an update to his Instagram story, which included a post-sparring snap with cruiserweight prospect Stephen Adentan.

Although Joshua’s showdown with Fury has yet to be finalised, the Olympic gold medallist is confident he will share the ring with the WBC heavyweight champion next year.
In a guest column for Boxing News, Joshua said: “How close is the Fury fight? I promise you it’s happening.
“But until you hear it from me, don’t buy into anything. I’m serious about the fight so when I announce it you’ll know it’s real.
“I’m taking my time because there has been a lot of back-and-forth for years.

“I’ve been chasing this road to ‘undisputed’ and when the time is right I’ll announce it and I’ll have my mind fully focused on the job at hand.
“When it was Deontay Wilder in my way, that was my focus and he admitted we gave him lucrative offers that he turned down.
“Now it’s Tyson Fury that’s my pure focus. The offers will be made, substantial offers.
“I’ve fought many champions before so it’s obvious to see we’ve done business with world champions before.
“It’s no different with Fury, he should take this fight with both hands. The money will be split down the middle.”

Mike Tyson scoffs four grams of magic mushrooms after smoking joint on Logan Paul podcast as legend opens up on drug use

MIKE TYSON caused a stir after scoffing four grams of magic mushrooms on Logan Paul’s podcast.
The legendary former heavyweight world champion also smoked a joint before ingesting the mind-bending mushrooms.

Mike Tyson guzzled magic mushrooms as he appeared on Logan Paul’s podcast

The legendary former heavyweight also smoked a joint on air

Tyson waited just FIVE minutes into the podcast before chewing his way through the magic mushrooms after being offered them by Paul’s Impaulsive podcast co-host Mike Majlak.
It led Tyson to declare his support for them to be made legal, adding ‘it’s going to be the best thing in the 21st century’ and that they ‘help me be a better me’.
Indeed, Tyson claimed he is a regular magic mushroom user and even knocked some back days before his comeback exhibition against Roy Jones Jr last month.
Tyson has made no secret of his drug history, having been a regular cocaine user in his prime.

He is a huge advocate for marijuana and even runs his own cannabis business.
Tyson also revealed earlier this month he took the psychedelic ‘Toad Venom’ drug to help him get in shape for his first fight in 15 years.
He said: “I took the medicine and the medicine told me to get into shape.
“It really blew my mind. It told me to come back and start getting in shape.”

Tyson also had a prediction for Paul’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather on the podcast.
Despite talking directly to the YouTuber, Tyson hilariously claimed Mayweather was going to ‘beat his f***ing ass!’.
Tyson added: “There’s nothing good, he’s gonna fight back though, he’ll fight back.”

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury WILL go ahead – but Covid-19 remains biggest obstacle to mega-fight happening in 2021

COVID-19 is the biggest obstacle stopping Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury getting made in 2021.
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed the all-English heavyweight undisputed decider will only take place in the UK if 90,000 paying fans are allowed in Wembley.

With coronavirus and the worrying new strains flooring that plan, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar have been leading the race to host the first-leg of the planned double header.
But travel and lockdown restrictions across the globe are changing all the time, leaving the biggest fight in British history playing catch-up with the pandemic.
Hearn told DAZN: “We are close, contracts have been going backwards and forwards.
“The main thing is to get an agreement in place but we are in a very difficult period right now where we don’t know where we can get crowds for that time of year, May or June.

“The first thing to do is agree terms in full and then to go out and secure a date and venue for that fight.”
With WBA, IBF and WBO king Joshua having broadcast deals with Sky in the UK and DAZN and around the globe – and undefeated WBC boss Fury being tied to their direct rivals BT Sport in Britain and ESPN in the US – negotiations were expected to be tense.
But Hearn, who is dealing with Fury’s promoters Bob Arum and Frank Warren, revealed they are running smoothly so far.
He said: “Things have been progressing really well over the last week, with things like terms and agreements.

“And I really believe you will see that fight at the end of May or early June in 2021.
“Everyone is working well and in the right direction.”

The 17 most explosive sporting bust-ups in 2020 including Keane vs Klopp, Lloris vs Son and Tyson Fury vs SPOTY

WE all know 2020 has been a year like no other – but we can still rely on sport to provide a sense of normality with explosive bust-ups galore.
From boxing heavyweights to fighting team-mates to Jurgen Klopp over and over again, the last 12 months have certainly delivered.

Hugo Lloris vs Son Heung-min was one of the biggest bust-ups of the yearCredit: Sky Sports

Jurgen Klopp was involved in his fair share of spats with fellow managers, broadcasters and punditsCredit: Sky Sports

So SunSport takes a look back over some of the most bonkers, bizarre and brutal clashes of the year…
    Hugo Lloris vs Son Heung-min
Where else can we start? Arguably the biggest in-match bust-up of the year came just before half-time in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Everton in July.
Spurs goalkeeper Lloris was furious with his team-mate’s failure to press and attempt to win the ball back.
And he raced up to Son as the teams headed down the tunnel, shouting furiously and shoving the South Korean – before things continued in the dressing room.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min separated by team mates after furious row during Everton clash
    Roy Keane vs Jurgen Klopp
Just like in his playing days, Keane refuses to dodge an argument and is not afraid to speak his mind during his punditry.
The Sky Sports man labelled Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Arsenal in September as ‘sloppy’ with Klopp taking exception to the assessment and firing back – forcing Keane to clarify.
He added: “I said there were sloppy moments, but I think you have been outstanding, I’ve been giving the club nothing but praise. I’m not sure you’ve heard me correctly.”

Roy Keane was at his prickly best throughout the year during his work with Sky SportsCredit: Sky Sports
The Irishman then muttered: “Very sensitive, imagine if he’d lost,” once Klopp had gone.

Keane also clashed with presenter Dave Jones over his beard as well as fellow pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.
    Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev
Joshua got back inside the ropes for the first time in a year when he saw off Pulev in December.
But the Bulgarian certainly got under AJ’s skin at the weigh-in with his trash talk.

Kubrat Pulev did plenty of talking at the weigh-in with Anthony Joshua but the Brit had the final word come fight nightCredit: ©Mark Robinson/Matchroom
Tensions rose and tempers flared as the Brit branded his opponent a ‘p****’ and they were pulled apart.
Joshua had the last word, though, with a ninth-round knockout to retain his world titles.
    Lionel Messi vs Barcelona
Messi’s fallout with the Barcelona board almost led to one of the most incredible transfers of all time.
Poor results on the pitch and power struggles off it, as well as the treatment of close pal Luis Suarez, led the captain and legend to hand in a transfer request and threaten legal action to force an exit.

Fans revolted and demanded president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s head instead – eventually getting their way as Messi made a dramatic U-turn to see out the final year of his contract.
But things are far from resolved and the six-time Ballon d’Or winner may well still leave the Nou Camp next summer.
    Eric Dier vs Tottenham fan
In one of the most dramatic moments of the sporting year, Dier clambered his way up the stand at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following the FA Cup penalty shootout defeat by Norwich in March.
The England star’s frustrations boiled over at one fan’s repeated ‘f*** you’ right in front of Dier’s brother so he confronted him.

It landed the Spurs defender in hot water with the FA, who banned him for four matches and fined him £40,000.
Speaking on the Amazon Prime documentary, he said: ““Our parents have to stand there and have someone two rows in front call you a c*** and f***ing son of a b****, and a p**** and s*** and this — and they think it’s OK.”
    Tyson Fury vs SPOTY
All the way back in February, in the pre-lockdown age, Fury dethroned Deontay Wilder to become WBC heavyweight champion of the world.
That spectacular night in Las Vegas earned the Gypsy King a spot on the six-name shortlist for the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year award.

Tyson Fury pleaded with his fans not to vote for him in the BBC Sports Personality of the YearCredit: Instagram @gypsyking101
But he demanded he was removed – which the Beeb rejected – before telling his fans not to vote for him.
Thankfully for all involved, the public toed Fury’s line and crowned Lewis Hamilton the champ.
    John Fury vs David Haye
Staying with the Fury family… despite his new love of poker, Haye insisted he doesn’t like to bet and was in no mood to accept Fury Sr’s wager.
In a fiery exchange before his son’s rematch with Wilder, Fury was willing to stump up £100,000 to back the Gypsy King – but Haye, who fancied the Bronze Bomber, was having none of it.
And John was back in November to challenge Haye yet again, this time offering odds of 2-1 that Fury Jr would beat Anthony Joshua – if he bet £1million.
Haye’s response? “No, let’s definitely not go with £1m.”

“Shall we start with £1,000,000?!” 🤬”No, let’s definitely not go with £1,000,000!” 😂Big John Fury tried to make ANOTHER bet with David Haye, this time about #FuryAJ…Full episode of the Heavyweight Debate drops tomorrow night! pic.twitter.com/iXBMGJbMsn

    Jurgen Klopp vs Frank Lampard
Klopp has enjoyed his fair share of arguments over the course of 2020 – as well as lifting the Premier League trophy.
In fact, it was on the same night they finally got their hands on the silverware that Klopp and Lampard went at it on the touchline.
A questionable refereeing decision against Chelsea had the Blues boss seething and it resulted in a fiery exchange between the pair, with Lampard telling Klopp to ‘sit down’ before getting more irate when the Reds gaffer repeatedly instructed him to ‘calm down’.

Lampard then hit back: “If he’s going off at me I’ll f****** say something,” before turning to Klopp’s assistant Pep Lijnders and shouting: “You can f*** off and all.”
Afterwards, Lampard labelled Liverpool ‘arrogant’ while Klopp responded by warning his opposite number he ‘has a lot to learn’.
    Danny Rose vs Jose Mourinho
The All or Nothing series also revealed details of Rose’s bust-up with manager Mourinho – which resulted in a loan to Newcastle last season and being banished to the Under-23s this term.
The left-back confronted his boss about a lack of playing time in Mourinho’s office at their Enfield training base.

Rose fumed: “Gaffer, I was just wondering what the problem is? You know exactly what I mean. How I’m being treated.
“You know I was very excited when you came in as manager but if you don’t want me to play I’d rather you just tell me now and I’ll stay at home gaffer and I’ll train at home.”
    Gary Anderson vs Mensur Suljovic
There may not have been dressed-up Shreks, Christmas trees or bananas at Ally Pally this time around – but there is still plenty of spice.
Anderson hit out at Suljovic’s excruciating slow play and placing his darts on the wrong table in their December World Championship grudge match.

And the Flying Scotsman was so angry he threatened to QUIT the sport if he felt he was ever subjected to similar ‘joke’ gamesmanship tactics again.
    Mark Noble vs West Ham
Noble let rip at his own employers when they announced the sale of exciting youngster Grady Diangana to rivals West Brom.
The decision sparked fury among the London club’s supporters – angry at one of their brightest prospects being offloaded to bring in funds.
Captain Noble took to Twitter to vent his frustration – with his tweet ‘liked’ by Declan Rice – saying: “As captain of this football club I’m gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future!”

West Ham captain Mark Noble made his feelings clear after the club sold Grady Diangana to West Brom
    Dani Ceballos vs David Luiz
Ceballos has certainly been at the thick of things off the pitch for Arsenal this season – more so than on it.
The Spaniard had been going in hard on some of the younger players, forcing Luiz and Rob Holding to step in during one training session in November.
But tempers boiled over to the point where a scuffle unfolded and the Brazilian drew blood from the on-loan midfielder’s face.
During the warm-up before the opening-day victory against Fulham back in September, Ceballos left a foot in on Eddie Nketiah resulting in a pushing match between the pair.

Arsenal’s season had not even got underway when Dani Ceballos clashed with Eddie Nketiah during the warm-up at Fulham
Nick Kyrgios vs Novak Djokovic & Alexander Zverev
One of the most controversial moves of 2020 was the organisation of the Adria Tour in Europe during the height of the pandemic.
World No1 Djokovic and other top players gathered with fans and no social distancing – then a number tested positive for coronavirus, including the Serb.

Outspoken Aussie Kyrgios slammed Djokovic as ‘bone-headed’ then labelled fellow pro Alexander Zverev as ‘selfish’ after he was spotted partying six days after saying he would self-isolate.
Djokovic’s disqualification from the US Open was also a major event of the sporting year as he was booted out of the tournament for carelessly hitting a ball into a line judge’s throat.
    Jurgen Klopp vs Des Kelly
Klopp is back once again for his final bust-up of the year – as he went toe to toe with BT Sport’s Des Kelly.
In similar fashion to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just weeks earlier, the Anfield boss raged at the broadcast company for scheduling his side in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off slot – citing the lack of recovery time for the high numbers of injuries to his squad.
But Kelly refused to back down and stood his, and the industry’s, ground admirably in the live on-air row.

    Ronnie O’Sullivan vs Mark Allen
O’Sullivan is never too far away from a spot of controversy and so it proved during his Champion of Champions quarter-final clash with Mark Allen in November.
The Rocket claimed his opponent had stood up and was ‘moving in my eyeline’ – but Allen strenuously denied any gamesmanship and accused O’Sullivan of ‘bullying’ behaviour.
But it was the Essex man who came off worse, going on to lose the frame and therefore the match.

    Karim Benzema vs Vincius Jr
As one of the most senior players at Real Madrid, it was not a great look from Benzema when he claimed team-mate Vinicius Jr was ‘playing against us’.
The French striker was talking to his compatriot Ferland Mendy in the tunnel at half-time of the 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.
Benzema said: “Don’t play with him. On my mother’s life, he [Vinicius] is playing against us.”
Incredibly, boss Zinedine Zidane claimed his No9’s outburst was a ‘good thing’ and denied any rift between the two players.

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs FIFA
Despite being used in EA Sports’ flagship game for years and years, suddenly Ibrahimovic decided he had had enough and kicked up a storm when FIFA 21 was released.
The Swede questioned how the developers managed to get the rights to his name and likeness for the game and called for an investigation.
Mino Raiola, Gareth Bale and allegedly another 300 players supported the move to get to the bottom of the issue – but EA defended their position due to the deals they have in place with clubs and leagues.

Other notable mentions must also go to Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn’s spat with his former man Kell Brook.
There is also the ongoing feud between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United on one side with Paul Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola on the other as well as UFC man Colby Covington threatening to make LeBron James ‘eat the canvas’.

Oscar De La Hoya, 47, calls out Floyd Mayweather, 43, for ‘revenge fight’ as he plans to come out of retirement

OSCAR DE LA HOYA has called out boxing legend Floyd Mayweather for a ‘revenge fight’ as he plans his big comeback.
De La Hoya is poised to follow in Mike Tyson’s footsteps and return to the sport that saw him become a multi-weight world champ.

The 47-year-old has already called out Gennadiy Golovkin, bizarrely claiming it would be ‘easy’ to beat the Kazakh warrior.
He has also being linked with fighting Marcos Maidana as well as Canelo Alvarez following their acrimonious split.
But a shot at redemption is what De La Hoya seemingly wants most. He lost on a split decision to Mayweather in 2007.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, the ‘Golden Boy’ said: “I’ve always prided myself in fighting the very best, and why go after the second-best?.

‘Why not go after the guy that beat [Canelo]? Why not go after [Floyd] Mayweather, for instance, in a revenge fight?
“That’s something that’s very intriguing. We’ll see how I feel, and then we’ll take it from there.”
Mayweather, 43, has other things to prepare for before De La Hoya as he fights YouTuber Logan Paul in an exhibition on February 20.
Mayweather, 43, has not fought as a pro since 2017, when he beat UFC star Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.

He did come back a year later, taking out featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in round one of their exhibition.
De La Hoya, meanwhile, last fought in 2008 when he was pulled out by his corner at the end of the eighth round against Manny Pacquiao.
But ‘Golden Boy’, who has been teasing a return for months, will go down in history as one of the sport’s best ever.
De La Hoya is a SIX-WEIGHT world champ, having won belts at super feather, light, light welter, welter, light middle and middleweight.

Joshua vs Fury predictions: Boxing legends including Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather and Carl Froch on who wins fight

THE undisputed title decider between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has divided opinions across the UK and the world.
Britain’s two heavyweight rulers have verbally agreed to a double header of fights next year.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed to a two-fight deal in 2021

The undisputed title decider between Joshua and Fury has divided opinions

Even though they both have further mandatory defences lined up, the pair are desperate to unify the division once and for all.
And the split verdicts on who will emerge with all four of the world titles has only added to the pre-fight debate.
Here SunSport runs down some of the most heavyweight of predictions as stars choose their winner.
    MIKE TYSON
Iron Mike has backed his namesake to prevail against AJ when the pair meet inside the ring.

Tyson said: “He is the best heavyweight champion of the world since myself. He is the man, I don’t care what anybody says.”
The Baddest Man on the Planet also left AJ off his list of his top five current boxers.
    Prediction: Fury

    FLOYD MAYWEATHER
Mayweather was credited for bringing the money to the smaller division – and it appears he still has little affection for the heavyweights.

He said: “We talking about Anthony Joshua, hell of a fighter. Tyson Fury, hell of a fighter.
“It doesn’t matter who wins, if I’m not getting paid that’s none of my business.”
    Prediction: Couldn’t care less

Floyd Mayweather admitted he does not care who wins between Fury or Joshua
    GEORGE FOREMAN
The former two-time world heavyweight champion sees no way in which AJ can prevail.
He said: “That boy Tyson Fury, you’re going to have to bring everything you’ve got to beat him.
“I’m going to be honest with you – I just can’t see Joshua beating him.”
    Prediction: Fury

    ROY JONES JR
The American four-division great – who amazingly won the heavyweight belt in 2003 – sat on the fence but did appear to suggest Fury is favourite.
Jones said: “I’m not saying Fury is as good as Ali skill-wise but he has a mind like Ali. With a mind like that, he can be anybody.
“I think it was at a local show I saw him at and I said to him: ‘If you just give yourself to boxing for five years, you’ll be amazed and you’ll beat all these guys.’
“I love him to death. I’m so happy for him and proud of him that he was able to do it.
“I see him as the No1 and I think him against Joshua is a good fight.”
    Prediction: Fury… just about.

Roy Jones Jr believes Fury is the No1 heavyweight in the world
    TONY BELLEW
Only one winner for the Bomber.
He said: “The top three heavyweights today, if you’re going on what they’re actually doing, you can’t really knock Tyson Fury for what he’s doing since he’s come back. I understand why people have him No1.
“I have to put Fury No 1, but I still think AJ beats him. Styles make fights, and I think AJ’s style is all wrong for Fury.”
    Prediction: Joshua

Tony Bellew has backed pal Joshua to defeat Fury
    BERNARD HOPKINS
Following lessons learned from AJ’s loss to Andy Ruiz Jr, Hopkins has not only backed him to win – but to knock out Fury and ‘make a serious statement’.
He said: “He redeemed himself. Now that is in his memory – what not to do ever again – Joshua beats Fury by knockout late.
“It will be an interesting, exciting five or six rounds at the beginning. Then Joshua’s athleticism, boxing IQ and experience would overwhelm Fury.
“Joshua would come out of a dust-storm based on his experience.
“At this point he has to make a really serious statement based on [the Ruiz defeat]. Redemption.”
    Prediction: Joshua

    WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO
Klitschko, who lost to both men, spoke earlier this year about his prediction.
He said: “Joshua is a superior athlete, great fighter, Olympic champion.
“Most importantly, he’s a great guy, who carries the torch of this image of a heavyweight champion perfectly. I’m proud to call him as a friend, even though we were [rivals].
“And I think and I wish that eventually Joshua is going to unify all of the belts. That’s the eventual plan.”
    Prediction: Joshua

Wladimir Klitschko thinks Joshua will rule over the division

    CARL FROCH
Froch thinks Joshua could upset the bookies’ odds.
He told Sky Sports: “I think the only way that Anthony Joshua can win this fight is by stoppage.
“He can’t outbox Fury, who is too good at range. He throws punches from all angles and he’s so awkward.
“But Joshua is an Olympic gold medallist with strong fundamentals and he’s got combination punches with real aggression.
“If he produces the same finishing instinct that he’s shown in past fights, then he can beat Fury.
“AJ can get him out of there, I think he can, because you saw bursts of his aggression in the Kubrat Pulev fight.
“If AJ maintains that, there’s a chance he could stop him, but the problem is, if he doesn’t stop Fury then he’s going to lose on points.”
    Prediction: Joshua KO

    TEDDY ATLAS
The legendary trainer admits it’s too early to make a sure-fire prediction but tipped Fury to win at this point in time.
He said: “If you do the easy pick for 90 per cent of the people you ask, you’d probably pick Fury.
“If a gun was put to my head, right now, I’d go the easy way. I’d go with Fury. But you know what? I would wait a bit of this.
“I could see an argument for both scenarios.”
    Prediction: Fury… for now
    JOHNNY NELSON
The former WBO cruiserweight champion believes Joshua has more in his arsenal than Fury.
He said: “I’ve gone public in saying I think Anthony Joshua is the all-round better fighter.
“I think Tyson Fury is better tactically and the more technically equipped, but AJ is the all-rounder.
“He can fight, he can box, he’s an athlete. Tyson Fury is a boxer.
“I think both men are now at a stage where they’ve done so much and learned so much in their careers that they’re so neck and neck.
“But, I’d go with Anthony Joshua because he’s shown me a lot more variety in his arsenal.”
